Lee gave the boy a very, very confused look, realizing something was up. Even she could see that her dad was trying to be around her mother more, and that was odd on its own. But with Rory glancing over and making all those weird expressions... She was more than a little curious. Still, she could appreciate the kisses, and grinned at his suggestion, picking up Ki Du and cuddling the little guy as she followed her boyfriend.
Mr. Katan just stood on the steps, not at all wanting to do as Rory had advised, but saw no other option. He waited there, feeling a bit lost at the moment, until his wife popped back out, changed, but certainly not dressed for sunbathing. Wait, wasn't it raining? She nodded to him, just barely acknowledging his existence, and walked past him and down the steps. He followed her out, watching as she set up a chair under the protection of the roof and lounged, seeming to find peace in the soft patter of rain hitting the deck a few feet away from her. Odd woman.

Once upstairs, Rory set the bags down then got Ki Du from Lee and gently tossed him on the bed, the pup clearly enjoying his few seconds of being airborne. The boy pulled her close, kissing her passionately as he shut the door then leaned her back against it, still kissing her. He hoped her parents would keep each other busy enough downstairs to give him and Lee some time alone.

Lee's eyes widened a bit as Rory started to kiss her, apparently not expecting him to get so into it so soon. At first, she let herself get a little drunk with Rory kisses, but eventually pushed him away, holding a hand to her mouth. "Uh-uh. First you tell me what all that downstairs was about." As much as it hurt, there would be no more kisses until then.
***
Mr. Katan couldn't help but smile at his wife, noting that she was now putting on sunglasses. She got stranger and stranger. He did as Rory requested, getting the drink and walking up to her, setting it beside her without a word. He rested his hands on her shoulders and did as he'd been told, though his face was still as uncomfortable as ever.
The woman took her glasses off, glancing up at her husband with total confusion. "What are you doing?"
"I could ask the same thing. You realize it's raining, don't you? I didn't realize I married such an odd woman." He chuckled a bit, his face softening now that he was speaking again.
"I'm odd? You're the one cavorting about the house trying to impress me with how gentlemanly you are. With Rory's help, of course. You should know that you're not Rory, and I'm thankful for that." She shook her head, looking off into the rain again. "You think I don't know what you're doing. You're not the seducing type, so you can stop." She shook her head, but didn't make any attempt at batting his hands away.
He laughed again, nodding. "That's what I was sure you'd say. You're very predictable."
The woman sat forward, glaring at her husband. "Predictable? Try predicting what I'll do next."
"Something unpredictable. Just to throw me off." He smirked down at his wife, even though she was anything but happy.
In an effort to prove him wrong, she stood, storming off into the house. That was pretty predictable, wasn't it?

Rory just chuckled. "Your da's tryin' t' light th' fire back in th' marriage. I think he's a bit wistful seein' us bein' so passionate. He misses it. Your mum is not exactly makin' it easy on him."

Lee gave Rory a displeased look. "That's stupid. And pointless. I've never, ever seen them get close. Not even when I was little." Sure, she felt a little bad for the man, but there was no reason to even try. She was sure her mother wasn't even in love with the man.
***
Mr. Katan rubbed at the back of his head, wondering if he should have just kept his mouth shut. He was having fun, though, talking to her as if they actually knew one another. He followed behind her, planning to apologize until he saw that she was headed for Lee's room. Eyes widening, he quickened his pace, stumbling up the steps after her. "Claudia! No, it's not his fault, I--"
She stopped half way down the hall, her face red with some kind of emotion. It was likely that only she would ever know she was blushing. "He has no right to interfere with our relationship. He can do what he wants to Lee, I don't care, but don't meddle with my life." She was yelling, both to Rory and her husband at the same time, hoping the boy could hear her.
He caught up to her, worry all over his face. "He only wanted me to get you that drink. You didn't even notice it." He gave an apologetic look in the direction of Lee's room.
"Honestly, Herbert. As if I'm really to believe you'd say something like you did out there. Making fun of me is what Rory does, not you." She was still speaking loudly enough for Lee and Rory to hear, not wanting this to be a private conversation at all.
Lee just slouched a bit at the voices in the hall, wondering if they realized they were right next to her door.

Rory frowned. "Maybe it's your mum tha' there's nae hope fae, but your da is more than willin'." He looked up at the voices and frowned even more. Moving away from Lee, he opened the door to glare at the two adults presently acting like children. He'd heard enough and he'd had enough.
"Oi, Claudia. Th' man is tryin' t' bring passion back t' your marriage, if there was e'er any t' begin wi'. I'm startin' t' wonder how you managed t' make Lee since you donnae like t' be touched. It amazes me tha' his sperm didnae freeze before managing t' find your egg from your poor body housin' such a cold heart. Why th' hell did you marry th' man if you donnae love him? Fae money? Fae your career? Your anniversary is comin' up. Either shut it and make out wi' th' man already, or divorce him an' let him hae a chance t' actually find someone who will love him. Donnae come up here pickin' fights wi' me, either, just 'cause your husband's so lovelorn thanks t' you suckin' th' life outta him, tha' he has t' ask a sixteen year old boy fae help with his failing marriage. Now shut th' fook up an' leave me an' Lee alone fae ten minutes." With that he slammed the door shut and stormed over to the bed to sit down, seething. Stupid Katans. He was sick of their bitterness and tired of what it was doing to him and Lee. Perhaps it was time to go home.

Lee laughed a bit -- before the craziness ensued -- finding it somewhat funny that the man was the one willing. Wasn't that how most marriages worked?
Mrs. Katan actually jumped a bit as the door slammed shut, relieved he had closed them off for the time being. She didn't really know what to say to that. She kept her focus on the door, not wanting to look at her husband just yet. She didn't care that Rory had called her "Claudia", or that he'd insulted her multiple times, or that he'd even bothered to mention divorce. She turned to face her husband, glare still present on her face. "So you were the one who called me predictable? Not Rory?" She cocked an eyebrow, hatred in her eyes.
"Well, yes, but I didn't think--" His words were cut off as the woman yanked his tie, forcefully dragging the man down the hall and to her bedroom. Was this predictable? Judging by her husband's expression, he didn't seem to think so.
***
Lee plopped down on the bed next to Rory, shrugging as she said, "You shouldn't care about them. Sounds like your scheme worked, anyway." Ugh. Old people sex. Made her want to throw up a little. She sighed, letting her hands rest in her lap, wondering why Rory cared so much. It didn't seem odd to her that she wasn't concerned by her parent's relationship.

"Sick o' them," Rory said quietly. "Either she's yellin' at me, or he's pesterin' me on how t' get her t' be more lovin'." He looked at Lee. "An' you're a product o' their crap, too. Why didnae you stand up fae yourself at dinner last night? Or when your mother barged in here after diiner or just now? I cannae keep fightin' your battles fae you, an' before you say I donnae hae t', yes, I do. I'm gonna be your husband an' I wonnae hae anyone, e'en your own mother, belittlin' you like tha', but I wonnae always be there an' you got t' not let people push you around like tha'."

Lee smiled with discomfort, feeling her throat tighten. She wasn't smiling on purpose, but she couldn't get herself to have any other expression. She shrugged, her only answer to his question so far, feeling like a child as she bit her lip and folded her legs onto the bed. "I dun consider it belittling, I guess," she answered pathetically, her voice barely a whisper. "Doesn't bother me as much as it bothers you. I'm used to it." She kept her eyes focused on her hands, knowing that if she let them wander they might tear up. It wasn't fun to have something negative about herself pointed out by the person she loved.

"Shouldnae be used t' it," Rory said softly, moving to sit closer to her so he could huge her against his side. "I donnae like seein' her pick on you just because she ain't happy wi' her life. It hurts t' see you just take it like tha'."

"I'm sorry..." she whispered, not moving to hug the boy just so she could keep her emotions under control. "I wouldn't let anyone I didn't know talk about me like that, though. I dunno, it's harder to stick up for myself when I want them to like me." Her eyes started to glare at her hands, upset with herself for being so weak.

"They already like you. They're your parents. It's sorta part o' th' package. Pretty sure people is required t' love whate'er squallin' breed creature they produce, you know," Rory said, leaning down so he could see her face. "Hey, love, donnae be sad. I ain't tryin' t' make you cry. I'm just worried about you."

Lee nodded, sighing deeply before turning to Rory, her eyes only slightly watery. "I wanna argue with you." The girl looked fairly determined, as if she'd already made up her mind that she'd be arguing with the boy. About what, she didn't know yet. Perhaps arguing over whether or not to argue would work. She preferred sticking up for herself behind the scenes by rebelling against her mother or proving the woman wrong. It wasn't the same as what Rory wanted, but it worked for her.

"Pretty sure this kinda counts as an arguement," Rory said, sort of confused. "An' you've argued wi' me plenty o' times. Why d'you wanna gae pickin' a fight now?"

Lee slouched forward, frowning. "But neither of us are angry. This is a really pathetic argument." She sighed, wishing it were a little more heated. That's what made good angry sex. That's what Sienna had told her, at least. At any rate, that wasn't her goal. "'Cause I can practice sticking up for myself if I get mad at you. And we'll be proving my mom wrong at the same time. Now insult me or something."
