The demon snorted lightly in response, thinking that Dark was in a slightly bad mood-which was acceptable considering he was just frozen- or he didn't think much of Inukai's abilities yet because of his attitude toward that one Imp and now the snake getting away. ---- He looked back at Dark when he said he didn't have much of an appetite because of things on his mind, which was believable..still the demon was glad that he was going to eat too. Inukai knew that everything had to eat and if Dark didn't soon he was going to either trick or drag Dark to that tavern place, he sounded like he knew the the worker so the guy there might help the demon. ----Inukai's thoughts were disrupted both by Dark's words as well as the sound of many creatures approaching, he backed up a little. Though within seconds his silver mane shifted into a shimmering red-orange and flames formed around him and grew in intensity. He carefully opened wings slightly as he growled at the approaching hoard, even his eyes had shifted like his mane to appear more as some fire demon. Inukai's illusionairy flames grew till he barked a short roar and sent the fake/real mass of flames at the snakes, if these little ones were like the big one then his attack would burn a portion of them. ----As Inukai had prepared that and attacked it seemed that he didn't move in the slightest and the ice shots didn't bother him, but that too was illusion...the real one was dodging like Dark was, though not as quickly as he focused on the illusion and got hit a few times, but it was nothing he couldn't handle. ---- '..Dark...what do snakes fear most..what preys on them..?' he asked as he only knew that these fear fire, but he figured that because of their element.. The key to attacking with illusions was finding a target's fear, fear took over most creatures rational thoughts and usually paralyzed them.

If I can't find a decent way out I'll burn through these with one attack, but I don't want to resort to using it in a creature like this.. Dark thought as he finally took a stand still and hoisted his hands up in front of him. His body veiled itself within a dim blue light, the beams of ice slowly pushing him back while breaking away in jolts of ice. The cave began to lit up, the warmth of light slightly obscuring his cerulean vision as it seemed to reflect off the bodies of the snakes. From the way his shadow seemed to dance on the walls he assumed to be fire, but from where? Behind him. "Inukai?" Dark called again, glancing towards a nearly lit form of Inukai now that he was standing still. The barrage of ice depleted, and when he turned to look at the snakes he witnessed them pulling back or staying where they were, even more as Inukai roared at them. Witih an explosion of flames the snakes were cleared, and hesitantly replaced. "Though its a demon fear is fear, and everything has it.." Dark muttered, straightening his body and letting his aura crumble like glass. "What they fear most..there's many things but I guess the thing would be a mongoose. In the human realm that's what eats snakes the most so I doubt it'll be different from demons." Dark implied, watching the wave of snakes move within each other. He turned towards Inukai, gazing at what it formed. He squinted his eyes, a flail of his aura cycling through his eyes. Inukai's illusion flames became transparent to him. An illusion.. "....." The might screech of the snakes turned his head away, and like slaves opening a path for their leader they split, and from the farthest reaches of the cave the demon snake lashed out from a corner and ziplined itself towards Inukai's burning form, mouth open wide and fangs ready to bite on the demon as they would crash.

Inukai ignored Dark's mumbling till he said mongoose, the demon had seen some attack snakes before, but he hadn't been sure that was what they feared. Now that the smaller snakes were hesitant he could focus solely on maintaining his illusion of being a fiery beast, he even upped it a bit more by emitting a faint glow from his mouth as he hissed. ---- The demon glared ahead, his eyes burning, as he locked his gaze with the snake leader. He made no move to dodge, instead he stepped forward and lowered his head a little, tilting his head slightly as he growled. There was no time to shift his illusion and he planned on making the mongoose once the leader was down or if it tried to escape again. ----Once the snake was in striking range Inukai made his move and quickly lunged forward, aiming to catch the snake's throat with his own fangs, not caring if the snake could also attack still. Inukai's fiery mane seemed to lash out at the snake too, trying to wrap around the snake and burn it. ----Meanwhile behind the mass of small snakes the shadowy form of a giant mongoose began to form, but for now it stayed invisible to the snakes. He prepared that just in case they tried to flee, knowing that it would be near impossible to go after all of them.

The demon turned slightly, the scales of its icy body chipped just a little when Inukai's fangs pierced into it. It's tail lashed widly behind it, throwing its kin everywhere and shattering them like meaningless puppets. Due to the narrownes of the cave it couldn't use its tail to retaliate, only reach down to try to bite at Inukai in return. It never did. Dark suddenly appeared beside Inukai and grabbed the nose of the snake while keeping the lower jaw down to keep from closing, his arms straining at the snake's strength while it continued to thrash about, the flames that were coiling around it seeming to melt at its body. "If you're going to finish it..then kill it..now.." Dark struggled, keeping the jaws of the snake from clamping down on inukai. If only he could snap it, but would be impossible because of the snake's anatomy. The snake continued to push down on Dark's body, breathing out a gust of chilly ice to slowly frost him. In retaliation Dark lifted his flames again fighting the cold. "Inukai.." Dark growled. The snakes that watched their leader fight now began to move, slowly crawling towards the three, unaware of the mongoose behind them.

'..Dark..!' The demon was slightly surprised that Dark protected him from the snake's bite. His jaw was slightly sore because he underestimated the snakes natural armor so trying use fangs or claws would take too long, instead Inukai shifted his fiery mane illusion to twist into a spiral that shot into the snakes opened mouth. ----Just to be safe and make sure it died Inukai also created more flames that wrapped around the snake, then the demon lowered himself tipped his head up, shooting a concentrated burst of flame through the snakes mouth to hit it's brain. ----Inukai's ears twitched and he became aware of the slowly approaching mass of snakes, he make the mongoose come alive, adding burning claws and random patches of fiery fur as it started toward the snakes.

The more the snake moved the harder it was for him to completely keep it from snapping its mouth closed. But it wasn't an impossible feat. With the flames burning at its body it thrashed and swerved, Dark having to move the opposite way it turned to Inukai safeguarded. It's body structure was beginning to crack, and many of the snakes that had moved towards them shattered for no reason at all. Others, having spotted the flaming mongoose, either retreated to fuse into the snake's body (which was deteoriating) or make a frightening stand against their enemy. Petty little beams of ice blasting away at the Inukai's illusion. Dark had to shift one more time, but that was a final. Like a zipline of fire a beam of red struck through the demon snake's mouth and forced its way out through the top. It released a final hiss. In a splendid fracture its body was burst in billions of icicles that showered rushed hurriedly through cave. The snakes that had been fighting the moongoose had undergone the same effect but in a lighter spray. Coats of snow decorated the walls and floor with inch deep burrows, and a thin sheet of ice had filmed on the rocky walls. The snow hissed at the far end, and melted as Dark stayed staring at where the snake had been. "..C-cold.." Was all that he brought out to say. His flames were keeping him warm from the instant chill, and leaving his feet snowless in a 3 foot radius.

Inukai watched as the snake struggled yet, though was obviously dying, and also kept an eye on the smaller ones as they too began breaking apart. He was slightly amused as some tried attacking the mongoose, though none of them lasted much longer and soon broke apart and burst into snow. The demon snorted and shook his mane, dismissing his own fiery illusion as well as the mongoose, also getting off whatever snow had stuck on him. He looked at Dark as he stuttered one word and started to worry about him a little. They now had nothing around to eat plus the cave was lightly frozen over, it was definitely not a suitable place for something without fir, feathers or scales. '..Dark...are you alright..?' he asked as he spread a gentle flame through the area they were in, snow wasn't something one could trick, but Inukai's illusions were 'real' enough to thaw the rocky walls melt the snow a good few years in either direction. Inukai's ears twitched as he listened to the faint echo if the pouring rain, flying through that would be hard and painful and traveling by foot wouldn't be much better.. The demon huffed lightly as he thought about their situation, then looked back to Dark.

"I'm fine.." Dark replied as Inukai attempted to warm him up. With his flames and the demon's flames warmth came quickly and with gratitude. One tremble of his body kept the chill away. "Thanks though, but..now we have to find something else to eat. Sadly, I'm sure all the animals have burrowed in their grounds and demons that may be about are probably finding places to do the same.." Dark sat down, and leaned back on the wall. Heading back to the village was now out of the question since nightfall had passed, so they could either remain here and keep themselves warm or go back to Sanctum. They could eat there. "Are you still hungry?" Dark asked, turning to look at the demon. "If you are we could get some food back at the city. If you're afraid to fly I could take us. My board isn't exactly affected by the rain and we could get there within fifteen minutes. He was pretty hungry and now that he was thinking about it his stomach was yearning for it. It was true, for the past three days Dark hasn't eaten. Actually this is his fifth. He hadn't even had water, and though he was hungry he still wasn't near to dying. If anything he could probably go living for a couple of weeks without eating or drinking but he would get hungry. Overdue on food would eventually kill him, though.

Inukai was quite disappointed that the snake had burst into ice and snow, it had been large enough that it would have fed both he and Dark easily and still have more left for later. That and their efforts went unrewarded...sure it was one less demon for people to come across, but there were always plenty others around. So in the demon's eyes it was mostly a waste of effort to defeat, if he'd been alone he would have used an illusion to get away. Dark was right about the animals taking cover from the storm, Inukai could hear little else aside from the rain's pounding rhythm. As for the question of his hunger, a growl rumbled in the demon's stomach and he lowered his head slightly in embarrassment. '..this one..is hungry..' he replied quietly as he glanced toward Dark, grateful for the offer to ride with his the board. Inukai's wings were quite vulnerable to the rain after all, especially when it was coming down hard like now, it hurt and quickly soaked the feathers. Both his normal form and his human form had large soakable wings, plus they'd take up more room..so to make things less awkward the demon shifted into his puppy form. He figured it'd be better to be in either this form or his human form once they were around other people anyway and trotted a bit closer to Dark, looking up at him, '..this one thinks we should go and eat.. it wouldn't be wise to stay here without food..'The demon wasn't exactly sure about eating human-made food, but he had to eat something and so did Dark. Wandering, flying and fighting for the last few days without food was going to make the demon physically weak. Dark's nightmare had been enough to keep his demonic abilities going for around two weeks or more if used sparingly, though he wasn't too sure about constantly using Dark as a dream source if everything he dreamed was that dark..for the safety of others as well as himself.

Dark's lips spread in a light smile once the demon admitted his hunger. If there was one thing he was liking about Inukai it was that he wasn't the tough kind of demon that would put pride first. In his eyes Inukai was a unique type of demon. He belonged in Sanctum. Once the puppy form of Inukai came to form and move towards him Dark stood and suffocated his flames. It was still cold but nothing Dark couldn't bear for a while longer. Besides, he would only cause the rain to smoke once they stepped outside. "Alright. Come on." He pet the demon affectionately, mainly because it was in such a form. Or maybe it was because of how the demon was. almost like a child. "You had said that you would eat fruit, right?" He asked as he lead the way outside. "Heyen doesn't have too much of that but I'm sure he could find something nutritional for you to eat.." He paused, tapping his chin in thought. "You know, I don't remember ever asking you. Back in the tennis courts I had thought you were a homunculus, but you aren't. So..what kind of demon are you? Just a dream eater/illusionist kind?" Once they reached outside of the cave Dark paused and stared at the distant city of Sanctum. With all the gloom in the sky and the pour of the rain it was so depressing. But he liked it. The feeling that hung in the air. It even give him a little energy and made him happier, though he was trying not to show it too much. His aura flared slowly around his entire body and spread, absorbing both Dark and Inukai within its veil, shielding them from the rain. If he was alone he wouldn't care about getting wet, but he had company; that was a different matter. His board tore from the rocky earth of the mountains and slowly glided over the air the moment Dark stood on it, and waited for Inukai.

KuroSeiryu The demon didn't mind as Dark pet him a bit and followed him toward the mouth of the cave, '..this one prefers fruits..but anything that is eatable in human standards is fine..' he said, not wanting be troublesome and also he probably did need a bit more then some fruit to actually get full. His tail lowered slightly at Dark's second question, Inukai knew that his bloodline wouldn't bother Dark much, but there was a reason why Inukai was like the average demon a person came across. '..this one is a mixed demon, wolf and dragon..' this answer was a bit quieter then the first. There was no argument that an average demon was vicious, the more sentient ones more so, but less among themselves. Mixed breeds weren't common for two reasons, few mated outside their own species, the few that were born were despised by it's parents species...not many survived long. When Dark summoned the board and waited for him, Inukai looked at the board and shuttered slightly..then jumped/flew up onto Dark's shoulder, the demon didn't really like Dark's dragonboard so it didn't want to actually touch it.

"A wolf and dragon.." Dark repeated as he watched Inukai hesitantly approach him. His eyes fell down to the demon and gazed at what it was looking at. "..What? It's not going to eat you." Dark assured, but as if the dragon-board wanted it's own opinion to be known the hollow eyes burned a faint red before fading to black. It wasn't by Dark's choice it did that. Dark did have another entity within himself which never manifested. But for some reason the Chaos Dragon inside of him favored the board as the best way to make itself heard. Dark turned to look at the city once the demon pup was on his shoulder, and even if he was hungry he moved without hurry. "You said a wolf and dragon. I don't think I've ever met a breed of your kind." He thought for a moment, and gazed at the clouds in distant thought. "Nuh-uh." he added. He took them higher into the sky, even to the clouds just so they could enjoy the view. The city of Sanctum was isolated from the outside world. In distant paths was only barren wasteland for miles, but if one looked closely and carefully they could see greenery scenes far ahead to the west; east of Sanctum revealed a far away ocean. "You didn't sound too happy, though." Dark spoke again. "When I asked you of your lineage. You mumbled your blood. Why's that, Pup?"

The demon's tail fur bristled a bit when the board's eyes glowed for a moment, but otherwise didn't seem too bothered. He wasn't surprised that dark hadn't met one like him before..personally he only know one other, but that was long ago.. Inukai looked around, making a light wind shield around the two, not enough to block the weather completely, but at least make it more tolerable until they reached the city. It wouldn't be too much longer, but still..the demon didn't like being in the rain for more then necessary. As Dark asked why the demon was unhappy about his bloodline his head went down a bit again. '...demons..don't like mixed breeds.. the two species that make the mixed breed usually ignore or kill it..other see them as weak prey since few if any help them..' the little demon paused, one ear folded back as he thought about it.. '...both parents were killed by their own kind for protecting this one.. after that..this one lived alone..' he finished, both ears folded back halfway as his head hung a bit lower. Those times were something he really didn't want to think about and often tried his best to forget..or at least buried in some dark corner in his mind.

"What? Have you no faith in my shielding us, Pup?" Dark asked, still having the barrier of his aura around them. Using his aura did cut his life in the long run but that didn't mean he couldn't use it. There were times he's used up so much that it left him bed ridden but not dead...yet. Dark descended back down and dipped towards Northwest Sanctum as the puppy demon spoke. The barrier that surrounded them rippled as if it was disturbed, and Dark released a gentle sigh. "..I should have known that.." Dark whispered. He's seen similar things during his travels before, and he never truly understood. People who killed others for such things were hard for him to understand. Did it really matter? Sometimes demons were no different from humans.. He moved and turned a hand, once again affectionately scratching between the wolf/dragon hybrid as they soared towards the Dragon's Nest. Hmm..who was that? Dark thought as he passed some girl standing in the rain.

Inukai didn't really respond much this time as Dark pet him, though he did appreciate it, no matter how he willed it it would take a little while to suppress those memories again. Even the rain took second place in his mind..or rather third since being accepted by Dark was one of few good things that helped right now. The demon looked around slightly, but without much interest. He noticed that they were nearing their choice of place to eat and slid out from Dark's hand and sort of glided/dropped and shifted into his human form. "This one does have faith in you Dark.. You are one of few that still accept this one after learning everything." he said as he flew beside Dark, protecting his wings with a wing shield out of habit as they headed to the Dragon't Nest.
