He looked over and couldn't help but smile..briefly of course. "The price paid is a little more unoriginal than you think." he felt her paw take his and squeeze it.
"He won't be hard to find. It wouldn't surprise me if he's listening right now" he said as he looked around at the forest scenery, more specifically the shadows of things. Any one of them was a portal to an alternate reality...To what, well..He only heard Elysia talk about such dimensional fluxes.
"Being a servant of darkness, his goal is to turn all those who are light to dark. Cliche, but it works." He said. His tone wasn't so grim. Selling a soul to darkness was nicer than selling it to a devil. At least with darkness you got to keep your very being..you were just..off your rocker mad

"Really now?" She inquired, but seemed thrown off by the fact he could be listening....right now. Looking around she found herself walking closer to Jerome; how was it these kinds of beings always had something you needed of them instead of remaining blissfully unaware of their presence? "Oh wait....you mean i'd be turned into something dark and a servant to this fellow!?" She wasn't sure she wanted to lose who she was to get some armor....she had more to think about than just her wants afterall with a family now.
However as she looked up the path she noticed the trees had began to thin. Their pace had been great since it looked like the location was close. "Looks like we're almost there!" Koyuki pointed down the path. "Once the trees stop; its the edge of the cliff faces and you can look down on the vast sights!"

"Well...." he was about to continue explaining, but when he saw she had said something about almost being there. He looked forward and saw the landscape had indeed changed. How long had they been walking?
"Really? Well, that's good." he commented as he looked up. "It's almost sunset." he added, then looked to her, wondering if she would be willing to run, or even see if she was thinking the remotely same thing as he was

"Almost..." She smiled brilliantly, her tail beginning to sway faster in a joyous wag. The trip wasn't as bad as she had thought, but she was sure the time had gone by much faster catching up and being with Jerome.
Indeed she had been thinking the same thing as she caught his gaze with a grin. However, she knew logically she wouldn't be able to run with the basket on her back; as the walk already had made her legs ache lightly from the trip. "Go ahead...i'll catch up!" She knew she'd still make it as the trees became thinner and thinner and she could see at the summet of the slope the skies began to create beautiful streaks of gold and reds on the dispersed, fluffy clouds.

seemingly taken aback, he looked at his path again. "I'm not going to ditch you..." he said..little could she have guessed what he was about to do next. With little to no trouble what so ever, he picked her up and let her fall on his back while he got down on all fours. It was a little nicer than trying to force a piggy back ride..which would have been complicated. "I'm taking you with me" he said as he picked up a light jog, quickly reaching the edge of the trees and the cliff edge in only a few minutes

"Well I wouldn't call it dit-ah!" The vixen yipped in surprise from her paws leaving the ground; slipping onto his back as she held on tightly out of instinct. It was nice that there was such a size difference at times, since she had no fears that he would accidentally drop her because of her weight. Chuckling, she was reminded of the many times she'd ended up catching a ride on her mate and nestled her head down against him.
Heck, she even missed this; despite always feeling a bit weird that she was the only one she knew who got rides like this.
Yet all her thoughts vanished as they stopped at the cliffs, the patches of long grass swaying from the breeze while the skies began to dye brilliant shades of reds, golds and oranges. Yet what really caught her sight was the opening between two distant mountian ridges across the valley where she could see the line of the ocean. "Jerome! Look! There it is...wow..." She pointed from his back, sighing blissfuly as she forgot to get down in her excitement.

Lowering himself to the ground so she could step off, he was mesmerized by the sun. Thanks to his visor, his eyes weren't to harmed by looking at the fading orange and red glow, but he couldn't look forever. "It's..beautiful" he said in an awestruck tone. Only time he had ever seen anything so remotely beautiful was when a planet was glassed and......well...it was beautiful...but deadly

Slipping down from Jerome once he lowered himself down, she removed the basket from her back and set it down on the ground carefully. Turning back to the amazing sunset the vixen could already feel her heart fluttering....truely in awe at the sights.
Carefully walking close to the edge, she scanned the world infront of her...wondering if it was similar to the sights Jerome could see from spaceflight and traveling to and from planets. Closing her eyes momentarily as the updraft from the wind hitting the cliffs tousled her hair and komono; she tossed a look over her shoulder to him and smiled. "Thank you....for taking me here."

He looked to her momentarily, and saw her enjoy the sights. He was happy he could have done this for her. "Anytime my love." he said as he sat back up and took the olive helmet from his head and placed it on the ground. Instinctively his hand went to smooth his hair out..which had gotten a bit too long for his tastes. He understood now why his son had a headband.
After several long and priceless moments of watching the sunset, hosting it's vibrant colors, the dusk colors set in, setting a little bit of the mood. Like a gargoyle, he started to move once more. "Shall we set up camp before it gets too dark?" he inquired, snapping his head over to a flash of light, followed by the distance sound of thunder "And...before it starts raining?" he added with a smirk

Turning back with a nod, she continued to watch the beautiful display as golds and reds turned to pinks and purples; before sultry navy and violet set in. It wasn't untill movement caught her attention and she turned...but ended up jumping from the faint sound of thunder. "Rain!" She breathed in disbelief, of course....it just had to storm when they decided not to bring a tent.
None the less with that smirk stretching across his face she returned to his side and nodded. "We better, especially that fire unless you just want fruit and veggies tonight. If you want to go gather some wood I can get a little pit ready, then we can set up the tarp together? I'll admit I have no clue how to do it..." She scratched her head sheepishly, looking down to the basket near her feet.

He chuckled lightly in response to her reaction to the clap of thunder. Then she came with a few suggestions. "It will have to be a quick fire. I'm sure that rain will squelch it" He commented, before heading off into the woods, quickly grabbing dry sticks and some tinder to start a fire. He also managed to find some flint rocks...much easier than trying to use the stick method. It never worked for him in the past, why would rubbing to sticks together make a difference now.
He returned some odd amount of minutes later with an armful of dry stuff found in the forest. Before putting it all down near what he assumed was the fire pit, he looked to the skies and estimated the travel of the storm. Although it was still just entering the horizon, it was coming fast. "I imagine we have a little more than an hour to fully enjoy the fire, Koyuki." He cautioned as he stood and picked up the tarp. Shelter first, fire second

"Hmmm, thats not good..." Luckily she had decided with the kabobs, or else she was sure it wouldn't have been enough time if she brought something more...well, extravagant. Once he was out of sight she made quick work of gathering some stones for the pit, deciding on a good spot away from the grass and close by trees where the dirt was lose. She had just enough time to push the dirt away into a deep enough pit before he returned.
"We'll have to be quick then!" She smiled, and stood up as he picked up the tarp. "You need my help right?" She wasn't sure, she knew tying was involved, but as she had never actually set up one as a shelter.

Walking over to a set of trees, he carefully studied a spot. He found a good one. a few trees lined up almost perfectly to where the tarp could stretch over the top and provide a bit of a roof. it was mostly surrounded by bushes, the smaller ones facing the edge of the cliff. Granted there were a few weeds where he wanted to sit, but he could remove those quickly. "Alright. Go over to those two trees and take this end of the tarp. When you get there, hold up the tarp as high as you can, I'll be there in a bit." he explained, handing her one end of the tarp. He waited for her to get there before taking a middle set of rings and lacing rope through it, each end quickly to a tree on either side. There was about 4 feet of tarp that hung down and almost touched the bushes. he could tie that down later.
"Are you ready?"

Following behind her mate as she knew time was of the essence if they were to get everything done in time before the storm hit; she diligently listened and held onto the tarp once it was handed to her. "I can do that!" Koyuki beamed and did as she was told, making her way over to the trees he'd said. Holding them up well over her head, she watched as made quick work of trying the tarp....finding it rather neat since they were things she'd never learned.
"Ready and still holding!" She laughed, feeling her hands lose blood and began to tingle. "Think this will keep us dry?" The vixen grinned, they'd just better hope there wouldn't be strong winds to carry the rain on too much of a slant.

He moved over to her swiftly, easily clearing the bushes near by. He took one end of the tarp and tied it quickly around one tree, then proceeded to do the same with the other side. Standing back and wiping the small amount of sweat that accumulated on his forehead, he looked back to the storm. "It should keep us mostly dry. If I can find a place to tie the front down during the storm, then we should be almost completely dry" he commented with a nod.
"Lets get that fire started and get some food ready" he said with a beaming smile as he made his way around the make shift tent. He set up a small pile of the dry twigs and stuff dry grass between the sticks. With the two flint rocks, he smacked them together, creating a spark. Quickly he blew on it and soon they had a small fire "Hot damn..first try too" he smiled
