xxxxx"If you're worried about surviving, xxxxxxxyou can worry about it after you're dead!" "The wyvern riders of Bern sit atop the heap of all other forces on the continent!" xxxxx "You will see our power soon!" As the clerics screamed, it caused Mihira to scream, and then when Abel fell and crashed on the floor, Mihira screamed again. She held her hand on her heart, and breathed heavily, not sure what had just happened. "..D-did I... come at a bad time...?" She blinked a couple of times, hoping that somebody would say something.
When Alihi responded to her earlier call, she looked over to the girl in the cot, and timidly made her way over. "U-um... eeek!" She jumped a bit, as a hand belonging to the boy on the floor fell and hit her foot. She then cautiously moved around the boy, so as not to disturb him and continued to talk to Alihi. "Thank goodness I found you... u-um..." Mihira looked behind her, and pulled up a chair and sat down. "Well, I suppose I should fill you in on what has happened. Basically, the others ran after Sir Roy, who went to look for his mother. I stayed behind, because, well... The Guard is being deployed!" She smiled, hoping that this news would lighten the tactician's mood, after having just been injured badly. "They should be here, fairly soon. They're coming to rescue the others and get your daughter back... S-sorry for taking so long to tell you..." Mihira twiddled her fingers a bit. "Anyway... If you're okay to go, you should make your way to the border, outside the city. I'll see you, if you come... so, um..." Mihira stood up, and pushed the chair back to where she got it. "I really hope you'll be okay! And, um.. I'm sorry that we failed the first time, but I'm sure we won't lose, this time! A-and I'm sorry if I've just been a burden... but I'll make it up to you!" Mihira smiled lightly to Alihi. "I better get going... I don't want to miss getting there, before my commander." With that, Mihira bowed slightly to the tactician, then darted out the door, making her way to the rendezvous.
Back at Eyris castle, the doors leading to the gathering of guards and other people Vaida probably didn't care about flung open, and the Captain of the Guard herself walked through. She stood before the ones who had gathered, and looked them over, mumbling to herself. "Let's see... Some sword guy I don't know, some snake thing, that shaman girl, a pair of house cats, that dragon guy, ...and a fabulous archer, who thinks that pony tail's are in." Vaida paused a moment. "******** hit the ground with the bottom of her spear, and spoke out to them all. "HEY!" She roared, making sure she got all of their attention. "Alright, listen up. You're here, because you want to help your fellow guild members. WHY so few of you came, I don't know, but at least now I know not to count on anybody but myself, with this guild as 'friends'." She chuckled a little at this situation. "But at least you can tell yourself that you actually have some decency, unlike the ones who didn't bother to show up." Vaida glared out into space, as if staring menacingly at some sort of figure who was perhaps reading everything that was going on, causing them to feel guilty. "But, you are here, and I hope you prepared yourself with the time you had." Vaida hit the ground with the bottom of her spear once, and the guards formed an orderly marching line. With another hit, the guards turned and faced the exit, ready to move out. "Form up, with the guards, and keep up with them! When we reach the border, we'll be rendezvousing with part of the first group, who went into Sentria. Among them is my scout, who will show us where to go. When we reach the desert... be prepared for anything."
With those closing menacing words, Vaida made her way to the front of the battalion, where Umbriel was waiting. She knew that one of the crew was going to come along and make sure things went according to plan, but whoever it was must have been waiting at the city gates, or something. After mounting Umbriel, Vaida turned and looked back at the soldiers. "Move out!" She shouted. Vaida then took off into the sky, and flew low, ahead of them. The guard had deployed, and were on their way.

Isadora arrived at the gates of the castle. She could see that the group was moving forward. So it seemed that the paladin had arrived on time.
A shadow flew passed her. Looking up, she could see it was Vaida, flying toward the destination of where they were headed. The paladin looked back at the group and frowned a bit. Besides some of the castle guards coming with them, there were also so very little group among them, even the cat laguz who had helped her tried to capture the madwoman. However, if this was what they had to reinforce, then she had nothing to argue about. Besides, the mission that Alihi was given had become bigger and serious. She prayed to St. Elimine that the mission would go smoothly.
Isadora turned Tuomas around and headed off to the city gates. She figured that Vaida had explained to the group while she was away. After all, it was not easy for the paladin to be at two places at once. As she rode by, the paladin thought about resupply her weapons. She needed to be prepared before heading to Sentria. However, she was unsure if she was the right crew for the job. Horses and desert don't mix well together. The paladin again prayed again in case the mission didn't work well.

Lethe thought about her sister’s words for a moment. Make friends? In the past she made allies and acquaintances, not much else. Rarely did a non-laguz gain enough of her trust to form a friendship. Ike, Jill, Stefan, and Zihark were those few individuals. Attend a social beorc event? That just wasn’t her style. The Gallian captain was a soldier, not a socialite like her twin. And yet something in her mind told her to take a chance. Perhaps there were people in Learania worthy of her respect. “Fine. I’ll go to the next social event held. That’s a promise. You happy?” The older cat closed her eyes and sighed with content.
Protesting the idea of Lyre joining the recruits would be pointless at this moment. The inexperienced laguz seemed determined as well as prepared for the trip. Just then Lethe heard a booming female voice. A tall, blond beorc woman with a spear addressed the group. So this was the guards' leader? Hm. She seemed fierce enough. “Move out,” ordered Vaida after mounting her wyvern and giving her speech. "About time," the feline warrior muttered under her breath.
Out of the corner of her violet eyes, Lethe noticed the lady knight she aided earlier. Apparently this woman finished her business involving all of the insane citizens. The elder sibling nudged her younger. “That blue haired beorc on the horse, Lyre, do you know her,” she asked in a whisper. Curiosity made Lethe want to know more about the paladin.

Shinon vaguely heard Vaida's speech but his attention was snagged when she said "Move Out." Shinon got up and spat on the ground. "About time, I was getting bored. Wait, I'm always bored." Shinon walked towards the soldiers moving out. He walked slow and paced himself. As he was walking he bumped into Lethe. "Ugh, watch where you stand, you scut." He walked on without any concern or care.

♦ ◄ALIHI► ♦ ————————————
Alihi rested her hands on her lap, absorbing every word Mihira spoke. Her face lit up with optimism at the mentioning of the Guard, though it dwindled when Mihira mentioned where they were going to meet. Obviously, Alihi was going to go; it was completely out of the question for her to stay behind. It was her responsibility as a mother and a tactician to see through this kind of thing. However, she was hardly in the condition to be traveling around, especially to a desert region. Her body was still tired, her strength not completely restored.
Sometimes, though, health had to be pushed aside for something an individual believed in.
For Alihi, this was one of those times. She carefully swung her legs out from under the covers, stepping onto the floor away from Abel. A couple experimental steps proved to be stable enough; she could walk (sort of), but she surely could not run. No matter what, she would have to avoid fighting at all costs. That's okay by me... She pressed her hands gently against her abdomen, where she was stabbed some time earlier. A layer of white bandages were now there, hidden underneath her shirt, just as a precaution; they covered both of her healed areas, her stomach and side, and served as a reminder to the tactician to not over-exert herself. I... can't die. Not now. She walked over to where Abel was, holding out a hand for him to take.
Not when I have so many reasons to live.
"You coming along? You know there's no way I could possibly stay behind... It's just impossible." A small smile came to her face. "I'm not giving up. ... I refuse to."

With Aruna’s strategy thwarted, Shinon fired a single arrow past the nagini’s beautiful face and into her tan hood. If it wasn’t for the tail feathers, it would have gone completely through the fibers. “How dare you,”yelled the red-headed woman as she ripped out the arrow. The hole in her cloth covering grew larger from the rough removal.
Next the sniper had the gall to just walk away from their struggle. Aruna hissed with anger. Now she wasn’t even worth his time?! “Oh if he ever enters the café, he will surely receive my wrath,” the waitress vowed in her mind. “Poison in his drink, needles in his food, I don’t care how. This archer will be punished for his insults one way or another!”
Suddenly a loud voice snapped the snake woman out of her scheming. “Form up, with the guards, and keep up with them! When we reach the border, we'll be rendezvousing with part of the first group, who went into Sentria. Move out!” The owner of that voice commanded. Quickly an image of a green scaly bard came to mind. Aruna’s frustration immediately melted away. Of course. How could she have let her rage cloud the real reason for coming to the guards?
With her resolve returning her to a calmer state of mind, the orange-red naga slithered onward with the rest of the group to the port city of Pentheus.

After his hand fell and hit Mihira on the foot, Abel shook his head and snapped out of his daze. The girl's squeal had served a good purpose by waking him up. He then sat up, and leaned against the side of the cot, holding his head. He couldn't help but call himself stupid. He had the perfect chance, and he blew it. Blew it! And even more than blowing it, he just had to land where he did. He had been in embarrassing situations... quite a lot, actually, but this he would probably never be able to live down.
As he hid by the side of the cot, he heard Mihira speaking. The Guard was coming! Abel smiled at this news, and was thankful that he was right about the others' actions. Help was on the way, and it would be here, soon. Abel was so excited at the news, that he didn't notice when Alihi got up, and walked around. When she made her over to over him, however, Abel looked up, and took the hand that was raised out to him.
Abel smiled back at Alihi, and got to his feet. Time was wasting, and they had to get to where the Guard was going to meet. He wasn't going to slow Alihi down. "Yeah. ...Let's go!"

Lyre grinned satisfactorily. "Deal. And yes, that does make me happy." She was glad to hear Lethe willing to try, at the very least, to lighten up a bit in the future. She started at Vaida's voice, swallowing a lump in her throat. Of COURSE is had to be Vaida, the most terrifying beorc that belonged to the Eyris guard. At least she was on their side, rather than the enemy- and actually, thinking back on it, the woman had provided ample assistance on numerous occasions.
She was just. Scary. To look at. She was shaken out of her inner thoughts as her sibling gave her a nudge as they moved. "Huh? Oh..." she looked over Lethe's shoulder to see who she was asking about. "That's Lady Isadora- she's one of the Crew," Lyre whispered back, "Why? Did you run into her or something?"

FD watched in shock as the Sniper person with the pony tail came up, insulting Aruna, and the brief struggle between the two that immediately followed. It went by so fast. How could someone in Learania be such a bigot? It was the one place he'd ever been where people from anywhere could end up and live harmoniously with people from all walks of life, species, and cultures. He'd even mused that people from all sorts of places mysteriously ended up here just so that they might be able to live in such a place, even if there was always some life-threatening scandal going on. But those things only united their eclectic community even more, from his experience! Learania was supposed to be a sanctuary, damnit! One where forces perpetually tried to obliterate them, yes, but a different sort of sanctuary. FD had NEVER encountered a racist since he'd ended up here and had come to believe that it was due to some grander scheme for Learania.
What the ******** was someone like that sniper doing here, then? Who did he think he was? In his shock conglomerated with anger and horror, FD mused that it was in fact the man who had been lucky, because if he had hit Aruna with that shot, he'd have been Flametongue'd himself not a minute later.
And then there was Vaida. This was just another occasion in which the guild’s citizens would unite for the sake of repelling some force from doing something terrible or other. It wasn’t the first time and certainly wouldn’t be the last, and FD was more than willing to participate. It was the price one paid for living in what he had considered to be a place of racial harmony not five minutes ago. As powerful as that observation had been to him, he wasn’t going to allow it to stop him from helping out right now – although he’d seriously be reassessing his philosophies on Learania later. But for the moment, he simply tried to calm his nerves about the experience and proceed forward with the group. Before he started going forward though, he thought about Nils. They hadn’t had an opportunity to reunite in a few days with all that was going on and Nils having his crew duties to deal with. He only hoped his beloved bard companion wouldn’t become a part of whatever conflict was going on, and promised him self he’d be returning to Nils when he got back.
Without any further ado, FD went forward with the company. He tried to work his way towards Aruna, the snake-woman he’d just met. When he had caught up with her, he attempted to continue their previously interrupted dialogue. “Aruna,” he cried when he was closing in on her position. “I’m so sorry that that man was giving you trouble. In all the time I’ve been in Learania, I’ve never once encountered someone like him here. His behavior was entirely unacceptable.”

While waiting for her twin’s reply, Lethe was suddenly bumped into by Shinon. “Watch where you stand, you scut.” “Walk somewhere else, filthy human!” The cat laguz growled. Moments later she remembered that insulting voice. It was that damned sniper from the Greil Mercenaries. Lethe became tempted to quarrel with him. “Hey, where’s your boyfriend? What was his name? Gatrie? Off chasing other another girl I bet,” she thought about saying. But for now she held her tongue.
“That's Lady Isadora- she's one of the Crew. Why? Did you run into her or something?,” Lyre had whispered back. “You could say that. During my walk through Eyris earlier, I spotted her in battle against a deranged beorc woman. She appeared to be in trouble so I aided her,” Lethe stated. The Gallian captain purposefully left out details of the fight. “So she’s a member of the crew? I would have never guessed.”-※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ “Hm?” Aruna turned her head when she heard her name being called out. It was FD trying to get her attention. “Ah. FD,” she said as the man approached. “You don’t need to be the one apologizing about that. If anyone is to apologize, it should be that ill-mannered archer.” The scaled woman paused to listen to the rest of his words. “That man is an extremist of that belief, some races are better than others because of certain traits. I’ve come to realize that everyone harbors those feelings, whether expressed or not, to some extent. Although to say he wanted kill every one of my kind is an unforgivable act.” Aruna crossed her arms as she remembered the past event and her vow.
“Oh! Before that incident you were saying something, weren’t you? What was it,” the unique hostess asked. “As you know, I was a bit preoccupied at the time.”

"Oh, I was asking you what your race is called." FD told Aruna after he'd caught up t her and she's replied. "I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't know. Please excuse my ignorance. I'm actually dragon myself, although I suppose there's nothing to show I'm a dragon when I'm in this form. And... I came from a world where people like him were all too common. But things around here have been completely different in my experience. What he did was unforgivable, I completely agree. But he's the first person in Learania I've met who held sentiments like that." FD paused to consider whether Learania was really any better than any other world. "Have you encountered other people like him here?"

Aruna’s eyes widened when she heard FD utter the word dragon. In her world dragons were extremely rare. She had grown up to believe they only exist in legends, even though her own race was thought to be closely related to dragons. But here one was walking next to her. The scaled woman felt astonished.
“M-my race,” she began before clearing the lump from her throat. “I am a naga. Women of my species are also known as nagini.” At times her conscious bugged her when she admitted to her race and she didn’t know why. Like it was telling her that she should be ashamed for being naga.
As Aruna lowered her head, her red bangs covered her eyes. “Maybe the reason you have never experienced someone like him here is because you can easily blend in with the humans.” There was a hint of jealousy in her tone. “I get mistaken for those monstrous gorgons just because I have a serpent’s tail.” The orange-red nagini clenched her fists. “Do I have snakes for hair?! Have I turned anyone to stone?! NO! I’m nothing like those wicked demons!”

"That's terrible that those comparisons are made!" FD replied to the nagini. "I've had my fair share of accusations made about me for being a dragon, myself, but it's been centuries since I had to deal with anything like that. And just as you were saying, it happened to be during a time when I had the luxury of being in my natural dragon form regularly - a time before I had even experienced living in a body form like the one I'm in now." The Fire Dragon thought for a moment. To be fair, he'd certainly held his own prejudices of other races in life after what had happened to his people. But it was something one outgrows as one meets people of a race who in fact hold no prejudices. The fact that some people of a population are bigots and others aren't is arbitrary.
"But..." he continued, "I'd think people would be more open about their prejudices with me now precisely because they might not know I am what I am. You know? It's easier to talk down about someone when they're not there. And still I haven't ever seen someone behave like that man did in this place until today. Maybe the exception though."

When Sue had arrived near the border of Sentria, so tired that she wasn't even aware of the voices that were around her. Who was it... Vaida? Maybe. Her sights were fading now due to the sheer force of exhaustion.
She knew she couldn't accompany them after what she'd faced at that bandit fortress. Sue was not prepared for it.
In normal circumstances, nomads had other nomads to fight alongside them. This was the law of Sacae, all tribes, all members came together to fight invaders. Sue had the company of a Lycian Lord, a Dancer, a desert Halberdier and a nervous mage-turned-sage back when she fought Feo's goons. They were reliable, yes, certainly, but she couldn't expect them to have the same training as she did.
Because they weren't trained to fight in different terrain, Sue had the constant worry for them back then, feeling the obligation to keep the relatively 'untrained' (except for Deborah) safe. It had been part of what made her practically sleepwalking. After even being healed, she waved to the group at the border. It looked like she was headed back to Pentheus on Andre, whom was just as tired.
As soon as she did arrive, without even the strength to speak of goodbyes, Sue found a good inn and payed enough gold to finally rest after the ordeal. The night went by quick as they always did when one 'slept like a rock.'
The inn was nice enough to give her a simple breakfast, and as she munched a biscuit, she saw a note.
It was a brief summary that had told her of the events that went on in Eyris while she was away.... another reason to return, likely.
For a second, she remember the valiant ones on their way to Sentria... to rescue Amara. While Sue shut her eyes, she prayed. O, great Father Sky, great Mother Earth, bless them all who go into the desert... I must return to my homeland for now...
When the green-haired girl finished her food and went outside, she greeted Andre and released him from where he was tied up. Sue hated tying up her steed, but he'd otherwise cause trouble, and that wasn't a good reflection to give about nomads. After mounting her horse, she started going in solitude to Eyris, ready to help her father keep order in a land that was once filled with crazed people.
I'll make sure the brave warriors who went to Sentria have a home to come back to.
