"Throw myself into harm's way? I never!" Carlton protested. "I have a duty to my people - to live, and lead them when I return to Denasy, don't I? I simple cannot afford to die." Another elegant shrug, and he was ready to turn to another topic.
But this Jace Alaris man was cryptic, speaking of names tied up with trust. Carlton really didn't know what he was talking about, so he ignored whatever Alaris was going on about and greeted him as though he had said nothing.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, master Alaris," he said politely. He inclined his head slightly, the shallow movement a small bow of acknowledgement.

If Kira had a sense of better judgment she might not have heeded the call but as she was without any judgment of her own, and she was feeling strangely compelled to answer such a summons, she moved forward almost in a daze towards the strangely dressed man and his pet.
Something about the bird was so familiar to her, or seemed so familiar, that she could not deny the thrall it cast upon her as she walked slowly to him. When she neared she recovered some sense of herself and hailed him.
"Excuse me Sir, if I may, might I have a closer look at your bird?"
She did not even notice that this strange and the peculiar feeling inspired by the creature had nearly caused her to lose all thought of the Wizard, the Nobleman and the Prince.

Cronos held out his arm, and Samantha crawled down his arm towards the woman. "But of course my dear. Her name is Samantha." she spread out her wings, the end feathers were silver in color and appeared to glisten in the light. "Sam for short, she is quite the sucker for attention."

Jace's attention was then drawn by Kira, greeting yet another stranger. Only this time, it was fellow elf. He looked to be about a full century older than he himself was. If the sleep passed him, due to his race, then perhaps he would also have been unaffected. But, that was for a later time, between only the two of them.
Appearing to still be a part of the conversation, Jace allowed the words of the Nobleman and the young Prince to drown out. She seemed completely taken in by the man and his pet. Though, her focus was on the pet itself. Since he was staying at her side, with the true intention of learning about her memory loss, observation was a large part of his task. Hopefully, nothing she would do would escape his notice, as anything could be relevant at this point. With the trust she has shown in everyone, especially himself, he did not see this being a problem.

Kira didn't hear his words, her attention completely captivated by the show of shining feathers, and she reached out tentatively without thinking or being aware of her own actions. So lost was she within her own mind that she only saw what she was doing at the instant her fingers brushed the soft feathers of the bird..
And then she cried out in pain, bringing both hands to her head and nearly doubling over as a terrible throbbing took over her mind. She couldn't think, she couldn't speak, so great was her pain that she fell to one knee and felt tears well up in her eyes. She gasped, breathing now a difficult task rather than an automatic reflex, and she dug her fingers into her fire red hair in an attempt to hold together her skull which felt as if it were splitting open.

Carlton turned at the cry, and when he saw the lovely Kira on her knees in pain...
The sound of sharp steel being drawn rung out in the tavern air quite distinctly. Carlton dashed forward, sword pointed at the man who'd harmed Kira, the tip of the blade not wavering in its course. The tip halted a hair away from the elf's nose, and Carlton dropped to wrap a comforting arm around Kira without his sword leaving its mark.
He rose, arm around her and bringing her up with him, soothing her with soft hushes. When he was back, level with the elf again, the stern, proud and distant cast took to his features again and his voice was hard when he said accusingly, "What have you done to the lady, foul thing?!"

Samantha, flew off Cronos` arm and flew at Carlton, hitting his arm to move the sword away from Cronos. Cronos himself stepped back to be gain more space between himself and the hostility. "I have done nothing to the woman, she collapsed when she saw my friend." He held out his arm and Samantha landed on it again.

"Very well then," Carlton said suspiciously. He swung his sword back into position swiftly, to make his point, before sheathing it for the second time. He generally wasn't a suspicious man, but when a woman was in trouble, he could not afford to be too trusting-- so he was ready to draw it at a moment's notice.
"Are quite well, miss Kira?" he asked, worried. "Shall I call for a healer, or midwife of some sort?"
He was every inch the attentive, noble prince.
It was his nature.

Tristram noted that he had all but been forgotten about as the prince and wizard continued on with their conversation. It also appeared as if Kira had forgotten them altogether with her attention now on a man and his flacon. Falco rusticolus Tristram thought, with its large wing span and color tipped wings. The bird appeared domesticated, or as domestic as a wild animal can get. The man, another elf it seemed.
'My, they are coming out of the wood work are they not?'
Kira seemed distracted by the bird for some reason, and that alone had the nobleman curious. He found himself watching the woman's action carefully and closely, looking for something that would begin a story or even a small tale. He found himself moving slowly towards them, to the side to retain some manner of politeness, and waiting to see what came of this event.
Kira feel to her knees then racked with pain that seemed not there but a moment ago. She gripped her head as if to keep her grey matter within her head. The prince was to her in an instant with an arm around her and a sword to the elf's nose.
'that seems a bit rash.'
Tristram walked over to the prince with hands raised in a passive motion. He looked to the man and his bird, then to Carlton, then to the lady still in pain.
"The lady is in pain would you kindly put that thing away so I may have a look at her good sir. I have knowledge in matter that may help find the cause to the ladies problem. Please lay her down and I will have a look."

Alaris
Jace simply watched as the Nobleman attended to Kira. Though he was concerned, he felt it might be related to her memory loss. As he thought before, anything and everything was relevant. The only lead he had was the bird, though nothing spoke out about it. And although he wanted to help, only so many people could tend to one person, without causing an inconvenience to the others.
It doesn't appear to be lethal, only painful to her. But, such a reaction, from something as simple as a bird? There must be something more to this.

Cronos rolled his eyes. This man he thought is going to annoy me to no end. He looked at Samantha, clicked his to tongue twice, and she flew off. He looked back at the prince and looked at his now sheathed sword. "And keep your sword where it belongs, or better yet get rid of it. I hate such barbaric tools." Cronos watched as the nobleman approached, he had watched the entire incident and new that Cronos was of no harm for now.

[ MEDARA y'TISAN ]
The beautiful Halfling sauntered into the tavern, irritated beyond end. He hated that he didn't know where he was or why he was there, hated the crick in his neck that was born of the awkward position he'd been sleeping in (under someone's porch using a rock as a pillow), and he hated... A lot of things. Just irritated. Annoyed at - at everything, especially the witch who'd cursed him.
Medara flipped her auburn hair over her shoulders, drawing the looks of many a man despite her small stature. She crossed her arms as she entered, about to demand a very strong drink when her eyes fell on a very comely maiden.
A man had his arms around her - golden circlet probably meant he was an prince - and he didn't seem to happy with the elf...
"You know what?" Medara said, the bold quality of her words contradicting the sultry, honeyed tones they were spoken in. His arrogant gait second nature when he approached the three. "I think swords are not barbaric at all - why don't you whip it out again, princeling, and show the elf-man just how skilled you are with it while I take care of the poor girl?"

Cronos turned to Jace, and slowly walked up beside him "Boy." he addressed him, not caring to much about his age however old he might be. He stepped closer and spoke quietly so only the two of them could here the conversation "You stand still and watch quietly, I presume you are examining the young lady there, which can only mean you must have some idea of the sickness that ales her." he spoke quickly not wanting to be interrupted, but once he had said his fill he calmly awaited an answer.

Tristrum had come close to Kira at that point. He placed his hands around her face, then upon her forehead, then to her neck where he felt her pulse. He used fingers to open one of her eyes wider and looked deep into those orbs. He checked her hands next, seeing as they were the last to touch anything before she was stricken with pain. No marks, no cuts, not even a scratch so the bird was indeed not the culprit. She appeared fine in every way except that she was still in pain, but she seemed to be calming down if only slight. Tristram was about to recommend they bring her back into the tavern when a voice called out.
It seemed directed more to the prince than anything else. It was a Halfling.
'Oh by all that is sacred, really? I have a feeling this is only the beginning.'
The Halfling seemed to want to, "take care" of the maiden. Something Tristram even had to worry about. His cane was still by his side and its hidden blade well within reach, but he hoped it would not come to that. Things were getting complicated, and for Tristram to admit to such a thing was no mean feat.
"He can draw his blade on whoever he likes in a moment, but for the time being let us make sure the lady is alright shall we?"
