Some kendari rangers sitting tight in the forest canopy tracked the reptilians with the sights on their thorn-longrifles. When the reptilians were within range, the rangers opened fire.

Several reptilians fell with bone-like spikes in their heads and gut.

The hybrids were strong, certainly, as Emma quickly found out when she physically manifested and received a burst of acid to the shoulder.
She cried out in pain, withdrawing into insubstantiality.

Alex hunkered down behind his shield as a large amount of acid spit was spat at him. He winced beneath his helmet as he heard the durable shield sizzle as it was rapidly corroded by the acid. He finally ditched the now practically worthless hunk of metal but not before removing the energy saber he had stored away in it.

The durability of these dragon-hybrids was quite astounding. If these creatures became units in the Dragonheart Empire, the Tri-Alliance would be in a heap of trouble. Worse of all, these mutated creatures retained their intelligence. Working in units, they tried to divide and conquer, singling out each of the intruders.

Alex removed himself from the cover he had entered after ditching his shield to attack once more. Only to get struck in the chest by more acid spit. It really was quite annoying. It seemed that the dragon hybrids were getting the hang of spitting their acidic saliva about. His chest plate bubbled and deformed as Alex quick removed it and started heading away from the fighting until he was more sure he'd be able to attack without getting consumed by acid.

The rangers changed positions when the reptilians spotted them. Acid shot up into the tree branches and burned through bark and leaves. The rangers moved nimbly and fired back down upon the reptilians.
The spikes whistled as they found their targets and knocked them down like pins.

Though their numbers were dwindling, the dragon-hybrids never lost sight of their goal: kill the intruders and then feast on their flesh!

Alex finally managed to rally himself. With blade in hand he fell upon the dragon hybrids much like an angel of death. More spit splashed against what remained of his suits armor as his blade and arm cannon tore apart the hybrids that stood before him.

Taking a few steps back Vivi moved an arm which was soon covered in the acid. Throwing a ball at them it exploded knocking them in various directions and causing a few trees to fall.

The kendari noticed the numbers of reptilians dwindling, but they did not relax just yet. The reptilians were still coming relentlessly, ripping apart any warrior unfortunate enough to be caught out in the open.
