I'm not being a**l about it, I'm just correcting a mistake.
Daito-ryu aiki-jujutsu consisted, indeed, of kenjutsu and jujutsu.
One who trained was naturally taught movement in a way that would support both (therefor stances, for example, are largely the same in both).
To go from there to saying the jujutsu part was "based" on the kenjutsu part, is completely unrealistic.

A minor incorrect explanation, but when it comes to explaining such complex things as martial arts, one should be mindful of every word.
Next time please refrain from publicly discrediting people before getting a proper explanation.

As far as formal sword styles, no, I haven't. But....WARNING this may sound lame, but after almost worshipping Rurouni Kenshin for about 3 years and meditating about it and sword fighting for about 3 hours a day (I was always very lonely aat a younger age) I became pretty good. I then joined a Martial Arts school and take Kung-Fu and Karate and also trying to learn Capoeira. The main type of sword fighting we do, though, is more of a kendo and fencing mix. When I do fight with swords it does look a little Samurai Champlooish though. confused

I have a 3rd degree black belt Dragon Ball Z Karate.
I swear, I can make my hair stand on end.
So I cheat and put my fingers in a socket, big deal. XP
The point is, I'm almost able to throw kamehameha beams at people.
XD

Sorry for the funmaking there. ^^;
I believe the way of the sword can be traveled in many thousands of ways.
The road matters not, it is the environment it goes through that counts.
If you can get a decent feel for your sword and the logic of combat by watching Kenshin, I admire you for that. Well done.

It was less of just watching it. It was mainly that after a big fight scene I would then picture myself in a close situation and do a kinda trial and error to see if I were to use those strikes where I was weak and where he would poteniatlly fight. Like I said I had A LOT of free time a few years ago.

I have studied a little bit of kenjutsu. It used a lot of the same moves that Aikido has. We used shinai for sparring and bokken for katas.
I've had quite a few sparring matches that leave your arms amd legs bruised up.
We were very proud of the bruises that were the size of oranges!

What really annoys me though is when people make a religion (yes they went through legal means!) out of Star Wars and study the crappy-flashy style they use. The Star Wars movies were Ok but they aren't real life.

Well the Star Wars fighting really is practical. It more of a kata style but it's not like it's useless

I take Tae Kwon Do, so basically there isn't really any weapons involved, just learning how to dodge them. However, I am practicing with a dagger I have at the house and my nunchucks, where I get some help from my instructors at the TKD school.

The Star Wars fighting is NOT, I repeat NOT practical fighting.
It's a DANCE performed by ACTORS that's supposed to look FLASHY and is of absolutely no value in a combat where a sword is involved.
Not even if the opponent is unarmed.

...Unless he's a real gutless f**... then you might be able to smash 'im...
But if you want that, take up baseball.

In the Philippines the blades that were used mostly is that what represent the art of Arnis which is the Bolo or Itak. I believe that this can be classified as a sword art even though we only use burned rattan sticks. The techniques included here which are the abaniko, the figure 8 strikes, the rompida all represented the slashes of the itak. THe techniques found in arnis improved my unarmed combat techniques.
