Polaris swung his niece around, before setting her down on the ground. "Okay, you little scamp, what do you want to do while your mom is out having fun?" he asked with a grin.

((We could have them go somewhere and run into Ishmael's mom and son, both pretty nasty baddies. Or we could just have them go do something together.))

The baddie was nursing his third glass of water when he saw a pretty faefox walk up to the café. Every time another fae walked up, especially a female faefox, he'd been feeling extra nervous, but this time he knew it was her. He could recognize the family resemblance, knew that this was Polaris's sister. He glanced down at a scrip of paper in his paw, double-checking her name - "Solstice," he murmured quietly to himself. He waited on pins-and-needles as the hostess directed the pretty faefox over to his table, and offered her a smile as she walked over. Somehow it helped him calm down a little, himself. He stood as she approached the table. "Hi, I'm Ishmael. You must be Polaris's sister."

((Umm...if you feel like playing that many faes at once they can run into them. LOL))

Cassie smiled and cuddled her uncle lightly. "We should go for a walk, it is a nice day outside...I want to play." She giggled and kissed his cheek. "Is there fun places to play around here?"

Solstice followed the hostess and smiled, she seeing the lone fae sitting there as she came over, she nodding to him as the hostess pulled out her seat. "You didn't have to stand.." She took her seat slowly, careful to not stumble or be otherwise clumsy. "Yea...I am Polaris' sister...He has spoken very highly of you, Ishmael..." She gave him a soft smile, she was so nervous, and it showed in her eyes.

((Pfft, that's not too many characters. And having a bunch isn't particularly hard, anyway. It's only two "scenes", which will each shape for me as a whole.))

The purple faefox smiled and gently placed her on the ground again, leading her out the door. "Yes, there are several good places around here. Would you like to go to a park? There should be several other young faes there that you can play with."

Ishmael took the chair from the hostess, holding it for his "date". "It's no problem, miss Solstice. In fact, it's an honor to meet you." He was being on his best behavior, although mostly from nervousness; he found it easier to ignore the flutter in his stomach by putting on a show of being a gentleman. If only because when he was a younger, it had always upset his mother so much. The hostess handed Solstice a menu as Ishmael sat back down.

((Haha, if you say so dear, it will be you playing all the characters. ^.~ ))

Cassie stood there, looking up at her uncle and cocking her head to the side. She making it look like she was thinking hard, actually putting a finger to her chin. "Hmm....well i guess a park will be ok. I mean, little kids are fine and all..." She giggled and flicked her tail back and forth at him.

Solstice grinned and watched him take his seat, she flicking her tail side to side abit as she leaned in and watched him. "an honor hmm?I would like to know what my brother said about me that you think I such and honor to be here with you." She laughed.

"...But you think you have a better idea?" He grinned down at his niece. "All right then, little miss smarty-pants, what would you like to do?"

The baddie blinked at her for a moment, and then grinned. "That you're smart, a good conversationalist, and that you have a good sense of humor with a bit of a dry wit. Although I also could just have been trying to be a gentleman, I suppose. It's up to you to figure it out." He winked, teasing a little.

Cassie giggled and shrugged. "Well...I have never been to the arks here...I do not know if they are fun or not...right?" She bounced and faced him. "Tell me about them....do they have a playground?" She gave him a inquisitive glance.

Solstice chuckled and nodded. "I see...well if my brother said such things he is crazy...I...am terrible at conversation...and...I am not very witty...I am afraid." She looked at the male and saw the wink, she shaking her head. "You are abit of a flirt..."

"Oh yes, several playgrounds. One is right on a lake, and some of the slides and swings go out over the water. There's another that's built into a big sprawling oak, with a tree-fort at the top. And another that's just a typical playground, with swings and sandbox and all of play equipment you've ever heard of. Or we could go to one of the nature parks, with paths leading through different areas, with trees and plants, or with planted gardens with flowers. Which would you prefer, Cassie?" He grinned. "Or we could go exploring, and maybe find one I haven't seen before."

Ishmael looked a bit nonplussed for a moment, before smoothing over his expression. "You sell yourself short. And such pronouncements are quite likely to become self-fulfilling prophecies," he replied gently. "And yes, I flirt a bit. You should try it. It's fun, I promise. Especially with a lady as pretty as you." He couldn't quite resist the last bit, although it was certainly true.

Cassie thought, she actually tilting her head from side to side as she worked through the options. "I like the idea of water slides...Is the water cold? Can I dunk you in the water?" She giggled and nearly bounced at the idea. The girl really did love the water.

Solstice chuckled and shrugged. "I am not certain i even know how to flirt. I can give looks, smile, talk, but I do not see that as flirting. I mean...doesn't flirting make a person seem desperate to get attention?" She blinked and then blushed, he lowering her head. "Not....not that...I mean...your not just..damn..." She let her head hit the table, hiding in her arms.

Polaris laughed. "The water park then. The water should be really nice this time of year, but if you want to dunk me, you'll have to catch me first!" he said, leading her out the door and locking it behind them. Just as he finished, he took off down the street at an easy lope. He was running just quickly enough that Cassie would have to push herself to keep up, but not fast enough to outpace his much smaller niece. He glanced behind, grinning, to make sure she was reasonably keeping up.

"Why wouldn't those be flirting? Flirting is just showing the other person that you're interested, even if it's only in getting to know each other better. It doesn't even have to be romantic interest." He smiled at her gently. "And yes, I've been flirting with you, and I'd love to get attention from you, friendly or more so... but I'd like to think it hasn't come off as desperate?" He shrugged. "Flirting is, yes, about showing that you welcome the attention. But if done correctly, there's nothing 'desperate' about it. I'm saying, 'I would like to get to know you better,' and that's it. And I'm having fun doing it." And the grin was back, a little bit teasing, a little bit self-deprecating.

Cassie blinked and took off full tilt after her uncle. It was not fair that he got a head start. "Hey!! Come back here you!" She giggled as she ran, she would not be able to run for forever, but she did have alot of energy. That and the idea of dunking him fueled her legs. "You will be dunked!!"

Solstice blinked. "Most men I have met...have not been so easy going with their flirting. Their flirting has meant much less innocent things, though I thank you for explaining yours. I simply...have a hard time understanding the flirting...perhaps it is the mother in me...well..the new mother in me...I feel like flirting will cause trouble...even if I want so much trouble..." She laughed lightly before blushing. "Sorry..."

The park wasn't too far from Polaris's house, so it didn't take the pair long to reach it. Even the adult faefox was panting by the time they reached there, and he'd slowed down enough to make sure he didn't lose his niece as her shorter legs wore her out faster. Laughing a bit, he leaned against a tree near the water's edge. Somehow he'd already forgotten her promise to dunk him, and wasn't paying too much attention...

"Then clearly you've been meeting the wrong kind of men," he replied with a self-deprecating half-smile. "Although being a parent isn't a reason to hold back. I've got a son myself. I wish he'd had a mother around growing up, instead of my mother..." A trace of bitterness seeped in there, if she was paying attention.

The little girl was tired, she running fast about half the way before having to rest, she giggling and smiling as her uncle continued to run. It was when they got to the park and she saw him rest near the tree that she got her energy back, she squealing at the top of her lungs as she tackled him, jumping on his back and kissing his cheek. "You won!! Not fair!!!"

Solstice smiled. "You have a son? Might I ask why then you are not with the mother?" She knew she was being direct, but her own issues clouded her mind and she had to know. "Should not the father of a child remain with the mother, I mean, after all, that is the nature of things." She wrung her hands together under the table. "But...you are right...being a mother....doesn't...give me and excuse..."

"Ack, hey!" He laughed, trying to grab her. "Come back here, you little monkey!" After he'd caught his breath a little more, he continued, "And it was perfectly fair, I'm faster than you, so I won our little race. Which, now that we're here..." She'd promised to dunk him, but with her on his back, jumping in the water seemed the obvious choice. With a grin he splashed into a spot he knew was deep, quickly getting the water up to both their necks.

Ishmael shook his head. "I could ask why you're not with the father of your daughter, and I imagine it would be the same answer. Either you or he decided it was not love written in the stars, and ended it, after you had eggs. So it was with us, although by mutual agreement. I do hope to find a mate some day, but as much as I cared for my son's mother, it wasn't she," he finished with a shrug.

As her uncle walked into the water with her, she squealed, she kicking and giggling as she clung to him for dear life. "Cold!! it is cold!!!" She flailed abit harder, she kissing his cheek. "So mean, I said I was going to dunk you...not you me.." She pouted.

Solstice nodded and sighed. "I do suppose that it is how it is. I would have been happy to stay is Cassie's father...but...it was not about to happen. He was a baddie, and not really one to settle down in the long run." She crossed her arms around herself, she feeling abit cold, rubbing her upper arms. "Sorry..I guess we should at least be talking to each other and not about our pasts, huh?"

Polaris laughed. "Oh, I haven't dunked you yet," he replied, before taking a dramatically big breath. That was all the warning she had as he dropped fully into the water, soaking both of them completely.

Janan looked around the park as she arrived with her grandson, a bit of a scowl on her face. She'd gotten saddled with him today, her job to take care of the little brat as her good-for-nothing son went on a date. Not that she really minded taking care of Jair, it wasn't like her son was doing a good job of raising him, but she had to make a fuss for the show of the thing.

Jair tugged at his grandmothers paw, and she finally let him go. The young baddie grinned and ran off, looking for someone he could kick sand at, or splash with cold water, or cause some other kind of mischief to.

He smiled wryly. "Well, our pasts do make us who we are, don't they?" At that time the waitress showed back up. "If you're ready to order...?" she asked, trying to carefully break into their conversation.
