He should have tensed, but he did not. The hand on his shoulder was not the same slender, supple frame as before, and the feeling that radiated from it could scarcely be called divine. It could not be described as mortal or human either, but nevertheless he found himself curiously unperturbed by it. Soren merely stopped and turned to face whoever addressed him.

He thought that presence seemed familiar. The face that met his cold, burgundy eyes immediately set off memories he feared he had forgotten, although when they came upon him he did not feel relief or happiness or satisfaction. Soren just assessed the images in mute acknowledgment. The hair, the eyes, the robes, the aura... A darkness surrounded memories that were attributed with the young man who stood before him now, looking mildly inquisitive. It seemed to Soren that he was trying to suppress something.

"What business is it of yours?" were the first words out of his mouth. Quiet surprise stirred inside, since he did not expect anything like that out of himself. At the same time he was not entirely startled. Brashness had not been unlike him back in Tellius, after all. Soren blinked at the young man, then bowed his head in a gesture he understood to be humble. "Excuse me. It's been a while." Rudeness would put him far and away to any advantages regarding people, after all. The sage was scarce to make any enemies if it would gain him nothing.

"I must have been away to undertake strenuous studies by myself. I cannot recall for certain. But I am back to resume my duties, if I will be accepted back among the guild's ranks," Soren continued impassively. His tone was formal, straightforward, and that was normal of him. But he had a feeling this would overlap with even personal or casual situations. This itself stirred a small fragment of wonder. "I understand that a figure similar to myself might have tarnished my image, but nevertheless I would rather fail than take no action at all."

His eyes did not waver on Rei's form. "You ask me this because you wish to clarify something. Have I cleared any doubts, fulfilled any curiosity?"

"Shame. Alcohol's good at any hour of the day," Rain remarked with a laugh. But, if they weren't serving this early, they weren't serving this early. Oh well, wouldn't complain. "Coffee then, black. And... whatever the closest meat you have up there is, ham or bacon or something of the sort. You can take your time though, I'm not in any rush." Right now he was interested in this cat here. He looked just the slightest bit familiar. Perhaps he'd passed him in a city, or something of the sort. He certainly didn't recall talking to him, but he did ring the faintest of little tinkling bells way in the back of his mind. Or maybe that was the guitar over there. The reptilian was pretty good, to be honest. But anyway.

"Desert? Nah, haven't been in the desert for... probably ten years or so," Rain replied, reclining back in the chair, arms stretching out to either side comfortably. "Decided I wanted to go exploring, y'know? Tribe begged me to stay, gave me gifts, all kinds of things. They really didn't want me leaving. I was one of the best warriors. Maybe the best, not to brag or anything. But I said no, couldn't stay. I've got a wandering spirit, I can't stay in one place for too long. I haveta find somewhere new, yah?" He looked around him and grinned. "An' this place looks pretty damn new to me. No idea how I got here, either, but hey, no problem. New places, new faces, it's a new day, see? Fresh start."

Then he sat forward, getting a bit more serious. "But you, you look.... just a little bit familiar. I can't place it, it's probably just that I saw you in my travels, but hey, I'm curious." He paused for a second, trying to think; he still couldn't come up with anything. Probably nothing, but just in case... "So, where are you from? Gallia, I'd imagine, but anywhere in particular? Not a royal or something, are ya?"

User Image"Isn't it?" giggling in the process as she looked at the other brooch. Her eyes peered over a set of other brooch then moved to the stand next to it, taking the bear pin with her as she had plans to purchase the object. There were obviously more of them, but this part included hair clips. She picked up one that was shaped like a butterfly, the shaping the wings were outlined with glass beads and our large glass stones shaped like a tear were marked as their wings. A small, light tassel hanged from the bottom. It was in the color of a dark violet.

Elly picked up the object and walked over to Tristai, raising her hand and holding the object up on the side of her head. She tilted her head, seeing if it suited the girl at all or anything. She smiled, nodding with satisfication and headed toward the clerk. Once everything was done, paid for and wrapped, Elly walked back over to Tristai and handed her the hairpin/hairclip. Course, she didn't have to do such a thing, but she wanted to. Besides, the ranger looked cute with it on. Elly simply smiled and swayed where she stood.

Sunil noticed that there was a Beorc swordsman of sorts also in the Cafe, but took no notice of him, partly because the Wolf was talking to him again.

"Ten years since you last saw your homeland...It's only been seven years for me. Sure, it doesn't look like much time for us Laguz, but it's a long time for the Beorc, nya." he said.

He listened to the wolf brag about his reasons for leaving his country. Though he said it was for exploring, the cat felt like there was another reason behind it, from the boastful aura the wolf was giving off. But it was probably just his imagination.

"Fresh start...yeah, that's a good way to look at things. And since the new year just started, all the better for the new start." the cat chuckled. He would keep this outlook in mind. Who knows, maybe he could get a new start after all.

The wolf then said that the cat looked familiar to him. Sunil racked his feline mind, trying to recall if he had ever seen the wolf before, even if it was only for a moment. He tilted his head slightly to ponder, then shook his head.

"Nope. Not royalty. I did hold a ranking office, but it wasn't that high of a position. Certainly not anywhere near Commander, let alone Captain. I'm from Susa though. Maybe you passed through there at one point or another during your exploring?"

Whoa! Farina thought with a face of shock when Elly suddenly decided to leave. The pink haired woman followed shortly after the shy girl. Did Farina really talk that much? Alone again, heh?

She then heard the cook. "Oh, strawberry's good. Soe sugar for the tea, please. Thanks, mate!" Yes, she was going to get sugar high for the day. It would be most unfortunate if she got a sugar crash.

Blossom nodded to the unfamiliar man and noted away his order. "Black coffee. And we have grilled beef tenderloin on focu..." Blossom paused. "Focci... uh, on pizza." Blossom smiled sheepishly. "I'll whip that up for you now, uh... after I take Ziaram's order, I mean," She added halfway through. She nodded once to Rain, letting him converse with the cat laguz in there, and hurried off to Ziaram with a large smile on her face.

"Sorry for the wait! What would you like?" she asked him, putting the pen tip against her pad. "We've still got some cakes already baked if you'd like some of those, or we can make you something different."

Smiling at Blossom, Ziaram said, "Yeah the cakes are good. All right, one of them will do. Also, if you have some, then a glass of nomadic tea? If not water will do. Thank you." He understood that manners counted in a restaurant...especially right now when the bouncer was someone larger, and stronger, than himself. Yet even though there was that fact, Ziaram did not tend to be rude to people...unless he had a good enough reason to be rude. Blossom had never done anything to make him want to be rude, and also it was not a smart thing to be mean to any female. No matter what, it would always end up worse in the long run.

User ImageWhatever responds Amelia said, Rajin didn't hear. His mind was still occupied of the chore he was in. He hoped that Helen didn't have enough chores for him to do when he got back, especially the jobs from Tibarn. What he wanted to laid back and do nothing right now.

Just as he was walking, he suddenly heard someone calling at him before he felt a hand on his elbow. Turning around curiously, he noticed that it was the same beorc he met earlier. Now what did he do? He had already apologized to the beorc. What else did she want?

Rajin suddenly blinked when he heard the beorc talked. First, she scowled him for hitting her, and now she wanted to help? She's an odd one. The tiger thought confusingly. Maybe that woman was going through a PMS moment or something. But, whatever, the beorc offered him a help. So why not accepted it?

"Whatever floats your boat, Miss." Rajin replied as put down the bags he was carrying and looked carefully. The bags weren't heavy for him to carry, so it wasn't a heavy manual for him. However, he didn't want to beorc to hurt herself if she carried the heavy bags. After searching carefully, he picked up the bag full of herbs and spices.

"Here, this should be enough." Rajin spoke as he handed the beorc the bag of spice. If the beorc looked under his hood, she would see two red stripes on each cheek. After handing the bag to her, the tiger picked up the rest of the bags. He then looked over at the beorc and smiled as he was headed to the Duke's Head.

"I appreciate your help, Miss- Uh.... What is your name?"

Apparently, he had forgotten to introduce himself too.

*facepalms* Nice way of introducing yourself, Rajin...... >.<

Blossom noted this order away, too. "All right. Nomadic tea and a cake. I'll have that out right away!" She tucked the pad away in her pocket, then rushed right to the kitchen, dropping the money from Sunil's order into their cash register.

Blossom cooked as quickly as she could, especially with the fact that, well, the kitchen was empty when she had ran in. She could hear someone bustling about nearby, and she decided to take that as Vika arriving at the bar to take inventory as she set a teapot filled with water on the stove to boil while she busied herself preparing the focaccia bread. While that baked, she sliced the beef, rubbed the right spices on top, and then put it down on the grilltop to sear. The teapot was whistling now, high-pitched and rather annoying, and Blossom moved it off of the heat to finish with the meat. The foccacia bread was finished at that point, thankfully. The meat was cut, herbs sprinkled on top of the meat, now resting atop the foccacia bread, and sat for a moment while Blossom readied Rain's coffee and Ziaram's tea. With both mugs steaming, a cake fetched, and the beef on toast all gathered on a tray, Blossom exited the kitchen again, using her hip to open the door.

"All right! Beef on toast and black coffee for you..." Blossom balanced the tray against her side with one arm while using the other to set Rain's food in front of him, then went to Ziaram. "...and cake and tea for you." Blossom smiled, looking to both of them expectantly.

[[Pretend she told them how much it cost, okay? :P

And now for Amelia in SAME POST]]

Amelia nodded to the man, watching as he studied his bags. Was he looking for something in particular? She simply received the bag he offered to her, not commenting when she realized how lightweight the bag was. "Whatever you're willing to let me carry," Amelia responded. She shifted her grasp on the bag, trying not to crush the delicate things inside by holding the bag too roughly. She smiled back at him, taking note of the stripes. Kind of like Lyre, actually...

"It's Amelia. My name's Amelia. And what's yours?" She resisted the urge to look back and see if she could spy a tail. If he wanted to tell her what he was, he could. He was sort of wearing that hooded cloak for a reason, after all.

"Thank you Blossom, and here is the amount for the food and drink." Handing her enough money for his meal, then started to eat it, glad that he had saved enough since he had arrived. The Hostess Club always served good food, and oh boy was it still good.

User Image"The name's Rajin Cyphers. It's nice to meet you, Amelia." Rajin replied as he let out a smirk. His fang was showing quite noticeable.

"C'mon. I'll show you to the Duke's Head." Rajin called out before turning around and headed down the path. Along the path, they were discussing various topics such as last night party and their business. Sometimes the tiger would complain about the new cook in the Duke's Head, saying something about "Old man needs to lighten up about his privacy." However he did offer the beorc that if she had free time, he could offer her lunch for helping him out, explaining that the new cook brought business to the Duke Head.

"It really changes the pace at the Duke's Head. Not saying that her business goes slum." Rajin said as he went in the back alley around the Duke's Head tavern. Rajin turned around and took the bag from Amelia.

"Thanks for the help. I'll take it from here. If you have free time, I can pay you lunch at the inn. My treat." The tiger smiled back at Amelia and turned around. As he walked, he could hear the footsteps behind him. Whether Amelia followed him or walked away, he didn't care. Right now, he wanted to get this grocery shopping done and be gone with it. When he reached to the door that led to the kitchen, he noticed that his hands were fulled.

Well, that didn't stop me for nothing. Rajin thought as he lifted his leg and gave a door a kick. The door lock was broken and made a slam noise when it hit the wall. The tiger then entered the room, not caring if he gave some of the cooks a scare.

"Hey old man, I brought the stuff you want!" Rajin yelled at Tibarn as he heaved the stuff onto the kitchen floor.

"Mmhm," Tristai nodded in agreement. Teddy bears might not have been her thing, but... well, she hadn't really had any when she was a kid or otherwise... Again, there was something really fuzzy about her very early childhood, but no one REALLY remembers the earliest years anyway, right?

She blinked, a bit confused, as Elly shuffled about and held something up next to her own pink hair. Whatever it was, it seemed to satisfy her, and before the ranger could say anything she had rushed off to the counter!

"Hey, wait-" she stopped abruptly as Elly dropped an amethyst colored butterfly hairpin into her hand. It took a minute for her to register the gift, while Elly swayed back and forth. A light blush flushed her cheeks, and she stammered out,

"Th-thank you, Elly... I'll... treasure it..."

Tristai was a bit shocked. Gifts certainly weren't something she was used to, but that didn't mean she didn't enjoy this one. She smiled, suddenly, and grabbed Elly's hand, leading her towards the door.

"Come on then, I'm sure there are a lot of other places you can think up to drag me to, right?" She laughed, "Unless you're done here and you want to go back and clean the apartment some more, I left a spoon in the sink you know..."

For about the fourth time, Ghis idly poked the slice of ham, wondering how the heck he'd wound up in the new Boar's Head.

Not that the food was bad or anything--on the contrary, he'd actually become such a gourmet that he always wound up coming here for breakfast (in this case, ham and eggs). But he couldn't for the life of him remember actually COMING here. He vaguely remembered finding the bar at the castle, and singing "Auld Sang Lane" or whatever it was with some other guys, and before he knew it he was here. Might be one o' those sleepwalkin' deals, he thought blearily as he finally brought knife to ham, THEN fork to ham PIECE, and at last ham to mouth.

"You can't blame yourself. Blaming yourself and falling into depression, it won't change anything.
You have to look forward. Remember what you have here now.
Just think; if you hadn't come here, you wouldn't have met anyone here from
Elibe or anywhere else!"

{Amelia}
Amelia offered back a smile, noting the tooth as well. Definitely a laguz. A cat, but what kind of cat? She nodded at his mention of the Duke's Head, deciding he wasn't that bad a guy. Their discussion came rather easy; conversation didn't seem forced between the two, more natural and organic. They didn't really have to strive for topics to keep from walking through dead space every few minutes.

"He must be a damn fine cook if he's brought so much new business," Amelia commented, thinking of eclectic soups and surprisingly dainty things made by large, battle-scarred hands.

Amelia handed the bag over to him, nodding once. "I'll come by later. I was just sort of walking around earlier, but I'm probably going to check on Rhys soon, so..." she paused. Arms full, can't exactly open a door like that... She took a step towards him.

Wham!

...That's one way to open a door.

Amelia rushed towards Rajin, glancing once at the broken lock on the door, then towards Rajin again. "You know, I could have opened the door for--" she paused. She turned her head back into the kitchen, noting the man off to the side with the rather... er, prominent hawk wings expanding from his shoulderblades.

Well, that little mystery was confirmed.

"YOU!" Amelia yelped instinctively. She stared at Tibarn for a moment, then realized she was standing in the doorway in a winter morning, and probably everyone in there was now watching her like she had two heads or something. Her face started to turn pink, and she sheepishly dithered, unsure of whether to enter or to leave, but either way the door ought to be closed. "I-I mean... uh..."

"What... I mean is... Being a member of the holy order doesn't mean you can't put your own wants first sometimes. The goddess is supposed to be all‑forgiving, right? You've worked hard and you deserve to do some things that make you happy.
I think she'd forgive you for it."

User ImageTibarn's ears twitched as the door slammed open, and he growled softly as he turned. "Gah, Rajin, you could at least be a little-- oh gods damn," he murmured the moment he spotted Amelia. "Oh, no no no no, this is not right. Amelia," he said, sidling past Rajin and stepping outside, "This is a secret." He reached back, before Rajin could shout another word, and closed the door behind himself. "I don't want people to know about this job, because I don't want them coming and bothering me." He paused and added, "Cough."

He thrust his hands into his pockets and looked down, then up at the wall on his left, blowing a stream of white vapor from his lips. "Why... why are you here? You're not a friend of that lazy cat's, are you?" He looked down at her disapprovingly all of a sudden, as though scolding her for her association.
