This is an interesting thought. Most of the couples in my band are dating out of section. The longest (that I know of) is the piccolo and tuba, and they are adorable! My best friend is a percussionist, and her boyfriend is my section-buddy. Haha, I've dated out of section, too, I play bass clarinet, and I've dated saxophones (I have a thing for them, what can ya do?), and a trumpet. My boyfriend now has nothing to do with music, though >.< but aaaaaanyways, yeah, most of the couples aren't in the same section. I think it's because you've known them all your band career, I guess, and you think of them as siblings. It's just weird when you date in-section, and if you think about it, you could break up and it might be awkward...

Its hard enough being sl to friends. You want to yell at them, but afraid they might get mad at you about it.

And I play tsax in marching band, and next year will be my year as co-section leader. It's gonna be hard because my ex is joining next year, and he's made my life a living hell so far, and he plays saxophone also. >.<

I'm the only one in the whole band that is a dating a fellow trumpet player. I've dated a percussionist once, but somehow it didn't last long. Wonder why....

People in my band don't really date other band members but, I know that Flute players generally date Trombone, Trumpet, or Sax in DCHSMB.

There are a lot of couples in my band this year, more than previous years: snare - keyboard snare - color guard tuba/bass guitar - keyboard bass drum - tenor sax(didn't last) bass drum- alto sax trumpet - trumpet
now that I think about it in most of our couples at least one person is in drumline
