I'm thinking specific spells. But it can also be types of magic if it's sort-of lumped into a single type of spell. Fireballs, for example, would work for lighting candles as well as for burning foes. *shrug* Actually I haven't thought much about magic, though I have allowed for anyone to have some sort of spell even if they're not a Mage.
So, if you like, you can suggest a magic system that your character can use and try to cram as much as possible into the four spells. ^^ I'm pretty much fine with anything, as long as it's balanced and as long as it has a viable reason. The basic rule of thumb: if you can explain it, I'll allow it. wink

Oh, and is nobility gender or race biased? Also, is nobility partially based on heredity and is new nobility appointed only when a family line runs out, or do titles not transfer to children? On that same note, does the spouse of nobility also receive a title, if so, does it hold any power, and do they loose it when there spouse dies? If they don't, do they receive there husband titles and/or land and power?

If they don't, do they receive there husband titles and/or land and power? it states pretty clearly that Dukes and Barons are appointed...so that would mean the titles aren't inherited. Not sure bout marriage. Lise: I remember alot of useless crap xD

Once again, a few sentences were adjusted in my new post. And just so you all know, you're going to be hearing that a lot from me until I don't have to copy/paste anymore. xd

And one last question- are children of current nobility given preferential treatment when it comes to appointing new nobility, or are people of high class families the only ones eligible in the first place?

I was going to respond to Mosmoto a lot earlier, but I had computer troubles. Luckily I was able to copy and paste. Hurray for Google docs! xD Here 'tis. ^^ @ Mosmoto Quote: Government Mandor is ruled by the King, and the center of government is the Royal Palace at Mandor Castle. From there, Mandor is divided into duchies, baronies and earldoms, whose masters are managed by overlords residing at the Palace. Messages are sent and received constantly via 'script riders,' light young women on speeding pegasi. Dukes must be selected by the King, and must have studied at the Palace for at least two years. Barons are selected by Dukes from among candidates appointed by the local people. Earls are men of note who are awarded lands and titles by the local Baron. They become spokesmen and benefactors for the farms, villages and homesteads on and around their land. Cities and towns are usually run by a mayor and his sheriffs. Nobility is not hereditary. Spouses get whatever privileges they are ascribed by their noble partner, I guess. Probably not a title, unless it relates to their spouse's title. Yes, they may continue if their spouse dies, and fill the office, but not if they re-marry. Mandor is a human land, so elves are not allowed to hold any position of authority, though they may become Knights of Mandor. Duchy: There are far more Dukes than Duchesses. Earldom: There are about the same amount of Earls as Countesses. Barony: There are more Barons than Baronesses. Town/City: Mayors and Sheriffs are almost always men. Ambassadors, diplomats and messengers are more often women. There are also some Overlords at the Palace who are women--Overseers, they are called. In addition, almost all Pegasus riders are female.

I see.
So a man or woman of power took on an elven spouse (if that would even be possible in the first place), and the man/woman predeceased their spouse.
In such a case, would said elf loose all privileges when their spouse died (in other words, though they would not be able to fill in the office, would they still be treated as though they were nobility), or would they have none to begin with? And just to be sure, the government would only repossess items that come with the position, such as land, and not personal assets, such as their estate, money, servants, ect, correct?
Thank you for being so patient with all my questions, even though some are rather tedious and obvious. And I’m sure that I am coming off as neurotic right now, but I don’t want to assume things, as it always irritates me greatly when other Rpers do so in my RPs.

It'd probably be the otehr way round, that the original halo knew of Cain...because he's afterall a Baron who came to power because the elves put alot of pressure on the local duke.
