"The chair just loves you," he said, paw reaching out for the sedative; but the laugh came and his fingers settled on the scapel instead.

"Hold that thought, Yorick." He flipped it into his palm with a clink of metal - eyes widened momentarily as he focused on nothing but the stitches, and with a deft precision [and perhaps a bit of prayer] he sliced the blade across the threads.

"That's ridiculous, even by my standards!" Yorick retorted, pursing his lips over his teeth as well as he could. "And hold it? Ask the chair to why don't--" Everything in him stopped functioning. His brain shut down, his heart stopped and his lungs decided he didn't need to breathe anymore. The metallic sound gave Maxwell away, and just as the Jabberwock's eyes turned to see what it was, he saw what he didn't want to see, and could not unsee it.

And it was aiming right for his neck.

Yorick roared, a nerve-fraying sound of outrage that heavily masked the high frequency fear beneath as something on his neck snapped and gave. His vision of tea tables shattered into the tulgey wook of old, the path he had galumphed upon and the vorpal blade that waited eagerly to drink of his misfortune. Only this time, it was wielded by the amber-eyed Cheshire and he had no where to go.

The beast struggled, every ounce of strength in his panic-ridden body put into getting away and fleeing. Fighting wasn't even an option in his fear-addled mind; his arms flexed and his leg muscles clenched, the former pulling with all his might while the latter pushed against the floor, the claws on each of his limbs screeching angrily against metal and tile. The love-chair protested with a loud squeal, but adrenaline won out, the bindings on the arms of the enamored furniture yielding. Yorick's arms were free, complete with metal bracers as a parting gift.

He stood, tail lashing wildly as his wings spread to their grand fullest, easily doubling his size. The Jabberwock prepared to move, to spring, to go anywhere but sit there, his claws lifting to press the thick pads of his paws against his neck to hold himself together. The digits ran over smooth skin, and just as suddenly as it began, the fight in him died. Large paws grasped at the tan skin of his neck, pressing into the muscle, claws creating red welts where they passed, but the stunned creature could only stand and grope his neck.

Yorick the Jabberwock was whole.

"The treacle tarts are ready if - oh, for goodness sake." Julien had just popped his head in after the lengthy baking incursion into the kitchen - were they still not done? "What are you doing faffing around, Maxwell?" he clicked his tongue in annoyance as he bounded up to the wondering Jabberwock, "you haven't even got the ones going round the back of his neck!"

Once the blade was wrought he stepped away, tucking the scapel behind his back. An eyelid flickered when Yorick rose [the shackles now really needed to be replaced] and he dodged the vehement swish of scorpion tail; well.

Well.

Yorick was still a weird teenager.

The bunny's dismissal was what caught Maxwell, mostly in rage - "You try cutting the stitches of an insecure fictitiously clawed and winged creature with a pointy objects complex and living! Faffing around my f-"

The ones around the back of his neck.

"And then," he hissed, "you try cutting the rest of them."

"Fine, you whiny crybaby," he rummaged around in his pocket for something he'd picked up on his way back from the kitchen - he'd thought it might come in handy...where was it...ah - yes: "Yorick, if you don't mind," waving a dainty pair of nail clippers vaguely, "could you just hold still for a moment?"
PostPosted: Sat Dec 26, 2009 11:37 pm

During the exchange, Yorick had retained his silence, blinking in rapid bats of his flame-resistant lids, eyes staring off into nothing as his large hands continued to touch his own neck. He only vaguely heard the mention of stitches on the back, and indeed, a brush of his thumb pad over the nape of his neck proved this to be true. The argument between the two eldest Hytes went mostly unheard as the Jabberwock retook his seat, trying to fiddle with the chair to release his feet since his strength was no longer at his disposal. Glancing up as the White Rabbit called his name, he looked to the white paws that held a harmless nail clipper and nodded.

"Okay," he replied intelligently, leaning his elbows on his knees and using one clawed hand to draw his hair over his shoulder and out of the White Rabbit's way, hunched over enough to get a clear view of his neck. Though nonplussed, his eyes remained on the Cheshire, just in case he decided to pull any further knife tricks.

He leaned in close and neatly clipped apart the remaining threads, carefully picking out the remnants. It was barely any time at all before he flipped the clippers back into place and tucked them away. "There!" he dusted his paws with satisfaction at a job well done, "thanks for being so good about it, Yorick! Does it feel alright now?"

Sitting up, his clawed hands traversed the back of his neck and again swiped over the front, his expression somewhat lost. "I d-don't think 'right' is the right word," he admitted after a moment, feeling his own throat moving against the pads of his hands. "Tuh-tomorrow morning is going to be interesting...this doesn't feel right, no, but I think I'll be right...eventually..."

Yorick lightly ticked the claws of his feet over the floor. "If we're done, c-could I possibly...get the chair to stop hugging my legs?"

A sort of agony boiled in Maxwell's stomach - he shot a dirty look at the rabbit, one that conveyed a deep longing to smack both parties severely and savagely. The growing incredulity during the little dainty clipclips of the nailclipper didn't help, and by the end of it he was staring in vehement disbelief at Juli's guileless satisfaction. It was only when Yorick wanted the chair to dehug him that he shifted his stare, said "sure," and clicked the shackles open.

[Any of the wonderland kids want to respond, or are we just going down for treacle tarts and growing up now? lol ]

(( been on holiday, sorry about that. ))

Elda found that her hands made a good hiding place. Oh yes, so long as she remained plastered to the door with her palms clapped over her cheeks and her fingers fanned across her eyes, she could definitely make herself unseen. It was a shame the floor wasn't earthy and she was not an ostrich; she would have certainly stuck her head in the ground.

And humming, she took to humming when Yorick crashed the tea party. It worked for the Von Trapps, didn't it?

It took the flamingo a good moment to discern between the roar still echoing in her head to the buzz of mostly civil voices. When she did, she peeled her webbed fingers apart and lowered her hands timidly. Alas, her stomach and color were still MIA. Elda glanced between The Cat and Rabbit several times before settling nervously on Yorick. Her hands came together in a stiff clap.

"Let's see, let's see!" she croaked, taking a step forward, smiling. His head looked firmly in place, which she took as a good sign-- a very good sign! "Is that all she wrote, then, Doc?"

Midway through the Jabberwocky's operation, the Dormouse found himself drifting off to sleep in a standing position. Some support he was. Elda's croaking was what jolted him back to reality, almost as if someone had whispered the dreaded C-word into his ear. Shaking off his sleep with a rub of his eye, Clement casually glanced over at his fellow Wonderlanders.

"So, is it --" A yawn escaped his mouth, and then he continued, "nevermind. Guess it is," The Dormouse flashed Yorick a sheepish smirk, and then gave him a pat on the back. He had been brave to sit through getting his stitches removed, but it was worth it.

"Looks good, mate! Now we can all eat treacle tarts in celebration!"

[Sukku, Mriae - you guys were here right on time! heart We'd had to get all the actual 'surgery' out of the way first. XD;;]

"Oh - just let me take a look at that..." Julien eyed the 'shackles' around Yorick's wrists and tossed a brief incredulous stare at Maxwell - what on earth? They must have come off the old lab chair, though how it happened he wasn't sure he wanted to find out: only a loose bolt seemed to be holding them in place anyhow...a few deft twists and - "You're a free man, Mr. Yorick!"

"Belle was making tea the last time I was in the kitchen, and the tarts are cooling downstairs," he smiled at the Wonderland kids, looking, he considered, all the better for their little experience. And I hope they stay that way, he added to himself, I'm not sure that internet recipe was quite right, and it'd be too soon if we come back to this room again...

(( And naturally I got sick. @A@ Sorry if this is - hurhur - disjointed. ))

He gave his two friends a rather perplexed look. Had he forgotten they were there, or were they still so enamored with the tea party that he had been forgotten? Not that he would blame them - he would have preferred a nice cup of tea to the humiliating spectacle any day!

Yorick lowered his large claws as Elda peeked near, displaying his perfectly intact neck, save for the red welts his own claws had left in his confused scramble. He gave Clement a light smile; the conversation about treacle tarts before the lab seemed like ages ago! He knew it was a farse, however, for had it been any further than that very day, he'd not remember it in the least.

The Jabberwock pulled himself into a wobbly but standing position, giving the White Rabbit a silent nod of thanks before resting his arms on either side of the Wonderlandians, the only two in existence who would ever understand his wrath turned puppy-dog-compliance within seconds. Only they would truly ever get him, and he supposed it was both their burden and their blessing. "Tarts and tea," he agreed, quite ready to forget the incident already, "let's not keep the Blue Lady waiting..."

Maxwell deposited the scapel back in its tray with vehement but controlled force - it clattered a little, but thankfully the jabberwock didn't seem to have heard. So the crazy one was done, and the mouse was too laid back to be in any more fear than he was...alright then, "Get out and go and enjoy your treacle tarts." he said, shoving the three and the rabbit out of the door. He was going to have to figure out what to do with the broken lab chair before Maxx and Jun came back...

END
Alright, peeps!
