Seeing her eyes widened had his heart pumping. But before he could react, he was forced to the ground, then saw Kay being thrown to the ground by some black thing. It wasn't what he had seen in the forest, but all the same, it freaked him out.. but priorities first. Jumping to his feet, he lept up and tried to tackled the black fox to the ground by surprise. He wasn't sure how much luck he would initially have, but it was worth a shot to at least try to get the thing off Kay

Fortunately enough there was more of Hoshi materialized than not when the male tackled him, and was brought down onto the sand before losing his shape and appeared to be standing beside Banes. "Frrriiieeennnddddd?" The shadow demon cracked a grin ear to ear, leaning down in hopes to snag a lick on his shoulder as well as a playful but eerie laugh drifted from his lips.
"Ugh!" Kay shuddered, finally staggering to her feet covered in the sticky tar like substance matting in her fur. Looking over she saw Banes and Hoshi; rolling her eyes at the demon. "What on earth did I tell you about jumping, Hoshi! Now get off him...and thanks...he's a bit too excitable." Luckily it wasn't night; as she learned the circumstances would have been dire. Damn imp...."Disgusting..." she grimaced at the sight of her own body.
"Brad...you remember Hoshi? You met him in the kitchen a long while back..."

Planting a foot to Hoshi's face trying to get him off, he snarled. "Yes..I remember this thing...Didn't tell him to piss of then too?" he growled as he wiggled his way out from underneath the demonish fox. He then dived for his gun on the sand and was prepared to shoot when he saw that strange thing, yet again. This time..far to close for his comfort.
Whatever the strange skeletonlike thing was, it had unleashed a loud ear piercing screech. One that caused Banes to wither and clutch at his head hopelessly. Even though the thing was visible for a mere few seconds, it's roar fading with it in a bright flash of blue eerie light, he could still feel his brain bouncing around in his head, seemingly try to escape from the noise itself.

"I'm pretty sure you did....but i'm pretty sure he has selective hearing..." She laughed at their struggle, trying not to make light of the situation but other than ingesting the tar he seemed to be harmless in the daylight. "Get now Hosh- AIE!" The Vixen gasped and dropped to her knees, painfully trusting her paws over her ears as the ear splitting sounds felt as if it broke her ears drums.
Hoshi on the other hand; bristled and whipped his head around to see the strange creature, the smoke turning into thrashing tendrils. Letting out a cry of his own, he whisked himself away swiftly into the forest without a second thought....he might have been crazy but he wasn't dumb by any means - not wanting to test out the creature for himself.
Curling in on herself as the sounds sent a horrible chill down her spine, she managed to crack and eye open to see the terrible creature before it vanished; but made no movements as she still felt disorientated.

Feeling the scrambling of his won brain finally settling, and regaining MOST of his hearing back. He uncurled slowly and looked around, slightly disorientated and a bit sick. He looked to Kay to she too had assumed a similar position. Wondering if he or she was deaf he tried talking.
"Are you alright?" he asked. He could hear. Though he was sure his ears were bleeding.
"Tell me you saw that too?" he asked again, in complete disregard of his own test. He looked back from where he saw the thing to where she was, then to where Hoshi.....was. "At least it scared him away to. Although why did it have to it so loudly" he thought outloud

As the sounds of silence continued without interruption, the vixen finally sat up on her knees only to wobble a bit before bracing herself with her paws as she remained haunched over. It was gone...right? Immediately looking to Banes to see if he was alright, she was relieved to see him alright; and Hoshi and the creature no where in sight.
Was she really so cursed to be drawing the craziest s**t to her? Who knew; but she seemed to panic for a moment as she could see his lips moving but not a sound. "I can't hear!" She yelled way too loudly, untill she winced as the movement of her jaw must have popped her ear untill she could hear the same ringing as if she'd spent the entire night infront of loud speakers. "Oh wait....thats a little better..." Still loud, she rubbed her ears and nodded; managing to catch what he said. "I did...is that what you saw?"

Looking back over to her, he was about ready to repeat himself, but she seemed to regain her hearing without much problems. But seeing as she didn't hear the first part, he nodded but asked again: "Are you alright?"
He stood up, a little wobbly at first, but he quickly regained his balance, and although having the sound of a high pitched ring in his ear, he felt most things return to normal. Aside obviously the shaky experience they both had encountered.

Man, did her ears sting something feirce! Shaking her head a few times, she looked up as Banes got himself to his feet and nodded her head once again. "Yes....albeit being covered in demon residue, sand and a buzzing in my ears..." ...and of course wondering nervously what the hell that thing was. Yet no need for that as she was sure he was feeling it too.
Finally feeling well enough to draw herself onto her own feet, she folded her ears back as she knew she would need to get this off of her. However she turned and walked over to stand beside Banes, placing a paw on his shoulder. "You alright?" He was afterall much closer to that creature than she was, surprised he could hear at all.

He watched her stand. Again to him it was in slow motion with beauty behind her steps. AAAHH!! Why am I thinking about this so much! he thought to himself trying not to show this little setbeck in emotions. Although she put a paw on his shoulder and her was now like putty in her paws. "Yes I'm fine now.." he fought back every urge to finish the sentence with 'thanks to you'.
He looked to the black...slimy stuff covering small portions of her body. "Is that stuff...hard to get off?" he had some impression that it was, but he wasn't entirely sure why

"Good...I guess its never good when an officer gets the creeps huh!" She couldn't help but laugh in hindsight, perhaps she would need to pay more attention next time and get the hell out least she couldn't dodge this weirdness bullet again.
Twisting her head to look down at the gunk on her shoulder and along her back from the demon; she gave a rather unimpressed look at the thought. "Kind of. Usually boiled water will take this stuff right off; but the lake will have to do with a bit of elbow grease. Purified and all that you see." She added with a sigh and dropped her arm, taking the opportunity to walk back over and into the water to stand waist deep. Splashing the water on her arm she began to scrub the thickening essence, some of it starting to run off her arm as if it were turning into a oil before dispersing and vanishing on the water.
"....do you think that thing has any connection with what you were telling me earlier?" She called back.

While she walked over to the water, he had to turn away. Partially to make sure there wasn't some creepy glowy skeleton waiting for him, and also because his little thoughts of her would continue to bug him. No monster...good..now walk over to the duffel bag casually. He was doing good. He was about halfway there when she called back to him. Knowing it was rude to talk away from someone he turned, and was bombarded by more thoughts. He resisted them to the best
"...About what now?" He wasn't directly sure as to what she was reffering to, so he felt it safe to ask. If anything it might have given him a few moments to turn back, and continue his trek to the bag...unless of course she looked to him

"You know...about that thing you saw, the investigation? I've never hear anything remotely close to what that was ever at the shop; and trust me I hear a lot behind the counter." She replied casually before trying to reach the spots on her back with a few awkward grunts and twists. Note to self....fox bodies are not as flexible... She thought before her muscle spasmed slightly in pain, drawing her arms back with a sigh....before looking back over to Banes.
Should she? It seemed rather...rude, she didn't know him super well and all....but hey; worst was a no, right? Putting on a sheepish smile, she pointed her paw to her back and the two strips of essence and sand sticking to her fur. "Uhhm. I hate to be a bother....but.....a little help, possibly?"

Having reached the duffel bag, he opened it up once more and pulled out a water. Before he took a drink he answered her question. "It could be. But there's no viable evidence right now....could just be an oddball creature." he said before unscrewing the cap and taking a long swig. He wasn't expecting her next question after her twisting and turning.
He couldn't help but spew a mouthful water when she had asked him that question. "I'm...sorry...Come again?" he said as he wiped the dripping water from his chin away with his forearm

Raising her brows as he spewed the water from his mouth at the mere mention of the question, the vixen turned a shade of crimson and quickly turned around in the water. It didn't seem that far-fetched, did it? None the less she tried to reach once again but could only graze the substance with her paw tips.
"Ah...nevermind! I'll get it myself..." She called with a wave of her paw, walking along the shallow end to see if she could find a stick to scrape it off or something.

Feeling a little embarrassed by his reaction, and her response he set his water down and walked over. "No it's ok..it just surprised me" he said as he couldn't help but feel his face get a little hot from blushing. He knelt down behind her and tried to rub the stuff off, occasionaly throwing some water on it to loosen it up. Eventually the small amount of black ooze trickled off
"There" he said returning his hands as quickly as possible to his space
