my son, your time has come.
Horyoku slipped into a deep dream, as he stood.
My son, come to me. You have been gone from me for so long...
"Mom? Wha- what's happening?"
You are awakening. Your true form is awakening. As should you...
Recovering from the seemingly endless vision, horyoku realized what has happened.
"Yugure! I'll help you!", he yelled, as his newfound comrad did battle with an unknown foe.
He then materialized his blade, and stampeded towards the man weilding the rather overly large revolvers.
"How dare you attack my friends?!?!?", he exclaimed, as his rage- and the flames in his hands and eyes- increased. Suddenly, a red flame burst from his chest, and his blade's heat intensified.
"I WILL KILL YOU!!!!!"
(Sorry I haven't been on- this site's blocked at my school, and my dad has grounded me from the internet for a while. Good thing he had some errands to do...

Horyoku trampled towards the gunner, in the full glory of the phoenix.
"PHOENIX RISING!!!"

Gangu could not predict the flame's strike; it had burned him greatly. He quickly jumped out of the flame. His guns had melted in the fire, and he was unarmed. Gangu quickly retreated.
"Well, that's one gone, but we've still got my brother. Leave now, if you know what's good for you, Kurayami.
"Excuse me? You couldn't do anything to fight." Kurayami turned to the now burning Horyoku. "But that one's a different story. Come Raven, Lucian. We shall talk elsewhere." With that, the great Sabata Kurayami retreated into the woods.
"That was... rather simple. What happened, master? Are you okay?"

Never goes out...
"AUGHHH!!!", yelled an enflamed horyoku, as the flurry of heat danced around him.
"Master, are you alright?"
"Yes. My mother told me that I had potential. I guess this is what she meant..."
He gazed at his hands, which glowed like magma.

"Excuse me, master, but what is your full name? It may help." Yugure looked worried for Horyoku. Was the flame natural? Why did he suddenly turn into the being before her? Whatever was going on, Yugure knew it all led up to something. What that something was, she had no idea.
Meanwhile, Gangu had succeeded in his retreat, but he had not expected what would happen next.
Taiyo heard a sound from behind him. "Who's there? Come out of your hiding." Taiyo said. He couldn't smell the scent of the Light or the Darkness on him, though he had obviously had a close meeting with flames.
"I wasn't trying to hide, sorry. My name is Sabata Gangu. I-"
"You don't have the scent of the being, or rather, beings, known as the Sabata Three. Why do you have the name Sabata?"
"What? You can smell the Sabata Three? Then, you must be..."
"Yes. My name is Sabata Taiyo, the most holy f the Sabata Three. I take it you were looking for me?"
"Actually, no. I had a... close encounter with the other two, as well as a third. I lost my guns in the third's flame."
"Yugure is the third, and I don't think she can utilize the powers of fire. Why do you say the third?"
"I meant to reference the third being taking place in the battle. He's... humanoid, but he's definitely not human. He combusted into flames, and singed me and melted my guns." Gangu looked behind him. "Now I have three enemies." Gangu then turned back to Taiyo. "But, you can help me, right Taiyo?"
"I don't do revenge... but, if one of those enemies is Kurayami, I will be willing to help you out, as long as you join my cause. Kurayami is-"
"He's trying to control the world with an army of undead, right?" Gangu smacked a fist into his palm. "Well, I'll help then, as long as you can provide me with some guns."
"I think we can accommodate that." Taiyo raised his hand and waved it over Gangu's head. "Welcome to the Light, Sabata Gangu."

"Horyoku Katagatana," he replied. "It means blade of the sword. My first name would be more likely to have a meaning intertwined- 'the power of flame.'"
Suddenly, the flames began to reced from his body.
"umm, would it be too much to ask if you could, umm, I don't know, temporarily let me use you as a shirt, Yugure-ol'-buddy?"

"Wow, weird. Is there anything Yugure can't do? A sword, a shirt, and an animal. Strange fellow. He's not from this planet, is he? More likely a gift from the gods." Yugure looked up to the sky. "I only have a curse." The wind blew hard. "I, Sabata Yugure, mistress of minds, am one of the Sabata Three. No doubt you've heard of them?"
"Thank you, Taiyo. Could you explain to me the Sabata Three? Public radio only told of two."
"Right. I guess I'll explain."
"Do you two know the story of how the Sabata Three came to be? It's a complicated story."
"The Sabata Three are three beings created from conflict within Sabata's mind."
"He was facing a tough choice. He had to choose from three paths. One of Light, one of Twilight, and one of Darkness."
"One day, as the decision came closer, he decided to create two other beings to hold the other two paths as he took the true path in his heart."
"They were..."
"Sabata Taiyo..."
"Sabata Yugure..."
"and Sabata Kurayami."
"They were given the name..."
"The Sabata Three!"

"yes, actually. He can't stay the form he is in- outside of kitsune- for too long. Hey, umm, can we find a city, so I can get some clothes?" Horyoku asked.
Hours later, our adventurers came across Durem, and hit up a local business, Durem Depot.
"How's this look?" Horyoku asked, as he stepped out of the changing room, wearing a blue flame shirt and pants, gloves, and goggles.
"I don't know, maybe too much fire..."
"Master, it looks amazing. It suits you perfectly, and the clothes are fire-proof," his faithful kitsune responded. "Let's check out."
"O-kay, so this bill is gonna come to 3450 gold. You got that type of money, kid?" Asked Moira, the owner, cashier, and attendant of the store.
"Yeah, right here." Horyoku placed the money on the counter, and awaited his reciept. "Thank you for helping us out. I needed some new clothing."
"No prob. Any time, for a cutie like you," Moira responded. "If I were you, I'd hit up the store right down the street, 'Ruby's Rack'. I know it sounds perverted, but she runs a clean shop."
"Thanks, Moira."

"Hello, ma'am. Are you Ruby? A girl named Moi-"
"Mooooiiiiraaaa? She sent you heeere? Splendid! What can I do you for?" Horyoku was put off by the strange lady.
"Umm, we are looking for some help, and were told you might be able to help us."
"Of course! I can fix all your needs! What do you need," asked Ruby.
"Oh, umm, just directions to the local Amaterasu shrine, if you know..."
"Of course." Ruby gave our adventurers the directions they needed.
"... and you continue West until you find it. Got it, dear?"
"Yes, ma'am. thank you," Horyoku responded, and bowed in respect.
As the three left, Ruby spoke to herself," That boy doesn't seem to be like the normal youth that wander around her. Hope he knows what he's getting into..."
As they left, our three came past a man, who seemed very intrigued by Yugure.
"Hmmm, that is quite the specime- i mean animal you have there, friend. I've seen these creatures before. Your little furry friend here is a kitsune, idn't he? And by the marks on it's pelt, you two are soulbound. Hmm... Interesting..."
"Wow, you really know your stuff, friend. Do you know where the Sacred Fire Temple housing the Ancient Shard is at?" "Shore do. Allow me to introduce myself. I am the Overseer. I used to actually be a demigod, but now I'm just a human," he said with some sorrow. "My friend, Sen, and I were tricked by a crazy pumpkin ma- wait. I know you. Your name isn't... Horyoku, is it?"

"No way, you're THE Overseer?" Suddenly, she found herself shaking Overseer's hand. "Soo glad to meet you! The name's Sabata Yugure, mistress of minds, sir."
"Sabata, huh? You mean you're one of the Sabata Two?"
"No, sir, Sabata Three. It's the Sabata Three."
"Riight..."
"You see, the Sabata Three are light, darkness, and me, twilight. I'm not going to go into it too much. So, you know master Horyoku, huh?"

"Not exactly," he proceded to say. "In actuality, I knew what he IS. He is the Phoenix. Sortof."
"Wait, is that what my mother meant?!?" Said Horyoku, suddenly quite enthused. "You mean I'm a demigod, like you were?"
"Well, not exactly. You are a sacred beast incarnate. You're more of a demi-demigod. I think." Yugure( the kitsune) was quite confused.
"And I'm not too happy about still being human. I'd prefer to live in a fishtank again, to be honest... And could you stop shaking my hand, ma'am? Please?!? It's kinda sore now..."

"Huh? Oh, sorry!" Yugure went from shaking Overseer's hand to rubbing the back of her head. "I didn't mean to offend."
"No, not at all. It's good to know some people know who I am."
"Well, I've read through every book in the Barton Library, so it's not too surprising. Now, what were you saying about you and Sen? You two finally decide to go out?"
"Well, her and I- Wait, what? No!"
"He's not really my type anyway," could be heard from nearby. From the nearby alleyway came a woman garbed in dark red. "So, Sabata you said your name was, why are you traveling with a phoenix. They're dangerous business, you know."
"I'm traveling with Horyoku because I want to, okay? And, I've seen his power, and I admit it could be deadly, but it's okay. He hasn't hurt me yet."
