Sighing, Ellion closed his eyes and lowered his head as if in defeat. If what Azrael said was true, then he would still be able to see both her and Kai a later time while still keeping Raziel on earth safely. However, it all rested on his ability to trust her, Raziel, and the chance that Kai would someday need to return to earth. Of course, being a safe haven for them actually sounded nice, as though he would be one of the few humans they could come to for refuge and aid.
As they walked back into the room to confront Raziel, Ellion kept his face blank, not wanting to give away his intentions until he had heard what the male angel had decided on. Surprised to hear him give in so quickly, Ellion was both relieved and suspicious. Although he still felt unable to trust the male angel, he said, "All right, then. Azrael, bring Kai in here so you two can return to Heaven. I do expect you to visit if you're ever in the neighborhood, though," he joked with a weak smile, feeling as though he had been defeated.
Turning his attention back to Raziel as the woman left, Ellion frowned. "You know, you could show a bit more optimism. If you're going to always be like that, it'll be a drag just having you around." Realizing he was being rather harsh considering everything the male had already gone through, Ellion sighed and said, "Look, I really do want to help you. Since you'll be staying here from now on, all I ask is that you're honest with me and let me or the servants know if you ever need anything. I can't say I understand what you've been through, but I can see it's taken a great toll on you and your spirit. So please, just try to convalesce here without worrying for your own safety or comfort. I'm sure you'll find soon enough that you have nothing to fear any longer," he ended just before the other two returned.

Azrael watched the debate within Ellion trying to figure out what to do. Azrael followed Ellion back into the room and was surprised to see Raziel admit defeat as soon as they entered. This was not the angel she had known, the angel she knew was more excitable and stubborn. The angel she knew did not compromise so easily and it saddened her slightly to see him give up. Azrael could also tell that Ellion was suspicious of Raziel’s quick surrender. With a nod Azrael left the room to fetch the young angel.
Raziel watched as Azrael left the room with a silent nod going to fetch Kai. When Ellion spoke he looked a bit confused. The human wanted him to be optimistic and not quite so hurt and depressed after what had been done to him. “Why…why do you want to help me? Is it so you can gain more feathers? So you can have you wishes, have everything you want?” Raziel challenged. “Your kind has done more damage than can be fixed, I have doubts now. I don’t feel like I can even trust my own kin. Our wings are precious to us and for that reason I don’t want them to come back although I know they will. I don’t want to be hurt like that again; if I fell it would all just go away…I would go away.” Raziel growled he however silenced himself when Kai and Azrael entered the room.
Azrael although only having a bit of the conversation knew what had gone on before she had entered the room. “Kai stay in here and speak with your teacher a bit before we go I need to speak with the human.” Azrael said softly to her young charge. She led Ellion out of the room and into the hallway. “He will freeze the growth of his wings, he can’t do it forever. He fears them being hurt so he can push their regrowth back. In that time you need to gain his trust because when his wings finally decide to push through he will need someone there to help him. Gaining adult wings or having to regrow them is not easy. Its quite painful and needs to be done in a large room like the one he is in. When the wings push through his back it will be painful and the wings will stretch there full length before settling down.” Azrael explained. “If he has no one to trust then he will try to hide and if he hides somewhere small he will potentially break his wings again."

Not surprised at the male's questions and suspicions, Ellion realized he would have to answer later as the other two made their appearance. Keeping a straight face for Kai's sake as he and Azrael left the room, Ellion listened carefully to what she had to say, concerned for Raziel's wellbeing as well.
Frowning, he said, "It certainly sounds painful. I mean, if childbirth is really so painful, I can only imagine what regrowing such large limbs must be like.My only concern is that he will refuse to allow me to become close to him. I assure you I shall only do my best to comfort him and shall never bring him harm, however without his cooperation there will be nothing I can do." Sighing and realizing he would simply have to go with what he was given, he added, "but I shall try my best. Is there anything in specific I should know that might give me an edge? What kind of food he likes, for instance?" Although it might be considered cheating, Ellion didn't want to risk screwing anything up with Raziel.
As they reentered the room, Ellion smiled at Kai and said, "I'm going ot miss not being able to see you mature, so you have to promise me you'll visit if you ever come back down to earth. Of course, stay with you mentor and be more careful next time," he cautioned, not wanting either of them to be captured on a return trip. It would be so much more hassle trying to find and retrieve them if something like that did happen. Of course, Azrael had come down once on her own without incident, so he trusted she would be able to return with Kai in toe a second time in the same way. "I hope your trip is pleasant," he added awkwardly, not knowing what it would be like when they returned; whether they would simply fly off or otherwise by a beam of light be transported there.

“I have no idea what child birth is like for I have never helped sire a child, but it is truly painful. The wings will rip through the skin. Just remain as you are with him, already by giving into his demand you have made an impression, by demanding something back you have shown him your strength. Raziel once he is settled will become curious, don’t lock him up but I recommend he not come in contact with any other humans in your service. Perhaps allowing other angels under your guard to converse with him will allow him to adjust and question those outside of yourself.” Azrael explained, she smiled at the question of what could give Ellion an edge. “He has a sweet tooth, he has tasted very few human foods, fruits over vegetables. Honestly hes like a child with those, he also enjoys reading, I believe he read every scroll we had.” Azrael confided still giving a sly smile.
Kai looked up as Azrael and Ellion re-entered the room. He had been speaking with Raziel and the male angel seemed to come out of his shell while doing so. They had been speaking about the things Kai had discovered outside, all of it amazed the two angels but when Ellion re-entered Raziel silenced himself. “Okay I promise.” Kai said a bit sing song like. “You have to take good care of my teacher though, promise?” Kai questioned. Once the young angel had received the response he bounced over to his guardian. “See ya soon hopefully.” Kai exclaimed smiling. Azrael nodded to both men in turn before stretching her wings and summoning her magic. The almost suddenly they were gone.
Raziel had been pleased to see Kai. The moment the young angel had been close enough he had checked him over making sure no feather had been pulled and no injury had been given. Satisfied with what he found he began to speak with the youngling until the human and Azrael had re-entered. While he was still wary and frightened of the human he had definitely noted he hadn’t harmed the youngling. Watching said youngling ask the human to promise to take care of him had the male angel embarrassed. Once Azrael and Kai had gone Raziel lay back down on the bed. “Thank you…” he said softly.

Waving as the two left, Ellion pouted slightly and crossed his arms across his chest as soon as they were gone. With the two of them having left, he was stuck with nothing but Raziel. While he pitied him and was sorry for the things humans had done to him, he also found the man's dark attitude bothersome, and hoped that things would change quickly enough for him not to regret having kept him there.
Clearing his throat a bit, Ellion said, "Well, I suppose I should just let you rest now. When you're hungry, please let either me or one of the serv...er, one of the angels in the house know," he checked himself, remembering what Azrael had said about keeping him from other humans. "Feel free to speak to any of the angels in the house, but please do try to avoid contact with the human servants. A recent...incident has given me reason not to trust all of them completely." Choosing his words carefully, Ellion tried not to bring up any interest in the topic, seeing as he didn't want to make matters worse with Raziel's distrust.
Collecting himself again, Ellion mentioned, "When you're well enough to walk again, I'll show you dowstairs. Unfortunately, there won't be much for you to do around the house in terms of keeping yourself entertained, however I do have a rather large study downstairs, complete with a library. If it's to your liking, you may visit it whenever you like to read and lounge," he mentioned casually, not wanting to give away that Azrael had tipped him off. "If there isn't anything you need for the moment, I suppose I'll be leaving you to yourself, then," he said offhandedly, wondering how the two of them would be able to get along once things settled down. Later he planned to tell the angels of the house of the new arrival and ask them to be quiet about it. While he probably wouldn't be able to keep it from the human servants forever, he could certainly try.

Raziel opened his eyes curiously when the human cleared his throat. “You have more of y kin residing here?” Raziel questioned surprised but not at all accusingly. He was further surprised that the human practically gave him the ability to question his kin about him to find out everything bad this human had done. Then giving him permission, or advising him to stay away from the humans of the house other than himself. It had Raziel’s mind reeling in further surprise. Down stairs sounded intriguing but the male angel said nothing. The idea of nothing to do didn’t appeal to the male angel but still he said nothing until…
“A library? With books correct, do you have a lot?” Raziel questioned almost excitedly. If Ellion had known the angel before the other humans had gotten a hold of him he would have known that the excitable nature over the books was normal and expected of Raziel. Then quickly seeming to catch himself Raziel quieted down. “Would it be possible for me to have a book that I may read up here, it would seem awfully dull otherwise between resting.” Raziel pleaded almost timidly.

Wondering what Raziel thought about there being other angels in the house, Ellion explained, "Yes, I keep a good number of angels here. Although I expect them to work, I give the ones who do work wages just as my servants. In fact, I was recently considering switching all the servants in the house over to angels. That is, dismissing the humans and replacing them with angels. You see, although I do trade in angels, I don't take their feathers myself and I do my best to treat them well. For the most part I also only sell them to richer folks who I know will treat them almost as well. But I digress," he said, glancing to the side as he realized he had begun to ramble unprovoked.
Hearing the excitement in Raziel's voice, Ellion had to suppress a smirk. So Azrael had been correct in recommending books. "Yes, there are many books, both old and new. Some are dictionaries, encyclopedia, novels, textbooks, scrolls, poetry...anything you can think of, I probably have somewhere in there. You see, in my line of work there are only ever three places I need to be: the marketplace to purchase goods, here at my own house to sort and calculate, and at customers' houses to sell them those goods. As a result I find myself sitting around the house rather often and have begun collecting books to ease my occasional boredom. I do like reading more than sports or anything else I could think of filling my time with...it seemed only natural," he concluded, having never thought about his reasons for beginning his library in the first place.
With a smile, he said, "Ah, yes, a brilliant idea. What kind of book would you like? I'm certain we'll have something to suit your fancy. Yes, I can imagine it would be rather boring simply sitting around resting all the waking hours," he added with a frown, trying to think of what it would be like to be bedridden without the kinds of resources he was used to in life. "Of course, once you're able to walk you may make your way there yourself whenever you like. Anyway, let me go fetch one for you," he said as he left the room, carefully closing the door behind him.
On his way to the study, he passed a pair of angels and stopped them for a moment. Informing them about Raziel to a proper extent, he asked them to tell the other angels while keeping it from the human staff before making his way to the library and back upstairs.
"I do hope you like this one, it seemed fitting," he said, rechecking the title on the spine and hoping he had remembered the angel's request properly. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I believe there is some paperwork downstairs for me to tend to. I'll have one of the angels come check on you when it's dinner time to see if you're hungry. Unless you're hungry now?" he questioned, wondering when the battered angel had last eaten.

Raziel was surprised when the human told him that he kept a good number of angels and had them work for wages just like any other human in his service. At the remark of switching all servants from any human to angels also surprised the male but the biggest surprise came in the fact that the man said he did not harvest the feathers of the angels in his care. “You don’t use our feathers?” Raziel questioned showing his surprise. “How do you keep such a lovely home then?” he continued to question a bit more suspicious.
Hearing of all the books made Raziel’s mind reel. He wanted to read, he wanted to be able to move without any pain so he could visit such a wondrous place. The fact that the human had so many books intrigued him and for a fleeting moment he thought of discussing his own readings with the man. “Any book would be nice, I don’t really have a preference. I enjoy learning from them seeing how the author views the world around them.” Raziel explained softly. When Ellion told him he could visit when the library whenever he pleased when he was better the male angel’s head shot up with hope.
Watching the man leave to go fetch him a book left the male angel to his thoughts once more. This time they were not so dark. He could see himself living comfortably here in Kai’s place if the human was true to his word about the happenings around the place and allowing him to visit the library as often as he wanted. The male angel also knew that humans had more rules than they let on and he knew he would have to push the boundaries of the humans rules to see how far he could go.
Raziel gave a start of surprise when the man re-entered not knowing he was there until he spoke. Raziel took the book gently almost as if he was caring for an infant. “Thank you.” He whispered once more. “Please don’t let me keep you from your work. I am alright.” Raziel said softly settling back down against the pillows giving a soft sigh of relief as his muscles relaxed.

At the angel's question towards his home, Ellion explained with a smile, "I do good business. My customers are loyal and even richer than myself, meaning I do a great deal of business with the same people on a regular basis, and a good business relationship leads to higher profits and more recommendations to other possible customers." having studied business from a young age, Ellion knew most of the ins and outs of having a good business turnover and was rarely out of the loop when a new product became popular. "On top of that, I'm quite stingy myself when compared to others of my social class. For example, I'm much more likely to have an old suit repaired or refitted rather than buying a new one, which saves a lot of money in the long run," he added, wondering how much the angel understood of finances on earth.
Bowing as he prepared to leave, Ellion repeated, "Just ask one of the other angels if you ever need anything or want to know something. I'll be downstairs in my study working until dinner." Shutting the door gently behind him, Ellion gave a sigh of relief. From the looks of things his introductions with the teacher had gone well, and it seemed as though he had gained at least a pinch of his trust for the moment. So long as there were no incidents to change that, they should get along rather well, he thought. Heading down to the study to tend to the day's paperwork, Ellion continued to think to himself about the possibility of replacing the human staff with angels. Of course, simply dismissing them all at once without a good reason would cause trouble, and perhaps even rumors amongst other humans.
Continuing to ponder the subject even as he ran numbers, filled orders, and responded to letters in the solitude of the library, Ellion finally came to a decision. If he could, he would find out who had harmed the angels and fire them on reason of damaging his property and goods. Anyone he felt had done well and was at least trustworthy, he might recommend to some of his customers to hire, if they seemed to be in need of filling a position. it might take a little longer, but spreading out the removal of workers like that would certainly be more subtle. It would also give him more time to fill the emptying positions with new purchases from the marketplace. It would be unfeasible to buy such a large number of angels all on one day, equally difficult to integrate that many into the household, and even worse not to have the hands around the house he needed if he couldn't.
After about an hour passed without interruption, Ellion set down his pen and cracked his back. Rubbing his neck, he looked over at the large clock hanging high above the floor. 'Just a few minutes until she comes around, he thought to himself, knowing the servant who always took his order for dinner would come knocking. When she finally did, he gave her his request, but said, "I have a guest upstairs who will also need to be fed. Let me go ask him myself what he would like, I should be checking how he's doing in any case," he said, adding before he left, "Tell the chef to prepare something sweet for desert, enough for two." Without explaining further, he went upstairs himself and made sure to knock before entering his own room.
Smiling at Raziel as he entered, he said, "It's time for dinner, what would you like?" After getting the angel's response, Ellion stepped out for a moment to inform the servant girl before sending her off and returning to his guest. Turning the only chair in the room so that they could face each other, something finally occurred to Ellion. "Ah yes, now that Kai is gone, you may stay in his room from here on out. I'm sure you'll be more comfortable with a little privacy," he added, a little disappointed they would not get to share his bed as he had hoped. It would be better, though, to point this out now and gain his trust rather than try later to explain why it had taken him so long to think of it. "How is the book?" he asked, wondering how much he had gotten through.

Raziel listened carefully as the human explained how he could live so well off without the use of angel feathers. A lot of what the man was saying didn’t quite make sense to him, he knew a bit about humans way of fiancing their lives before they had known about the power behind angel feathers but he didn’t think anyone followed that now. “I will.” He conceded when he was told to ask another angel if he needed something.
When the human left Raziel gave a curious smile, the human might prove interesting. The man hadn’t locked away his magic yet and even though it was weak because it was rebuilding his wings within him he could still use it to hurt the man should he attempt to harm him like the other humans had. However so far it looked like he would not need it and it made him quite a bit relieved. He would test the human he decided after he had healed when he would be able to dodge more readily. Settling down his thoughts he opened the book with a smile and began to read.
Unaware of the passing time he was half way through the book when Ellion re-entered the room. Raziel sat up looking a bit confused as Ellion entered the room explaining it was time for dinner. “Something light would be best I think.” Raziel answered watching as the man gave an order to a servant girl by the door. “I am able to have my own room in your home. That is very generous of you, thank you.” Raziel replied almost automatically.
“The book is wonderful. I fear I am halfway through it though and shall probably complete it soon after I have eaten.” Raziel answered before worrying his lip. He wondered if it was too much already to ask the human to fetch him another book so that he may continue reading once he had finished the book in his hand. While going down to the library and reading a book there was one thing it was an entirely different thing to remove the book from its resting place. He truly did not feel up to walking very far if he had to walk at all at the moment. Every portion of his body ached and while he was nearly healed from his own magic and from Azrael’s he knew it was better to just rest for the night. He would be alright to explore in the morning after some sun.

Noticing Raziel's odd response to the suggestion of a room change, Ellion explained, "I thought it would make you more comfortable, if nothing else. Since Kai isn't here any longer the room is free, but the bed should still be made and everything cleaned. I hope it suits you," he added, wondering if there was something about it the angel didn't like.
Smiling at the mention of the book, Ellion said, "I've still got a bit of work to tend to after dinner, so would you like it if I brought another book up for you? I can have a servant return them whenever you're finished, so I don't mind." Wanting to allow Raziel access to the library's perks even though he could not yet make it there himself, Ellion wondered if it would be better to have one of the other angels bring books to and from his room instead of doing it himself. Regardless, he knew he would find this man in the library almost as often as he was there himself once Raziel was back on his feet.
When dinner was brought to the room, Ellion checked to see who had come and was relieved to see another male angel. "Yes, come in," he said, beckoning him to enter as Ellion went to move a small table between the bed and his chair. Having their dinners set down upon it, Ellion dismissed the other angel with a thanks before adjusting the table once more and taking a seat. "I hope you don't mind if we eat in here. I normally eat in the study when I don't have guests, but I figured it would be nice for the two of us to eat together, since we just met earlier today." Repressing a shudder when he thought of where they had found Raziel, Ellion began to eat his meal with careful attention to manners, not wanting to seem sloppy or barbaric.
In-between bites, he asked, "Since you're a teacher and you like books so much, have you ever written any yourself?" Wondering how common a practice it might be in heaven compared to earth, Ellion was reminded of his own wish to write a few new books. "I don't mean to be a bother, but the other day when I was searching my library for books on angels, I noticed a marked deficiency in material. I was thinking of possibly writing one myself, seeing as angels are so common these days, yet seem to be so poorly understood by us humans." Not wanting to request help in writing the book just yet, Ellion simply concluded with, "I was just wondering if it was a good idea or not. Perhaps an increased availability of information would help bring humans around and get them to stop acting like such fools. Though I know it wouldn't do much..." he ended with, seeming somewhat disappointed by the fact.

“Don’t misunderstand me; I am grateful for a room to myself. Before when the other humans had me I was sharing…a room with others who were in quite the same condition as myself.” Raziel answered Ellion’s attempt to soothe what he assumed Ellion had thought was a doubt. He was grateful for a room of his own, he had thought however he would be sharing once more but a room to himself would give him the chance to think without interruption.
“Another book, really that would be wonderful.” Raziel said smiling softly. The thought of gaining another book to read without having to fetch it himself at the current moment was a happy thought. The knock at the door kept Raziel from saying much more. Seeing another angel relieved him, he quickly scrutinized the angel finding that there was nothing wrong with the man. He watched the angel leave merely nodding as Ellion explained why they were eating in the bedroom instead of in the dinning hall. “You really do take care of my kin here.” He muttered still surprised.
“No I have never written a book. You want me to write a book on my kind so humans no our ins and outs or you want me to help you?” Raziel questioned shrinking back. He didn’t like this idea one bit, it would mean that humans would know all the more ways to harm his kin. Humans were cruel creatures seeking to possess whatever they should not. “Your right it would do anything but cause more pain for angels.” Raziel growled.

Glad at first that Raziel seemed to appreciate the hospitality, Ellion wondered if they wouldn't be able to get along just fine the way things were. However, a moment later, the angel put his defenses right back where they had been.
Sighing, Ellion said, "I haven't asked you to do anything. I was merely asking your opinion on an idea and wondered if you had ever written literature yourself. If you're really so against the idea of a book being written about angels, I'll just put the idea to rest." Pausing for a moment as he chose his words, Ellion finally said, "I understand that you've been mistreated at the hands of humans since you arrived here, but I really wish you wouldn't take it out on me." Giving up on the pleasantries for the moment, Ellion decided it would be best to put his feelings out there from the get-go.
"If you just get it stuck in your mind that all humans are alike and that all any of us want to do is abuse and take advantage of your kind, it's little better than a humans seeing the angels as nothing but tools and possessions. I know these two things have there differences, but they are both rooted in a blind ignorance which perpetuates nothing but hatred and dissent," he said before stopping himself. Not wanting to continue ranting and risk making an even greater enemy out of Raziel, Ellion bit his lip to keep himself quiet.
"Forgive my blathering," he said in a subdued voice, feeling as though the spirit had been sucked out if him. While it had been important to him that Raziel understand his position on such things, now that it had been said there was no way for him to take any of it back and it made him feel a bit brutish to have let his emotions get the better of him, especially in front of such an important guest. "I would just like for you not to see me through the suffering other humans have caused you. I'm different, I can assure you," he said quietly, not looking at the other's face.
Draining his cup of tea, Ellion rose and walked out into the hall. Calling on a passing angel, he asked for him to remove their dishes and bring desert in a few minutes. Returning to the room only momentarily, Ellion said, "I'll go get you another book while I'm up. We'll be having desert once I get back." Not expecting any kind of response, he merely shut the door gently before heading down to the study once more. Looking through the shelves briefly, he grabbed a book that had always stuck out in his mind as being particularly enjoyable. It was a novel based on an ancient myth involving talking animals and gods. Interestingly, it was one of the few literary adaptations which took a good deal of poetic license in adding characters and scenes that had not appeared in most retellings.
Returning to his room, Ellion said, "Here you are. I hope you enjoy this one as well," before setting the book down carefully at Raziel's side, careful not to get too close. hearing a knock, Ellion checked who it was before letting the angel in. Watching as he placed two slices of delicate cake and two fresh cups of tea on the table, Ellion felt himself a bit renewed, hoping Raziel had not been so offended by his previous outburst that he would hold a grudge. "I do hope you like it," he said with a gentle smile, referring both to the cake and the book. "I don't know how it will compare to what you have in Heaven, but I hope you'll enjoy it." Taking a small sip of his tea before beginning, Ellion made sure to take small bites, although it was his usual habit anyway not to eat too quickly if he could help it.

Raziel looked up a bit when Ellion said he hadn’t asked him to do anything and that if he thought the book was a bad idea he would put it to rest. Raziel got ready to exclaim that writing a book on his kind would only be detrimental when Ellion spoke again, chastising him. Anger swelled within Raziel for merely a moment before Ellion said that all humans weren’t alike and what he was doing was no better than the way humans saw angels. Raziel took pause even as Ellion continued speaking asking him to forgive his blathering. He could only nod for the moment as the man asked him not to see him through the pain and anger that others of his kind had caused him to feel.
Raziel didn’t look up as Ellion left the room he was lost in his thoughts. He had wronged the human, the man had done nothing but be helpful to him and he had accused him of working to hurt his kin. He had to apologize and he knew it, the human deserved such an apology. He just hoped the man would forgive him for what he had done and any future indiscretions. Raziel looked up as Ellion re-entered the room placing a book at his side. Before the angel could say anything there was a knock at the door and an angel was allowed in placing more tea and their desert on the table. Raziel gave a soft sad smile when Ellion said he hoped he enjoyed it.
“Human food is much different from what we have in heaven but I find it quite desirable.” Raziel answered. He remained quiet for a few moments allowing Ellion to eat and drink his tea. “I fear I must ask for your forgiveness even if I am undeserving of your forgiveness. I have not been myself since I have come to Earth but that is no excuse for my behavior. I have allowed my emotions and things such as anger and fear to cloud my judgment on you.
