Nick winced as they continued to latch and converse. It felt somewhat like communicating with the Jury, only there was no sharp sting. They were soothing the dormant black fog, changing it perhaps? They kept murmuring something about the black fog in any case. Only they called it something else. Nick knew what they were referring to only by a strong feeling.

After a moment they finally begun to retreat back to the pools around the pathway. Nick remained on the ground contemplating the information they had just given to her. Her hands and knees rest on the ground as her head lowered.

She glanced up to Moe who was barking. "I-its alright..." She whispered. For once since her first imprisonment by the Judge she was able to think with crystal clear clarity. No nightmares, no constant anger, no blood lust in the back of her mind, nothing nipping at the edge of her mind... clear... They had told her it would happen, but it would not last very long.

Though it was a relief to not be wearing the cloak or bandaid strips, Nick had failed to realize that the large imperial emblem tat on her was now partially visible on her scarred back. Shoulder blade to shoulder blade and midway down her back. Talon would be able to see a small fraction of the dragon's wing around the sword from behind one of the weapon belts.

The silver Cuddler had noticed its brothers having a latching party with the other new comer. This was a proper greeting? With what could be determined as a robotic smile the MRZ lept at Talon's leg with a "spleeee!" in hopes to latch.

Moe crouched down and tried to peer up at the hunched over Nick, making noises that were and could be considered of a concerned nature. It tilted its head to the side to get a better look at the face of this woman when it miscalculated on the wet ground and slipped onto its back with a metallic squeak of surprise and a thud. This not being a terribly normal position for the little tyke, it flailed its stubby legs and tail wildly trying to right itself.

Though it did stop and squeak a happy chirp when the woman said she was okay. Yaay! It scared the scary squid things off! The little stump of a tail wagged wildly.

Now Talon, on the other hand, suddenly was distracted from the silver Curious Cuttlefish by the retreating school of other cuttlefish. More notably by the easily recognizable tattoo of the Imperial Seal. No woman he knew had that on her back. He'd have to go and look it up. Wait... Wasn't there that one chick who was supposedly the most dangerous enemy of the empire? Oh yeah...She was supposed to be dead.

He was about to say something to Nick when he realized that the silver Cuttlefish was smiling. He wearily smiled back and took a step away. Smiling MRZs, Zoids, and other mechanical things were never good. In fact, it probably meant doom.

Then, the mechanical creature of the deep leaped at Talon. Talon gave a very typical flinching reaction complete with, "Dear gods! NOOOOOOO!" He was protecting his face with the torch and a standard issue knife that he pulled from one of his many pockets... and there was a squid 'latched' to his leg. He wasn't sure how to react to that. So thinking that it would be similar to Moe, he re-sheathed the knife slowly and patted the cephalopod on the head. "Good, uh, Cuttlefish... thing..."

Nick watched Moe for a moment before she reached out to correct his awkward position.

"Take it easy-"

She winced as her hands moved to her head. After that slight moment of clarity, the muck her mind was in was more noticeable. The cuddlers were right, it didn't last long at all... Unfortunately. The strange MRZs stirred in the back as their affects on her wore off. They begun to chirp and squeak.

She pushed herself from the ground and worked to come to a stand again. So much for the cloak and cover up... Nick sighed in thought as she looked at the medical strips and cloak shreds on the ground. Her right eye brightened in the moment of aggravation. Hopefully this one was not as observant as the other. And hopefully her white crimson tipped hair would do good to hide her Zi mark this time as well.

"Splurgle!" It liked the tone it got from this human. And when Talon reached down to pet it one of its tentacles moved to wrap around Talon's pinky finger. Opinion of all the Cuddlers in the room, fingers-are-amazing.

Moe, righted, nuzzled into Nick's hand in happiness, then made a small squeak of concern at her sudden facial expression. Poor human. He wandered around her feet for a moment, sniffing at the cloth remains and tried to be helpful by picking some of it up in his beak and offering it to Nick.

Pft... Moe may be Talon's but Moe liked keeping folks calm and happy and right now, Nick looked to be more upset than Talon was.

...Who was currently finger tied with a mechanical fish.

Talon did put two and two together rather quickly. This time, instead of vocalizing it, he was choosing to keep silent. 'Leyenda' seemed a little upset at the moment...and she was heavily armed, no pun intended. Wait...well might as well get the notice out of the way. "You fooled an entire nation into thinking your dead. Huh... Might want to cover up some. Getting taken out by a cold after that would be ironic and depressing. " And that was that. Talon decided that letting Nick know he was very much on to her and that he didn't care at all. It just proved his theory right.

And it gave him an excuse to talk to this 'Shun' person and hear the real story without sounding like a crazy. Speaking of crazy:

He was trying to figure out what to do with his new 'friend' . "Nice to meet you too...I can have my finger back, right? Sometime soon? Kay thanks? "

Nick was about to pick Moe up when Talon spoke. Slowly she turned toward him. Figured as much. She would have LOVED to cover up more, but the fact was, it was very painful. What she had on was painful... always. She had gotten used to it over time. That still didn't make it any more comfortable. Might also explain the mood...

"Ever have a burn so bad the softest fabric feels like the deadliest acid?" She growled. Her right hand balled into a fist than released with a sharp metallic click. The right eye also brightened as it glared coldly at Talon.

Talon would now be able to see the metallic plates that lined her right side down to her hip. The skin immediately in contact with the plates were blackened like a nightmarish bruise. More scars stretched across her stomach, the closer to the metal plate the more severe the scar.

The thought of offing him crossed her mind, this soldier might cause grief for Shun if he talked. Than again, the imperials were so happy about her death they might take him for crazy and deny that he ever saw her.

Before they escaped, if they did, she would have to make sure Shun would be alight if this soldier was allowed to walk.

One of the golden Cuddlers broke from the school and made its way toward Nick with a quiet squeak.

The cudler looked from Talon, to his fingers, back to Talon and decided that he was right. But mind as well take itself back too! With another "splee" it wrapped itself around Talons fingers and detached itself from his leg completely.

Moe was devastated that he wasn't being picked up. So he started sitting on his hind legs and begging. Probably was't the best thing to do right now but he wanted to be held and hugged and luffed on cause that's what made folks feel better, right? Right!

Talon, giving the woman a once over in a strictly engineering mind set, was frowning deeply at the scars and the metal plates. She had a reason to be upset. He nodded and muttered, "A welding burn seven years back. " That had hurt like no other for several months while it healed. Looked like the woman didn't get that type of relief.

He also understood her weariness and the potential thought of just killing him and calling done. Well, that's what he would have done anyways. "Don't worry. I have no intentions of talking or telling of this meeting. It make more sense if I stumbled here by accident on my own. " He grinned, though was slightly distracted by the cuttlefish clinging to his hand now. "I know better than to question the authority above me without proof. Honestly, it's better that the Empire thinks your dead. The cities are happier and the mood is high. Politically and militarily, its wonderful. "

Talon was again distracted by the cuttlefish on his hand, bouncing it around absolutely fascinated by the dexterity of the creature. He didn't bother to tell Nick that there was another slowly creeping towards her. "Though, as peaceful as this place is, we should probably get moving before the natives get restless. . . or get too curious. "

Welding burn? So he had a little bit of an understanding there.

"That was the idea..." She frowned.
In a strange way, his words were a relief. The citizens were happy at the knowledge of her supposed death, though at the same time it was infuriating. As their former Captain she had dedicated much of her time to the military, only to have nothing recognized in the end. What made it so bad was she really did nothing but stop a real traitor. He got his reward in the end, death by mauling by his 'prize'.

It was a smart choice for Talon to make. The ranking officers could be a bit pig headed when it came to these kind of situations. They never wanted to be proven wrong.

With a squeak the golden cuddler was airborne and latched on Nick's right arm in to time. It was trying to perform the same task they had just performed not even two minutes ago. It worked to calm her mind even if just a little.

Her posture relaxed and the glow in her right eye dimmed. It was nothing like ten or twenty of these things at once, but it helped. And was still quite weird...

"Thank you." She finally added to her previous comment before she turned and started toward the menacing hallway. If he was sincere about keeping this quiet he deserved a thanks at very least.

Moe was not forgotten. Nick was sure to give him a pat on the head as she passed by. She would have picked him up if she had not been so distracted by what had just happened.

The hall was as nasty as this room was soothing. Dark and lined with more of the symbols of those birds in flocks and the serpent like creatures attacking. There were decorated arches along the hall as well. All of which bore the sharp face of the nasty looking bird statues they saw in the first room.

Talon smiled softly, watching her reaction with measured calm. Truly once she had been a great hero, still was from the way she held herself. Oh well... Her plan worked, that's all that mattered.

He shrugged his shoulders at her thanks, though Talon thought he didn't need it. Folks were strange in their thanks. This one would hunt him down if he spoke of his finding to anyone that didn't already know. Which, was a good and reasonable thing. He could totally understand if he ended up dead in the middle of the night.

Though, now that he had a cuddler on his hand, he was down to ...No free hands! Awesome. Wait. He could put this little guy to use. So he brought the silver cuttlefish to face level, "Mind being a shoulder parrot for a bit? Maybe hold this torch here for light too? " The cuttlefish gave a 'Squeeble-garrble' and slowly latched and moved from the fun fingers to the even more curious shoulder where there was this thing called an 'ear'. Curiously it poked at the dangly bit, bringing its eye close to get a good study. Nmm... Curious. Talon handing of the torch did little to sway the curiousity of the ear. But the Cuttlefish did know that dry burned so no getting fire by the dry hair of Talon.

Moe chirped at the patting and ran over to Talon, climbing back up and perching itself on the opposite shoulder, waving to the new friend. Yaay! Adventure time!

Talon nodded and followed after Nick, only to want to run around and stay in the cuttlefish tranquil land. Perhaps another test, but surely there was a reason for this. Gah...He just wanted out of here as soon as possible now.

Tyrant was probably getting really worried.

As custom Nick looked over the hallway before entering completely. Aside the obvious door trap after the room entrance there was nothing that stood out. The arches were suspicious as was the change in stone used. It was no longer a natural cave. The rocks were placed there neatly layer by layer. Ancient construction, more room for traps.

Nick signaled for Talon to follow as she deemed the passage safe as it was going to get. When she glanced back she caught sight of the Cuddlers diving into the deep pools. Perhaps they had some escape route?

"Door trap..." She sighed and pat the golden cuddler on the head. For some reason it had wished to stay attached to her arm. All the better, it eased the stress and pain.
PostPosted: Tue Apr 27, 2010 10:01 pm

The splashes only confirmed that there was danger ahead. He sighed heavily and nodded. "Huzzah. " Talon said in dry amusement. These places were becoming slightly predictable.

Predictable as in there was going to be a trap around every corner.

The silver Cuttlefish gripped the torch and squelched menacingly as if ready for anything. Moe gave a similar chirp. Talon looked between the two and sighed heavily. Great! He had supporters of doom. What next?

Well, they could always fight their way out... yeah right. But what was the danger this time? The door obvious... but what else? had to be a reason for the door. Talon looked around, taking note of the number of statues in case any were to suddenly come alive. The odds of that happening were suddenly higher then normal, at least it was in his own mind.

And like any good solider, he stuck with the person that looked like they knew what they were doing... even if she looked ridiculous with that cuttlefish hugging their arm.

Ridiculous, very much so, but fashion was on the low end of her priorities. That was even obvious with her strange get up. Nick allowed the thing to remain attached to her arm as it seemed to be blocking the black fog. Or a good portion of it.

Nick had a feeling it could even keep the Iron Judge from making an appearance. All the better for both of them. Any more resistance and the Judge would no doubt get slightly upset again.

Not only that, but it was also conversing secrets to this temple. Most importantly, take a right at the next "y" pathway. And to do it very quickly.

Nick glanced back to Talon to convey this message, and was amused by the sight of his MRZs. It seemed as though Talon was his own transport as well with the strange Cuddler and the even stranger Moe on his shoulders.

"Next 'y' split we will make a quick right." She tried to hide the amusement in her tone. "...."

As the path went on light could be seen coming from the walls up head. Dim but noticeable in the dark. More blue orbs? More Cuddlers? Not to mention the sound of a water fall. Or wind.

Nick's eyes widened as she looked through a 2' by 2' 'window' into a large room lined with thousands of pods. She placed a hand on the iron bars that covered the window.
"Lovely..." Nick grumbled to herself.

Oh God. Just on the other side of this path way. Water poured into the room through pipes set in the four walls of the room. The room wasn't filling, so there was most likely a drain under all the pods at the bottom of the room.

These must be the seekers...

There was one tunnel leading out of that room on the other side of the window they were looking through. Hopefully goldy wasn't leading them into that death trap. And luckily their went path further down and lead them away from that room.

Well, Talon wasn't really one to judge since he knew for a fact he looked like a pirate gone rogue what with the cuttlefish and the little dino. The fact that the cuttlefish was holding the torch probably added to the weirdness. At least his hands and arms were free for the most part.

When he was told that next turn make a bolt to the right, he held up two thumbs, "Oak-doke, boss. " He contemplated showing off some teeth too, but a grin would probably make the woman laugh and right now they were trying to be sneaky-sneaky.

... Well, at least Talon wasn't humming theme music in his head. Yet.

He noted she paused by a large window, and found himself peering carefully inside. The pods made his throat dry, thus he swallowed hard. Ominous and foreboding pods looked dangerous and not happy. Moe flattened itself as much as possible on to Talon's shoulder, stub of a tail curling under as he recognized the danger.

With water potentially diverted randomly to flood the room, Talon decided to gently tap Nick on the fleshy shoulder and silently signal that they needed to move. Noise probably didn't trigger the pods' resuscitation, maybe heat did and they were kinda giving off a lot of heat. Though, hopefully more than half would be empty. That would be a wonderful, happy thought for an optimist.

Nick pried her gaze from the pod filled room at Talon's sudden tap on the shoulder.

"Right."

It also brought to her attention that the last thing a soldier needed was to be scared, especially in hard situations. She looked back down the path they had been heading on than looked back to Talon. "Don't worry.." She grinned flashing her sharp fangs.

"Whatever the are, I bet their skulls crush very easily." She flexed her right hand before continuing down the pathway.

Okay, so hopefully he would not be even more frightened by the display. At least knowing that she was on his side. If anything she hoped for a slight moral boost. Hope in a situation like this could be key to survival.

He returned a grin, though ran his tongue over his teeth just to check his own canines. Nope, still the same. Eeeesh...Vote of confidence or something... He'd go for or something, but right now, that option was not available.

"Fantastic mental image. " he said dryly, and commented to the cuttlefish on his shoulder that chittered something in Talon's ear, "No. Not you. Angry metal cans with sharp pointy teeth of doom. You're a good torch holder, nothing crushworthy... Yes. She'd be depressed if you were compressed. Shall we? " He tried to give the cuttlefish a pat on the..er body, but was instead met with a high five of tentacles. Moe chirped in soft laughter and quickly silenced himself. No time to be laughing!

Talon really had no hope. Hope meant you had expectations of glory. He just wanted to make it out in possibly one piece.... Oh, and Moe too. Moe had to live. Yep. Moe first then one piece...wait... Tyrant would go on a rampage if something happened to him. Umm... Talon spaced out for a moment then realized spacing out now was BAAAAAAD!

Also on that train of thought, he was quite prepared to make a bolt for it, taking the right fork in the road like Goldy said to...Which in itself made no sense at all to the solider why they were following the orders of a ancient technological marvel.

Nick had gotten used to them, had to, lest her tongue be like Swiss cheese. Or her lip for that matter. Damn Judge... Once someone had thrown a cross at her and seemed disappointed when she didn't vaporize. Kid went back to his mother needing a change of pants after that.

"Yeah..." Nick sighed. Mental image. Heaven forbid he find out she had crushed many human skulls before. Not very fun at all. Even crushing the skulls of the mechanical creatures were not as entertaining as one might think. In the back of her mind, however, it was most pleasing. The thrill of the kill. Nick was already aware that was not her thought pattern, but rather the Iron Judge persona taking a sick pleasure in its job.

The golden cuddler shivered as it sensed that dormant presence inside its host. Nick gave it a pat on the head. Hopefully it would keep that from surfacing...

Up ahead there was the dreaded fork in the road. Left actually seemed to be the more pleasant rout with the smooth ceiling and no spikes threatening to fall, like the right side had. That must be why they needed to make a quick right...

"Ready?" Nick glanced back to Talon. She would give him a moment before darting in the right direction. Normally the spikes would be a deterrent, but one would think the ancient would know this temple by now.
