Hey there everyone, I'm Nick, and I've been a huge fan of DQ since what..5 years ago? VIII was my first and I'm not ashamed to say, I almost got through half the game in two days pulling a couple of all nighters. Favorite game in the series is probably 8, though 9 is a VERY close second, Angelo FTW! No least favorites game wise. My favorite monster? The adorable cuddly little slime. -pets Slime that's on my head- Good Frederick...

I would totally pull Dragon Quest all-nighters if I didn't get tired so darn easily. I envy you. Warm welcomes abound!

Glad to have you here, no shame in VIII being your first DQ at all, it's quite a popular one to start off with due to a good, reasonable price and easy to find! I think Angelo is my favourite character in DQVIII as well, I just always had a thing for him, being a frisky male healer, but also a decent attacker.

Dragon Quest... Dragon Quest... Dragon Quest... where was I? Oh, right, introducing myself.
Ahem- my Dragon Quest career started years ago when a little boy with a gameboy color learned about a magical cartridge called Dragon Warrior Monsters. I had been banned from Pokemon due to my parents belief of the series at the time, so this turned into a great substitute- but better. I could breed monsters, raise them to kick butt, and got further than the then current owner of the game- he then wanted it back, which made me a sad Bat.
Anywho, later on a friend let me borrow Dragon Warrior I and II for the gameboy, my world and knowledge of the series grew- and I became drawn to the rest of the series. I have played the following: Dragon Quest I and II, Dragon Quest IX, Dragon Quest Monsters I and II, as well as Joker- and currently I am working my way through VIII so I can make notes for my research.
In the end- slimes rule, but Dracky is better. What now? Hahah.

Welcome to the Dragon Quest Guild, and glad to have you on board! And Drackies? Better than Slimes? I knew some people thought it, but no one has ever had the guts to say it! In addition, I've never played any of the Monsters games aside from Joker, so I'd love to hear more on those. I love your username, by the way.

Well, I can give a long length talk about it. Both games were amazing, one for it's story, two for it's fresh ideas on the first game and the amount of monsters- it makes Pokemon look sad- as well as Joker. Glad you like my username- I'm pencil thin- and I am working into becoming an aristocratic gentleman. Ballroom dancing, learning proper etiquette, I enjoy wearing formal wear of a more victorian gothic flare, and am picking up an enjoyment of classical literature and ideas- basically, a backwards evolution of "modern *coughmancough.*

Hi I'm user kefkadragon. Just call me dragon here (don't want dq fans to hate the fact I'm a ff fan flame shield ready) 8 was my first game. I got 4 years ago had to restart it twice and still haven't beaten it because I had controller problems. I plan to try again on my newer ps2 this long weekend. Slimes are much better than drackies. Ive beaten the story for 9 but I have a crapload of quest and grottoes to do still. I love rocket slime so much I only have 3 Slimes and the statues left to get. That game is amazing. Dq is amazing. Slimes will conquer the world

Same here I also started with Monsters as well even though i didn't like I&II that much III was the one that really got me into the series, i actually had a friend that played monsters with me of course I was enjoying it more then him but that's a story for another with a fairly sad ending. Anyway hello all as I said I started with monsters about the same year it came out, well really I have played I&II before but didn't like them all that much still liked III more but I&II are still fun. I have played mostly the spin-off games then the main series still got to finish 9, and you can say that this was technically my first RPG has I hadn't played any before that time, so this both got me into the RPG genre and the series. And I'm going to end with this I have been planning to do a LP of Monsters but still deciding on it just thought I would put that out.

kefkadragon Just call me dragon here (don't want dq fans to hate the fact I'm a ff fan flame shield ready) Nah, I'll call you Kefka after my favorite Final Fantasy villain. I doubt that there will be any "hate" here- to be honest, they are both Square-Enix games now, I'm actually quite happy about the merger. But welcome, sit on down, have a pint. As for you Tayu, glad to see someone else who started in the same fashion as I did. Welcome, pull up a seat- actually, scratch the pint, we'll have tea instead. A warrior needs a good cup of tea before slaughtering millions! saving the day.

If you don't know about DQ 1 and 2's age going into them, then I can see why one would be disappointed. They have not aged as well as 3 and those that follow. Though I still hold respect for them for what they did for the industry. Anyway, welcome to the guild! Glad to have ya! And we have another monsters fan! I really need to get my hands on more monsters games. Also, kefkadragon Slimes are much better than drackies. Ive beaten the story for 9 but I have a crapload of quest and grottoes to do still. Also, glad to have ya aboard! Don't you worry about any FF hate. Many of us actually like Final Fantasy, at least to a degree. And even if we didn't, we wouldn't let people be unfairly cruel. You're allowed to be Kefka, Kefka.

Otherwise, my bias goes to the Drackies. Even in monsters an average group of drackies would overrun a slime- then comes in the super breeding fights- that's a different story. As for Kefka- be Kefka, just not the one I look up to when it comes to villain designs- that man hates the world and is a perfect inspiration for any boss monster.

As for drackies I don't really like them. They are just ugly and annoying. A metal slime or metal medley could easily take down a drackie. Also there are only 4 or 5 types of drackies (in 8 and 9 anyway) there is over 10 types of Slimes. Slimes also made it to be an item on gaia. Slimes are so cute. I love them. I don't like drackies.

Now now, gentlemen, if we cannot agree to respect each other's monster preferences, then I'm going to unfortunately ask to disband this conversation.
Besides, Golems are boss! Descendant of Erdrick had to earn the money to afford that Mirror Shield SOME way, and Gold Golems were there for him!
