Anila smiled. Even if he didn’t know it Marcus had helped her out more then he could have ever guessed. The fear of locking up while flying was a daunting one, especially when it meant death after a drop and knowing you were going to perish. Anila followed Marcus up to the spring but didn’t dare sip from it. She didn’t want to contaminate the beautiful clear water. Instead she looked at it carefully following the edges of the spring with her eyes, marveling at the pristine reflective powers of the pool. She could see the flowers being reflected and it looked as if there were two worlds both with flowers and clear blue sky, only separated by a hair fissure of a line that was the spring’s edge.

His thirst sufficiently quenched, Marcus turned back to Anila who, he noticed, followed him over to the spring but didn't drink from it. "You aren't thirsty at all?" he asked. "You fell out of the sky, after all. And we've been climbing up and down mountains all day."

Anila was very thirsty. Is it really ok for me to drink from the spring here? It's so clear and pristine right now. I don't want to muck it up. Anila blushed a bit when she said this. It sounded stupid but she truly didn't want to mess up Marcus's place

"Muck it up?" Marcus repeated, a little confused by her worries. "I just drank from it, and I'm inviting you to do so as well. How could you possibly destroy the serenity and beauty of the area when you blend in so well?" Frankly, Marcus was surprised at how complimentary he was being. Again.

Anila blushed. Marcus was so nice to compliment her. “A-all right. I suppose that since you drank already it won’t cause any damage if I take a drink also.” Anila came up and drank from the spring. The taste of the spring was clear and delicious. The water was so pure light. Anila felt like she was drinking liquid heaven as she quenched her thirst.

Marcus waited patiently for Anila to finish, satisfied that she was no longer dehydrated. He waited as she continued to drink, exmining the field yet again. It was, he was glad to see, just as he remembered it, and he was not yet tired of the view. Of course, he was also glad he could share it with Anila.
He turned back to her, waiting patiently for her to finish.

Anila raised her head after quenching her thirst with the liquid ambrosia. She licked her lips contentedly. That was delicious Marcus. She trotted up next Marcus. She felt completely at peace standing next to him. This was a new feeling to Anila since Rynn had always made her worried or distracted. It was a good feeling and Anila didn’t want it to fade.

Once Anila had joined him, Marcus tilted his head in her direction. "See," he said, "you didn't muck it up at all. I'm sure you couldn't if you tried." He gave a small smile, not taking his eyes off a particular light blue flower swaying gently in the wind. It wasn't too spectacular, being similar to the surrounding flowers, but it had somehow caught his eye.

Feeling uncharacteristically calm Anila took a moment to inhale the scent of the flowers. It was incredible. Being here, with Marcus, made her feel as if she was completely one with the world. Everything was ok now and would be eventually in the long run. Certainly she would have difficult times every now and then but who didn't?
Tentatively she leaned over and placed her head on Marcus's shoulder. Thank you. I get so panicked that I will fail since I have always been told that I was a failure. I suppose after a time I began to believe it was true. I worried that everything I touch would become ask that I didn't want too touch anything that I could remotely like. I know this probably sounds silly to you, but spending time with you has changed that somewhat. I know I still have a long way to go, but I think I can take a step in that direction now. Oh how Anila wanted to tell Marcus of the feelings that were blossoming in her chest for him! Still she didn't think that she could be that bold. Not quite yet anyways. Instead she settled for rubbing her head ever so slightly on his shoulder and looked out at flowers. It was incredible the way the white clouds and flowers seemed to want to dance to one another.

Marcus was a little shocked at first when he felt Anila rest her head on his shoulder, but very quickly recovered before she could notice. "You didn't deserve to be told any of that," he said quietly, resting he own head on top of hers. The Phim's fur was very comfortable and Marcus was eased.
"No one deserves to hear that as much as you have," he repeated. "And I'm glad that I've changed you ad made you less worrisome. I'd never want you to fee like a failure, Anila. And I want you to enjoy the things you like."

Anila sniffed not wanting to cry on Marcus's fur. She felt so comfortable there next to Marcus; she never wanted to leave. You are far to kind Marcus. I suppose that's why I like you so much. Anila's cheeks reddened and she pulled her head off of Marcus's shoulder and out from under his head. N-not that I like like you.. and not that I don't like l-like you, because I do like like you. Anila was incredibly embarrassed as she realized what she had admitted. There was a moment of awkward silence as Anila stood there looking at Marcus mortified. I'm sorry. I'll go now. Anila turned and began to head away from Marcus her wings tucked close around her for comfort.

Marcus gave Anila an amused, yet kind smile. "Where are you going, exactly?" He asked with a bit of a chuckle, trotting in front of her path. Stopping directly in front of her, staring straight into her eyes, and continuing to smile. "Despite how confused you seem to be," he said with a light laugh, "I'm certain of how I feel about you, Anila. I love you."

Staring at Marcus it took Anila a moment to realize her mouth was slightly ajar. No one has ever said that they loved me before. Marcus hardly even knows me. How can he know that he is in love with me in such a sort amount of time? Doesn’t it take longer to know? I know I shouldn’t feel so happy about this. Why am I so happy? I hardly even know him. It’s like receiving a love confession from a stranger. I don’t know his family or anything! Isn’t he embarrassed to say that to a Phim who can’t even fly and is constantly called a failure? Why should he even like me? Marcus how can you be so certain? Anila’s eyes showed her joy in his statement but her voice trembled softly
