As much as I like the idea of starter Evomon, the problem isn't the Evomon in particular, but the starter part. If we made three Evomon the "starter" pokemon, wouldn't we need to give them out to whoever joins the guild?

Sorry, I didn't quite read all of the pages before I commented. I stand by my previous comment, and furthermore, I agree with Gaku123. I think it just makes life easier, and it solves the problem of handing out EIs.
Plus, not everyone is as lucky as Ash and who got three pokemon to choose from, and then another one as backup. There are tons of pokemon out there, and trainers are really at the mercy of circumstances. Sometimes you get an egg that hatches into elekid as your starter, sometimes you get a Pigeot. It all depends on how you happen to stumble into Evomon.
EDIT: For example, my first Evomon was Gimpi. I didn't have ti handed to me, (*cough cough* ASH! *cough cough*) I went out into the world and found one as tiny bottle! I was there when it hatched into little more than a fluff ball, and we've been together ever since.
