"Form a bond with your sister... one day you may need her help," Tori smiled. "Sure they are pains in the asses now but isn't there a saying that goes something like 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger'?" She chuckled.
For a moment her face held a funny look. She couldn't remember the last time, if ever, she had called mom by anything other than mom- or a variation of it. Also she couldn't understand how a parent could love one child more than the other. "Why do you say Xai and not your mom? And why do you think she doesn't love you the same... It's a parents special ability to have time for everything- kid's' included," she emphasized the 's'.
Tori had been up to so much lately that she hardly knew where to begin, so she just decided to list it and let Evari ask about it. "Three times a week I go to the library to read to the tots, then go for dagger training, and then go back to the library for sign language classes. And, now amongst all that I practice for the teen symphony and on open nights I play at my uncles cafe... Oh, and then of course there are my sisters, personal days, and my studies."

Evari wanted to laugh. She didn't, but she wanted to. Help? From Tyyne? Her? Pff! Like that would ever happen. But she did snicker at Victoria's cursing, raising a brow and munching on her strawberry some more. "Aren'tcha not supposed to talk that way, 'Tori? Yer a lady~." And ladies weren't supposed to use such 'dirty' words. She shrugged a bit at the quote, finishing the strawberry and picking up a cookie to try it. Delicious! She just about squealed with delight, chewing on the cookie and watching Victoria's face. That was odd. Was something wrong?
Oh...was that all? Evari blinked. "Cause she's Xai?" She shrugged, tilting her head a little. "She said she's Xai...soooo she's my Xai. S'that wrong?" Even if it was Evari didn't care. She didn't have to suddenly call Xai 'mom', that would be too weird. She listened quietly to Victoria's thoughts on how a parent felt, shrugging again and eating another bite of her cheesecake. Of course Xai liked Tyyne more. Tyyne was sweet, pretty, quiet, a suckup...she did all the things Xai probably wished Evari would do but she couldn't do. Why would she bring home another daughter for any other reason? She didn't want to talk about siblings anymore. They sucked.
"That's cool...dagger training? Like, real daggers?" Evari looked shocked. Victoria? This sweet prissy girl? Daggers?

"Who the ******** cares how I talk," Tori chuckled. "Mom says I get it from my dad. She says we both need to curve it. However, its just such a habit now that it slips out more often than it should."
She twisted a finger into the end of one of her curls. "Please, just hear me out... you don't even have to reply. She's your Xai that's what makes her special to you. But we have bonds that form with people and at the end of the day she is your mom. I'm not saying to make it an every day thing but remind her just once in a while how much she means to you. I bet you that's the difference between you and your sister... it has nothing to do about favorites." She knew in the end it was Evari's choice if she listened and also if she took it to heart and used it.
"Are my daggers real?" Tori chuckled as she sent the question back to Evari. She thought for a moment where the easiest one to access was. After a moment she leaned forward and pulled out the dagger that was strapped in place at her ankle. "You tell me," she grinned as she sat it down on the table in front of Evari.

Now Evari laughed. Victoria was so interesting! So her dad cursed...Evari's only influence was television for that kind of talk. And even still she didn't use it very often. She blinked and tilted her head to the side when told to listen to what Victoria had to say and that she didn't even need to reply to it, looking very curious but confused. Well yeah, Xai was special to her. She knew that...right? Ha! Of course she did. "Mom's a weird word." She said with a shrug, looking down at all their food. Hmmm what next? She drank some of her milk and reached over to steal a cherry out of the fruit bowl. She had cherries on her cheesecake but she wanted more!
"Well...I dunno...they could be fake~." Evari said when the question was directed back at her, watching Victoria lean over and get something. A bladed object was put on the table and Evari stared at it, shocked. Whoa...seriously? She put her fork down and picked it up, gently poking at the tip of the blade with her finger. Evari gasped and brought her hand away from it. It was sharp! Whoa! It was real! "Whooooa...no way! Why d'you got daggers?"

"Just remind her once in a while how special she is to you. Actions speak louder than words and also help confirm thoughts. If mom is a weird word for you tell her that- you'll make your bond stronger in the long run," Tori smiled.
"As dad puts it... I wasn't born with claws, jaws, or a natural defense. Unless you count my smarts and he says that it is mostly book smarts and not street smarts," as Tori spoke she watched Evari. "What it comes down to is that now I have a way to protect myself," she chuckled. "I usually have at least four on me but he gave me a set of five."

Just remind her, huh? But what would calling Xai a weird name do? Wouldn't it just make Evari uncomfortable? She thought the bond between her and Xai was pretty strong already even with the obstacle of Tyyne constantly getting in her way, there was no way she could be...wrong...?
Evari listened to Tori's explanation behind having the dagger, turning it this way and that. Evari didn't have any of those things and she didn't have a dagger...huh. "Huh...don'tcha ever get worried you'll hurt yourself?" Evari paused a moment, staring at the dagger and then at Victoria. "Where...where do you keep them?!" She looked the girl up and down from where she could see, totally confused.

"No one is perfect. Accidents will happen. So, of course I worry," Tori said as she forked a grape. "I am training so that I know how to use them properly- as a means of protecting myself," she added the last bit after a moment of pause after the word 'properly'.
If they both hadn't been so caught up in the bathroom Evari might have noticed at least one or two of her daggers... but, that moment was over now and the only way her friend was going to know is if she told her. "Strapped to my ankle and thigh. One in my hair and one in my violin case. The fifth would be the bodice dagger, but I have a hard time concealing that one so it is the least worn and the least used..."

"I meant just carrying them around." Evari clarified with a chuckle, eating another cookie. Who would want to hurt Tori though? What could possibly happen to her that would make her need to whip out a dagger? But whatever floated her boat? Evari stole another piece of fruit before eating some more of her cheesecake slice.
Whoa! She had that many?! That made...five! Why did someone need five daggers? Whoa, Tori. Evari sat there with her fork in her mouth, staring blankly at Victoria for a moment. Her thigh, her ankle? "...I don' remember seein' those." Evari blushed as soon as she said it, putting down her fork and waving a hand. "I-I mean no-not that I...I was l-looking I..." Except she totally had. Evari's cheeks burned hotter and she forced herself to shut up by eating some more of her blueberry muffin. That was so embarrassing.

"I don't mind that you looked," Tori whispered as she pushed their plates out of the way before she half stood up and leaned inward to be that much closer to Evari. She was careful not to lay on the table. "We were a bit caught up in the moment with each other," she winked and tapped her friend on the lips.

What? Seriously?! Evari swallowed hard and her eyes widened, freezing still as Victoria got up and leaned closer to her. O-oh wow...she...she was really close again. Ah ha...ha...heh. Evari slowly nodded at her words, gasping and freezing again when her lips were tapped. "U-uh...yeah...um..." Evari had just been regaining her composure too! Damnit! She looked up at Victoria, blushing so hard and glowing bright red again. She rubbed her lips together and sank a little in her chair.
"Ah...a-about that..." She slumped in her chair and poked the tips of her index fingers together, pursing her lips for a moment. "Y-you know th-that was my first, right?" As if she was trying to explain away why the kiss might have been a bad one. She certainly liked it! For some reason. It'd made her lips tingly and she felt good! Funny, but good. B-but what if Victoria hadn't liked it? What if she was bad at it? She had to explain why?
...Wait...why the heck did she care if she was a good kisser or not? She was just a kid! Geeze!

"It was my first and won't be my last with you," Tori rolled her shoulders as she winked again. The roll of her shoulders caused her hair to fall forward just to. She could care less if it wast first, second, or hell millionth kiss. A kiss was a kiss. "I cannot, however, promise that you will be the only one I kiss."
"If I make you uncomfortable just tell me..." she added when she noticed Evari sinking more and more under the table.

"Really? With me?" Evari's eyes widened and she actually smiled. It was her first too? And she wanted to keep kissing her? Awesome! She grinned helplessly and shrugged at the promise Victoria said she couldn't give, playing with some of her own hair. "S'fine. We're just...kids...after all." Though she wished she was older.
When told to let Victoria know if she was uncomfortable Evari blinked, scratching at her cheek a little and smiling sheepishly. "M'not uncomfortable." Which actually wasn't a lie. She looked away from the other girl's face to look somewhere. Anywhere. Anywhere that wasn't the pretty face she kept blushing over. Gah! No! Bad place! Evari's skin flared for a moment and she nearly fell back in her chair as her eyes darted back up to Victoria's face, rubbing her lips together and laughing at herself. "You're...ah...poppin' outta yer dress, 'Tori." Evari told her with an embarrassed grin, wringing her hands together. "So um...is there anything you wanna do after this?"

At the comment of 'popping out of her dress' Tori sat down. It was one thing to be in the bathroom and have a 'wardrobe malfunction' and another thing entirely different for it to be in public.
As she fussed over her dress she thought about the last question. Where did Tori want to go? She didn't have the slightest idea. There was so much she'd already done and accomplished. She really wanted to expand her horizon and do something new. But, what hadn't she done?
"I've never been to a picture show before," she finally said after a moment. She was referring to the movies- she just didn't know to call it that. "We could do that."

A picture show? What the heck was a picture show? Evari blinked, shaking away the image of watching Victoria mess with her dress. Oh! "You mean a movie?" Victoria had never been to the movies?! Whoa! Evari suddenly stood up, her hands on the table and staring at Victoria with wide eyes. "Yes! I'm takin' you to a movie, Tori!" Even if it was a stupid and girly and dumb movie! She'd sit through it for this apparent movie virgin! How could she never have gone to the movies before?!
...But wait...dinner (or, er..lunch) and a movie? Evari looked down at their food and blushed again, sitting down. And kissing? Geeze, it was like this had become a date! Which...wasn't all that bad if it meant she could keep getting kissed. Evari blushed some more and propped her head up in her hand with her elbow on the table, finishing her cheesecake and her glass of milk. Nah, this wasn't a date. Definitely not a date. Evari ate the rest of her cookies and nibbled on her muffin. "I dunno what's playin' right now, but when we get there s'up to you what we see. 'Kay?" So they could see something Victoria liked for her first time.

Tori tried not to let it show on her face that she was completely bewildered by her friends sudden and erratic behavior. What was so strange about having never been to a picture show- a movie as she put it.
Her mind drifted back a bit at the mention of picture show meaning move. Was that what her and her grandma and sister had gone to? In any case she wasn't going to say anything now... Evari was far to excited.
She had enjoyed 'How to Tame a Dragon'... but, if a picture show was truly a movie (and that meant going to a theater) then she wanted to see something more 'adult'.
"Don't people go to picture shows to make out?" She asked innocently enough. "or, do families go as well? Does it depend on the picture." Her interest was thoroughly awakened.
