Sea songs sound quite lovely, Tereth agreed, although really the brown was happy to listen to most any kind of music. Ah? Will you be working on that choir soon then? he asked, intrigued. The idea of a dragonic choir sounded like a rather fun one to him, even if His was not quite so eager to participate. He would come around though, he was sure of it. Ruby could probably help him convince Theirs on the matter.

magnadearel Wykla arched a brow. "Common consensus," she snorted. "Look where its gotten us." At the mention of company she looked around at all the people mingling and dragons watching from the sidelines. "Its more the decision." She moved a little closer to talk and watch the people without being too close. "I don't understand how they can trust him or what he offers. Why choose now to reveal himself?"
She glanced over at him. "I'm Wykla. This boy's Boreal. Who's your green?"Boreal crooned back as his green eyes whirled happily. Kazvar glanced at the crowds again, looking thoughtful before he answered, though that large and part made him look like a predator looking for a weak flank to assault. "Kazvar, and this is Star." He released the green, who shot through the air to whirl around showily for Boreal. "She was a gift." He explained, to answer any unasked questions on how someone like him ended up with something like Star. He paused again, wrinkling his nose as though the thought were distasteful, and then added. "...The Ancientcrafter's cunning. If he'd approached before the Weyrs knew how difficult it was to transplant and grow Mistweed, he'd have been brushed aside without discussion. Now they'll try their tricks, see if they work. Gives him a chance to be the man who will go down as the Ancientcrafter who legitimized the trade." That was how he saw it anyway, and if it was, it was a cunning move, if a risky one. If their glass houses failed, if the Mistweed didn't thrive, then it would be a potentially fatal blow to Ancientcraft, but if it succeed... He had everything to gain and what must seem much less to loose, given the crafts ragged reputation. "You don't think we should try it." This was less question and more statement, though Wykla hadn't exactly been vague in her opinions.

Mercy had been a bit later then allot of others in arriving - but she'd been mid way through one of her chores whens the Queens words had come through - and what a rush that had been! To hear a dragon and not just any dragon but the queen speak in your mind - sure it hadn't been personal per-say the dragon had spoken to everyone but Mercy still felt just a little bit special, I mean just to be here when something this pivotal was happening was amazing enough for Mercy.
When she arrived at the field she arrived to a rather large gathering and after pausing for a moment to get her bearing she made her way around the outside of the gathering to see what she could see and hear what she could hear.

F'ren smiled at S'kor, "I've been trying to avoid it, myself" he admitted. Despite his bravado and flirting, he had never really been serious about anyone to take that ... final step, and Toulonth Rising scared the crap out of him. He laughed a little as S'kagi explained about Luvith being mad. "it wasn't HIS Dragon was it?" he asked, implying B'nas "because you can tell Luvith she can do better than a scabby Benden Brown" he whispered, so as only to be heard by the Crimson rider.
B'nas frowned at Keela "It's said, no one seems concerned, IF they heard it" he muttered to her "Anyway, it's been four turns... at least for me" he switched his tone to change the subject "Milnth informs me your green is due to rise, is it not best to return to our Home Weyr" he asked, "i'm sure Milnth and i could... escort you" he chuckled, his tone full of flirting. If the gren just happened to be ready during the ... escort then Milnth would be first in line to chase.
Milnth rumbled amused again "I have no doubts dear Taith, i wont let any near you ... especially any NOT from our Weyr" he promised her, even if Flights were tricky things.
Zeren had originally decided that he would just lurk in his dorm. He'd felt so terribly small at the council speeches, against all the riders and the Weyrleaders and other important people across Pern. He'd assumed that Kazvar wouldn't attend either and decided to see how he was doing. He hadn't been back to see the man since....since the Gold's flight but he'd heard that his gift had hatched healthy. However knocking on his door was greeting only with the angry rumblings of a Wher being awoken. So he had taken a deep breath and headed to the gathering. Hovering in the doorway, just off to one side he looked into the crowd, trying to decide whether or not to go in, or go back to his dorm.

S'kagi:
"It was, she's upset because he stopped being interested so fast. It was pretty obnoxious." He admitted. "Even for a scabby Benden Brown." He added under his breath, with a grin. Even Luvith settled slightly, though her ruffled ego was not particularly soothed.
He's not even that attractive. She snorted, enjoying the sour grapes.
Neither's his rider, I'd rather him not catch you, even if he does run to Trine.
He wasn't sure how he'd feel if someone had actually flown all the way to Trine to follow him. It would be... flattering he supposed. But someone like B'nas... it made his skin crawl.

She grinned at the energetic green. "A pleasure to meet you Star. A friend and I came across a gold's nest as the eggs started to hatch." She gave her flit a quick pet of affection.
Her brow wrinkled in thought. "Yeah, I think they would have too. Can he really be trying to legitimize it though? What's the purpose?" She didn't like this one bit. If that came to pass..... what else could happen?
Wykla shook her head slowly to the statement. "It doesn't really have much going for it does it? Its blamed for all the bad stuff with thread. How do we know it isn't....." The girl groped for a way to express her thoughts, "isn't a tunnel snake in wherry hide?" Maybe it wasn't perfect, but would he understand?
Staring out over the group, she spotted two familiar people. She raised her arm and waved it wildly trying to get Mercy's and Zeren's attention.
Boreal sat back on his haunches to watch the green. He trilled applauding on her more daring stunts, that is until Wykla started to wave. Coming dislodged from his spot he cheeped and took flight.

"We don't know, but it would be a bad idea for them to offer us a poison fruit as an example of their wares." Kazvar admitted, scowling thoughtfully. "It's anything after this that we'll have to question especially. But really... why wouldn't they try and legitimize it? It's a joke of a craft. Piecemealing things together the way they -think- the ancients did it."
He blinked as she waved, lifting his chin slightly to search the crowd before he spotted Zeren approaching. He hadn't talked to him since the Goldflight, which, admittedly, hadn't been -that- long ago, but enough time had passed so that even Kazvar could guess that it had the potential for awkwardness.
Star chirped again, thrilled by the attention, and then immediately sought out the candidate who had attracted her masters attention, looping through the air to make sure that whoever had Kazvar's eye was paying attention to Kazvar, oh and her. Definitely her. She should always be part of the attention.

Wykla sighed and nodded. "I think you're right. Then we'll just have to be on our guard if everyone else wont." Her lurking was suited to watching and she could learn a lot that way. She made a mental note to keep an ear about for further Ancientcraft workings.
She waiting to see if the two had spotted her and watched the green flit. Star was certainly a chipper little flit. Boreal took off after the green and playfully tried to follow her flight.

A flash of movement caught Mercy's eye and she paused, spotting Wykla standing with someone else, smiling she waved back and started to head in that direction. She'd met Wykla when she first arrived at the Wyer and the other girl had helped her out a bit, she was far more confident in her life here now but things had been so very busy about the Weyr that she hadn't had much time to talk to the other girl - or anyone really for that matter.
She didn't know the person Wykla was standing with but that hardly stopped Mercy, coming up to the group she smiled in her typical cheerful way - though the other two looked decidedly not cheerful. "Hey" She greeted Wykla before introducing herself to the other man "I'm Mercy, I don't think we've met"

Zeren had missed Wykla's frantic waving, but a Green flit, almost exploding into his face got his attention, for once it wasn't Viska, he'd ordered her to stay with mud in his bunk with the boys. "oh! hello" he said to her, holding out his hand to her. That was until he caught sight of a grim faced Kazvar, who was currently ... Zeren was surprised.. and rubbed his eyes just to make sure he wasn't seeing things.... Kazvar was... Socialising?!. Nervously he made his way over and noted one of the people he was speaking to "Wykla .. hello" he said, turning to Kaz "Kazvar ... i'm .... it's nice to see you again .. so .. it hatched a green huh?" he said voice squeaking a little as his nerves got the better of him.

Kazvar looked like he'd had his foot nailed to the floor, and wasn't quite sure what to do about it, although this didn't seem to be directed at one specific individual. He actually looked as though he wasn't entirely certain -how- to look cheerful.
"...Kazvar." He offered, to Mercy. "I'm a wherhandler." He added this, as though picking the most unpleasent thing he could think of and tossing it into the ring, to see if the small gathering would scatter.
Star whirled circles around Zeren, chittering before landing back on Kazvar's shoulder and immediately stuffing her nose in his ear, making him jump as though he'd been burned, and raise his hand in a defending baracade to prevent her from doing it again.
"A very. Very. Cheerful green." He added, to Zeren, shooting star an exasperated look. "...She likes mornings." He added, since it was common knowledge, if you knew the slightest thing about Kazvar, that he, personally, was not fond of mornings.

JetAlmeara 'I like this fellow' Cheryth piped up as she looked at him with her faceted eyes 'It is good to look on the bright side of things in uncertain times' She continued in a pleased tone. 'It most certainly is' Ca'mil agreed. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well" Ca'mil told him "Cheryth says it is always good to look on the bright side of things" She summed up the Crimsons words "But your right, this get together has gone by quite peacefully, I suppose everyone realized the serious nature of it and behaved themselves" She added with a slight laugh. The question about flying was a relatively common one ca'mil had noticed, all candidates wanted to know what it was like, but it was incredibly hard to describe it and do it justice. "It's like nothing you've ever experienced" She told him "Dragons are meant to fly and in the air they truly shine, the fact that they share such an ability with us is fairly mind blowing the first few times, and then the shock over the fact that your actually doing it finally - after spending so much time getting from hatching to then - wears off and its fun, like something you do with your best friend, except so much deeper" She tried to explain it though she had a feeling her words fell a bit short. 'You did fine' Cheryth encouraged her. 'thanks love' Ca'mil responded before turning her attention back to the man in front of her "Have you stood on the sands before?" The young man shook his head looking embarrassed that he had not. "N..No, not y-yet...if I am allowed on t-the sands for Inaari and Ianath's c-clutch... I m-mean our Ju-junior wyer woman!" He corrected at the possible over familiarity he had shown. "I..it'll be a f-first for me, I'm e-excited t-to see who impresses, I'm s-sure they'll all be a-amazing r-riders too!"

Ca'mil nodded, looking sympathetic "I was terribly nervous when I stood on the sands" She admitted to him "But the most important thing to remember is to not show it, keep your head, watch out for the clumsier or ill tempered hatchings and be as confident as you can be" She told him "It should be a fine clutch, The junior Queen is a fine dragon and the Bronze who caught her large and strong"
'It is rather to bad that we'll be back home before any of this occurs' Cheryth remarked in a mournful tone - Cheryth loved hatchings, even if they had chosen to fight rather then clutch. "Cheryth is sad we'll be back home by that time, she's fond of hatchings" Ca'mil told him with a slight chuckle "But I'm sure you'll have many people here cheering you on"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mercy perked up somewhat - if that was really possible - at the man's words, far from being turned off by what some considered a less then great career Mercy was rather intrigued "Really?" She question in an inquisitive tone "What color is your Wher? Is it true they create their own language with you? There was one in the hold I grew up in but he wasn't comfortable in the presence of too many people so I never actually got to see him other then from a distance and generally at night" She chattered on in a friendly manner as Zeren joined them, effortlessly beaming a smile at the new arrival as well.

Wykla grinned a little as Mercy started right in. She held up her arm to call in Boreal so he'd stop making loops over their heads. Listening to Mercy ask the wherhandler the color of his wher, she turned to Zeren. "How have you been? What do you think of all this?" Her hand waved vaguely at the crowd. "Did you give Kazvar Star's egg? That was nice."

Zeren smiled at the green flit circling him a little, he barely stifled a laugh as she promptly stuck her nose in Kazvar's ear. He winced a little as his mention of mornings. "Cheerful isn't so bad, at least you don't have to deal with Viska and Grym" he replied, knowing that Kaz knew how much trouble those two caused him. "What's her name?" he asked Kazvar, before turning to Wykla and replying "I've been ..... alright thank you Wykla, Viska is fine now" he said, blushing deeply when she asked if he'd given a flit egg to Kazvar, he chewed on his lip a little. "Y....yes i did" he managed to say calmly. He merely smiled at Mercy, since she hadn't really talked to him, she seemed more interested in Kazvask.
