"oh. Well, whatever then," Mariah said casually. She could tell there was something deeper about Danica's reply but didn't want to push her into divulging why. If she wanted to tell, she would. "It's fine either way.
"So besides the activities of the group you mentioned, what else do you do?"

Danica looked back at her friend. "Nothing. The reason I can't visit is because the group's leader is very strict with who we assocciate with. I'd have to ask him permission and he's not really easy to talk to. Hey, i got an idea! What if you meet him?!" She asked happily.

Mariah laughed. "Well, I don't want to get any more involved with the DBC. But if he's not going to send me on some mission thing, then sure--that'd be great."

"No he won't. He might ask you to join, but you don't have to. Just as a warning, he's not exactly...the best company." Danica said taking Mariah's hand and leading her to what looked like an abandond building.

They entered the building and she went to the bury man again. "Hey, need to see Ja-Boss again." Danica said.
The burly man nodded and let her by, but stopped Mariah.
Danica turned back, "No, she comes." She said. The man looked at Mariah and then decided to let her pass.

The seven year old turned to face the two girls.
"Who is this Danica?" He asked, still childish.
"Mariah. She's a friend of mine." Danica said polietly, but still she didn't really like a seven year old bossing her around.

"I'm an athlete and student at the college. " Mariah explained. "I live near the western gate of town, with my horse, since my mom kicked me out of the house in May after getting a double."

"Yes," Mariah smiled. Not the nicest of company, indeed."
She gazed at the setting sun and decided she ought to get home soon. "Are you doing anything tomorrow? I was going to pick up my schedule and assignments in the morning, but I have nothing planned for the week so we can hang out or something if you'd like."
