Alexis turned her brown gaze toward Derek as he walked up. Her brown eyes were emotionless as she stared at him. She listened to him and tilted her head. He rode? She hadn't expected someone like him to ride. She had thought he wouldn't want to spend two seconds in a stable. Well, this was... surprising. She glanced at the people watching them, shooting them death glares. Couldn't people here mind their own business? They had nothing to worry about, especially the stupid girl. This was only a project and afterward they would go back to not speaking at all. Alexis turned her attention back to Derek and pushed her hair out of her eyes. "Well, as much as I would love to go to your family's stable to work on the project, I don't think we can swing it. You see, one of my horses, Penny, gave birth a few weeks ago and the filly, Twilight, is really weak. I have to check on her and take care of her everyday and it might make getting to the other side of town difficult. Fortunately, in the woods behind my house, I have a few secret places that only I know about. It's quiet, peaceful, and totally hidden. We can work there, as long as you don't mind borrowing one of my horses,"s he explained calmly.

Derek nodded, his eyes slowly going from blank to understanding. He completely understood what Alexis was doing; he had the same problem with one of his mares. Jas's mom, actually. Derek listened, then nodded in understanding. "I understand. My horse, Jas, was the same way. She was very weak as well, and I understand your concern. I was the same way with Jas, actually," Derek said with a small, strained laugh and a small smile. He rubbed the back of his head, smoothing his hair like most guys do when they're nervous. Derek wasn't at all nervous around Alexis, he just didn't want his brother coming back and seeing them. Who freaking cared if the people in the halls saw them? They had no way of telling! Derek held Alexis's eyes, then lowered his bag to the floor. "Uh, if you give me directions, I can meet you near your stable, if you want. But I don't know how I'll get there, because I'm usually at the stable for two hours- but my parents expect me home in three hours. I have a show next weekend that I stay an extra hour to practice for," Derek admitted, his eyebrows knitting together. He honestly had no idea how he could get his big ole truck to the Storm's place without being noticed. It was virtually impossible! ╔══════════════════╗ XCheck yes Juliet

Alexis smiled slightly as he mentioned his horse, Jas. So, he raised his own horse. that's a very big surprise. She had expected him to have his parents buy some really expensive horse that is already fully trained. At least he would understand her need to care for little Twilight. sighed and ran her fingers through her hair. There had to be some way to get Derek to her place without either of their parents noticing. She knew her father was out of town for the rest of the day, looking for a job, and her mother normally spent the afternoon in town with her friends. So there shouldn't be anyone home, unless Allison decided not to go to cheerleading practice. Then again, it might be hard to miss Derek's truck in their driveway. There had to be someway for them to get Derek to her place without anyone noticing. As he mentioned directions, Alexis smiled."You won't nee directions. My stables is on the other side of the street from you, she said calmly and glanced over her shoulder, watching the last of the students head outside. She really didn't care who saw them together, half the school probably knew by now that they were working together on a project. One thing she had learned at this school, were that rumors spread very quickly, especially when it had to do with Derek or any of his friends. The brunette reached into her pocket and grabbed her keys calmly. "If you want, you can leave your truck here and you can ride to my place with me," she offered holding up her keys. Of course, Alexis drove a motorcycle, not a truck, but it might be the only way to get Derek to her place without anyone knowing. Besides, as long as he held on then he should be fine and Alexis was fairly sure she had a spare helmet. If she didn't, then Derek could have hers and she'd ride without one.

Derek thought this over. If he rode with Alexis, it would be reeeeeeally awkward. But he couldn't exactly tell his mom or brother he was home early! Hmm. . . Maybe he could. He'd go home early, saying that Jas has already been worked, and he wanted to let her rest. It would seem normal, because his horse's needs always came first. And Derek gave his instructor permission to ride her. Derek's mom wouldn't bother talking to Pam, who was the manager and Derek's instructor. The boy performed at competed at top level professional shows, but still had lessons. The boy was surpringly humble enought o know there was always something more to learn. Always. Until you die. Derek decided that's what he'd do. "Thanks, but I think I can manage getting out of my house without my parents being suspicious. Where do you want me to meet you?" Derek asked, his voice calm and even, and his face the same. He fingered his keys in his pocket, a bad habit of his. He had really wanted to see Jas today, with the show only two weeks off! He'd have to make up for it tomorrow. Besides, it wouldn't be too bad for Jas to have a day off. In fact, it'd be good. Derek looked at Alexis, his face cool and collected. His bag sat on the floor next to him, and he could swear he heard the clock ticking behind him, it was so damn quiet! The Drake boy now missed the bustling halls. It was just so wierd, so new, standing here and working together with a Storm girl! Derek vowed to keep everything quiet. No one in his family could know, not even his younger brother! Derek met Alexis's eyes calmly, waiting for her response.

It was the one class he didn't really have to talk much in. And he loved it. Nate had just started on this art project and for once, he was excited. Nathaniel smiled and headed for Madelyn's locker. He walked up from behind her and gave her a hug. Nate walked to the front of her. "Did you drive here or get a ride?" he asked. If she got a ride, then he could give her a ride home. But if not... no chance of that.
Nathaniel let his thoughts drift... One day, if he thought that Madelyn had changed and could keep a secret. Then he might show her some of his favorite spots that he went to with his dog. The day had been long and had drained most of her energy out of her. She spun the dial on her lock and yanked it open. She put most of her books back and then took some out that were from this morning. She locked her locker door and yanked on the lock to make sure it was shut. She turned to Nate and said, "I drove myself this morning. But if you want you can follow my car home and then we can drive to your house together. Or I could drive home and just meet you at your house. I'm fine with either one," she said as they started walking down the hallway together.

He was glad that school was finally done for the day. The one thing that made him a bit happier at the end of the day than most, was that he had one of his favorite classes last period. Nate went through some great lengths to see to that. He looked at her. "I guess it could depend. DO you like convertibles? or the blue variety?" Nathaniel asked, almost teasingly. For some reason he was in a teasing mood today. At times he almost envied Derek, he had a little brother to tease. Nate had no younger siblings. He'd been trying to get his parents to adopt. But apparently that was out of the question. Nate sighed and let his mind drift to his art project. okay, I need more colors that's for sure. Plus I'll need some new pastels, more frames, charcoal.... Nathaniel mentally listed the things he'd need to get. She had cheer practice today and she was in no hurry to get there. She liked cheerleading, well more like loved it, but she just wasn't in the mood for it today. She set down her things in her locker before pulling out her gym bag which had her cheer uniform. She looked at the small mirror hanging on the locker door and saw that she had a few bags under her eyes. She had to stay up late the past few nights just to catch up on her homework. Thank god today she didn't have too much so she could get some rest. She took a hairtie and pulled her hair into a ponytail before slamming her locker shut. That was one way she released her stress, even though it didn't really help that much. She sighed and slung her gym bag over her shoulder before walking down the hallways and heading to the gym locker room.
She had passed by Nate and Madelyn, but her head was hanging down and she didn't even notice them. She had her hands in her pockets before she opened the door to the gym locker room. She was instantly greeted by the girls on the cheerleading team and she put on the one of kind fake smile. It was so funny how no one could ever tell if she was happy or faking it. Maybe she was just that good of an actress. She found herself a gym locker and then began changing. She listened to the mindless chatter and gossip of the girls around her, but she wasn't really that interested today. She just drifted off into her own little world and began remembering parts of her favorite romance novel. Allison was always such a hopeless romantic and everyone could tell. She was just in love with the idea of being in love. During practice, she had messed up a few times. She might've gotten off balance or she bumped into someone. She just wasn't focused. Alexis nodded and grabbed her bag. "Alright, you can meet me outside the stables. I'll leave the gate to the driveway open for you and you can walk right up. You'll see the stables as soon as you walk in," she told him and swung her bag over her shoulder. part of her was telling him she was being way too friendly to him, inviting him to her house? What was she thinking?! Though, she couldn't take it back now. Besides, it wasn't like she had a choice, her horses always came first. The only good thing was that no one would be around, just Derek and her. Alright, that sounded really weird. In fact, everything felt weird, talking with him, working with him, taking him to her secret places. The world just seemed totally out of order today. With a nod, the brunette turned around and jogged to the front door. she couldn't wait to get home to see the horses, they were her only friends. Alexis spent most of her time in the stables talking to them. Many people found it sill, but Alexis felt like her horses could understand her at times. They always seemed to know how she was feeling. She walked through the school doors and headed quickly down the steps, taking two at a time. She headed straight for her black motorcycle and put her helmet on. Making sure her bag was securely on her back, Alexis revved the engine before turning around in the parking lot. The only cars left in the student parking lot were Derek's and hers. It made it much easier to get out without there being dozens of cars. Alexis pulled out onto the road before speeding toward her house.
The ride was short and Alexis stopped by the close gate. She stopped beside the key panel and quickly typed in the password. The gate slowly opened and Alexis drove in. Unlike normal days, the teen didn't press the 'Close' button for the gates, leaving them open instead. She quickly parked her motorcycle and then raced for the barn. Her father had spent a lot of money redoing the stables and it was very fancy. Alexis made sure to keep it well-kept and clean. As she pushed open the doors to the stables, the brunette was greeted with friendly neighs from the horses. Alexis smiled at the heads sticking over the stall doors and headed quickly to the end of the aisle, toward the larger stalls. She stopped at a large stall and looked over the door. A beautiful bay mare was nuzzling a small, skinny buckskin filly, as if urging her to stand. Alexis threw up the door quickly and went to Penny's side. Twilight had been having trouble standing since she was born, and she was almost two weeks now. The filly needed almost constant support when standing and was still weak. Alexis stroked Penny's neck softly, watching the mare nudge her foal urgently. Twilight tossed her head, neighing to her mother. Her front legs were stretched out and her eyes showed that she was tired. Alexis assumed that the buckskin had been tryign to get back to her feet for a while now. Alexis was worried about Twilight, she wnated the filly to make it through but her doubts were slowly growing. Her father had hinted at putting the small foal down, but Alexis ignored it each time. She wasn't giving up on Twilight, she'd pull through. She had to. Alexis knelt down beside Twilight and stroked the foal gently. "Hi baby girl. What's wrong, can't get back up on your feet? Come on Twilight, you have to. You're worrying your mom," she said softly and watched the filly's ears flicked toward her. The buckskin foal nuzzled Alexis softly and nibbled at her shirt gently. Alexis wanted to help Twilight, but the filly had to learn to stand up on her own, and soon. "Come on little girl, if you stand up you'll be able to reach your mother's tasty milk," she said calmly and gave the filly a slight nudge. Twilight neighed and tossed her head before rolling onto her side. It was clear that the filly was tired but Alexis knew she had to get up. Things weren't going good, it seemed that twilight was getting worse eahc day and Alexis felt her doubts growing.

Derek nodded briskly, pulled his bag up over his large shoulder, and turned around. He followed Alexis through the doors, but not close behind. He walked down the stairs a bit slower, and unlocked his truck. He quickl put his bag in the back, then shut the back door and climbed into the driver's seat. He plugged the key in and started the truck, the large Ford roaring it's engine to life. The midnight blue dually was extremely loud. Derek rolled down his window and flipped on the radio, Tim McGraw's Felt Good On My Lips playing on the radio. Derek looked behind him and and backed out, being quite easy since he was the only one left. He put it in third gear and rolled out of the parking lot, turning left instead of right. He drove through town, stopping to tank up with diesel at a gas station. Once that was done, he continued through town to the stables. He'd swing in and grab his saddle from there, since he rarely had time to clean his tack at the stable. Well, he did, but his mom would be suspicious if he came home with nothing but an excuse. The midnight blue Ford dually crested the hill to Meadow Ridge stables, a truly magnificent facility. Derek parked his truck, then hopped out. He jogged to the door and slowed to a walk, greeting the riders with a smile and each horse with a pat. He finally came to a stop at a large bay Thoroughbred's stall. Derek reached out to stroke the beautiful bay mare's nose as she nuzzled him. "Hey there, sweet girl. We're not having practice today. Sorry, Jas," Derek added, sorrow in his voice. He truly missed his daily excersises with his mare. He kissed her muzzle and hurried down to the tack room, heading and and then back out with a glorious Stubben saddle on his hip. A matching bridle was carried in his left hand. He hurried from the stable, not wanting to be questioned by Pam. She rarely did question him, but today was not one to start. Derek tossed his tack into the back seat of his truck, then hopped back in and started it. He roared back down through town, pulling into his driveway and parking.
Derek hopped out, leaving his tack inside. He pulled open the door and was immediately attacked by a playful black and white border collie. Laughing, he pushed the dog off of him. "Kiera! Cool it!" Derek exclaimed, laughing all the while. Derek stood again, looking around. His mother was in the kitchen. "Derek dear, why are you home so early?" his mother called. Derek smiled at pushed through the kitchen doors, Kiera at his heels. "Jas needed a break. She and I have been practicing nonstop, and I decided she needed a break. Plus, I have a ton of homework to do. I'm going to head down to Nate's to get some done with him," Derek explained as he hung up his long sleeved coat, covered in bay horsehair. His mom nodded. "Sure, honey. Just be home by seven!" Derek nodded in reply. He quickly gave his mother a kiss on the cheek and then walked back through the kitchen doors, giving Kiera a pat on the way out. The black and white border collie decided to hang around, see if any scraps would be "dropped". Derek pushed the front door open and hurried back out into his truck, starting it quickly. He backed out the driveway and started down the street, only to turn into the Storm's driveway. He followed the path until he reached the stable, parking it behind so no one would see. He turned off his truck and hopped out, closing the door quietly. He locked it from the inside, so it wouldn't beep and frighten the horses. He turned and shoved his keys inside his pocket, starting inside the stable. Derek spotted Alexis at the other end. Derek walked slowly to her, admiring the horses and stroking a few lightly. The Drake boy was really friendly with horses, and he was skilled, too. If Alexis wanted to make a fool of him by thinking she'd put him on a hors and fall off, she'd be in for a surprise. He secretly hoped there would be jumps along the trail, so he could prove her completely wrong. Shaking the thoughts from his head, Derek mentally scolded himself. He shouldn't be judging! Derek joined Alexis at the mare and foal's stall, eyeing the mare first, adn then the weak foal. "She's a nice mare. Strong and healthy. The foal's like her, I can tell," Derek said with a small smile. It was too weird! Working with Alexis, riding with her, seeing her horses. . . Too strange! Derek watched the mare, his eyes trained professionaly to spot flaws and strengths. The mare was truly a good mare; strong, healthy, and she had a good build. The foal seemed weak, but with time, she'd get better. She looked fragile, but to Derek, she seemed fairly strong. If only the foal would find her inner strength. . . Derek stopped analyzing the horses and focused on Alexis. He wanted to know what was going on and what they were doing. ╔══════════════════╗ XCheck yes Juliet

"Such a difficult choice," she said and paused for a second. They continued walking down the hallway. "You seem happier than usual today," she observed. "What you so happy about? Is it ....." She tried to think of a reason for why he would be so happy, but nothing came to her mind. "Uh ... I don't know." She frowned, but it disappeared from her flawless face. "You want to tell me? Or give me a hint at the least. C'mon," she pouted and gave him her best puupy-dog face, knowing it would work on him. Nate always had a good heart and he couldn't say "no" to her. Nathaniel told her mentally. "Oh come on. Do you always do that?" he asked her. But he continued. Nathaniel suddenly stopped walking and turned to face her. "Maddie... November, is... going... to..." he paused for effect, hoping to drive her crazy with curiosity. They had started walking again. They approached the steps when he said "have.... PUPPIES!!!" and then he whooped, punched the air and jumped down the steps. "My baby November is going to be a momma" Nathaniel said happily.
He turned around and looked at Madelyn, who had stopped at the top of the stair. Nate smiled. "Well? You coming or not? The sooner you get home, the sooner we can go to my place, and the sooner you can see November for yourself." he said, still smiling.
A light went on inside his head. gotta tell Derek!. Nathaniel thought and took out his phone.Derek:

I would've told everyone, but 1) there was so much drama today.

Madelyn gaped at him. She hadn't realized she stopped until Nathanial pointed it out. She blinked and trotted down the stairs. "November's .... she's ...." she was at lost for words. !!!! She could barely think straight. "Oh my god! Nate! That's amazing!" she exclaimed and she hugged him. "I'm so happy for you and November!" She broke the embrace. "Who's the father? When's she due? How many puppies? Oh my god!! That's ... oh my god!!" She still hadn't grasped onto the fact that November was pregnant. Pregnant, for crying out loud! Nate must be so proud! she thought, then mentally added to her things to do: GET A DOG OR BUY ONE OF NOVEMBER'S PUPPIES FROM NATE. That was, if he was selling them. Nathaniel was looking up at her when she finally came down. He smiled at her and nodded "I know!" Nate was kind of surprised when she hugged him, but he didn't protest. Nate wrapped his arms around her for a bit. "Well, I don't know yet who the father is. I only realized it just recently. You know, in the school, when I smiled like mad.
I didn't get that good of a look so I don't know when she's due. Or how many puppies. But I'm going to guess maybe... four? I don't know, I'll have to check." Nathaniel told her.
Nate smiled "I just texted Derek. Other than that. No one. I'm going to tell my mom when I get home.
Speaking of which, I think it'll be easier for me to follow you to your place. And then for us go to my house.
You can eat supper with us. If you're up for it" Nathaniel smiled. He couldn't wait to see November now. NATHANIEL's

And you made it so real} Madelyn smiled at him. "Cool. And if we don't do the english project, we could always say November was in labor!" she joked and stepped out into the cool autumn breeze. A leaf twirled by in the air and landed softly on the ground. "I'm really happy for you and November, Nate" she said as they headed out into the parking lot. Most of the spots were empty, but some of them were taken.
Madelyn walked to her car and Nate walked to his, only a few spots away. "Don't get lost!" she teased him. She smiled at him and slid into her car. She entered the key into the ignition. The car purred and she drove out of the school parking lot. She drove down the familiar roads and checked every once in a while to make sure Nate's car was following her. After a few minutes, she turned onto her street and pulled into her driveway. She slid out of her car and turned it off. She didn't bother locking it; she was only going inside for a few minutes. She walked back to Nate's car and motioned for him to role down the window. When he did, she said, "I'm just going to tell my mom I'm going over to your house. You're welcome to come in, if you want. Or you can sit and wait in your car," she offered. {You showed me something that I couldn't see
