"Huh." Hayes studied the port a moment before it was put back, then watched the gentle dismantlement of the G-Ball with interest. He took the chip carefully with a "Thanks," and frowned slightly, turning it over in his fingers. "Looks like- oh, yeah, here. It's a Silph." The agent held the chip so Faleen could see tiny stylized S stamped on it. "That'll help."

Binary leaned in to Umbreon. "" she asked in a stage whisper.

When Hayes pointed out that the chip was from Silph, Faleen's brow furrowed curiously, leaning over to take a closer look at the making on it as he indicated.
"I see, Hopefully that helps, I know most of Kodo's tech comes from Kaiba corp" She glanced over, then straightened herself back up, turning to the table.
Its where most of Rocket got its equipment from. "This just further proves Galactic is not based out of Kodo" why the heck were they here than?

"You can use this console if you need" she replied, as fingers briskly typed over the keys, saving the scans and moving the open window out of the way to give him a fresh screen for any research, or scans that he would need.
giving him that tech work station, She didn't need it anymore as she stepped over to the other side.
She had her tools, and the G-ball, her next task was simply to remove the next layers... or not so simply.

When she said this, Umbreon looked back at her quickly... not expecting to actually consider a thought like this... but she had a point.
He growled softly, eying her.

This would be difficult, he knew. He had his own action to consider, as to not displease Faleen, or embarrass her.
But he would do just about anything to keep her safe from this man.

"Thanks," Hayes smiled briefly at the other agent and rolled his chair over to the console. It was less strain than getting up and switching seats, and there was a small part of him that was still ten years old and liked zooming around in office chairs.

"It does help," he said as he set the chip up under the scanner. "We already know how to crack the encryption on this model - which is nice, because these things will wipe their data if you touch 'em the wrong way." The computer started to hum and draw an image of the new scan across the screen. Hayes tapped his fingers on the work station's surface. "Wasn't Galactic from Sinnoh originally?"

"" Binary nodded smartly. She'd thought it would be a laid-back day like it usually was when Hayes was working on base, but clearly there were dangers she hadn't known about. The little Umbreon took up an alert posture, paying attention to all the humans' little movements.

This got boring very fast.

She blinked, watching him scoot over in his chair... he was still hurt, reasonable explanation, though there was a mild, almost hidden joy in his act... maybe.
Tapping the screw driver against her chin a couple of times, she ducked herself back into the hardware, only to glance back with with arched eyebrows when he said something about the data being wiped. "Oh dear"
She was.. very glad he came in to work on this when he did, she wouldn't have known what to do with something like that.

"From what I understand, yes" She answered. loosening and removing pieces of the orb, setting them on the aria in front in a very specific, organized layout.
"Until recently it seems," A corner of her mouth twitched a little, not taking her eyes off of her work.

Umbreon glanced over at her after a while, he had been keeping an eye on them as well, but his posture and stance was much more relaxed. he grumbled to her, noticing her alertness, if she stayed stiff for that long it would make her sore.

"Yeah.." The tech was watching the screen again. The complex circuit layout was attracting most of his attention, leaving him a less than scintillating conversationalist while he worked. He leaned back in his chair, brow furrowed at the image as it completed scanning.

Binary relaxed, ears drooping slightly. ""

"D'you have an extra Pokeball?" Hayes asked suddenly.
PostPosted: Sun May 01, 2011 3:04 am

For a while there was silence as the programmer and the engineer worked, Faleen slowly, and carefully taking pieces off the G-ball, and a few times she would pause to type notes to a tablet pad sitting next to her work station.

At his question, Faleen turned her attention upward, pausing only for a moment before reaching down to her thigh. "An empty one?" she asked "I carry Dusk ball, will that work? or would you like me to find a normal Pokeball?"

Umbreon looked back over at the humans He crossed his paws.

Following Umbreon's example, Binary stretched out on the tile floor and crossed her paws, looking like a small black sphinx.

"Uh.. oh hey." A second window flashed up, showing a very similar chip scan. Hayes looked over his shoulder with a sheepish grin of apology. "Never mind. It's in the database." Turning back, he pulled up an image editor, overlaid the two grayscale images, and ran a hand through his hair while he compared them.

Huh.

Hayes adjusted his glasses. "Yeah.. I'll pull the data from it, but this is just a standard chip."
PostPosted: Sun May 01, 2011 3:30 am

Umbreon lifted a brow as he watched her sink down onto the floor, and sit up like a pretty little thing.
She was a strange one, he decided, lowering his chin onto his paws and looking back to the humans.

"Ah, well good." She pulled her hand back, but instead of returning to the disassembling of the G-ball, she watched the monitors as he worked with the chip scans curiously.

Streighting up over the table, and putting her hands on her hips, frowning softly as he brow furrowed.
"Standard?" Hm, she almost didn't expect that for something like the G-ball,
"That's curious, I would think that something that was build for a single Pokemon pokeball wouldn't be compatible with something that held twenty."
She stood, eyes on the monitors, but not looking at it, thoughts turned inward as she pondered to herself.
After a moment she shook her head, "Hopefully the data will give us more insight."
If not, than she wouldn't be surprised if she found more of those chips in this ball.

"Structure-wise anyway. See, the circuit diagrams match." Hayes pointed to the perfectly overlaid images and glanced back to see that Faleen was following him. "But he could've wiped the memory.." The tech began installing the chip in the station's reader, making use of the tools available.

"Still, if this thing holds twenty Pokemon," he mused while he twiddled a tiny screw into place, "either there's more chips in that ball.. oorrr this guy's using a more efficient data compression algorithm." His tone suggested the latter possibility was either annoying, exciting, or both. "What else're you getting?"

Well, now things seemed back to normal. Binary had no idea what they were talking about.
PostPosted: Sun May 01, 2011 7:26 pm

Arms folded over her chest now, still wearing a thoughtful expression as she listened to Hayes.
"Well, I'm not seeing any other chips in here, but we'll see as I get more of this thing taken apart." with that she leaned back in to return to work. "I do seem to be getting into what I am seeing as a second layer of storage compartments... But look at these, they're much smaller than a normal ball." She pointed out, bringing it over to show him.
"He would have to be using something different to keep a pokemon alive in this."

Hayes had been peering over the top of his glasses for the detailed work the tiny chip required; now he twisted the last screw and pushed his eyewear into place to see what Faleen was holding. "Geez," he said after a second. It would have been a laugh at any other time, but right now he was working. "Yeah, there's no way.. huh." The blond frowned faintly. "Maybe a compression algorithm could.."

Following his train of thought, he looked back at the screen and brought up a command line into which he typed. Hooked up in a way that bypassed its safety features, the chip read out its data in lines that flashed past on the screen and abruptly stopped. Hayes leaned forward and scrolled back up, then began to scan the printout. The further he read, the deeper his brow furrowed.

"..or there's just less data."
PostPosted: Sun May 01, 2011 8:39 pm

"Less data? you mean that its missing something?" she asked with a soft frown on her face.
"Can you tell if its a glitch? Could it have been something we did?"
That would not be good if that was the case.

She set the ball back down, making sure it was secure.
Right now what Hayes had found, or not found was keeping her attention, she was curious about the answer, namely what data was it that was missing from the chip.

"No, these things are supposed to reset to zero if the tamper mechanisms are activated. The data's good," Hayes assured Faleen. Intent on his work, he didn't turn around, eyes moving back and forth rapidly over the screen as he rubbed a hand over his temple. "It's just missing.. yeah. Here. See this part?" The blond highlighted an otherwise indistinguishable section of the readout.

"This is the data for one Pokemon. Name, species, trainer, all that. But the routines that manage its vitals aren't here. Just this thing.." He narrowed his eyes. "..which is new.. and tiny.. and data for twenty different Pokemon in the extra space."

Hayes turned his chair and looked at Faleen now, one arm resting on the workstation. "This isn't a code issue. He's done something with the way they're stored and kept alive." He sounded impressed.

Faleen slid her seat back over to her, and she slowly took a seat, eyes not leaving the monitor as Hayes explained to her what exactly was missing from the chip, and how odd that was.

Hands folded in her lap, she lingered in silent thought, before slowly looking back over to the G-ball.
"We'll need to get these scans finished before we can start doing test simulations prior to actual tests on the G-ball"
They didn't want to risk harming the G-ball at all.
"When we can start powering this thing we can find out just what he did to accomplish this."

She reached over to pick up her tablet all the same, and proceeded to log what Hayes had found from the chip.

"Right." Hayes was in complete agreement; they weren't going to get another one of these devices to experiment on, so a slow, methodical approach was more important than ever. "I'll figure out this new piece of code he's put in." He was obviously keen to do so, because he turned back to the console almost immediately. Although he was starting to look a bit pale.

There was a long silence, wherein Binary yawned and stretched her paws, spreading her toe pads as she exposed gleaming white teeth.
