"Not that I would have minded you changing earlier anyways...but I suppose it wouldn't have been appropriate with your sister here and all." Keeta smirked at her husband as his mother held up the pants.
She returned Ceres' hug, grateful that the woman could hug that strongly, given what had just happened. She flushed slightly at Ceres' question, not sure how to answer. The distraction of Natalia's discomfort allowed her an opportunity to hide her hesitation.
"What do you mean, Ceres?"

Rhine wordlessly excused himself and headed behind a group of bushes. He didn't have a problem exposing himself to Keeta but his mother and sister were another story.
"It's just you're getting a bit thicker," Ceres said trying to put it as nicely as possible. "Perhaps it is just my age- although I've never know any pair of eyes I use to be off."
"Anyways," Ceres shook her head. "Have you made any head way with Natalia." She pointed to the mare who pranced in step. "And, yes that is my daughter. A fine mess..." She sighed. "We haven't made any and you just happened to appear during the worst of it." She was weary of how calm things appeared to be.
"Silly." Natalia glanced over at the dragon who had headed for the bushes.

"Well..." Keeta moved past the topic of her 'thickness' to continue the discussion about Natalia, at least until Rhine was able to join her. It was only fair they tell Ceres together.
"I'm not sure any progress has been made, although I wish I hadn't been left out of the situation to start with. I really can't say, not having been here since the beginning. Perhaps I could have helped, who knows? But what's done is done," she sighed.
"She seems content to stay now that He has left her with us, but she's still guarded and wary. She doesn't seem to value love anymore. It's nothing more than a human flight of fancy to her. She might have remembered the children, but it's hard to say."

"Between Rhine and myself we didn't want you to get ruffed up," Ceres said apologetically to Keeta. "Nothing against you," she paused, "we just know how nasty the island is." She pulled the length of her hair over her shoulder and within one flow of her hand it was braided.
Rhine, shirtless, stepped from the bushes. "I haven't worn this pair of shorts since my early teens..." his cheeks turned red. "Heaven's what was Vlad thinking," he laughed. "I guess I should be glad that they at least reach my knees..."
Ceres chuckled. "Perhaps that is a sign that you need to clean out your drawers." She then turned her attention back to Keeta. "If your observation's are correct then the island has taken her back to the basics. Or at least a generation or two into the 'punishment,"
Ceres sighed and wrapped her arms around her waist. Outward physically was repaired but inwardly the 'magic' was still at work.

"Well I just want you guys to understand that even though you want to protect me...and I appreciate that, that I am capable to helping....althought you might be a little more right than you know right now...." she said, turning her head towards her husband as he approached.
"Those certainly are fashionable," Keeta said, teasingly. Her anger was cooled right now, and she would keep it that way until there was a better time for them to deal with it. Right now though, they had to tell Ceres their news. She took Rhine's hand when he was close enough, and then Keeta turned to face Ceres once more.
"We have something to tell you."

"I wonder what I was thinking when I bought these," Rhine grinned and gave his wife's hand a squeeze.
"I certainly hope this news doesn't involve those shorts," Ceres chuckled. She was doing her best to roll with the joke. "All jokes aside," she said as she waved her hand and Rhine's shorts became something closer to Rhine's current tastes.
Natalia snorted as she roughed her feathers.

Keeta squeezed Rhine's hand and looked him in the face once more before turning to Ceres.
"You weren't going crazy earlier, when you noticed a thickning around my middle. We're pregnant." She bit her lip slightly, but one corner of her mouth turned up into a tenative smile. She hoped with everything else going on, that this wasn't a terrible time to share the news. Gently, she massaged the barely distinguishable bump that was developing.

Ceres mind was trying to wrap itself around the concept of Keeta being pregnant. She kept herself from blurting out 'how'. She knew 'how' babies were created... It was just hard to comprehend when Rhine hadn't managed thus far to do so.
Rhine had been watching his mother intently but didn't feel the need to interrupt her thoughts with some joke to lighten the mood... It had seriously been a rough day.
"Congratulations," Ceres finally said. All things were possible- that much she knew.

"Umm...thanks," Keeta said, trying to hide her disappointment. She knew it had been a hard several days, but she was hoping such an announcement would give Ceres a little bright spot, but she just got the very most basic of replies. One that was expected by courtesy, but didn't seem to carry any genuine feeling behind it. She tried to move past it, in hopes Ceres wouldn't pick up on it.
"We just found out not that long ago...that's part of why Rhine chose to surprise me by moving up the wedding date...It was definitely a shock to both of us."

"Keeta I am sorry if I disappointed you," Ceres picked up her emotions through her tone of voice. Since she didn't have site except through others eyes she had learned to listen better. "I just never thought it possible," she wasn't about to mention the how. She knew Keeta wouldn't cheat on Rhine.
"We haven't much time," Ceres said as she pulled Keeta away from Rhine and hugged her. "We have much planning to do," her voice was now lighter in spirits.
Rhine looked at his mother. He tried not to let it be known that she was up to something. He hadn't confirmed it so why bring it up.

"Haven't much time for the baby? Oh I figure we still have several months left at the very least. I don't know what the gestational period on a 1/4 elf, 1/4 human, 1/2 dragon baby is, but I'm not very far along either way." Keeta figured Ceres was talking about the baby at any rate. Either way she was happy with the more positive mood. She squeezed the older woman gently.

"I figure we can throw a better than decent baby shower together in about a weeks time," Ceres was finally getting excited.
However, her excitement was short lived when she looked at Natalia. "We best get her, and get her home..." She sighed. "What's left of it at least."

"Don't you think it's a bit soon for a shower?" Keeta asked, a bit confused.
"Not that that wouldn't be nice, but you're kind of overwhelmed with all this right now, and aren't showers normally held only a month or two before delivery? I'm not even really showing yet...." She frowned slightly, looking at Natalia.
"Well we can figure that out later. You're right, we should get her home. And I should get my husband and children home." She looked at Rhine meaningfully, her expression serious.
"We have some things to talk about." She took Rhine's hand gently and started pulling him in the direction of the house, trying to get Natalia to follow.

"The showers going to have to be sooner," Ceres whispered more to her self than anyone else.
When Natalia saw them walking away she stood up. She was reluctant to follow until she felt a gentle, familiar wind, nudging her forward.
"I'd welcome the beating," Rhine grinned.
