James frowned and looked back at Lyra, despite what David had said, if she wasn't properly taken care of, she really might die. James knelt down next to her, once again placed a gentle hand on her shoulder and said, "Look Lyra, you need to rest, okay? Just take it easy and sleep this off. You'll be fine in no time at all." James gently helped Lyra up into the bed and pulled the covers up over her, laying a gentle hand on her forehead. He smiled and said, "Don't worry, I'll be right here with you. Rest now. You need it." James smiled and placed a glass of water on the stand next to her bed. He sighed and stood up, turning back around to find David standing a foot away, not moving or humming or doing anything but look at James. "What do you want? Can't you see I'm a little distressed right now?" James sighed and was about to push David away when his hand came up to his shoulder and he said, "I need to talk to you." James nodded and followed David into the somewhat private kitchen area. To see David being so serious was unnerving to say the least. James leaned back against the counter and asked, "What do you want? I know you didn't just drop in to visit." James looked at David, studying is reactions; even if he was dancing, James knew him well enough where a slight difference in his step may as well have been sobbing.
David smiled widely and spoke softly and seriously, his face didn't match what he was saying at all, but David's expression rarely changed, "Well, first off, there's two things. One, I need your help with something, that malevolence I was talking about earlier. We've had some unscheduled deaths in the area, apparently they were monster attacks. But number two; your girlfriend there... her soul is very strange..." James frowned and said, "Whatever it is, it can wait until Lyra gets better, I'm not leaving her alone in a place like this. What do you mean her soul is strange?" James cocked an eyebrow at David, when it came to souls, he was the man to ask, but James had never heard of a 'strange' soul before. He'd heard of odd souls, weird ones, different souls, but never 'strange'. According to David, there was never anything strange about the soul, it was a very regulated being, sure there were anomalies, but they simply matched with something else. If Lyra soul was strange, it was not only a rare occurrence, it may as well have been the only such occurrence. David looked about for a moment then said, "Well, there's two things. For one, her soul doesn't seem to match with her body... it's something I've never seen... and two... It's her date James." James looked fairly surprised as far as the first point went, but when he heard the second one, he asked, "What about the date? Everyone has one, you know that." The 'date' they were speaking of was something only immortal reapers like David could see. It was a series of numbers above someone's head that could be interpreted into a time of death. David looked back at Lyra who was lying on the bed and then back to James before saying, "James... did I never tell you why I can be such good friends with you? I remember telling you it's because I wasn't going to have to take you. You were the only one I had ever seen without a date... until now... Your girlfriend... she doesn't have a date either... She's not going to die..."
James blinked a bit at this revelation; neither he, nor Lyra had a death date, he had always wondered why David would become such good friends with him, especially since David hated escorting friends to the other side. "No date... Even immortals have dates don't they?" David thought for a few moments and said, "Yeah, they're all the same; the end of the universe... But you... and her... no date... That means you and her outlast the end of the universe... Even I have a date... same as all the other Immortals... Heehee... James... You're going to outlast death himself, literally! Heehee." James saw how David giggled quietly, and despite how joking and lighthearted it sounded, James could tell what it was. David was terrified of thinking about his own mortality, to think that a death incarnate could die was to upset the balance of the universe. James laid a comforting hand on David's shoulder and he stopped his worrisome giggling, frowning lightly. James sighed and said, "We can talk about this later. But don't tell Lyra, I want to be the one to tell her. Look David, it's a long way off, a million billion millenniums away. You've got enough time to listen to all the music you want." David breathed lightly, staring off into space and then smiled lightly, not his usual grin, but a more, relieved weak smile than anything else. He looked at James and said, calmly, "Thanks James... I feel a bit better now. You're a good friend to have... But anyway, back to my first point; the malevolence. This monster is... a Corrupt."
David paused for effect, letting his words sink in. Something inside James grinned wide and laughed maniacally, which made James grin wider and chuckle lightly. It had been so long since he had taken a soul, but a Corrupt; that was the mother lode. James needed to feed on corrupted souls to survive, and it had been too long since his last feast. A Corrupt, was a conglomeration of the most corrupted souls imaginable; those who have escaped the dark pits and come back to the human realm as monsters, combined into one creature. Simply sending the souls to the other side was David's job, whereas James eliminated corrupted souls who escaped the dark pits or refused David's help in crossing over. While David's help allowed the souls to continue existing, James' method killed them entirely; absorbing all their energy for his own. James was about to say he would help, but then he remembered Lyra and instead he said, "I'm not helping you until Lyra is better. I don't care what you say or how you say it, I'm not going anywhere until I know she's safe. You and I both know death dates can change in an instant, it's why you use the term, 'unscheduled' for people whose death dates suddenly change." James looked at David wit a hard stare, basically showing him that nothing was going to change his mind. David responded by saying, "See, I offer you the chance to obtain a Corrupt, and you blow it off because your girlfriend has a fever. Now who's being selfish? And besides, I didn't think you wanted Lyra to see your unsealed self." James frowned, Lyra had already gotten more than a glimpse of that side of James; he didn't want her to see it again if he could help it. He sighed and said, "When I'm 100% positive she'll be okay, then we can go." With that, James walked out of the kitchen area and sat down on the bed with Lyra, looking at her and smiling lightly, thinking, "No death date..." He gently ran his hand through her hair as she slept and leaned over to kiss her on the forehead.

Lyra was grateful to James as he helped her under the covers and made sure she was warm in bed, this place was extremely cold for some reason. lightly she smiled at him with a flushed face as he placed the water on the stand and a hand on her forehead, "don't worry, ill be fine" she told him with the same smile and slowly fell into a light sleep, occasionally waking up when David or James spoke to loudly, she did not understand the conversation, but did not actually find rest till James came back and sat on the bed with her. something brushed her forehead lightly and she blindly reached out before her and wrapped her arms around something big and warm, weakly she pulled it towards her and fell much deeper into sleep than she had been, surrounded in a familiar scent and feeling that made her feel so comfortable.
Weary she stumbled back to her apartment just as the sun was starting to set beyond the western horizon, the days work had not been overly exhausting, since she had only had two appointments earlier in the day. Her body ached and she felt rather weak from the poor sleep she had had on the sofa the night before. She had left the dark haired man to sleep on her bed the night before, unable to move him due to her smaller size she had opted it would be better to just sleep on the couch for the evening. She wondered if she should get a new one as she opened her door and proceeded to place her grocery items on the counter. "Where am i?" Lyra nearly knocked her items off the counter as she spun around. she had not expected her visitor to wake so soon. "ah, you are at my apartment..." she said as she carefully walked to her bed room where she was struck by a pair of gold eyes that stared warily at her from her bed. "I didn't think it would be right to just leave you there in the alley, especially with those injuries you have." she said apologetically standing by the door wary of walking in to check on him since he seemed to be tense about something.
--------------------------------------------------------
Boredom was a constant irritation living among the refugees at haven, especially for Lavi, a young fire spirit that often got into more trouble than humanly possible because of the lack of entertainment here in Haven. Or so his day started out, until the Demon pulled up in his car and introduced his guest. had it been any other creature from this relm they would not have batted an eye, but the young human had attracted more attention than anything he had seen in his life time. "what is a human doing here?" "she shouldnt be here, this will cause us more trouble than we need" Lavi's curiosity increased as the whispers reached his ears, Why would a human make them so nervous he thought making his way though the crowd jsut as the elder walked away from the demon and he watched the pair vanish into the crowd headed towards the inn. "What has every one so up tight?' he asked the nearest man, a saytr by looks of it. "haven't seen a human before?" the male saytr asked arching an eye brow as he smiled at the young fire spirit, "i guess not seeing how long you guys live" the goat man chuckled and Lavi frowned as his hair turned a lighter orange in anger, Of course i have seen a human, i haven't lived in this dump that long he growled loosing his temper easily as he grabbed the goat man by his beard, life and death was not something to joke about especially since they all knew his time here on the earth was limited, it was part if the reason he hated living in this place where he was just wasting away day after day. "ah, sorry, i did not really mean to offend you, it just slipped honest" the sayter squeaked as he felt the heat coming off of Lavi's body, Fire spirits might have had the shortest life spans, but it was only cause their power was to great for their bodies to handle for too long. Realizing what he was doing he let the man go and inhaled several times to try and calm himself. his temper was probably the shortest of all the fire spirits he had ever known and that was saying something since all fire spirits had very short tempers.
he was surprised to still see the Sayter still standing before him when he opened his eyes, granted he had moved back a ways, but he was still within the vicinity, "what do you want?" he snapped "well i was going to answer your question, but..." "Just go away" Lavi growled, not in the mood for a sayter's company, it was probably best if he got his temper under control again, that last comment had pushed him to far to the edge and he really did not want to set the encampment on fire.

James smiled as Lyra wrapped her arms around him when he lightly planted a kiss on her forehead. He sighed and said, "Get some rest." He unwrapped her arms and let her sleep peacefully. He started to stand up, but immediately froze, holding a hand up to his chest as his hair started to glow bright white again. His hair seemed to move on its own, extending out and reaching for Lyra. James backed up and groaned in pain, saying to David, who was watching the scene unfold, lightly tapping his foot and humming lightly, "Keep an eye on her... I'll be right back..." James headed to the door and opened it, heading outside and leaning up against the tree, breathing heavily, he waited until the power surge faded and he returned to normal. James sighed and said to himself, "Dammit... the seal is getting weaker... that isn't good..." Standing up straight, James took a deep breath before stepping back inside the room. He looked over at David, who was humming a different tune now, but still in the same place he was before. David smiled and waved lightly at James. Sighing, James walked over and asked, "Well, unless I want to go berserk and kill everything in Haven, I guess I'm gonna help you find your Corrupt." David cocked his head to the side, a bit puzzled, as he asked, "I never said I needed help finding it. Just killing it. Speaking of, our mutual target should be here in 3...2...1... now." As soon as David finished counting there was a scream from outside as well as a loud crash. James looked at David as though he was crazy and asked, You LED HIM HERE!?" James grabbed David by the shoulders and shook him. Flopping lightly and giggling lightly, David replied, "No. You led him here actually. Your power's at an abnormally increased level that was easy for him to detect. So, this is all your fault. So what are you gonna do about it?" David giggled lightly when James let him go with a shove, David hit the wall and continued to giggle lightly, dancing away and flopping onto the bed that wasn't taken by Lyra and saying, "Don't worry, I'm shielding my power level, as well as little Lyra's soul here, I'll keep her safe while you go do your thing." David giggled suddenly and turned his music up, bobbing back and forth lightly to the music with a very large grin on his face and waving James away. James stared, bewildered as to how his friend could have not mentioned such a thing, but shrugged it off; a Corrupt coming to him was easier than tracking it. Walking over and stopping at the door, James sighed, he hoped he wasn't going to regret this.===== Merrill had been driving for a while, sitting in silence and waiting for Jack to show himself again. She sighed, there was no trace of James or his human friend. No matter how hard she tried, and no matter how angry she tried to stay at Jack, her mind kept wandering back to the previous day, and how enjoyable his company was. She groaned lightly and thought to herself, "Why am I so hung up on it? It was just a foot massage! ...A really... really... really good foot massage..." Merrill shook her head to clear it and sighed again. She sensed something in the back seat, and said, "I know you're back there. I know your presence far too well to be deceived by simple invisibility tricks. Just for the record, I'm still mad at you Jack.." Frowning, she waited for the immortal's reply, thinking to herself, "Why am I so caught up on this? It's not as though Jack and could ever... could we? But why would he want to... I'm a human... he's immortal..." Merrill was slightly distracted now, she was almost lost in her thoughts, but when Jack spoke, it would snap her out of her thoughts.

A slight pop sound came from the back seat of Merrill's vehicle as Jack reappeared with a sigh, clean of any of the previous blood or sign that he had died only a few hours ago. "You know that was the 54th time you have shot me, and it doesn't feel any less painful than the last time" he sighed sitting up in the seat he bend forward between the two front seats looking for something as she drove. Hastily he rummaged through some of Merrill's stuff with a tense look on his face before dropping back into the back seat with a sigh. "Merrill, could you pull over at the next stop real quick" he said leaing back into the seat, not acting like his drunk self at all. if Immortals could get sick he would have shown the symptoms. "You don't seem to have any snacks" he mumbled needing sugar badly, bad enough he could barely use his powers for the time being, they were to absorbed in keeping his body from destroying it's self inside out due to the lack of "elixir".------------------------------------------------------------------- Lavi managed to get himself under control after some time to himself, and as he came back he was slightly disturbed by news that the human had possibly died. It was said that the Undertaker had given the demons residence a visit and most knew demons rarely died, so they figured he had been there for the humans soul, many had been lighter in heart about the news cause they figured a human in Haven was an ill omen, but if she was dead it would not give them quite as much trouble. Disappointed and slightly anxious he made his way to the inn again wondering what the demon was, would or did do in response to these events. he had probably been attached to the woman in some way, since he had brought her all the way out here instead of taking her soul when he first found her, then again, some demons had very twisted ways of using people. viewing the room from a far he watched as the demon came out of the room. what he saw was not the reaction he had expected, white hair, and tattoos covered his body for an instant as he seemed to be controlling a sudden burst of power like Lavi would have to when loosing his own temper. that is not what one would expect him to do if he lost something precious to him... he thought sneaking closer to the tree just as the sounds of a monster erupted from the surrounding woods and he heard a few curses as several people began to rush to their homes. monsters were commonly attracted to the powerful people living in Haven, so it was not uncommon to see them. most times the stronger protected the encampment from the monsters with little damage to the surrounding residences. turning to face what ever was coming Lavi forgot about the demon and his human inorder to preserve his own life.

Merrill sighed as Jack revealed himself, ripping her from her thoughts and ensuring that she was thoroughly aware of his presence. She glanced back when she heard him rummaging through her things and was about to ask what he was doing when Jack spoke again. She was a bit confused, but Jack didn't look well; if what he really needed was something to eat, then she would help him. She sighed and said, "Sure thing Jack. We'll be there soon enough." She glanced back at him and noticed how bad he really looked. She frowned and reached inside her jacket, rooting around for a moment and pulling out a bar of chocolate and a pack of not sugar free gum. She tossed them both into the back at Jack and said, "Nibble on those till we get there, you've got some seriously low blood sugar problems for an immortal." She laughed lightly and continued down the road, the next stop wasn't for another few miles.Despite the way she acted, Merrill really was worried about Jack; she had never seen him look so awful before, and she hoped it wasn't because of what she did.===== James opened the door and stepped outside, cracking his neck and sighing. He heard another loud noise, coming from the direction of the nearby forest. James held his hands open at his sides, palms forward, and smiled wolfishly as his hair slowly turned white and his tattoos appeared again. His eyes turned inverse, his pupils and irises turning white and the whites of his eyes turning black. He laughed lightly and said, his voice much deeper and more demonic, "It's good to be back." He raised his hands up, extending his arms, but leaving his palms pointing upwards. He laughed again and snapped his fingers, two bright white fireballs formed a few inches above his hands. He turned towards the forest and waited for his adversary to come. And not long after, a dark figure burst from the treeline, charging straight at James. James grinned widely and said, "Glad to see someone's energetic. That'll be good for when I absorb you." James pointed his palms toward the monster, the fireballs still floating an inch from his hands. He retracted his arms then immediately pushed out with them; the fireballs spiraled toward the monster, hitting the liquid shadow that surrounded the Corrupt. The shadow flashed white and immediately dissipated, showing the Corrupt's true form. James immediately followed the fireballs, charging the Corrupt with a sword he had summoned. The monster roared at him, its voice a mix of wails and screams of human souls.
James jumped at the monster, slashing at it with his sword, which the monster swiftly blocked with it's bladed arm. James grinned maniacally and said, "You're not gonna live to regret that." James lunged at the monster; because of its size, it was unable to dodge the blow. James pierced it right through its 'heart'. A Corrupt's heart was simply the mass of dark energy that held the creature together. When James pierced it, the creature roared again, and its form started to shift violently, it was extremely unstable without its heart. James smiled wider and started his absorption process; he placed his hands, open palmed, on the monster, before a pair of bright white wings of light erupted from his back. The Corrupt split apart into individual souls, before reforming into a single dark ball of energy. James smiled widely, and said, "Absolutely delicious. A feast fit for a king." James pressed the ball of dark energy to his chest, and the screams of the souls echoed through the trees as they were one by one devoured by James. James roared, his voice doubled, then tripled, then quadrupled, multiplying the number of voices sounding from him. His eyes shone brightly and the wings of light flapped twice. James fell silent and went down on one knee, pressing a fist to the ground for balance. He breathed heavily and the wings disappeared slowly, his hair falling down to obstruct his face as he rested for a moment.

Jack took the treats without saying anything, and opened the candy bar first. "Yeah, sure blood sugar and all" he chuckled lightly before taking a bite from the bar. It would not be as quick to affect his body as liquid would, but he was already starting to feel much better after tasting the sweet flavor. relaxing he sat in the back seat for a moment before he felt the strong presence of the true demon (insert name) "s**t" he mumbled as he took another bite, "He is near by, Merrill" he said finishing the candy bar, and looking at the packet of gum, hopefully this will last me... s**t, if he is unsealed this will be a hell of a fight he thought placing a peice of gum on his tongue as he looked to Merrill to see her reaction. s**t he needed more sugar, why the hell was he getting so tense about her now. Usually he had no problems with watching Merrill do her work, but he was usually in top shape at those times. What would i do if she got hurt? he thought feeling a slight pain in his chest, if she got hurt there was no telling what would happen.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Lavi could not see the creature as the trees were tossed aside by some invisible force that charged through surrounded in shadows, and Lavi was stunned by the powerful pressure the creature gave off. Suddenly facing the creature was not the best idea, and the fire spirit raced to hide, finding an arch way and watched as a pure form of power developed not far from where he was hiding, peeking out from his hiding spot Lavi noticed the demon glow as the creature headed right to the source. Lavi, glowing slightly from the demon's power Lavi watched as he destroyed the shadow's cloak and nearly vomited as the smell and look of the disgusting mass of tortured souls that stood in the middle of Haven. He was so shocked by the appearance he could not move. he watched in wonder as the demon easily took out the creature, it seemed the White Demon did this often, he dispatched the creature with ease, making it seem a walk in the park. "Did you see that, it was almost second nature, i knew that human was bad luck" another creature beside him commented shaking Lavi from his trans, Blame the human? a few minutes ago they thought she was dead he thought beginning to wonder if they were all just blaming humans for their troubles.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Lyra was stured from her sleep as a loud scream came from outside, blinking, and still somewhat fevered she slowly looked around not remembering where she was. slowly she became aware of the events that had happened earlier that day and the day before when she saw david bouncing on his bed. "Where is James?" she asked sitting up in bed, hair tossed about her face, slowly she wobbled out of her bed. David continued to hum as he had been doing since she had been sleeping and simply watched her approach the door, "I wouldn't do that if i were you" the undertaker said as he bounced about on his bed to the unheard music. Lyra glanced at him as she placed a hand on the door. She did not reply but simply looked at the door again as she heard a loud scream, that seemed to get louder by the instant. scared for James she opened the door to see him, white hair glowing and accenting the tattoos that laced his face. she had to cover her ears as the soul screams continued to shout louder increasing the pain that was already in her head from the fever. shaking slightly she leaned against the door with her hands on her temple, waiting for the ringing to stop as silence trapped the area. Slowly she looked up again to see James kneeling as if taking a rest. she wasn't sure how she knew it was him, but she knew some how, attracted to this appearance as she was to his more human side.

Even Merrill felt the power surge from James nearby, and it almost made her slam on the brakes. She managed to pull over and say, "Even I felt that... which direction Jack? We may need to put your sugar need on hold for a bit." Merrill was worried, about Jack, about what she was going to do; if James was unsealed, they might have to fight. She could tell he had held back all while she was chasing him, but when he was unsealed, he was very unrestrained. She was also worried about Jack, he obviously wasn't at his best, and if he got into a fight, he could actually lose for once.
=====
James continued to breathe heavily, slowly getting to his feet. He found it was difficult to see, as his hair was drawn across his face, back towards the room, toward Lyra. He turned to see Lyra standing in the doorway. He smiled and quickly walked towards her, still fully unsealed. Quickly reaching her, he wrapped his arms around her and held her closely, his hair flowing around her and wrapping itself around her in the same manner. He spoke lightly, his voice very soft, yet very demonic; it was almost like his voice from earlier, but whispered, "I'm glad you're okay, but you still feel weak, you should rest." James' grip was tight, tighter than it probably should have been. He leaned down slightly and kissed the top of Lyra's forehead. He smiled lightly, his teeth very sharp and pointed now, and said, "I was worried about you. I'd hate to see something happen to you." He tightened his grip for just a second, as though he were hugging her again, without ever having released his first grip. He rested his chin on her head and sighed comfortably, this was what he wanted; just to hold her close to him for a while.

Jack chewed the gum swallowing the sugar as he looked at Merrill through the rear view mirror, she looked so beautiful when she was stressed. "Left, about three miles, there should be a road in ten feet, take it" he said starting to feel much better as the candy bar was digested in his stomach and his mouth absorbed the sugar from the gum. "i do have to say, this should be rather exciting, i haven't felt James so free in a long time" he said with a smile returning to his old self as he continued to chew the gum, Merrill would definitely need his help if they were to take James into custody this time.
--------------------------------------------------
A young woman caught his eye as the demon stood and looked in her direction, the human he thought holding his breath as the demon approached her and grabbed her, and held her close. What is he doing to her!? he thought heat growing inside as he saw her struggle slightly. Several instances ran though his head as he thought of what the demon probably had her for as he watched none of them pleasant. Angry he was not sure what he should do, the demon was powerful, it had been apparent in the last fight he had been in, if he tried to simply jump in now, he would be swatted away like a fly, no he had to rescue the human, she would probably want to go back to her home right? perhaps they had some protection for her there, after all if she was something precious enough for the demon to want to keep her soul intact the rest of her people would want her back right? staying where he was he waited and watched, he would follow till he had his chance.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Lyra tensed as he approached, she was caught up in the pure beauty of his appearance as he walked to her with a smile, she heard his voice and winced as he grabbed her with a slightly strong grip, one she would have a hard time pulling from, if she wanted to pull away. goose bumps ran down her spine as she heard his voice and she breathed faster as he pulled her close embracing her possessively, like this was all he had ever hoped to do. he was worried about her, "I'm sorry" she said surprised she was not scared of this form like she had been before.breathing lightly she remained in his arms more for his sake as she felt him sigh and rest his chin on her head.

James sighed comfortably, and caught a glimpse of a man glaring at him. He decided to ignore him and said, to Lyra, "Come on, let's get you to bed." James lifted his head off of Lyra's and scooped her up in his arms like she was as light as a stick. James carried her back to the room, through the door, shutting it behind him and carrying Lyra to the bed. He laid her down, pulled the covers back up over her and smiled lightly. He looked up to see David bobbing back and forth with his music on the other bed. "David, can you leave for a little bit? I'd like to talk to Lyra alone." David hummed lightly and stood up, nodding to James and headed outside, dancing silently as he shut the door behind him. James sighed and looked back to Lyra, smiling as his hair hung down, gently waving as though there was a slight breeze. James leaned over and kissed Lyra on the forehead and asked, "Do you remember when you first found out i was a demon?" Lyra gently shook her head, and James smiled and quietly explained what had happened.
On the third day of James being under Lyra's care, he was finally back on his feet. He wasn't at full strength, but he was able to move about the house. He kept his living space clean, and had moved to the couch, letting Lyra have her bed back. It was late afternoon, and James was fixing dinner for the both of them. One of the benefits of being a demon was knowing how to cook, oddly enough. He heard the door open and looked up to see Lyra enter, alone, as always. He smiled and said, "Afternoon! Just working on dinner now, it'll be ready in a bit." James went back to preparing the meal, and when it was finished, he set the plates out on the table and sat down. He smiled at Lyra and said, "Dig in, hope you enjoy." As the two of them ate, the room was nearly silent, James had left the TV on to check and see if there were any publicized events surrounding his escape from the hunters. After a little while, James looked to Lyra and asked, "I've been wondering... why did you bring me back here anyway? I could have been some crazy person, some psycho killer, and you would've just let me into your home..." James smiled lightly, waiting for Lyra's answer.

Lyra tried her best to stay on her feet as she simply stood their comfortably in his arms. some how she knew he would catch her if she fell, but did not want to concern him more by showing the fact that she was still not well. after a moment his head was lifted off her own and he suddenly swept her off her feet making the room spin before settling as she was placed back into her bed and then recovered, blushing slightly she found she felt like a young child who was being tucked into bed. he would make a wonderful father she thought and flushed a brighter red as she realized what she was thinking. she barely knew the man, and she was already planing a life with him. a longing throbbed in her heart and she felt really sad for not remembering being able to remember being the woman he clearly loved. it was quiet for a moment as david left with his unherd music, and just as she was about to say something James offered to tell her some of what she had forgotten, eagerly she nodded, not trusting her self to say anything without crying...
Lyra came home to find James up and about, working on dinner. She was surprised to see him up and about but did not say anything as he told her dinner would be ready soon, smiling to him she simply placed her things in her room and then walked back out to the kitchen, noticing the setup in the living room, surprised when she noticed he was going to switch to the couch. silently she sat at the table giving him a greatful smile as they sat to eat. in silence, the last few days had been slightly akward since he had been bed ridden and there had not been much to talk about. she had learned that his name had not been james, but for the time he had accepted the one she had given him, telling her that she would probably not be able to pronounce his real name, she had though managed to tell him her life's story after a few hours. his question startled her from her thoughts as she looked back at him surprised. "umm, you know the thought never came to mind..." she said blushing slightly, "perhaps i just knew you werent any thing like that..." she said looking back at him with a shy smile.

James listened intently to Lyra's response, smiling lightly as she answered. James looked at Lyra, stared into her blue-green eyes with his bright golden ones. He smiled wider and said, "I haven't seen such a pure soul in my entire lifetime, which is saying a lot believe it or not." James sighed lightly and continued to smile at Lyra. He took a bite of his food, swallowed it and said, "I don't know if you're a really good judge of character or a really bad one though. You're not wrong in saying that I'm not a crazy psycho killer... but you're definitely wrong if you think I'm a paragon of integrity." He chuckled slightly and smiled, continuing to eat his food sparingly. Of course Lyra didn't know he was a demon, he hadn't revealed that much yet. The clue that she wouldn't have been able to pronounce his real name would have been enough for a terribly clever person. James wondered just what Lyra would do when, if, she found out about him.

Lyra blinked as he replied, "there you go again with souls, you mentioned them once before," she said watching him, his gold stare sending shivers down her spine, "What do souls have to do with anything?" she asked looking back to her food, "don't tell me you are some kind of angel, cause you know don't believe in the after life" she smiled jokingly as she continued to finish her dinner then move to clean up the mess, she figured James would be to tired to clean up so she started on her own, refusing any motions he made to help her. he was still not completely well, and she did not think cooking dinner had helped him at all. "dont try to get up, the only place i will allow you to go would be to the couch or the bed in your current state" she warned as she began to scrub and rinse the left over pots and pans.

James chuckled slightly at her comment, saying, "No, not an angel. More like... what you would call a demon." James smiled and placed his plate on top of hers, his food only about half finished. He smiled at her warning and stood up, walking over to the kitchen and said, "I'll prove it to you. Watch." James smiled lightly and snapped his fingers, a small bright white flame appeared in the center of his hand. This was easily doable with a few 'magic tricks' so in order to make sure Lyra believed him, he had to do something better. James took his other hand and swirled the fire lightly, before pressing both his hands together and hiding the fire in between his hands; all of this, still easily doable by a human magician. James smiled a bit wider and pulled his hands apart, the fire swirling in a spiral in between his palms before it formed into a small stick figure-like creature. The creature's feet touched James' palm and it bowed to Lyra before poofing out of existence. James smiled, and said, "If that isn't proof enough, I have more." He sighed lightly, taking a deep breath and slowly exhaling, as he did, the air in front of him turned cold and a cone of ice formed in front of his mouth. James grabbed the icicle and set the cone on the counter next to Lyra, smiling and waiting for her reaction.

Cleaning the dishes she gave James a not beliving look from over her shoulder for a moment. "And im a unicorn" she snorted in reply not believing he could be anything of the sort. hearin him grab the plates and remove himself from his chair she turned to see him bringing the plates to her,"James, i said stay-" she was about to chew him out for getting up when he showed her the fire and she stopped to watching the white fire in his hands burn beautifully without actually burning his hand, he swirled it and several other colors reflected off of it's surface as the white light picked up on some of the colorful pieces in her kitchen and she could not speak, after a moment he cut off the oxygen to the fire, but it did not snuff out like normal fire would, instead a creature was born from his hands, a fire spirit that bowed to her before leaving. Unable to say anything she looked up at James in amazement as he made the cone of ice with his mouth. "James... I don't know what to say" she managed to squeak as she reached out to touch the frozen cylinder finding it as cold as could be. if he was a demon, why was he not horrendous, why was she not scared of him, why was he so comfortable to be around, looking back up at him she still did not know what to say, "why were you hurt then?" she asked in a whisper not sure if she wanted to know the answer to that, but needing to know all the same.

James continued to smile lightly, looking at Lyra and saying, "I know, it's not exactly how you pictured a demon to look, right? Well, it'd take a while to explain everything, so I won't bore you with that right now." James sighed and watched as Lyra reacted as he had expected, albeit a bit better than most would have taken it. He smiled lightly as Lyra's question finally came up. He smiled lightly and said, "Well... that's a bit complicated... But at its base, I have some people after me, trying to capture me so they can steal my power and use it for their own purposes. Normally I would offer my services, help them, but no... this person's soul is corrupt and black as pitch... She just wants to use my power to suit her own desires." James shook his head to clear it, his smile returning to his face. He looked at Lyra and smiled reassuringly. It had been a long time since he had been so fond of someone, and it was odd that it was a human. Newborn humans always had pure souls, but as they grew older, their souls were tainted by the corruption in the world around them. But not Lyra's her soul was as pure as a newborn baby; not a single bit of corruption to be seen. James sighed and said, "I'm a Demon Overseer of Justice. In other words, I punish the wicked and corrupt." James wouldn't have been surprised if Lyra had kicked him to the curb right then and there, but somehow he knew she wouldn't.
