A letter from Sakngea to Xiu, 40 days since his disappearance. The letter arrived via a carrier, and the words are written in a strangely clear fashion, with a slightly feminine touch. The ink is red as a cherry, and the paper is soft to the touch.
My Xiu
Hyun Chun wishes that I write you now. I feel less edgy these days, and me and my master work in tandem, we are a single entity. She wants to speak freely to you, even though I am careful with my words any way. She always watches. I wish I had been allowed to speak with you before, but I had to train in peace. And now my training is complete. I can level mountains, Xiu. With a single fluid swing, I could kill a man. I have finally achieved the power I need, all thanks to Master Hyun.
Oh, and she is lovely, Xiu. A goddess, you could say. She is wise beyond years, and she has taught me how to focus my strength. I can feel her within me, her breath is my breath. Do you understand, Xiu? She is excited to meet you, she says. I wonder, will you like her? Please, like her Xiu. Don't make her mad.
I need to touch you, Xiu. My hands shake with eagerness. I need to see your face, but will you want to see mine? I have been taught many things while I was gone. I have spilled blood, Xiu. It is acceptable, Hyun says, for the people I killed lived in a village of thieves. I killed in the name of justice. And so will I do the same when I come back home. There will be no one left who threatens harm when I am done, Xiu.
Aren't you proud of me?
I sit every night and think of you. It makes Hyun most jealous, but I do it anyways. Do you miss me as well, Xiu? Hyun doesn't like me to feel this way for you, she says it is waste of energy, but is it? It is tiring to care for a person, Xiu? I feel tired every day, worrying about you and my family. But I would have it no other way, Xiu.
The murderer will die when I come back, I promise this. You must promise not to stop me. It must be done, and I won't be stopped. Hyun wont' let me be stopped. Together, we will level the city, and build it up again. A world of peace, with both sides gone. We can restart then, Xiu. The war will be over, with Hyun Chun's help, everything will be okay.
Just promise you won't attempt to stop this. It is the way of the world, I know this.
It is late now, and Hyun wishes that we sleep now. I am looking up at the moon through the trees, and the wind is blowing through the grass. It is time to sleep, but I keep writing to you. It's like a spell, thinking of you. I will be home soon, Xiu. I will put everything in its place. I will make a perfect world, just you, me and Hyun.
