[They do. We can just have one of the classic "Flashback" prologues, where the scene sorta fades to white after a moment and the present day returns.]

((Yep. ^^ And since the other two have already given their consent, we can skip now. Yay! Woo! It's James' entrance!)) Two years later Aki, Hana, and James were in a small village, having just finished with a job."Thank you so much for helping us with our bandit problem," the village elder said to Aki."We are glad to help," Aki told him, smiling."If you ever have need of our services again, you know where to find us," Hana said, smiling as well."We'll always be willing to help," James assured him. After the man left, the three of them turned around and left the village. "It's only been two years, and we killed so many bandits," he said."Two years..." Aki said, sorrowfully.James noticed how sad Aki became all of a sudden. "Is something wrong?" he asked."No. It's nothing."((Note that James knows nothing of Aki's past at this point. Aki hasn't yet revealed his real identity.))

"No." the calm, deep voice of Bjorn rang out in the forge. "This wouldn't cut it in the real world, son. It's a good blade, but look here. See how the cross-section seems to push inwards a little? One strike there, and it would snap. You're getting close, but still needs a bit of work." he informed his student, a young boy of only about fifteen. He was holding a shortsword that the student had made in his forge. The young boy nodded and took the sword, returning to the furnace to heat up some more steel. Bjorn stepped outside the forge. It's rear wall was not a wall at all, but was instead open to the sprawling field behind the low stone building. He enjoyed it because it allowed for fresh air to come in and to cool the excessively hot forge down. He looked due West, toward where he knew, two years ago, he'd been part of a coup d'état aimed at Faren, the country he served for years as a military officer. He retired to this small village, trying to earn a living doing what his father did: blacksmithing. And he was known in the area for being quite the smith: many soldiers came to him to trade in their standard issue blades for something a little better, or to simply repair their weapons and armour. Princes, dukes, and Kings had come through here asking for ceremonial rapiers. Bjorn was living the high-life, as it were. But he still couldn't escape the fact that two years ago, he'd fled the castle. He had no choice: a huge contingent of enemy soldiers had gotten between him and the prince. He couldn't fight them, and after sustaining heavy wounds, had to jump from a second story window.

Kai took a step into the village. "Looks excessively modest," Kai mumbled "Did I get the directions right?" Regardless, Kai decided to take a look around the simple settlements. The city was East of the capital of Faren, where Kai and Bjorn, escaped from the invading army of Gailor two years back. After their endeavor, Bjorn had decided to take up the simple occupation of being a blacksmith. Kai, however, had other ideas. For the past two years, Kai had searched for any leads on the whereabouts of the Prince. King Gailor had made an official announcement of his death, but Kai knew better than that. However, his search has been, for the most part, less than fruitless. That was until recently. In the last few months, rumors of a group of mercenaries have been past around like a plague. The rumor states of a group who goes around, providing the justice and protection that King Gailor had failed to provide. At first Kai paid this no attention, regarding it as just a bunch of hotheads playing "hero." That was until another rumor reached his ears, that the leader of the said group had blue hair and bore striking resemblance to the "late" Prince. This stimulated Kai's drive and he set out to found this "blue-haired mercenary."But in order to do that, he would need some assistance. "And that is what brings me to this village," Kai finished. According to Bjorn, he said that he was planning on moving back to his village. Kai asked around for the smithy and it didn`t take him too long to arrive at the street where it resided. Upon seeing the big man standing in front of his domain, Kai hastened his stride.

Bjorn picked up a sword off the wall, one of many. They each had different designs, but all of the same general size. He'd been attempting to develop a better sword for the army, something better than the slab of steel they gave soldiers now. He was looking to make a short sword that was easy to produce, cheap to produce, and was able to be comfortably wielded by most soldiers, because the current blade had almost no balance to it. He held it up to the light, reviewing his latest design. Something flashed in it, and he noticed a figure walking toward the forge quickly. He looked out the window of the forge, recognition slowly kicking in. "Kai." he said simply. "It's been a while."

Yue piccked at her nails with a small throwing knife. War meetings were so very boring, it just meant more work for herself and her underlings. All this endless talk of this and that and the other thing...why couldn't they just send in a few of her students to take down some important figures and take over during the chaos?
But, as a woman she was to keep quiet during the meetings and observe. Whatever.

"Indeed it has, Bjorn," Kai greeted, bowing his head slightly. "But I'm afraid catching up would have to wait. I bring news."
Kai glanced up and down the road, and seeing no one suspicious, stepped into the Bjorn's dwelling. Closing the door behind him, Kai scanned the inside. Aside from the a young man battering a miss happened piece of steel, no one beside themselves were in the modest house. Pulling Bjorn out of the apprentice's earshot, Kai hastily whispered "I've found a lead on the Prince! It turns out he didn't die on that day!"

"What!?" Bjorn said in a hoarse whisper, looking at Kai like he was crazy. He knew Gailor would never have let anyone survive: he had gone on a witch-hunt from the prince, sending out huge amounts of troops across the country side, combing, searching. He had been lucky to survive, as was Kai...but how did the prince survive, if at all? "How?" he asked.

"I don't know how he had survived, my divination are a little....messy when it comes to the Prince," Kai shrugged. "But the point is that recently, there had been a rumor being tossed about; claiming a group of mercenaries, led by the so called late Prince, is crusading through the countryside, offering protection to villages." Kai shuffled towards a nearby table, and withdrew a piece of folded parchment from his robe. Laying out the piece of paper, it turned out to be a map of Faren. Kai motioned for Bjorn to look. "I've tracked these rumors via traveling merchants, asking them where they had heard these rumors. Most claim that they have heard it from the villages...here....here......and here." Kai's finger pointed to various settlements along the Northern border of Faren. "From this we can conclude that the group operates along the fringes of Faren," Kai continued, eyes intent on the map. "But here are some peculiar things I've noticed. I've tracked the achievements of this group," Kai said, withdrawing from the table. "They've helped many villages along that border, ridding unaccountable numbers of bandits for the last year. But the jobs they do, are all along that border. I mean ALL of them." Kai took out a few red stones and started plopping them down on the map. The stones formed a line, almost symmetric to the Northern Border. "The stones mark the approximate area that this group accepts jobs in. As a standard mercenary group, one would move deeper into the country as they gain more renown; For that is where the real wealth is. This group however, seems to be satisfied with jobs in the North. The reason, I believe, for this is that they are AVOIDING the capital; In other words, they are avoiding King Gailor."
((I think we should give the Capital of Faren a name xp Getting tedious to refer to it as "the capital of Faren" every time stressed Stefis would you please? ))

((Um...How about....Kyaro? I can't think of anything else. sweatdrop ))
The three mercenaries soon arrived at the small fort they used as a base. It was wooden and, because of this, it had been abandoned years before the invasion. No one wanted a wooden fortress because a fire could easily destroy it. Aki and Hana had decided it would be the perfect place for a prince in hiding. No one would expect Prince Akihiko to hide out in a place such as this. As soon as they got there, James ran off. Aki paid little attention to James as he left and looked up at the sky. "It's almost time...for Gailor to pay for what he's done," he whispered just loud enough for Hana to hear.

((I don't know how to bring my new guy in, but I'll still post with Aki and the others.))
"Should we tell James who you are?" Hana asked, looking at the fort. "Not yet. The time is not quite right. We cannot risk the news that I am alive reaching Gailor. If he were to find out where we are, I have no doubt he'll send his entire army here to kill me, possibly even coming himself. We can't risk it." Aki lowered his gaze as James ran out of the fort. "What's keeping you?" he asked cheerfully. "Come on! We have tons of jobs lined up!" "We're coming!" Aki assured him. Then the three of them walked into the fort. "So where's the next one?" Hana asked. Aki picked up a piece of paper on the table in the briefing room and looked over it. "We are going to Tinto, just a little east of here. The village has recently been plagued by bandits from the mountains of Gailor." "Okay. To Tinto, then." The three of them then left the base and headed east to Tinto.
((Note that Gailor is to the north of Faren. ^^))
