Tackeron
My friends call me Tack.

User Image

Tackeron was standing triumphantly above a floored Saya. He lifted his arm in a sort of strong man sense while holding his bicep with a very proud look on his face.

"Ho Ho, Tackeron with the left hook knocks down little Saya, even the crowds-whaa! Huph!"

His monologue was cut short by being tripped up by an unseen and skillfully delivered kick from Saya. before he knew what was happening he was pinned beneath the knee of a very angry Saya. He did however manage to redirect her fan away from his throat and solidly place it in the dirt. He rose his other hand up almost to her face as he could see just how peeved she was.

"Whoa whoa whoa! Friendly sparring match remember!?"

"Morning Tack morning Saya. You two really shouldn't be fighting outside the training rooms you know. I will let it go for now since you both seem to be having so much fun."

The voice rang clear and pleasant and belonged to the magical arts teacher Erin March. The slender elf walked past the pair carrying her staff heading straight for Saya's dorm.

"Macideus said I should improve the barrier around Saya's room so that she doesn't run away again. I take it this is because you made another attempt today. You know you won't make any friends here like that Saya."

She called back over her shoulder before she reached the dorm and began work on the barrier.

"You started it." Saya growled, shifting her all her weight onto the knee pinning him down to add pressure to his stomach. Her temper truly was a thing to be wary of. It triggered a more vicious teenager, one who was not afraid to give a friendly match her all. Which is why she had not given up yet, grabbing on to Tackeron's outstretched her with one of her own, leaving the redirected fan discarded and only keeping her grip on one of them in a fashion that would have surely earned her a good scolding from her weapon's professor. She began to twist, enough to cause him discomfort but not enough to seriously hurt him. This could only be a good sign - it meant that she was calming down.

The arrival of Erin March tore her attention in two, listening intently to what the woman had to say while keeping her eyes trained cautiously on Tackeron. How many of her professors were at the ready today? If the barrier around her room was being strengthened, Saya had much more to worry about. It made her feel desperate again, her chances at escape slipping away, and fast.
"Everyone keeps assuming I am going out of my way to make friends." She grumbled back at the professor. "What point would there be to escaping if I made any? The idea itself doesn't make a bit of sense." The girl unintentionally revealed some of her logic by responding. It was a good point. For someone who wanted nothing more than to leave this place behind, solid friendships would become a burden. She would, after all, be leaving them behind, simultaneously hurting both of them at once. Saya could stand the separation, but she didn't want to go ahead and assume everyone else could. Hurting others was no her intention.

With Erin March's focus on the barrier, Saya took her chance and repositioned herself, turning to her knee was still left on Tackeron's chest and twisting his wrist just a tad bit more before leaning over him and pinning his arm to the ground beside him as well. In this way she hovered over him, which might have looked less suspicious in a man-on-man fight. She figured he had gotten a good punch in on her, so why couldn't she do something as simple as this? Her hair fell at the sides of her face, the long strands touching the grass on either side of the boy's head.

"Checkmate." Before he could respond, Saya had the fan still in her grasp at the side of his neck, sliding it shut but leaving the edges just as lethal. "A deal's a deal. I get one favor." Her voice was no louder than a whisper as she took extra caution the nearby professor did not overhear.

Tackeron groaned when the pressure on his stomach increased.

"It was just a punch, ow ow owowowowwowow!"

He had retorted but was cut short by the twisting. HHe decided now was as good a time as any to call uncle since he as pinned and had a weapon to his throat.

"Alright alright, I give. You win Saya."

Erin finished with the room and walked past them again and smiled warmly although neither one of them saw it.

"Well Saya I am done with your room now. I am sure you won't like the change but I made it smell nicer as little gift. I think your tenacity should be rewarded in at least some way. Anyways I will leave you two love birds to each other's embraces then."

Erin left perkily unaware of how awkward that statment she just made was.

"There goes Miss Farvardin blatant as ever."

Tackeron said in a half sigh as Erin left. Tackeron then looked back up at Saya.

"So would you like that Favore now or later? Better yet since you won perhapes you could do me the favour of letting me up? Your knee is starting to really hurt."

Saya glanced up when the professor had returned, content with her victory but startled by the woman's words. "What on earth is she talking about? This isn't an embrace at all." The girl frowned, left to be puzzled until she turned her attention back to Tackeron. As he spoke, with their professor's words still buzzing about in Saya's head, she seemed to grow suddenly self-conscious of herself. It wasn't until a comment was made that she paid any mind to the close distance between herself and her classmate, an uncomfortable proximity that was completely her own doing but a tad embarrassing nevertheless. Gradually, and in a fashion more comical than anything else, Saya's face turned a lovely shade of pink. It was an expression people wouldn't normally attribute to the girl, a bit out of character for someone so free of whatever opinions other people may or may not have concerning her. "Ack!" She cried out with her sudden realization, scrambling away from the boy without further ado. She felt her cheeks were warm, a frustrating observation on her part, and turned her head away from Tackeron in the hopes that he wouldn't notice.

"I hope it hurt!" Saya was quick to cover for herself, still determined to keep her gaze focused elsewhere. She was sitting on her knees in the grass beside him, head turned in the opposite direction and hands resting on her lap. "My face is still throbbing, thanks to you." Considering her favor for a moment, the young lady glanced around to be sure that Erin had left them alone. There was no sign of her, so everything appear to be safe. "Yes, I'd like my favor now." The girl decided quickly. With those strengthened barrier around her room, this might very well be her last hope. Macideus will just have to trust I can control myself in proper society. She thought, trying her best not to let his warnings from earlier that day get to her. They were like nagging thoughts at the back of her mind, causing doubts to settle in her mind. And if he's right, I'll end up hurting myself, my family, and possibly some innocent bystander without a clue as to the existence of magic in this world. What if I'm wrong and I can't do this? What if I hurt the last person in the world I want to harm? Saya physically shook her head in an attempt to rid herself of these badgering thoughts before standing again at last, the blush starting to fade a bit from her face.

"I'd like you to leave me be. That's all."Saya simplified the request as much as possible. "You probably know what I intend to do. All I ask for my favor is that you don't interfere." A smile lit up her face at the thought of freedom, temporarily free from watchful eyes thanks to the trust places in Tackeron. She felt only a little guilt about whatever punishment he would get for failing, but it was too late to think of that now. "It was a pleasure meeting you, Mister McCallen. I hope you continue to enjoy your studies here." She made a formal goodbye, curtsying as a bit of a joke before turning and making her way quickly to the line of trees closest to them instead of heading straight for the road. She broke into a run then, allowing the wind to aide her in this venture by taking away the air resistance in front of her and enhancing her natural speed in this way. She had no time to lose.

Tackeron sat up rubbing his belly and chuckling to himself, at Saya's reaction to Erin's words.

"Well Miss Farvardin has a tendancy to make anyone blush. Honestly I am beginning to think it is a practiced art."

It was then that Saya requested her Favore and made it abundantly clear that he wasn't to interfere. Tackeron sighed but was a man of his word.

"Alright I promise not to interfere."

The words sank deep as he realilzed that after this he was likely to be the one mentored instead. He let her get away a bit before a mischivouse smile crept across his face. He was a man of his word and he had to keep his promises after all. He shifted into dragon form effectively destroying his clothing and flying after Saya, keeping low so as to not attract too much attention to them. He flew up next to her.

"You know pink suites you. I didn't think a blushing Saya was allowed in this world for the longest time, I guess I was wrong."

He joked, as he kept pace with her. He then continued on in a morfe seriouse tone.

"So where ya goin? How you gonna get there?"

Now that was unexpected. Saya didn't think Tackeron was the type to sit around sulking and waiting for a list of punishment to be unleashed upon his sorry soul. But following her? He must have been crazy. There still wasn't a guarantee Saya wouldn't be tracked down and dragged back to that prison of a school before the day was up. Surely he realized if they were caught, he'd be in even more trouble? Not that there was much she could do about it. Her one favor was used up and she had failed to specify that he couldn't tag along either, never having thought this would be a problem to begin with. On top pf this, instead of a teenager, she found a large lizard flying beside her. This was just a little startling, for someone as unaccustomed to the sight as she was. "Don't talk about it!" The girl snapped, a faint remainder of her earlier embarrassment refusing to fade from her cheeks. "And you've no idea what you're talking about." Saya huffed, feeling her cheeks grow warm all over again thanks to his comment. I thought it went away! Ugh, this guy is going to be a pain, I can already tell. She thought with exasperation. There was no time to stand around and argue about how he must stay put at the Academy though, so for now she was stuck with this unfortunate twist.

"I'm going home, Isn't that obvious?" Saya answered his question, pondering it more deeply only afterward. Home was a good two weeks or so away, and that was by carriage. hey had no access to those resources and while she was not penniless, the girl didn't have nearly enough money to rent an entire buggy and horses to pull it everywhere. Sooner or later, she was going to be in desperate need of a good plan. "There's a small town a few hours from here. I can make it by nightfall if I can manage to stay at this pace." Which wasn't very likely. Her legs wouldn't be able to hold out nearly that long. All that hard work to escape, that clever little battle included, and things were determined to fall apart without giving her a good fifteen minute of freedom. Saya fought past these thoughts though, knowing to doubt herself and lose sight of her goal was the same as giving up.

They were almost to the trees now. Just a little farther, and they'd be out of sight. It occurred to Saya that a dragon, even at Tackeron's current size, would not be able to adequately dodge the trees once they hit the forest.
"And why are you following me? You're job as babysitter is officially over. You're free to do other things now." The girl pointed out, unable to think of a good reason herself. So, the easiest thing to do was to ask directly.

How long, I wonder, until they notice I am gone? Saya wondered, resisting the urge to glance back at the campus she was leaving behind. Macideus will be furious. He'll probably have the funniest look on his face though. She couldn't help but smile at the thought, the image of the angry professor that came to mind far more comical than intimidating. Ms. March will have to admit her barriers were useless. I got away regardless. I hope she doesn't get into too much trouble for that though. It wasn't really her fault, after all, and she seemed kind enough. Another minute and Saya could disappear into the expanse of plant life. "Thank you." She suddenly said, addressing Tackeron again as she deserted her train of thoughts. "For keeping your word." Annoying or not, he hadn't lied to her. That was worth something, as apparent by the smile she offered him.

Tackeron smirked back at Sya when she smiled at him, he was thoroughly enjoying teasing her. Teasing was something he often did anyways but he had never actually gotten an opportunity to tease Saya before, so he was going to relish this since it may never occure again.

"A blush and a smile! Both from the infamous Saya escapee of Farvardin. Must be my lucky day."

He jested with glee as a the smirk turned into a broad unrefined smile or as close as a dragon could get to smiling which made him look rather goofy to say the least. He got ready to pull away in case she retorted with a fists instead of some words.

"But really, I am still here because of the very reason you thanked me just now, oh and your welcome by the way, but anyways I am here because I have to keep my word. If you recall I gave my word to Micky D's that I wouldn't let you get away from me, and thus far you haven't. Didn't say I would stop you though so I don't imagine I could get in trouble for this. You see so long as I am with you your technically at the academy as far as I am concerned."

He said merrily as he flew next to here, however those trees were getting awefully close and with his wings spread like they were doging them would be psycotically hard if not outright impossible."

"Can we slow down please those look too difficult to navigate."

He asked almost modestly.

The girl rolled her eyes in response to Tacheron's comment. "You better enjoy it while it lasts, in that case." Part of his statement registered a little late and she then frowned, insulted by it. "And I smile plenty, thank you very much!" Saya corrected him with a sort of huff afterward. It wasn't as if she was always serious; quite the opposite, really. Half the time she was off in her own little world, where the rules of reality - even this magically-infested one - did not apply or in any way restrict her. Take the current situation, for example. The girl imagined she was a rather infamous thief, narrowly escaping criminal prosecution after the most elaborate heist of the century. With the very wind on her feet, she ran, existing on the basis of freedom and adventure. It was all she needed. And then there was that pesky dragon, a beast who could not decide whether to burn her to a crisp or let her be, as he could understand her consuming thirst for freedom and excitement and felt uncomfortable attacking a heart so much like his own. It was a fun way to pass the time, thinking of little games like that one. Saya began to feel lost in her invented role, wondering if she should steal the dragon as well. Surely no one before her had attempted such a thing.

The girl shook her head, trying to get herself back into focus. No, no, no. Taking Tackeron along would NOT be a wise idea, even if it did fit into her play nicely. She sighed aloud, knowing it would have made a wonderful twist. If only the boy knew what thoughts ran through her imaginative mind. That might be the most surprising discovery of all.
"As nice as that logic of yours may be, you can only follow me so far." Saya pointed out just before the miniature dragon realized that an obstacle still stood in his path. "I fear that human society may become alarmed if I show up with a legendary beast. And didn't you already destroy the clothes you had? Besides, if I slow down I risk losing all the precious ground I've gained. I don't intend to be around when Macideus receives word of my escape." As amusing as that angry expression might be, it would surely be followed by more intimidating gestures of rage. The man wasn't the type to fly off the handle, but Saya couldn't be sure he would stick to that reputation when he found out that she was gone.

"It looks like we'll be parting ways from here on out." The girl shot him the same two-finger salute she had given the Academy itself that morning, before a certain professor had crushed her hopes of leaving. Not that she hadn't recovered from that. With both a mischievous and positively elated smile, Saya disappeared behind a line of trees, leaving Tackeron behind. She ran a bit further in before slowing down, coming up to a man-made path that weaved through the expanse of trees. Saya spun in a circle, laughing with her arms outstretched. "I did it! I'm off campus property!" Although, admittedly, she was still very close to it. She set off at a jog to conserve the remainder of her energy, making her way north so she could reach the main road and head to the nearest town from there. She would not be even a day's journey from the school in the end, but it was better than nothing.

Tackeron stuck his tongue out at Saya when she said she wouldn't slow down for him. Tackeron pondered the issue she set before him about being a dragon.

"Well you have a point there..."

He said thoughtfully, sadly before he had a solution the treeline decided to meet them. As Saya went into the forest he risked flying over it. He kept as low as he could however a set of watchful eyes observed the scene anyways. These eyes belonged to none other then Macideus. The man was practically beside himself. He had seen Tackeron flying across the grounds and caught a glimps of the unending uniform infraction that was Saya's dress. He was beside himself but would need clearence before going after them. So naturally he went to report to the headmistress. There was no way Tackeron was getting a position as Mentor now, coarse Macideus was likely to be in some kind of trouble as well. Tackeron flew over the forest and and then down to thee ground where he landed and jogged next to Saya in his dragon form.

"You could always pick up some cloths inside the town for me you know. Then I could shift back. Or perhapes we could make me a loincloth and say I got mugged and get some sympathy for free. Yeah let's do that, that way I can keep an eye on you."

He was being one hundred percent serious and it could be determined by his tone. He had absolutly no intention of leaving her side as was his word. He didn't break his word to her and he certainly wouldn't break his word to Macideus. Even if it meant exposing himself in his current form to the world. However since he was smallish he could probably conceal himself.

"Or I could hide myself on the rooftops. I mean so long as I don't fly over any super busy streets i doubt anyone will be expecting to see a dragon on the roofs and it's not like they are looking for me."

Even now he was still serious.

]Tackeron simply refused to give up. No one could accuse him of being all talk. He vowed not to leave her side and he was doing all he could to stick to that promise. While that quality was the boy's personal virtue in a way, it was starting to get a little frustrating on Saya's end. Now he was trying to get her assistance as well, something that earned him an exasperated glance. "Why on earth would I help you when what I really need is for you to return to the Academy?" The girl pointed out, blunt as ever. "And although you're not as large as a normal dragon, or I'd assume you aren't anyway, you provide a nice sized target. I wouldn't be surprised if someone saw you already." Saya wasn't any better hidden than Tackeron was before they hit the treeline, but a student running about was still far more subtle than a winged lizard flying around campus. That was a hard fact to deny.

Saya was pretty sick of blushing by now, and she was pretty sure Tackeron was going out of his way to try inspiring the light pink to spread across her cheeks again.
"You will not accompany me in a loincloth!" She immediately rejected the idea. "No one would believe you were mugged. They would think you were mad, and me even more so for being with you." The girl was thinking again, trying to push the little games her mind was coming up with more rapidly now out of her head at the same time. "We - I mean, I - need to remain as inconspicuous as possible. If a search party comes asking questions, I don't need to be found so easily because you lack subtlety." Saya sighed then. His ideas just got more and more outrageous. "Have you ever not looked in a certain direction only because you didn't expect to see anything there? People will glance up idly and find a dragon peering down at them." It didn't look like Saya had much of a choice in the end. It was either let him walk around in a loincloth, allow him to fly unhidden in the city, or buy him some clothes. While she didn't have nearly enough money for a carriage or even a train ticket, she did have some spare money saved that could pay from decent attire.

"We'll have to follow the forest instead of the open road then, at least until we reach civilization and I can afford to buy you some clothing." Saya slowed down. Just ahead was the main road. Instead of taking it, she made a sharp turn and followed an adjoining path, also man-made but not as clear. Some foliage spilled out into this path, but it could be walked around or stepped over. "Keep up or go back." She called back to Tackeron, knowing this would be more difficult for him to transverse in his current form. But, as always, there was no time to lose and she couldn't fall into a slower pace for his sake. It would be easier if he were in his human guise, but there was no way that was happening until he could properly cover himself, pressing circumstances or not.

It took another good hour of walking in the wild terrain before the hustle and bustle of horses, carriage wheels, voices, and general city life could be heard. A faint smell of smoke and sludge was in the air, an unfortunate side effect of life in the city during a time nearing industrialization.
"Wait here." Saya ducked out of the trees and jogged across the maid road, finding herself immediately in the midst of the very civilization they had been looking for. Luckily, she was already used to ignoring the stares her improper appearance attracted, but it did serve to remind her that she would need at least a plain cloak to hide herself better. It would be a good idea to wash the bit of dried blood of her face while she was at it. The only thing she was unwilling to do was to put up her hair. If she could not feel the breeze shift through it, she felt unnatural. It was strange, of course, but part of being one so attached to the very air around her. Ducking through crowds and keeping her eyes on the shops dotting the sides of the road, Saya eventually found a shop specializing in men's clothing. It would take most of her savings, unfortunately, but she managed to find a decent suit that didn't break the bank entirely. It occurred to her that Tackeron may not appreciate the widespread fashion for males, since she had not seen him in even an informal suit before, but it would have to do. She had forgotten to ask for his sizes, so she played it by eye and made the best guess she could, grabbing a belt just in case.

By the time Saya had returned to the forest, she was had the articles of clothing Tackeron would need draped over one arm, including a light jacket to put over the white dress shirt. A plain black cloak covered much of her kimono and the hood was pulled up over her head so her hair was less noticeable.
"Here." She held out the dark brown suit, feeling odd for trying to give a dragon clothes. "Hurry. I passed a tavern on the way, but I can only afford one room for the night." The girl narrowed her eyes. "If you are so determined to stick with me, you can sleep on the floor." Saya wasn't sure if they would even last until tomorrow morning, so she didn't rent out the room just yet, but she had checked the prices. She turned her back to Tackeron, leaning against a nearby tree so he could have his privacy. They could stay in the tavern's bar in the meantime. It was better than sitting out in the forest, where it would get chilly as soon as night fell.

Tackeron thought of an answer although it was more sarcasm then anything. She was right she didn't need to help him if anything she would likely just let him rot and go on by herself. Naturally he intended to follow her regardless although he would much rather have her permission to do so. Stalking people was not something he considered particularly honorable. Still he could only laugh as she blatantly rejected the idea of the loincloth. Even though he had been serious it still held an element of humor to think on.

"I can be subtle! You would be amazed at what people don't see when they're not looking for it. Normal humans are so self absorbed that even if I walked up to them and slapped one in the face and promptly left they still wouldn't believe what they just saw and assume they were going mad let alone assuming the reality of their vision after a brief glimpse at what might have been a dragon. I mean who is going to admit to seeing a mythical creature on their chimney or in the nearby alleyway? They would be labeled as barking mad and locked away. I mean the simple unbelievability of it all is camouflage in and of itself. Still clothing would be nice, so thanks for helping me out."

Tackeron said part in argument part in thanks. He had a little more difficulty navigating since he decided to start traveling across the thick tree branches, in order to avoid leaving too many big obvious foot prints since the ground here was softened by moss and the like as the plants grew in around the fading path. When they arrived at their destination he was told to stay put which he did although he had to move into more inconspicuous spots as children played about in the forest. he had wondered if he had been duped and left behind which was entirely possible, however he was glad when he saw her return that she hadn't left. She had cloths in her arms too although they were abnormally dressy but right now anything would suffice. He took the cloths and went behind a few bushes making sure he was completely concealed in both forms. He shifted forms and dressed at the same time his his usual fashion and came out looking almost gentleman like. If one didn't know better they would say he was an upstanding gentleman just by appearance."

"A little dressy but cloths are cloths right? I owe you one big time Saya, but before you ask no I won't leave. The Tavern sounds like a good place, let's chill there for the night. We will continue on to the next village tomorrow and I will help get us some proper cash. Sound good?"

He had totally avoided the statement about sharing a room. Even if he was just on the floor a slightly reddish color came to his ears at the statement.

Meanwhile Macideus, after a brief scolding made his way out onto the grounds and for the forest that he had seen Tackeron fly over. He had his glave in hand and a very very pissed look on his face. He marched towards the forest in pursuit of the devious duo. He had trusted Tackeron and the boy practically helped her escape! He had gotten an earful from the headmistress about his and was now in just as much trouble as they were. What would the punishment be? Double...triple detention? He growled with frustration and decided that punishment would have to wait as he made his way to the trees.

"Tackeron mentoring her? Why did I even consider that in the first place!?"

Saya was taken back by how well Tackeron wore the new clothing. The sizes looked alright, which was good. It would seem strange of a gentleman to be wearing clothes that didn't even fit properly. But, luckily for them, the suit was neither too tight nor too loose; it was almost a perfect fit. "It isn't dressy. This is the fashion." The girl informed him, though with her foreign attire she wasn't really one to talk. Since the woman in town wore frilly dresses, corsets, poofy skirts, stockings, and heels, Saya became the oddity. Not that she didn't always stick out - her outspoken nature was enough to set her apart from most young ladies of the time. "Well would you look at that." The girl smiled, hands on her hipped as she looked the young man up and down. "Who knew the very man who holds no qualms about punching a woman straight in the mouth would be able to clean up so nicely." She approached him then, lifting herself up on her toes to close some of the height distance as she casually smoothed out his hair. "There, that's better." Saya nodded to herself, content with her work.

After allowing herself to fall back onto her heels, she noticed something interesting. It wasn't at all chilly, not yet anyway, yet Tackeron's ears were a lovely shade of red.
"Eeehhh?" Saya's devious smile was back, something that was never a good sign. She had cupped her hands behind her back, closing even more distance between them before peering up at his face from underneath the hood of her cloak. "The dragon boy is embarrassed now?" For her to notice this must have been bad luck on the young man's part. Saya wasn't a tease, but she most certainly was a brat, and she decided it was only fair to have fun with this newly discovered detail. Tackeron had loads of fun teasing her earlier, as she recalled. "So Sir Tackeron isn't immune to everything. Good to know." There was a hint of a threat in her voice, though she was careful to keep it subtle. The girl ventured to lean in just a tad bit closer to test her discovery, but before anything could progress further she jumped back a few steps and turned around, acting as if nothing had happened.

"Sounds fine to me~" Saya agreed with the vague plan cheerily, hands still latched together behind her back as she hurried back into town. "We'll need a story to explain why we are in each other's company. It won't look good for a man and woman to travel alone together without one." The girl appeared considerate, running through a broad range of possibilities in her mind. "We appear to be too close in age to be siblings. I could say you are my cousin, but that sounds a little fishy, as if we had already thought out the sibling guise and discarded it. Lets see. . ." For all her little games, it was hard to invent good reason now. "Though I suppose now that you look like a proper gentlemen we could play the part of newly weds. My cousin was married by the time she was fifteen, after all. It seems off that you are so young, but wearing that suit you do look just a bit older, at least mature enough to be wed." Saya seemed to be seriously consider this option, unperturbed by it since it was only a guise. "I think I still have that ring my mother gave me. . ." She mumbled, removing the money pouch hidden in her kimono and shifting through it before withdrawing a modest silver band with a diamond set in the center, surrounded on either side by a couple smaller ones. A more plain silver band accompanied it. It was a curious thing for her to have, but her mother had said it may come in handy and it did, so the girl would not complain about having to carry it around all the time now. Saya slipped if on her left hand, glancing up at Tackeron. "Well? Is that alright with you?" They would not even have to hold hands. Society dictated public affection improper, so they were safe from having to go above and beyond their roles.

His ears went slightly redder when she said he wasn't immune to everything and redder still when she closed the distance between them again to test her theory. Needless to say Tackeron was embarrassed to an exceeding amount. There were few who actually knew how modest he tended to be when it came to girls, even if he did punch them. His bravado was often enough to keep the embarrassment at bay. the threat however was not lost on him and that caused the blush to fade slowly. When she finally pulled away from him for what felt like hours of embarrassment his ears finally started to return to their normal color. He cleared his throat before speaking in what sounded like a far more upstanding tone then he normally used. In fact it sounded like a jest at Macideus's method of speaking.

"Well miss Tennyson, since everything has been decided on i suggest we get going. Lest Mister Daughn is sent after us and comes a bounding through toe forest glave and in hand and downright furious. I doubt our chances of survival if we get caught by him in such a fearsome state of mind."

Tackeron was going to go along with this for a bit for now however he did feel that they needed to be back at the school at some point. He could sympathize with Saya a bit since she did seem far more restricted then other students, it was little wonder she thought the place a prison. Even so he felt that they should at least finish the year before going on to their lives. However he wouldn't share this with her just yet. Then came the plan, first it was siblings then cousins and finally she settled on newly weds which brought forth the redness to his ears again. He knew for a fact that there was no way she was going to let this go, not after he had teased her so much.

"I suppose but are you sure we can't go with siblings? I mean how many people really care?"
"Aaargh! pull yourself together man, it's just a cover story."

A useless argument as he slipped on the plain silver band. He took a deep breath and this time the red vanished completely, there was a moment of silence and normal Tackeron was back as unfoundedly confident as ever.

"Forget that, your right newly weds is the way to go so let's get going. There were kids playing around in this section of woods earlier so if we stick around out here it will require us to answer some questions that I am sure you would rather not answer."

Tackeron took the lead into the town but not without asking Saya where the tavern was first as he passed her.

"Where was that tavern again, dear?"

He asked in a plain manner. The 'dear' added on to help him get into character as an upstanding gentleman. he suddenly felt like he should be carrying a cane, but restrained the urge to break off a branch like he normally would when he was just messing around. Right now he needed to be serious.

Macideus had finally made his way out of the woods to find the main road. He stood in quiet contemplation as he considered the possible directions. They likely didn't have any survival requirements so they would need to gt to the nearest town quickly. He turned to face the road and jogged along it. He needed to get those kids back and he needed to get them back today.

Saya couldn't help but laugh at the young man's impression of their professor, complete with formal speech patterns. "I am compelled to agree with you. And on that note, I fear for the forest wildlife. Imagine, a poor, fear-stricken squirrel taking by surprise due to his intense fury. It would be a horrid shame for the trees to be all scratched and oozing of sap." She put one hand at her cheek, playing along and shaking her head at the atrocity of it all. "We best be out of his path, lest we find ourselves slice into clean little bits. Though, I do declare we would be far neater in such a state, and perhaps more readily organized." The girl joked, having no idea what thoughts were running through her classmates head. This was a good thing, however. If she knew he intended to interfere later, she would be breaking off the biggest branch she could manage and beating him with it until he found himself in a state of unconsciousness. It would not do to have her plans foiled so quickly. They already had to worry about Macideus catching up, which was worrisome enough. Saya didn't need to concern herself with worries that Tackeron would betray his word. She had given no time limit to the restriction she placed on his ability to interfere. It had been a general command to cover her entire journey.

While the scheme to keep themselves conspicuous had been made out of necessity, Saya was pleased to find that Tackeron's weakness made a comeback due to it. She observed how something so simple could change the colour of his ears. It would take hardly any effort to embarrass, knowing what she now knew. A flustered opponent was as good as a stunned opponent, after all.
"Who would not be suspicious when we look nothing alike?" The girl shook her head, rejecting his suggestion just as he came to terms with it. She cocked an eyebrow at the sight of his quick recovery. Well that was interesting, although its no fun if he can swallow down his most intriguing weakness. I hope he doesn't suck all the fun out of discovering his bit of embarrassment before it's useful. She nodded at his suggestion to leave, watching him walk past her. "Of course."

As mischievous as ever, Saya jogged a few steps to catch up to him, slipping her arm into his to it looked like he was escorting her as a gentleman would. "It isn't far, only a few blocks straight off the main road." The girl explained, taking a subtle lead by directing his movements, with light tugs to the left or right when they needed to maneuver around and through the throngs of people. They were almost ignored, Saya attracting much less attention with seemingly normal company at her side. The was a relief. The cloak looked like a way to shield herself from the oncoming night's chill instead of a way to hide herself as well, another relief on its own. They passed modest shops and the occasional merchant's stall set outside in the streets, The city of pretty typical, despite being the closest to the infamous Academy. Nothing really stood out.

Saya pushed open the tavern door a few blocks later, looking about to find a place to sit. She found a table set for three, this being the smallest they had, and gestured toward it so Tackeron would know which way they were headed.
"Hun, I think we can afford a light supper. Would you be so kind as to wave a waiter over so we can order?" The girl slipped into her role without effort, smiling up at Tackeron in a pleasant matter. She was a natural, able to add a touch of affection to her expression to be even more convincing. They could not be stiff as boards if they wanted to convince anyone that their little game was, in fact, reality. Her only slip was to forget to wait for Tackeron to pull out her chair for her. Chivalry wasn't her cup of tea, acting as independently as she often did, so she realized his arm and headed to her seat without his guidance or assistance.

Tackeron stiffened when Saya slipped her arm into his, the blush returned for a brief moment before he recomposed himself. Even though the red was gone it was pretty obvious that the embarrassment remained. He allowed her to guide him subtly and they arrived at the tavern. Sadly Tackeron was not as good an actor as Saya.

"Huh? Oh the seat, right. I will get a waiter. Oh is there anything you would like to drink, dear?"

He had fortunately remembered the dear part but he also missed the part where he was to pull out a chair for Saya. There was only one or two disapproving glares but he brushed them off. He waved over to a waiter as he sat.

"What shall we be having this evening good sir and kind miss."

"I shall start with some water. How about you dear?"

Tackeron said, there were only very subtle hints of his nervousness. He needed to hide them as best he could if things were to be convincing and he was mentally thankful that he hadn't blushed at Saya's affectionate gaze. Although he could not deny it was abnormally convincing. She was good at this and was likely going to enjoy using her charms against him as often as possible. He let out a feint sigh of exasperation. The waiter waited for Saya to order.

Macideus arrived at the town border and he began searching minds for any hints of the students whereabouts. He was looking specifically a memory of that dress, since he doubted Saya was foolish enough to allow Tackeron to follow her in his dragon form.
