yeah, just take it with a grain of salt. considering I don't remember there being an "Alice" character in the first game..all things considered, though, they tried to stay somewhat true to the game, but it's hollywood so they can be "liberal" with the story ya know?
it's still worth the watch IMO...

oh, by the way, finally saw Ong Bak. lucky for me, I can understand Thai cause I wasn't foturnate enough to get a subbed version. sweatdrop
anyhow, the movie had a decent plot, but the action scenes were mostly, very good...atleast the fight physics weren't that horrible.
besides, any movie where Muay Thai is depicted as the badass style it is gets an A+ in my book.. ^_^..bit biased, but whatever. xp

stare I'ma ignore that.

oh, wait..I can't. sweatdrop I just read in this month's Inside Kung Fu, Van Damme is in the process of taking open casting call for martial artists of all shape, size, and style. turns out he's casting for his new movie "Kumite" I can only assume this like Bloodsport part 2 or some such.
I...just can't get my head around the whole Van Damme pretending to be a martial artist. confused last I checked, he never had any formal training, or held a belt in anything..correct me if I'm wrong.

I've heard that he does have green belt in some style. As far as training, he did put the work in on the fight scenes he's done. I'll give him credit there.

the thing that gets me though is I've had training in Muay Thai, and I can't figure out what that guy's style was. I mean, there was alot of Muay Thai elements, but the posing and some of the flashier moves, I can't quite place. confused going by the accent though, he's a Northern Thai. maybe they train differntly than us southerners..

I did a bit of nosing around, and it seems as though the moves used by the main character in the movie are in fact based on the ancient art of muay boran, or something to that effect.

http://www.bangkokpost.net/education/site2003/ftfb1103.htm

I know even less about this than I know about Muay Thai. But I'm guessing that since the art is quite ancient, there'd be move sets one wouldn't normally see in modern Muay Thai.

I've heard of muay boran before, but only in passing. time to google-fu it!
