User ImageAlthea nodded at Blackthorn and waited for him to start his travels towards the man place. She waited a bit before nudging Raven out from behind her.

"We're scouting together. Once we're sure it's a safe area we'll likely separate. If we split now, something could pick us off one by one before we could alert each other to the danger."

She waited a bit longer before making her move, having to travel a bit farther to find plants and objects large enough to hide her bulk. She sniffed cautiously before setting out after Blackthorn, masking her trails by staying close to the tallest plants.

Badassi listened closely, nodding. As much as he wished to keep from entering that place, they needed to. Else the trip would be in vain. He sighed and groomed an ear quickly, then dropped to all fours.

The plan sounded good, for now. He waited for Althea and Raven to go, then he would bring up the rear.

Cowslip crouched low, his ears flattened as he watched the horrifying creature stomp over the mound that poor Harebell was hiding within. What could they do to help? He was terrified that he would make the situation worse if he were to act. He peered around the corner, watching, then searched for the buck that had been accompanying them.

The scratching feet and ruffle of feathers prompted a curious expression on the gray rabbit. A bird? What sort of creature would make such a noise. A hawk would have attacked form the sky, ending them without their even realization of the happening. But this large creature fluttered around, thumping along with its long claws. Lifting slightly, he peered over the water bucket, observing the strange creature with the rather extravagant feathers. His ears flattened against his head as it screeched. Looking over the pile, his brows upturned. If the bird kept at it, he'd cave in the hole, exposing Harebell and no doubt injuring the doe.

What were they to do? He couldn't just leave her there, could he? Cowslip seemed to have something in mind. Could he sneak up on the thing and distract it? Maybe then Harebell would be able to escape. Slowly he stepped out from his hiding place, glancing over to Cowslip, wondering, even pleading he'd follow along with him, but slowly he crept over to the loud bird, staring up at it curiously, drawing a blank on what to say to the creature.
"Ah...the...um, did you say you were looking for the females?" he spoke his voice faltering slightly. His ears were still flat against his head, while his body shook, ready to dart off if the bird decided to give chase.

User ImageOnce all three had joined him in the thicket, he turned his attention back to the barn before them. He couldn't help but wonder how the rest were doing.. the group that had split from them earlier, with Harebell and that black and white spotted fellow.. were they alright? And Gink's group... he just hoped Bramblebur was managing to keep things from getting out of hand.

He had to admit.. Cocklebur was doing a fine job of splitting them all up and making it harder to keep tabs on everyone, since he and his two companions were now cut off from the rest it was obviously planned... Cocklebur knew he didn't approve of the Captain's choices.. had he figured out Althea and Badassi were with him? Maybe.. infact, most likely.. which only made his concern grow. If Cocklebur had split them off so well, what was he planning? For this was no accident, and the Captain knew the other group would be sorely disadvantaged without a single owsla with them..

Sighing he pulled himself together and nodded to the three with him. "We need to get over there and look inside. I'l go in, Badassi you're with me. Althea and Raven, you two stand guard on the door and alert us if anything approches.. " he looked at each in turn, waiting for an aknowladgement from each or if any had a concern before they moved off.

The tall bird suddenly stopped as the rabbit spoke to him. Its long neck craned and looked back and forth and then down.

He stared at the rabbit before crowing loudly... "COMPETITION!" The turkey went into a flurry of feathery rage and charged at Fledgestone, screaming. "LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!"

Badassi bobbed his head in a nod in response to Blackthorn's instructions. He had to admit, he felt immensely better knowing the outskirter would remain outside. Hopefully she would have better chances out there.

"I'm with you, Blackthorn. Lets get this done as we can. Hopefully something good will come of it." His thoughts drifted to their captain and anxious worry tugged at his gut.

Cowslip caught the other buck's gaze and seemed to understand. He slipped from hiding to face the feathered beast that stomped over Harebell and inhaled sharply before calling out.

"Yeah? Looking for ladies? I don't think there are any right here!"

He regretted his decision almost instantly as the turkey began to ran. He darted to the left, his heart thudding heavily as he tried to find cover.

He glanced over to Cowslip as he joined him, but quickly returned his gaze to the bird as it addressed them. His pupils shrunk as the bird charged, flashing it's golden browns, and auburn green-hued feathers. He let out a shrill squeak as the large creature rampaged, immediately scrambling on his feet to dart away, ears back and eyes wide, peering about for a place he could hide himself. Though he didn't really think much about it at the moment, too concerned with his present situation, he hoped the bird would continue after him, allowing Cowslip to return to Harebell and get her out of her ruined shelter.

User ImageOnce they were all together again she tilted her ears at Blackthorn's instructions. Though she thought highly of the Owsla, she wasn't much for being bossed around. She didn't disagree with him though, and simply nodded.

Watch duty was nervous work, and with her size it would be rather difficult to lay low and be able to see well. She sighed inwardly. This day just kept getting worse and worse. She prayed for the umpteenth time to Frith, thinking on Crow and Faili with great worry. If she got back to the warren with all three of them intact she swore she'd never cuff their ears again. Althea frankly couldn't care less about the flayrah any longer, this raid had been a botch from the start.

She looked to her daughter, making sure she understood the instructions.

The turkey didn't seem the least bit interested in Cowslip and instead continued to charge after Fledgestone. "LOLOLOLOLOLOL!" it continued to scream, causing quite a rucous as it chased the rabbit across the side of the house.

A door then flew open and a woman came out. "What's all this goin on out 'ere?!" The tureky and rabbit then streaked by, leaving the woman to stare in disbelief.

As the strange bird-beast chased after Fledgestone, Cowslip banked back towards the compost pile. He seemed to go unnoticed, which he found surprising, but he took the opportunity to check on the doe hiding in the stinking dirt.

"Harebell? Harebell, are you alright?"

He pawed at the pile with a splotched paw, hoping the turkey's weight hadn't harmed her.

He let out yet another shriek as the bird continued to flank him, thankful the creature had yet to stab at him with that strange beak of his. But that didn't stop him from pounding his hind against the ground as hard as he could, his breathing harsh. The swinging of the door was hardly noticeable as he passed by the woman, completely unaware of her presence as he continued to run.

With all the noise from the turkey, further in the farm the chained dog's ears stood up and he lifted his head. He happened to catch a glimpse of the fleeing rabbit being chased by the turkey. Leaping to his feet the hound howled and started barking while the relentless turkey continued to chase Fledgestone.

Somewhere nearby, Cocklebur stood up on his hind legs, his ears up at all the noise. The captain smirked to himself, and continued on his way.

What a terrifying noise! She was glad it wasn't aimed at her, but at the same time she feared for the bucks she had came with. She hadn't even seen this creature yet, so there was no telling what it could or will do to them. She looked around her small make shift scrape, pondering a decision. She could continue digging the hole and make an escape route out the back of the heap, or run now.
Looking around at her hole she certainly saw potential in it but not enough to get her to continue work. The location of it was far too dangerous. But if she had only enough time. . . Maybe she could dig /under/ the heap, into the firmer soil.
For now, she was safe in this heap. . . but what if it caved in?

No. It was all too much a risk. She nosed her way to the entrance, peering out for signs of that bird, spotting the thing making the horrifying noise chasing after Cowslip.

Embleer frith! They'll alert the whole farm at this rate! Surely man would hear that noise and with that they'll bring dog. It was zorn. Utter zorn.
This was no good at all.

No, that blasted bird was making far too much noise for safety. She decided to go for her new plan, and dug a new hole out, the entrance against the side of the building, before beginning to dig into the more familiar soil below. They needed a haven away from that bird, and quickly! Running around like headless chickens would do them no good at all! She'd only hope that Cowslip and the others would catch on that she wasn't retreating so soon.
However, a familiar voice caught her ears, and she looked up, calling to him. "Around the back! Get in by the man thing!" She called to him, continuing her digging into more sturdy soil. the dog only making her more frantic in her digging."

"Someone needs to alert the others, I think!" His silver eyes shone with worry as he spoke with the doe. Slip into her little tunnels with his bulky frame, possibly be trapped, others were in danger. Or... Stay out and do what he can to help. It was one or the other. Was that a dog barking?

Oh, Frith help them!
