Journal Entry 007
I always think of Makana as such a shy girl. She's quiet, and tends to almost hide whenever Annora starts really showing off. I think she believes I haven't noticed yet, but I have. I'm just not quite sure what to do about it. And really, until now, I've been a little worried about it. But...
For such a shy girl, she certainly seems to have a knack for making friends. We went over to Patrick White's the other day because they'd invited Makana over. I think Yashima was the one who actually invited her, because he certainly seemed to like seeing her. They spent quite some time in his room. From what she told me when they came out, they were sewing. Or rather, he was, and she was learning. She seemed to like the idea of someone else sewing, but showed no real interest in doing any herself, except maybe to collect material swatches.
But then we also went to the beach, and she made a friend, there - Blue, who apparently makes wonderful sand castles. Abishai was talking to me recently about a boy named Blue who is his partner's kid. I think I'll give him a call soon and find out if they're one in the same.
All in all, I'm very relieved. Even if she is on the quiet side, Makana seems to be making a comfortable little "nest" of friends, and that's what I was mainly worried about. So maybe things will be okay after all.
Note to self: buy more peppermints!
