"Well, yeah, having a cat run up and tell you that you're a super hero is pretty weird," Merope muttered under his breath, before jumping at Eskimo's touch. At her question, he shook his head. "I dunno. We just came up against a youma that didn't die until we worked together, and now this guy is asking about where we came from. Or something like like." Merope replied, looking up at the taller senshi before nodding towards where Kurma was -- or rather where he used to be. It took him a moment to notice where Kurma moved to, and even then the boy had tilted his head onto its side before he realized that doing so was silly and didn't accomplish anything except making Kurma look like he was going down a slide head-first.

"But..." He began, nudging Eskimo, "I don't understand him. I mean, I don't think you can be from somewhere else? Or at least. Uhm." Merope shook his head back and forth quickly. "Gah! This is too much! I can't understand it!" He wished he had some pictures or at least an interpretive dance to help him out here.

But in the mean time, he gestured to the other senshi present. "Someone else might have a better idea than I do. I'm really, really lost right now," he admitted unhappily.

Perseus had a hard time believing that the man floating upsidown in front of them had a boring bone in his body. The upset look on his face, however, read loud and clear to the senshi of illusion like there was something wrong with the way they answered. Where they all really missing out on so much? There were two eternals, one of them the priestess of dreams. A smattering of supers, and the rest seemed to be regular senshi, like herself. What mystery of the universe did he hold that they did not?

She frowned a little to match his own. Perseus did not like being out of the loop, and she also did not like the way that Europa had just looked at her like she was unintelligent. "I hate to ask the obvious, but seeing as you are currently defying gravity I think I should just be clear on what you mean." She paused, moving to tilt her head so they were more on the same level. Like meeting somewhere between, at least. "Are you implying traveling outside of earth or something of the like?" It was the only natural assumption, after his going on a rant about Europa's apparently crude use of the word 'outerspace' and then him putting the stress on 'out' in his sentence.

What exactly was this Kurma fellow getting at?

Castor couldn't resist looking at Nemesis. He really wanted to say some people didn't go around fighting their fellow senshi but he bit his tongue. Mostly because she was Nemesis, and would probably kick him in the balls if he even so much breathed in her direction. The second part was that him making the comment would be a sort of fighting and fighting in frot of some floating dude who was talking about space and cats and s**t didn't seem like a super smart move. Castor could wait to talk to Nemesis about picking fights. And by wait that meant he would avoid her harder and let someone else talk to her. Preferably not anyone who would suffer the same fate he would.
His fears of Nemesis and her kicking abilities aside...
Castor looked at Perseus like she was kind of crazy. But not really. Space travel would be sort of kick a**. "I call bullshit." So eloquent. "We can't just up and leave earth to get to space." He rolled his eyes. "We're human and s**t, pretty sure we need you know, air to breathe. Space kind of lacks air." He raised a brow while looking at the empty space between man and earth. "And gravity." He wondered if he should call Atlas, because it was just flat creepy having some dude floating there.

Though he might have been a tad envious he couldn't float like that as well.

"Did anyone stop to think that maybe, if we really are all not from earth...apparently, we were here for a reason?" What that reason is she had no clue about, but this made sense to her in her head. "I mean why send so MANY of us here, it could be they just knew the negaverse would be here and we would be needed to defend the planet but.." Lyra bit her lip, knowing she was probably making as much sense to everyone else as she was herself. She chose to drop that thought.

"You'd think if there was a need, reason, or even a way to get off this planet... like if any of us actually knew how." She sent a look towards Europa, wondering if she DID know. "Someone would have shared the knowledge before now. After all, why learn if you can not share information with those around you. Seems selfish to me, to keep information only to yourself." She shrugged. "Almost as bad as being ignorant."

Maia frowned at the whole business of this impromptu meeting with Kurma the man who defies gravity. It was just to strange and Maia was becoming antsy because thus far unless it was a senshi meeting called to order and even then mostly nothing good came of a gathering like this.

"We do need air to breathe," she said in agreement with Castor, "we are human despite being senshi. Unless you are suggesting we need not breathe I do not see us leaving any time soon. Also as said we must be here for a reason."

Maia frowned at slights and looks throw at Europa. Lyra even seemed to act as though Europa was hiding information. Maia felt the need to defend her even if the comments may have geared more towards Kurma and even though she was half in agreement with girl.

She looked at the girl then Europa to , "I may have forgotten momentarily the fact Europa stated, but the fact that she and her team have been gathering and recording information is no secret, not that you suggest it is. No she, announced it to everyone at the meeting," she said in an even tone. It was politely spoken, but obviously not polietly meant.

Maia looked to Kurma once more eyebrow raised, "She is right however, information like your should be shared. Do you even know how to leave? I mean you are not even sure how you got here. Not that I wish to leave, or know how to, or even understand the importance of leaving ...," she stopped her talking briefly pondering her words. "In all honesty, it all is very confusing."

Listening to the play-by-play helped her, but only a little bit. Eskimo was still confused but she was starting to learn to just roll with it. She doubted that she was ever going to get a clear answer so she accepted it, and the floating thing. Even if he was upside down now.

The Senshi of Snow looked back over at Merope when she as nudged. "Maybe he's an alien? He doesn't look much like an alien though. Maybe he's wearing someone else's skin like that cockroach guy in Men in Black." She wrinkled her nose at the thought, she always hated that guy.

Her eyes flickered back to Kurma, go back to outer space? They wouldn't be able to survive unless..."Are we all going to become astronauts?" Her eyes lit up at that, she wouldn't mind being an astronaut.

So she'd just call it space, then. Europa felt Kurma ought to have given her the benefit of the doubt - even if she'd managed to piece together that she was really a warrior from outer space (couldn't the others spot an intergalactic police force when they saw one? They were practically the Lantern Corps!), she'd been born and raised on earth and spoke in human terms.

"No, I haven't figured out how to get there," she replied with a frown, both at her lack of knowledge and at his clear defiance of the laws of physics. How was he doing that? "It's not like we can go steal a space shuttle and even if we could, it wouldn't get us where you're implying we need to go. In truth, I hadn't gotten very far past the space aliens part - It was just a good guess."

It was enough to make her wonder, though. In this small group alone, they could make it hail, make it snow, make things louder, weaponize musical notes and trash can lids, and make it impenetrably dark. Add in Kurma's stubborn refusal to obey gravity, and surely someone at some point in the senshi's long and honorable history had figured out quick and easy space travel.

"Do you know the way?" she asked Kurma. He was acting smugly like he did - every other answer so far had been received like he'd already known it and was just teasing it out of them. "I mean, surely it's not something with rockets because it takes three days just to reach the moon. It would be impractical even for those of us connected to relatively near celestial bodies."

She stopped speaking, but kept her eyes trained on Kurma. The star student had found her teacher, and she wasn't letting him out of her sight.

-Kurma's trick was unnerving enough to draw Polaris back a step as he neared Europa, silently hoping he wasn't going to turn his attention to her. Listening to all the ideas and thoughts she couldn't help beginning to agree with the flustered feeling of some of the others. He was being cryptic.. whether on purpose.. she almost doubted it... he acted very much like a small child and if it was an act.. well he was pretty fabulous at it.

Something however hit her and she spoke up finally, hand swishing away a few ivory braids.- "Before we worry about going into space it would be nice to know why we would want to to..."

"I don't intend on running and hiding from the negaverse and now isn't the time for sight seeing trips. So unless we are hunting down new recruits from other plants for the battle.. or it would give us some new weapon we don't already have... then it seems like an unnecessary parlor trick."

All the whole floating business was starting to get to him. Of course, he leaped buildings and basically acted like a giant speaker, so it was a little hypocritical - but it was still starting to really get to him.

As what all this talk of outer space, really. It hadn't escaped him that they are named after celestial beings - his namesake was an asteroid, in fact (thank you, wikipedia), but all this thing... going back ?

"We're needed here." He said, softly, perhaps more to Bellatrix than to the group at large.

"What does it matter where we're from? We're all here now. As said - for a reason. Earth can't afford us going on some mass vacation in space." And like Castor said, gravity, air, breathing y'know? Though, for that matter, who was to say that those rules even applied while they were henshined up? If they could travel out in to space, who was to say as senshi that they couldn't somehow survive? if only for a short while?

NASA would s**t bricks.

Interesting Conversationalist

"I don't think he's trying to be vague," Pegasus half-replied to Nemesis in a mildly interested tone, having nothing really to say toward much of anything anyone else had said before that. It seemed that was really the only thing she had to add, too, because as soon as the last word was out of her mouth, the teal-skirted senshi went quiet again, resuming her position as the 'silent listener.' Beyond clearly trying not to be amused by Merope's initial comment, half-staring at Castor, (as was being a trend,) giving Maia a slow blink and Lyra a nod, she really wasn't reacting much at all. In fact, there was an interesting concentration on her part, as if she was trying to listen and do something else at the same time, like have another conversation.

At any rate, it was clear Kurma knew things. And that was worth keeping her mouth closed and her ears open for now.
PostPosted: Tue Nov 30, 2010 11:47 am

There was a moment's pause after everyone had their chance to reply, Kurma floating back into a right-side up position so he could address the entire crowd again. He was silent for just a little bit, apparently collecting his thoughts, before reopening half-lidded eyes and getting a good look at everyone.

"Here's the thing," he began.

"You guys are right... you're not from Earth. Or at the very least, you're not supposed to be." Kurma gave a quick nod to Lyra and the guesses she had made, before continuing. "The question is... why? I certainly don't know -- and in some circles, I could be classified as a 'they.'" He gave a little mischievous smirk at this. "But 'they' don't always know everything. No one does. However..."

Then he uncrossed his arms, rested a fist on his hip and held the globe up with his other hands, and flashed another of his rapidly-becoming-familiar grins. "I think I know enough to know what needs to be done. You've all lost your way, and forgotten who you really are, which is understandable and happens to everyone sometimes. But now's the time to remember, you can't win this fight for good until you do. And there's no better way to solve this problem than start at the source." He peered down at the crowd once again, and gave an uncannily sage nod.

"I think it's time for a little change of scenery."

And before anyone could ask another question or make another protest, they were all enveloped by an enormous pulse of blindingly golden light, that swallowed them up and yanked the ground out from beneath their feet. There was an incredible, strange sensation -- hard to properly put to words, but some would later describe it as like being nowhere, and yet everywhere all at once -- but after the blink of an eye it was gone, and they had all emerged...

...somewhere.

The first thing they registered was the stillness. There was not a noise, not a breeze, not a breath, not a single sensation at all, not even the feeling of the air pressing down around them that they'd never noticed was there until they were met with the sudden absence of it. It was quiet... it was gloriously, incomprehensibly, terrifyingly quiet. There was still no ground for them to stand on. It felt, for a long, confused moment, like they were all in purgatory.

But then, one by one, they remembered to open their eyes, and the sights there were to take in were endless.

This was nothing like what they had seen in textbooks, on documentaries, in observatory displays or even through the lens of the Hubble telescope. They say nothing could compare to seeing something in person -- and all around them there were thousands, millions of stars glittering in true three-dimensional splendor with no horizon to interrupt them. There was a massive, sparkling arm of the Milky Way painted in a masterful brush stroke of blue and purple hues, and --

"You guys should try looking behind you."

Those who did would be greeted by the sight of the Earth itself: enormous and minuscule at the same time, swathed in its trademark hues of green and blue, the misty net of clouds visibly swirling over its surface. If they had any doubts about what had just happened or where they were, that would serve to dissolve them entirely.

The answer to everyone's questions about how this all was supposed to work in the first place: ******** the rules, we have magic.

"Shut up, Pegasus." Oh, if that wasn't the very definition of fondness. It could have been a whole lot worse, but Nemesis bit her tongue for the most part. She rolled her eyes at her team captain, her fingers impatiently curling into the sleeve on her arm.

Nemesis' attention wasn't focused on the other senshi in the group, she could give them all a glance-over and give them a one word label in her head, but that was the extent of it. She'd rather focus her attention on the gravity-defying man. She might have been just slightly jealous. Bitches, she wanted to be able to float in the air. It'd make things so much more easier. Just think of the advantages she would have over grounded enemies!

"What?" she blurted out, a stubborn expression settling into her face. She wasn't going anywhere, especially not with some dude she couldn't wrap her mind around. That was it. She was staying put. Pegasus could go frolicking with Kurma, and tell her what happened when she got back. In the end, it was very obvious that Nemesis just did not have a choice in the matter.

She felt as if a rug had been tugged out from underneath her feet, her eyes screwing shut to block out the intense golden light. Already she was feeling disoriented. Her body wasn't mean to move like this, she was supposed to tell it where to go. Go back.

Somehow willing it to happen just didn't work.

"Hoollyy ******** ********." It seemed, that by some miracle, someone had actually managed to shut Nemesis up. The Senshi of Decay opened her eyes, staring around her in pure awe. This wasn't physically possible, it just wasn't. How was she breathing? She certainly wasn't in any goddamn space suit.

And oh, look, she got her wish. She was floating. It wasn't quite exactly how she wanted it, but she'd take what she could get.

Nemesis glanced over her shoulder, blue eyes widening as she saw the Earth behind her. Logic said that she should be getting sucked in by a gravitational pull, but she had given in to the truth that logic just didn't apply anymore. Hell, it hadn't applied to anything since the moment she had become a senshi. Logic didn't exist. Nemesis was just going to accept things as she saw it.

And she was in ******** space.

One second they were all in this dark alleyway... talking with the floating man orb thing, and the next...

"Holyshit." She said, swearing... which if anyone really knew Lyra, it was something she didn't do all that often. A golden light engulfed them, something similar to the light that had changed them into senshi in the first place. It was warm and comforting at first but... it was quickly followed by a sickening feeling. It felt as if her body was everywhere, blanketing the entire earth and universe... causing her stomach to twist and turn and knot up. It took everything she had not to embarrass herself and hurk up her lunch, thankfully... she didnt.

The feeling was gone almost as fast as it arrived... thank god. She folded her arms over her stomach as the sensations remained and gradually lessened her stomach ache. "Errgg... what the hell was that fo-" And then she saw it. Her eyes flew open in awe as she got a look at her surroundings, for the first time since meeting Kurma... she was speechless. Space... They were...floating in outerspace... breathing somehow... and not being crushed by the blanket of black. The stars around them were abundant, nothing you could see from the city nights. She felt as if she was in one of those documentaries... you know, the space shuttle ones?

"Holycraphowdidyoudothat!... and why are we not dead?" She said without taking time to catch her breath between words. She went back to being quiet, placing a hand over her mouth in fear that she had a limited breathing supply. The earth below her was also causing her to pause while she stared, this was the planet she was 'born' on... could they all truly not belong here?

You've all lost your way Kurma said. and forgotten who you really are.

But that made no sense. He was Xavier. He was Themis. They were two and yet one. Even as Themis, it was Xavier underneath. Right ?

Before he could vocalize this in a way that slightly less giving of his normal identiy, something happened. A bright golden glow took over his vision, forcing him to close his eyes and made him yelp in surprise. Just as quickly, the ground was gone from below his feet.

More accurately, he was no longer standing where he'd just stood a second ago. There was only silence here, and the Senshi of Noise definitively felt out of his element, out of everything he'd known and accepted as reality.

It was only when he finally dared to open his eyes that he truly realized that he was no longer standing on the sidewalk - in fact, he was no longer standing at all.

He was floating. And it wasn't because someone had turned gravity off.

He was floating among an endless sea of stars.

This wasn't possible, couldn't be possible, it simply couldn't - a part of his consciousness wanted to cling to what he knew and not to what he was seeing - he couldn't be floating in space, couldn't be alive while doing so, couldn't, couldn't, couldn't...

It was only when he turned - more like twirled in mid-air, sending the already foating end of his coat swirling behind him - that his brain finally shut up. Before him was... Earth. A blue and green jewel that adorned the sea of stars that was the milky way.

Themis wasn't particularly religious, yet the first words that came out where nothing less than "Oh, my god."

Apparently, somewhere in transition he'd forgotten about being scared shitless.
