I remember that I'd been away for a couple of weeks or so and came back to the mass rage just dispersing. I think it was Isi or Hairy linked me to some of the angriest posts. (Is it bad that even though I'm a mod I laughed hysterically?)
Looks like we're not as relaxed as bunch of fans as we might like to think! xd
Actually I don't think I ever thought that we were! I remember Ceribri's reaction to my Tennant-bashing when we first crossed paths burning_eyes - though I'm glad to say it all turned out friendly!
I'll message you my FB page Eirwyn and you can friend me! I've been linking up to a few ex-DW Guilders. Though, for all that Facebook is useful, I miss having a forum. Maybe we should start one elsewhere? I always think Gaia is too much work for the casual post-er of DW nonsense. That said, who wants all that work? Heh.

I think part of the problem with that April Fool's joke was that it was totally unplanned, and when things started spiraling out of control, the mods weren't in agreement as to when to put an end to things (for me personally, I tend to get annoyed if an April Fool's prank on some website goes beyond April 1st). That being said, I was the one who decided to alter the front page and change the names of the sub-forums, so... sweatdrop
Start a new (non-Gaia) forum? I dunno, don't most fans already go to one of the major ones like Gallifrey Base? Although the level of snark there can be pretty obnoxious at times.

and then my train got delayed so he like 'WATCH IT NOW OR I"LL SQUASH YOU WITH THI GIANT 1UP MUSHROOM AND DRAW FITHY ARTWORK'

SO WE WATCHED IT
AND IT WA AMAZING LAKFJLAKJRLKJRLKEJREKSJR
expect lots of wonderfuls from me in the future, i'm feeling a econd wind for the fandom coming on...

this confirms the theory that i am in fact the eleventh doctor in disguise. He is a potato, who likes fezzes. I am a potato who likes fezzes.
