Well that is more fantasy then most of the stuff I know. I would prefer to use the D&D term for the half dragon, yet again basing it off a game... ninja

Well in D&D, you would have possible wings, scaly hide instead of skin, talons and fangs, and horns. You would also have a breath attack. It also isn't limited to just humans. I have heard (and played next to) a Half dragon Centaur with wings.

Well that is just my opinion. However he might be taking his half dragon from the book The Last Dragonlord by Joanne Bertin. This kind of a 'half dragon' isn't really what you would expect it to be. It is a human with a dragon's soul attached to it like a symbiote soul. The dragon tends to remain dormant, and allows the human to use its form as they want to (in the book they were sometimes referred to as Weredragons). They would also live a long life, and when the human tires of the world, the dragon half would take over. This story also has what is called a soul twin, the dragon's mate in another humans body. Very rarely would the dragon half posses the human body before asked to.

Well that is my opinion on the subject, and you can either throw it all aside, or use pieces of it for your own form of the half dragon.

@Phaeton:
Remove his post.
We can keep the deities
but he's not allowed to rp them
and they're only to be used as NPCs by the moderators

@Nathien + Sewn:
If we're going to have half dragons we're going to need weaknesses
bring me a balanced species and we can use them

@Snow + FPS + Colm:
I really liked all the deities that I saw.
Now your second steps would be to create a temple for each of them
why?
because how else is a deity supposed to be worshiped?
It doesn't necesarily have to be in the area where they have power
but somewhere nearby
Have a picture or a good description
don't forget to put down how each accepts sacrifices in the temple
Like...do they need a blood offering?
A sweet fruit?
Flowers?
We need to know

WTF is a Miko?

Actually about that...

Alchemists
Illusionists
Seers
Summoners
Necromancers
they all sort of fall under wizardry and sorcery
I'll try to throw them in there though.

And I wouldn't worry too much about racial weaknesses. There aren't even really that many that have true strengths. I'm still drawing from D&D but Demons actually suck at hand to hand combat. They have good reflexes but most of them are crap if they don't have claws or a weapon. A couple of them that have claws still suck, and they better pray they don't run into a paladin.

Hell for most classes you're probably better off just rolling a Human. Only take some other race for high STR melee classes.

The reason dragons didn't have any real weaknesses is because the piled on Level adjustments make it damn near impossible to play them in a campaign. As a note, a half dragon centaur is a level adjustment of +5. Though in hindsight most of those level adjustment systems were actually debilitating unless the creature had hit die of its own. Even those were just wasted where class levels could have been. The only good racial hit die are Undead and Dragon. Though being undead kinda bites. I'm off on another tangent though.

They are all magic related
but they're specialties
that's like saying all artists are the same
but they aren't. THere's...
sculptors
storyboard artists
portraits
still life painters
photographers
comic artists
etc.

And I see your point about the D&D stuff and why they don't have that many true strengths
but I've rp'd with plenty of people who spam demons
make them extremely strong and agile and that's without any weapons or claws
they'll super punch your organs out

Well, all artists work toward a similar goal. And over here we get stuck with one encompassing diploma with a footnote for concentration. lol

I wouldn't worry too much about super punching demons. Most people just kinda turn those overpowering strikes into a slap on the wrist when they react anyway.

Well one downfall of the Weredragons (I'll use this term for them) was that they needed the room to change. Well first let me get into how they change. From human, they emit a bloodred 'fog' or 'mist' from them that would encompass the area that their dragon form would consume, then it solidifies into that of the dragon form. If something penetrated the fog or mist, then that character dies right there. Also it saps strength from the human to do so, and they can only change forms a few times a day (as in dragon and back) and it also tells then if they are getting weak or sick (yes, they do still get sick). Also, they tend to go a little crazy about their soultwin. Like very protective, and if the soultwin dies, then the other weredragon would commit suicide. Only the strongest of will could possibly survive such a traumatic event as that. In the human form, they are faster and stronger then the normal human and live longer, but have nothing else from their dragon half. In dragon form, they have all the dragon's normal abilities. Any weredragons are determined from birth. The ability doesn't awaken until later in life, normally in the adult stage, and they can't have children with humans. Also, they all have a marking, something abnormal for the human race. Like a birth mark, six fingers, different colored eyes, short or tall, the list goes on.

((PS: that centaur halfdragon, had a str of 34, and a ton of health from the bonus die (4d10 racial hit die (+6 to base constitution) then first level die from Class (plus more constitution))

okay, i'm guessing this means we want to add these
Now, if you want them, do you want them to go under lycanthropes like the other were-things or just create a whole different thing like half dragon or dragonborn? I really don't care either way, just which ever you think fits what you want more. These sound much more reasonable and as long as woven doesn't disagree, then I'll put it up or edit the posts or whatever.

So far Colm is the only seer we've had and he didn't get visions too often, after He dies and is replaced I am hoping that this ability will be magnified into one of the children therefore giving us a liaison to the deities... yay for children

And i am in the process of making more deities

^Untrue. Maryl worked as a traveling oracle before she moved into Kel's place. She actually used that ability to keep tabs on a few people.

Also, in hindsight I start to get the feeling that listing so many specifics might cripple creativity.
PostPosted: Wed Sep 23, 2009 3:42 pm

True, why didn't I think of that??

I went ahead and made the deity of creation based off of the Hindi god of creation... mainly because i just read half of this series of vampire books were Krishna (the Hindi god of creation) was roaming around the earth 5000 years ago and such before going to the heavens. He's very trickery which is why Ashe and Colm will die razz

And I had no idea about Maryl razz

Note to self start thinking of a character profile for the heir

Let's just have them take the sword and go home already...bleh. It's taken 4 months now it seems like

@Phae:
It might cripple creativity a little bit
but if you tihnk of it this way, we're also giving insight to new ones
how many people rp as human?
normal humans?
most of them
this might give some of them the chance to be like
"I can be that? Sweet!"
That's how I've been in rps in the past because I just wont' think of whatever it is I just saw out there

but i told myself i'm not going to make one until i finish the species...

So heres my plan for the whole Colm and Ashe dieing thing.
So Krishna is the god of creation and he likes to be mischievous, so we call upon him and ask him to create the heir yadada he ends up making them but killing us to do so biggrin
That way we both die!

Well, just don't go overboard with the pantheon. We have a very small number of followers anyway.
