Celeste watched as the poor woman's blush increased. Guilt warred with a lifetime of frustration at her Aunt. Freja wasn't her Aunt... she wasn't! She was just a nice young woman who happened to believe in the same strange stuff her Aunt did. She needed to stop being rude to the her. Her stuttering was getting worse and it was all Celeste's fault.

But the girl was blabbering on about spirits for heaven's sake! Spirits, who were appearently following Celeste around. She suppressed a shiver at the thought of cold, creepy, ethereal things, floating around her. Stark horror crossed her face. Even when she was naked?!

Groaning loudly again she raised her hands to cover her face. Great, now she was actually pretending to believe the darn girl. She took a deep breath to settle herself, then slowly looked up at the girl. "You really believe in all this?" She mumbled defeatedly from behind her hands.

She was about to say more, try to be nice to the young woman, but the sound of fireworks drew her attention. Her hands dropped slowly to her side as she turned to find the bright flashes of light in the sky. "Awesome." She breathed. She really loved fireworks. So much in fact that all her fear, embarassment, frustration, and guilt melted away and she smile happily. She turned that smile to Freja. "Don't you think?"

"Well I w-wouldn't know, this is my first New Year's here," Mariella said to the girl. "My name is Mariella, nice to meet you," she told her. Shortly after she noticed the fireworks had begun.

As Usagi and Mitsukai and Mitsukai arrived at their destination, Usagi gave the little girl a slight push towards Yoakim Jr. "Hello," Mitsukai quietly said to the little boy. In the meantime Usagi looked up at the older boy who had just greeted her, "Oh hello," she said to him but was quickly distracted by the fireworks, "look how pretty."

"Fireworks!" Ai exclaimed happily as she noticed them and tugged on her older sister's sleeve, just like a child would. A slight smile spread across Amaya's face, they really were quite pretty and she would have been crazy if she didn't give them at least some appreciation.

Freya was still looking down at her feet when the woman with all the spirits talked to her again. She couldn't fund the courage to raise her eyes in order to look at her. She was too ashame for that. She had been yelled at when she had just been curious about the woman's magnetic energy. She knew she should have stayed in her little cottage in the middle of the woods to celebrate New Year with Lili the Spider and Jaime the Moth. Oh, and Lotte, her sister. Well, odds were that the youngest Von Der Bach wouldn't have stayed in the house. "Y-yes I d-d-do be-believe in th-that..." She said in a whisper. She thought everybody did! That was why her shop was popular! In the last season, five people had went in it! FIVE! That was a lot! Almost twice as many people that Freja had seen in the last three years. Of course, she had never left he house back then, but that way only a detail. At the sound of the small explosions, she finally lift her head to see the bright colours in the sky. "Oh.... pretty..." She simply stated. She looked back at Celest, for the first time in the last ten minutes, the blush finally gone from her face. "Oh-oh! Uh, Happy New Year! I uh... I'm Freya.... I don't remember if I introduced myself earlier or not..."

Damn fireworks, taking cute Asian girl's attention away from his biceps! ..Still, fireworks were cool. Jacob's face fell into disappointment, but it didn't last long when he turned his head towards the humble display the island had to offer. He kept his arms crossed and watched them for a few moments before giving Usagi a glance. “Yeah, real.. 'pretty'.” He had issues saying that word considering how fond of it Kade was, but he wouldn't disagree with a cute chick he may score with that night. “Didn't catch your name.” He pointed out to her. She knew his name, after all, he'd said it when he first saw her! She needed to remember it for when he – uh, yeah, teenage boy thoughts, probably on the impure side. It was probably for the best that the focus shifted to Yoakim Jr. until Jacob was done 'thinking'.

The little boy was still fiddling with his rock when Mitsukai was pushed forward, even putting more attention on the blunt object with her presence. She was so.. so close! What did he say? He didn't know! She said hi to him, but he wasn't sure if she really wanted to do that or if she was just saying it or.. or what, really, he was confused. He mumbled all that to Zap as he stayed crouched, missing the fireworks until he heard a loud boom signal their start. He snapped his head up and took a hand to his bangs, pulling them up so bright blue eyes could watch the display without squinting through red hair. “I-I like red.” He commented when a red spray of lights decorated the sky. “It's my favorite.” ..She didn't ask, but Junior was more focused on the fireworks at that moment than Mitsukai, probably why the little girl could hear something other than mumbles.

Celeste exhaled deeply. It really wasn't her place to jdge the belifs of others. Even if those beliefs gave her the heebie jeebies, a headache the size of Texas, and reminded her of her crazy Aunt that she moved all the way to an island to escape!

She took another calming breath watching the fireworks out of the corner of her eye. She let her breath out in a soft sigh. She watched as Freya lifted her face to the fireworks before turning to answer her. She had stopped stutturing and Celeste's smile warmed. "Hello Freya." She held out a hand, eyes back on the fireworks. "It's nice to meet you." She turned an embarassed smile to Freya, her own blush to light to be illuminated by the fireworks. "I uh... I'm sorry for snapping at you. You just happened to bring up a sore subject."

Usagi looked back towards the boy as she suddenly remembered that he was there, "Oh, I'm sorry. My name's Usagi," she said to him with a smile. "Oh, and that's my little sister, Mitsukai," she said as she pointed to the little girl, "She looked like she wanted to come over here and talk to a friend of her's from class," she added.

Mitsukai looked up at her sister upon hearing what she had said. Sure she was just a little kid but that didn't mean that she was stupid and couldn't understand a word that her older sister was saying. Yes she had looked over here for a moment, and yes Junior was in her class, but they hadn't ever even played together. Before getting the chance to protest she had heard Junior say he liked red. She liked red too but it wasn't her favorite, "I like pink!"

Usagi, huh? Sounded.. weird. Like she was soggy or something. But, he should have expected she wasn't going to be called something he was used to. He had been silently calling her 'hot Asian chick' for the past few minutes, so her being foreign was already a part of his perception on her. He glanced down at the blond little girl that was apparently her sister. By looks alone, he wouldn't have really guessed it, but.. 'Mitsukai'? Well, that wasn't as weird as 'Usagi', but still out there enough for him to get it. He gave a simple nod, though he honestly didn't believe that the little girl was a friend of – no. Wait, yeah, he could believe that. He would only have trouble if someone claimed that a kid like, uh.. the boy with the sword over there was friends with Yoakim.

Yoakim and her are friends, huh?” He repeated – now, to start a conversation from that.. somehow. “Yeah, he's my,” 'Nephew' made him sound.. uh, he didn't know what to call it, but it wasn't cool in the least. He grinned the same grin he did when he was about to skew the truth, “little brother. I ended up stuck with taking him here. You too, Usoggy?” Probably said her name all wrong, but, hey, he tried.

Yoakim Jr. didn't realize that Mitsukai could hear him. When he did, however, he looked at her frightfully, as if she would suddenly explode or throw water on him or something. Maybe turn into a giant bee! Oh, God, that would be scary! He swallowed nervously and ducked his head down to stare at his pet rock instead. Zap looked back up at him with the googly-eyes Theresa helped him glue onto the top of his head, giving him a stare of disappointment. 'Come on, it's not THAT hard, junior!' Oh, of course it wasn't. Just like it wasn't that hard to finish his English homework or to shoot a rhinoceros. 'She's not a rhinoceros.' He frowned. He couldn't argue with that logic.

So, turned his head back up and away from Zap the rock, he tried a very small, nervous smile. “P-pink is.. is cool too. It's, um.. I-I've seen some.. people with p-pink hair before. L-like that lady..” He ended with a point to where the pink-haired baker stood, chatting with someone else. “Red and pink are.. um, alike. 'Cause, if you put white into.. into red it'll make it pink with.. p-p-paints.” That was the most he had ever said ever! His heart was thudding anxiously, but he was somewhat happy that he had spoken instead of mumbled this time.

Ciel gave Rachel a polite smile and nodded his head. “I would love to Rachel.” He hooked his arm with hers and walked with her to around town squares middle. He looked at Rachel before he looked up at the fireworks. “Pretty, aren't they? When I lived in Russia, they would over celebrate the new years, it was one of they're biggest celebrations in fact.” He gave a light chuckle at that. He was correct, he remembered when he was eight and his family went over board, even bought some fireworks for it too. He looked back over at Rachel. “Don't you think?” He gave a small sigh. The fireworks gave him a nostalgic feeling. Even if it made him remember his loony parents, it was still fun. It made him think of Francis, when he tried to give him Russian celebration, that was something he could never forget. Ciel noticed himself zoning out, and immediately snapped back to where he was. People here and there, a girl he was hooked arms with, and fireworks going off. He returned his attention back to Rachel, releasing his arm a little so she could unhook if she wanted.

"Good work, you completely figured it out," Elliot said simply to Neil, giving him the beginnings of a small smile. She didn't say much else after that, thanks to the start of the fireworks. She stared up at them blankly, but once they finished, she turned back to Neil. "Good luck with your other investigations," she said before gently picking Mister BoJangle up from her shoulder and handing him back to Neil. She nodded to him as a goodbye, and went to go find her brother, so they could go home. She was getting a little tired.

Yuuto and Haruka had stood in complete silence. Every once in a while one of them would try to initiate smalltalk, but it never lasted. Haruka wasn't interested in talking about her study habits or her grades, so the conversation was doomed from the start. They watched the fireworks, but once they were done, there wasn't much of a reason to stay there. Haruka looked up at Yuuto. "Mom should be heading home soon. I should be there to unlock the door." Nanami wasn't the type to get too drunk, but this was her first new year in a long time that she was on her own. This could have been the first year that she let herself go all out.

"...Yeah, we should go." Yuuto's reply was brief, and he patted her on the head before they left the square.

The fireworks were pretty ******** epic. Conor was feeling like a little kid as he watched them, his mouth forming a perfect 'O' with every new blast of color, eyes sparkling as they took in the splash of red or blue across the dark, New Year's Eve sky, signaling the beginning of next year. He was kind of.. excited with it. And excited in other ways. So, instead of focusing all of his attention onto the fireworks, his eyes went back to Blaire and he stared at her. Part of his head went towards one question and, really, if Blaire could only read his mind, she would probably be appalled, but he couldn't deny that he wanted to ******** her. Yep. Just as simple as that. There was a bonfire going, he had just started to make out with her, and.. and he wanted to go jump her behind a bush or something, to hell if there were kids around here! His libido mattered more, damn it!

But, at the same time.. Some bit of his head, some small, total killjoy part of his mind, told him not to. Asked him, ********, if he jumped her now, what the hell would happen? What happened to Doris..? Well, cutting out that chewed apart by a wildcat part. He swallowed and leaned back in, dropping her hand while he brushed his lips against hers once more. Just to make sure she remembered him with something. “I-I.. uh, thanks, Blaire,” ..Yeah, Conor was ******** all when it came to words in moments like this. He shoved his hands into his pockets and forced his eyes to keep trained on hers. “I.. I have to go.. Uh, see you later? Yeah? 'kay, bye.” And then Conor hurried off out of Town Square like an over eager boy running to the bathroom during a date would. ..It was basically that, wasn't it? Oh, well~ He'd be happy once he got home! Hopefully.

~~~
Jacob and Yoakim Jr. both noted the fireworks coming to an end and the fact that almost half of the crowd was starting to leave. Damn it, Jacob had two options here. Be a good teenage boy and screw the rules to stay behind to hopefully screw around with a hot chick.. ooorrr leave because he knew screwing the rules would get Kade worried over Junior and have him come out looking for him. Have yet another teenager make fun of him for having Kade as an older brother? Uh, no thanks. He gave a wide grin at Usagi in an attempt to be charming before saying his goodbyes and dragging Yoakim Jr. out with him. Yoakim tried to squeak out a goodbye to Mitsukai, but he mumbled it at the last second and he really wasn't sure if she heard. ..At least he had time to get his rock..
~Exit Yoakim Jr., Conor, and Jacob!~
Making out in a public area like that would've probably been a bad idea at any other moment. But getting caught up in the moment seemed like the most plausible excuse for Blaire right now. Essentially when she was the one who kissed him first. What she wasn't quite grasping was that Conor had already taken care of her bra. Well she did when she caught some air and he pulled her up. She was about to say something when the fireworks started. It had come as a distraction to the two, and the girl had moved closer to him to watch them. But... she wasn't just about to go to the bushes right now. Noo... that-no. Even if she was that close to. Her direction shifted from the fireworks to the boy besides her who leaned in for a slight kiss, which she blushed deeply to. "S-Sure. I-Uh... S-See you later..." managed the girl as she caught her breath and watched him off. Oh she was star-struck~ Or was it love-struck? Something like that.
"Is that so?" replied Rachel as she watched the fireworks, keeping her arm around Ciel's. She had grown up in the worst part of her city, so celebrations like this... well they didn't happen. But she had sneaked out enough to the higher-up's area to catch a glimpse. Still, this island's fireworks were lovely. At least to her they were. "They really are" smiled the blond as her gaze dropped from the sky to meet Ciel's. Some small talk later and a pleasant evening for the two, the two had their good byes and headed home.
What had been a pleasant yet lonely night for Cam... well it was that. She stood up from the bench she was at and walked around looking for Lucas. Cam was slightly disappointed... sure the fireworks were cool but she had been bored. Ah, you lose some you win some. Eventually she found the blond making small talk to another girl and she dragged him off to find Blaire. Soon enough they found the flustered girl, which Lucas was suspicious off before heading to Lucas' home.
"Same here. I'm Julie" replied the raven haired young woman with a smile. At that timing she glanced up to catch the fireworks. Hey they were pretty nice. With the fireworks done, Julie turned to her new acquaintance and nodded. "Well I'll see you around Mariella, nice meeting you" she said before leaving the square and heading home.
/New Day, so totally had to play this out for journal entries/need to use Matt more!
User Image
Matthew stared at his watch a moment, not having a minute even collapsed since the last time he checked. It's not that Tess was late, or anything. He had been early, and for some reason, he was a bit nervous. Aaaggh, Carly! Goddamn her killing his previous attitude toward this sorta thing... Heavens, he felt like such a pansy! Maybe he'd be more comfortable once he actually saw Tess and got some chit-chat in? Yeah, hopefully. Did he have any flowers or wearing anything special? No, not really. Tess had been rather adamant about thinking this was a date. So, he'd appease her by not making it seem like it was... yet.
Well, of course he'd try to get into her pants! It's not like he wouldn't! No Keith or Bela s**t to get in the way this time, thankfully. Matthew leaned back on his heels, looking around to look for that familiar brown color come bobbing into his view. Alas, nothing yet. ********! He checked his watch again, only two minutes passed. He looked down at it with incredulity and thought about throwing it to the ground and stepping on it. But, what good would that do? None at all, much to his dislike.
He ran his fingers through his hair, which he had ruffled as soon as he was out of Gemma's view from the house. Goddess, she sure reminded him of his mother come Prom Night! Matt let out a huge sigh, dropping his head back and downward. Looking up at the sky, as if it would, somehow, manage to make Tess pop up at that moment. His nerves were ******** killing him, even though the woman wasn't even here. Oh, if his younger self could see him now...
To anybody around, he sure looked like some awkward guy standing there like he was stood up or something. An NPC mother passed him by, along with her child earlier... he had glared at the infant, when the other wouldn't take it's eyes off him. Yes, he referred to the child as an it. Along with many others who had eyed him with the same kind of annoying beady eyes. He must have seemed intimidating, because they all pretty much looked away right after. Come on, Tess... Matthew chanted in his head, anxiety setting in.
After leaving Junior at the old lady's, who really wasn't the b***h that Kade and the kid seemed to believe, Theresa had rushed on out to meet up with Matt for their coffee date. She had to internally curse the deliciousness of that woman's pastries – she could make a mean marmalade bread pudding.. Theresa almost stole the whole bowl before she left, but, well, showing up to a 'date' with a bowl of pudding didn't seem like the best of ideas. Theresa was all for the unique and surprising, but she wasn't going to go that out there. Maybe the second date. If she had a second date after being late.
Ah, she hated being finicky like this – it was just weird. She was supposed to be the relaxed one of the family, not the OMG I'M LATE~~!! member. ..Then again, with Kade dropping that excitable bunny charade, she guessed it would have had to go somewhere and Jacob didn't sound like he was skipping through daisies yet. She slowed her pace after the square came into sight, fixing her.. not there hat. Damn. She forgot she didn't slip one on that day, what with the summer heat starting to set in already. Her favorite puffy jacket was left behind, too, so all that she had now was a black and yellow top that rose maybe a little too high. It was just a step away from being a tube-top, if it weren't for the sleeves, which.. didn't sit very well with her. Maybe okay for around the town, but not on a date. Which this wasn't a guarantee to be an actual date, so she should probably stop referring to it as a date and did -
Heey.” She voiced out to break her rampant thoughts, jogging over to where the stud stood. Whatever worries plagued her moments ago vanquished now that she was face to face with the guy, grinning as per usual. Sort of like the opposite of stage fright, she supposed. The brunette gave a small wave to Matthew as she came to a stop in front of him, “Sorry, had to drop the nephew off. You haven't been waiting for long, right?” That was the standard question, yeah? Yeah. She looked him over briefly, taking him in when there wasn't smoke in the air and a variety of liquors in his hands. It was nice to see him out of the bar, actually. In fact, he looked almost unapproachable when it wasn't his job to listen, which was always a nice boost.
Matthew was starting to get rather irritated now, grinding his teeth together. Maybe Theresa had stood him up... well, he knew who wasn't getting anymore drinks on the house for the next centu-- Oh! There, coming toward him, that familiar brown! His irritation eased the slightest bit, though there was still a bit of a scowl on his face. He was pretty much standing in his own little bubble of solitude, rejecting everybody from approaching him while he stewed in his own broodiness.
Nephew, huh? His scowl stayed for a moment more, and he even went as far as to conspicuously looking down at his watch. Shows her to be late! "A bit, not much." he replied curtly, looking up from his watch to look at her and letting his arm drop back down to his side. He tried not to give her an obvious once over, but goddamn, he was out of practice! It wasn't bad, could do better, though. Well, now that he thought about it, it was appropriate for the setting. It wasn't a date, after all...
Matt looked around the area a moment, wanting people to know he wasn't just standing there like a freak for nothin'! "People have been avoiding me like the plague, though..." he commented wistfully, finally meeting her blue eyes with his own. An easy smile came over his face, glad that she was here, at least. He would have had to drag Carly... yeah. Of course people would avoid you if you're 6'2" and looking pissed!
