Despite most of the statement not really clarifying anything for Hadrian, the idea of magic as another sense was one he DID understand. He'd spent alot of time figuring that sense out, and if you could light something on fire by just...feeling a certain way and focusing on it...then there was really no reason you couldn't weave fabric together. So he nodded, slowly, "And you've done alot of work with fabric already, right?"

"Yes, and some soft metals as well." The metals were actually easier to manipulate, since there was no weave to worry about, just solid masses that could be clumped together a bit like working with clay. "It's even possible to merge dissimilar materials together, but that takes more skill than I have."

Hadrian looked as though he was leaning forward slightly, grinning widely again now that the issue of understanding the concept had been resolved. "I've been wanting to trying to do things with fire and metal. I've seen a forge work, you know? It seems like you could do that with fire and heat and metal...somehow." He obviously hadn't quite worked out the details yet.

Simon bowed his head slightly, placed his newly-bonded cloth scrap back onto the little pile of samples, and retrieved the bundle. "With high dexterity you can mold metals without melting them. It's easier if the metal is warmer, though." Simon shrugged his shoulders. "I'm focusing my artificing on cloth and clothing, but I often have to mold metal pieces to serve as latches, or for decoration. It's not much, really, but you're welcome to come by and see what I've been doing. Perhaps with your forge experience you could even give me some suggestions."
It was a rather bold statement for Simon, and he wasn't sure why he was saying it as the words were leaving his mouth, but once it was said there was no way to take it back. Secretly he was rather eager to get some feedback on his collection from another feien, he just didn't realize it yet. There were some benefits to talking without thinking too much about it beforehand.

The fire feien's face lit up with enthusiasm. He'd never really had the chance to make anything with anyone else besides his bond, certainly not with any other feien. And Simon appeared to have quite an impressive mastery of processes Hadrian had never even thought of before. "I'd love to! I've never seen a feien sized work shop before."

"Well," said Simon, panicking mildly, "it's not really a workshop. It's just a room in the house I use to work." He frowned hopelessly.

"That's pretty much what a workshop is...I thought." Hadrian said, tilting his head to the side slightly. "My bond has an actual smith shop...but its all quite large, obviously." He wondered why Simon was frowning, and hoped he hadn't offended him somehow. "Ah, sorry...I can be a little overzealous..." He said, shrugging and smiling self conciously.

Simon let out a small sigh since it was obvious his point wasn't clear enough. "It's not feien-sized," he said, a tiny bit annoyed at himself, at Hadrian, and at his workshop. "It's just a room."

Hadrian seemed to draw back a little bit, looking at Simon with an expression very much like a confused puppy. "Sorry, I didn't mean to misinterpret you." He paused and then said tentatively, "I would really like to see how you work...if...that is, the invitation is still open?"

"Certainly," said Simon, then, sheepishly: "Maybe not today. It's a bit of a mess." He wrinkled his nose, causing his glasses to slip down a notch. Simon hastily reached up to correct them.

Hadrian brightened again, at the reassertion that he was indeed welcome to visit sometime. "Oh sure." He said cheerfully, "I don't really much like to go very far in the rain anyway."
He decided it was better not to point out what he immidiately thought, which was that workshops were sort of supposed to be messy. The last time he'd tried to make Simon feel better he'd managed to make things a bit worse.

Beyond the reach of the awning, the rain seemed to have given out, the clouds beginning to scatter. "Looks like the storm's over," noted Simon, double-checking his things.

"Oh good!" The fire feien said happily, peering out past the awning up at the sky. "I hope the sun comes all the way out soon. Things drip for the longest time after it rains, if it stays cloudy."

Simon stuck out a hand towards Hadrian and said earnestly, "It was a pleasure to meet you, Hadrian."

Hadrian took Simon's hand in one of his slightly over warm ones, and smiled, "You too Simon! I'm really looking forward to seeing your workshop." It was obvious that the answer was in absolute earnest.
