So just last night Bran gave birth to her puppies. I was up with her all night along with Blue. She ended up giving birth to four puppies: three boys and one girl. It's too early to tell what kind of dog their father might have been. The puppies appear to be healthy but one of the boys is awfully small. Blue says he is probably a runt.
As for Bran she had little trouble with the delivery but is very protective of those puppies. She barely tolerates me being near them. It's going to be interesting when I have to take her and the puppies to the Vet when they get old enough. Already Bran has nipped at Charis and I had to explain to Charis that she needs to stay back for everyone's safety.
After that I lost track of Charis as I had to corral Bran's area so the puppies wouldn't wander and would stay warm enough. Apparently she got Blue to take her to Corny's place and told Branka about the puppies. My suspicions about Charis involved with Bran being pregnant was correct. Apparently she heard that Branka likes dogs and wanted to get her a dog of her own. Oh Charis... I don't know what to do with her.
Anyways Charis dragged Branka over (Blue made sure it was okay with Corny) and Branka didn't talk at all. Before Branka and Charis were allowed into my room I had to explain to them the importance of keeping lots of space between them and the puppies. Bran would see them as a threat to the puppies' well being and would possibly attack. Charis said she would keep back while holding her arm that had been nipped. Branka just nodded.
I allowed them into the room and from my bed they looked at the puppies. Bran had growled when they entered but I hushed her. She then went back to laying down and resting while watching everything. After watching Branka stare at the puppies something tells me that she won't be leaving anytime soon. Especially after Charis asked which puppy she wanted. I need to have a talk with that girl about not planning things out like this and giving things away that she has no right to. I mean I have no problem giving Branka a puppy, it'd be great actually cause I can't keep them all. Charis just needs to talk to me about it first.
