"Waterpaw! Waterpaw!" Autumnpaw cheered along with the rest of the clan. He looked over at Cinderkit, wondering when her own apprentice ceremony would be, but he smiled and meowed, "I'm sure Waterpaw wouldn't mind if you helped her move into the apprentice den."

Cinderkit proudly puffed her chest. "I'm going to be a warrior." She stopped talking as Blizzardstar started, then cheered for Waterpaw. "It's so exciting! I can't wait until it's my turn", she told Autumnpaw over the chanting. She nodded thoughtfully as the apprentice made the suggestion to help Waterpaw move into the apprentice den.

"Alright then, let's wait for her to come by and then we'll help her." He meowed.

Cinderkit nodded and watched as Waterpaw was congratulated by the rest of the clan. Her heart swelled. She couldn't wait until her own apprentice ceremony.

════════════════════════════════════════ ━━━━━━━━━━━Echo━━━━━━━━━Female Warrior of LakeClan━━━━━━━━━Song━━━━━━━━━━━ ■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□In our darkest hour, in my deepest despair . . .Autumngaze guided me back out into the clearing then I saw Rainstorm sitting all by herself. I nudged Autumngaze with me to go sit next to her,
"Let's go give her company, she looks so lonely."
Autumngaze didn't have to ask me who I was talking about because he already had seen that I was meaning to talk about Rainstorm. When we sat by her Autumgaze said hello to her and listened to the meeting. My eyes went wide when I heard that Blizzardstar has chosen me to be Waterkit's-- I mean Waterpaw's mentor. Autumngaze nudged me toward the center of the clearing to where Blizzardstar and Waterpaw stood and I went forward to touch noses with my new apprentice.
Waterpaw said that he would make me proud as we touched noses, then I turned to the congratulatory LakeClan and my mate, Autumngaze. Autumgaze touched my nose with his, "Congrats, Echosong. Well, I guess this means I'll see a bit less of you." He said in a bit of a disappointed tone of voice. I pressed my muzzle into his flank,
"Don't worry, you'll still see me. Plus, you got some time to yourself for once."
He cheered up and his eyes filled with hope, "Yeah, you're right. Well, see you later," he flicked his tail as a gesture of a bidding of a temporary farewell. I turned to Waterpaw,
"Now that you're an apprentice, some of your tasks involve caring for the elders and those in the nursery, and to do those tasks you'll need to know where they are. Unless you know where they are, I'll go show you where the nursery and the elders' den, would you like me to show you now, or later?". . .Will you still care? Will you be there?■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□ ════════════════════════════════════════

(( It's fine, I was actually wondering what to do with either of my kitties after they said hello to Brackentail, I guess you read my mind and gave Echosong something to do. ))

((Okay. And Waterpaw's a girl.)) Waterpaw shook her head. "It's okay. I know where they both are, and where the moss is. I can also get the fresh-kill, as well. Blizzardstar taught me." She mewed.
Blizzardstar felt her cheeks grow red as she heard that Waterpaw had told Echosong that she had taught Waterpaw how to do all of that.

"Well, that saves us enough time to go train, has Blizzardstar shown to you the training area for apprentices?". . .Will you still care? Will you be there?■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□ ════════════════════════════════════════

Gingerpaw skulked lightly back to her den, bored as usual with the happenings of the clan. Little bits of half-chewed herbs sat around on various rocks and gave off a strong odor that could not be determined. She wondered, vaguely, where her mentor was, but the thought soon slipped from her mind as she busied herself with the medicines, alone and straining to see in the dark.

"Here, you go talk with Waterpaw, I'm going to have a word with Gingerpaw. Apprentice matters." Autumnpaw meowed shortly. He left Cinderkit and padded after the medicine cat apprentice.
"You may wish to clean up those herbs," he meowed. "So, have you been keeping the herbs in stock?"

Gingerpaw was a bit startled by Autumnpaw's sudden appearance, but after a moment, felt relieved not to be alone. Her mentor had been gone for too long.
"I am, though I could use some more yucca. It seems like this clan is growing clumsier every year." She rubbed her paw over a pile of crushed lamb's ear, feeling the soft juices moisturizing her sensitive pad.
She looked at Autumnpaw. "How are you?"

"I'm fine," he meowed shortly "I'll help you clean up, and we can gather yucca later. It grows year round in various places near the gorge."
Autumnpaw went over to a few rocks and swept his tail over it, gathering the bits of herbs into a neat pile. He glanced up at Gingerpaw, and flicked his ears, "I can't do it alone." He continued to sweep, keeping the salvageable herbs in one pile, and those that couldn't be used in another. As he cleaned he spoke to her.
"A medicine cat should have the den clean and tidy. It helps injured cats feel calm and safe. If a place looks hectic and unclean; how are they supposed to relax when they're worrying about whether or not you'll do a good job of healing them?" He paused. "I don't mean to sound bossy, just giving a bit of advice."

Cinderkit nodded as Autumnpaw walked away, then bounded over to Waterpaw. "Need my help?" Her eyes were flashing with excitement and eagerness. (Won't be on for a while. Dogmaster5 will play Cinderkit for me. Sorry about the short notice.)

"No offense taken," Gingerpaw mewed in return. She had been trying to clean, but the work load was just so heavy. "I've been working on it lately. I'd like to go look for yucca, and maybe we could pick up some other herbs as well. I have plenty to last the rest of this moon, but having extra never hurt anyone."
She turned and poked her own bedding with her paw. It felt matted, and, she decided, it was definitely time to clean.
