Steelton had to bite back a bitter laugh. Surely after managing to let an entire tribe meet destruction, the title of guardian should be stripped from him. He shook his head and said "Greetings Raphael. I am called Steelton Highspire, though many simply go with 'Steel'. I truly should be the one to apologize, I do believe I am a great deal larger than you, yes? Spreading my wings would certainly not help that fact. And hearing your wings....you must be a 'Phim? No 'Daeva would greet another with such courtesy".
Steelton was attempting to stall the 'Phim, trying to give himself time to consider the kind offer of shelter. True, it had been quite a long time since he last had Modi-made shelter, but he found being around more than three or four foxes at a time to be quite uncomfortable.
"May I ask, how large is the tribe I would be imposing myself upon? The honor of staying amongst such understanding Modis would be mine, but I am afraid large groups of others makes me....nervous".

((Gonna throw in Amerasu as a pre-existing member too xD))  Amerasu flew at an easy pace back towards camp, having set off after her own cleansing ritual this morning to explore the herbs near the waterfall. The shaman justified it to herself as that--exploring. It wasn't really work if she wasn't making anything, right? Chuckling to herself, the female Modiphim tossed long curly hair out of her eyes and landed back in the middle of camp, a bundle of her findings carefully clamped in her teeth.
As she moved towards their little storehouse for shaman's supplies, Amerasu caught sight of Merit coming towards her. She nodded in greeting and offered a smile, then carefully dropped her herbs into the little pile. She was going to have to go out tomorrow and work on building said little pile up.
"Greetings, Merit," she said pleasantly, offering a bigger smile now that her mouth was free. "I thought I heard more voices than yours as I was flying over, where are the others?"
Raphael tilted his head to the side at Steelton's talk of the 'sound' of his wings, but he politely did not ask. "A pleasure to meet you then, Steel. Yes, I'm a Modiphim. I'm one of the only two who live here. I'm...afraid it would be a very rare Modidaeva indeed who could find our tribe acceptable," he chuckled.
"Not very large, in truth, though we seem to have picked up a couple more foxes in the last hour or so. There is myself, the Elder..." he paused to consider how many of them there were. "Unless others have come in my absence, we are no more than ten. There are only a few gathered at the moment, however, and that includes the two newcomers. I think you'll find yourself at ease if you choose to come with me, my tribe is perhaps the most peaceful I've ever heard of." Raphael offered a smile, even if the Guardian seemingly couldn't see him, and added: "But please, I wouldn't force you to come. It is entirely up to you, Steelton."

Steelton sighed to himself in relief. No 'Daevas to cause trouble, two ’Phims and a tribe no larger than ten? It sounded like a small slice of heaven after traveling for so long. Surely he could spare a few nights to rest, especially since he really did not have a true destination in mind. Only now that he was feeling much calmer than he had in a while did he notice how his wings ached and his stomach complained.
“That sounds wonderful Raphael, and I would be honored to accept your kind offer. I am afraid I will have to ask you to lead the way rather slowly however. I…lost my sight some time ago. Flying is rather easy since there is only the occasional bird, but a forest can give me quite some trouble at times.”

Merit trotted up and gave Amerasu a cheery grin and wink. "I 'spect their bringing back our company at a leisurely enough pace that they can get a good look at th' scenery. I'm just the front-runner, makin' sure there's enough sleeping places and all that fine stuff."
She looked down at the pile of herbs Amerasu had collected, and nodded towards them. "Been scoutin' out all th' best spots fer collecting?" She chuckled and flicked her long tail in a gesture of humor. "I ain't ever known someone who made a day of rest so productive," she said, still chuckling as she spoke.
It was actually half teasing, though Merit felt there was a ring of truth to her words. After all, a pleasure flight could certainly be considered relaxing. If one just so happened to pass a particularly floushing clump of herbs as they flew, well more power to ya. She'd never known anyone to have such a knack for finding useful plants as Amerasu!
