Crescendo slept soundly through the night. Compared to the previous nights sleep out in the open plains, he felt more comfortable here for some reason. Perhaps it was because it was so close to the trees at the base of the mountain. They felt like home to him, so much so that he hardly noticed Rondel get up and begin her morning routines without him.
He woke a short time later to the warmth of the sun on his face and beginning to cover his body. It felt wonderful, but getting back in the shade would be high on his list soon. Glancing around, he began searching out how far Rondel wandered from him. "Rondel...? ...'del~?"

Rondel looked back over her shoulder at him. "I'm right here." she said with a smile. She stepped back over to him and nuzzled him happily. "I have a good feeling about today." she said brightly.
She tossed her head letting her bells chime before looking back towards the mountains. "A really good feeling." she said. She looked back to him smiling again. "We'll go when your ready."

He smiled and nuzzled her back before nodding. "Give me just a few minutes." He said, moving off to munch a bit at the grass and leaves before deciding all was good.
"Alright, I think I'm ready for this..." he turned and looked back at her, ready to follow wherever she led him.

Rondel nodded and went to graze herself while she waited. Once he was ready she turned and began the long trek towards the mountains. Her bells chiming happily. She hoped that with some lucky Melody would hear them from a long way off and stop.
Rondel only worried that Melody wouldn't, thinking it was an illusion...a phantom come to haunt her for the foal she'd lost. Rondel shook her head clearing those thoughts. She had to stay positive. They'd find her mother, they had to.

Melody hadn't been in the greatest of moods after Rondel had disappeared. She had stopped teaching dance lessons, and she had random fits of crying, but until now she thought she'd gotten some hold on herself. She had been grazing peacefully, and trying to distract herself from thought of Rondel, and the rest of her lost family, when she just suddenly stopped. She had to be imagining that sound, or maybe it was just her, despite the fact that the world seemed to be standing still. She glanced around, and seeing nothing she returned to the grass at her feet, but once again stopped.
There it was again, a sound that had haunted her for weeks now, even though it had been so peaceful to her before. She checked one last time to make sure she wasn't the cause of the chiming, and then, thinking she was truly insane now, she called out her daughter's name. "Rondel!" Her voice was eerily calm, she expected that if she ever said her daughter's name again it would be with grief, but now...she was just startlingly calm.

Rondel looked over at Crescendo as they trotted along her eyes catching the movement of a small bird and watching it fly over them. It was then she froze, thinking she heard her name. "Did you hear that?" she asked quietly looking over at at her companion. "I could have sworn I heard someone call my name." she said getting a cold chill.

Crescendo looked around them quietly, taking in the sights of the mountain and noticing quickly that it was much cooler up here than it was down in the forest and plains. He shivered a bit before perking his ears forward, thinking he heard something.
"Heard...a voice? Someone calling your name? I swear I just did..." He muttered, pausing to look around them again.

And suddenly, the noise was gone, Melody flicked her ears around, trying to catch the sound of bells in the air, but it seemed her insanity had gone away. For the moment anyway. She sighed and bent her head down to graze again, but she could help but feel her loss again, so she decided to take a look around, she'd given up on searching for Rondel awhile ago, but maybe it was time to try again. It wasn't nice for her mind to be teasing her this way, but she decided things could be worse.
And so she set out, her own bells jingling to life now.

After the assurances from Crescendo that she had heard her name, Rondel strained her ears trying to pick up the faint voice again. After a few moments she sighed and shook her head unable to pick it up again. "Maybe it wasn't really there after all..." she said quietly.
She started to move off again when the chime of bells reached her. Rondel gasped and bounced setting her own off. "Do you hear that, Cres!? Do you hear that!?" she bounced eagerly from foot to foot before taking off in the direction the sound was coming from at a gallop. "I'm coming!" she called out praying it was a member of her family and not some stranger.

Crescendo frowned and nuzzled her. Just nature playing a cruel joke on them it seemed now. "I'm sorry, Rondel...we'll find them...I know we will." He said, trying to assure her and cheer her up again.
His ears pricked forward again at the sound of bells that didn't belong to his 'Del. The question was where it was coming from now. His pondering left him standing alone when Rondel bolted off up the path to follow the sound of the bells. "Wha--wait! 'Del!" He called, starting up after her.

Melody was startled when she heard the sounds of frantic little bells making their way toward her. She'd had so many nightmares about them running away, that she didn't know exactly what to do now. She trotted in place for a few second, trying to decide whether she should run away, or toward that beautiful, her haunting sound. Just when she thought she'd turn around and flee, she heard Rondel's voice, calling out to her. Was she dreaming? It was quite a possibility, she slept a lot lately.
She gasped at the sight of Rondel dashing toward her, in view now. She was no longer the little filly that had ran away, now she was grown, as tall, if not taller, then herself. "Is...is it really you?" She didn't know what else she could ask, or say, she focused on not letting too many tears escape.

Rondel skidded to a stop leaving skid marks in the grass. "Momma?" she asked her eyes wide. She tossed her head letting her bells chime out. "Momma..." she was only vaguely aware of Crescendo coming up fast behind her, but did realize that if she didn't move her big stallion was going to run headlong into her.
She quickly moved and turned around. "Cres! Cres, stop its okay~ Its my Momma~" she called to him before breaking into tears, and turning to run to Melody. "Oh, Momma! I'm so sorry, Momma! I didn't mean to leave you!" she cried putting her face against Melody's unashamed of the hot tears running down her face.

Crescendo skidded to a stop, digging his hooves hard into the ground to keep from colliding with the smaller mare. As he steadied his breathing again, he looked up toward Melody. This was Rondel's mother? She was gorgeous...Rondel looked so much like her.
He smiled and buzzed his wings, stepping back a bit. He felt just a bit out of place among the family and didn't feel right interfering with them.

It was indeed Melody's lost Little Bell, how they'd ever run into each other again was a mystery, and a beautiful miracle. When she say the tears in Rondel's eyes, her spilled over too, she just couldn't believe this was really happening! How could she have ever abandoned Rondel in the first place? Along with her siblings and father, what had she been thinking. They must have stood like that forever, before Melody noticed they were alone.
She took a step back, and even though she was still hiccuping with her past tears, she smiled at Rondel, and then to the mystery stallion. Who was this? Someone Rondel was traveling with, or could it be more? "S-sorry if...we made you f-feel...awkward..." She took a second to catch her breath, and gave Rondel another soft nuzzle.
"I was just...so worried I'd lost you all over again..." She sniffled a bit, and then returned her red gaze to the bright green stallion. He was certainly lovely, and she had a feeling she knew why Rondel hadn't made it back to her. "So...introductions...anyone?" She asked, staring curiously at the green, buzzing stallion.

"I'm so sorry, Momma. I got lost in the woods, and then I met Cres, and well everything...I just..." she sighed. "I'm sorry..." she said trailing off and sniffing getting herself back under control.
She looked over at Crescendo then moved back over to him and nuzzled him reassuringly. "Momma, this is Crescendo," she smiled up at the stallion. "Cres, this is my momma, Melody." she pranced for a moment embarrassed before looking back at Melody. "I...I love him." she said with a blush.
