I didn't even notice that space travel comment. I agree, axe it with all due haste.
And some "humor of that variety" might be exactly what the scene needs. pirate
Also, if Sylvian says "JAD, say something, she's apologizing!", why would she immediately afterward say "Only a girl? You sure? Looks like a guy to me."

Thaddeus Grimlock I'm loving the story so far but i noticed something that disturbed me a bit.
one line is SYLVIAN: “First of all, I want information. I know the Pirates of the Purple
Wing have contacts throughout space.”
This is steampunk and yes theres all sorts of awesome steam powered vehicles and devices but its still set in the victorian era. I think that space travel doesnt seem at home in steampunk.
Sorry to moan so heres a smiley :{| I must have missed that one in the review... it should mean something like they have contacts all around the world.

<. And as for the comment, 'only a girl'... Well, Lynn is a girl, but she's dressed as a guy. Undercover and all. So, I wanted to make it apparent that due to Jad's worldly-ness he's learned to look past the disguise of others. I will be using this trait later. The comment is also a cue for the artists to remember NOT to make the character too girly in appearance.
And that Jad pretty much has a low opinion of anyone other than himself. XD Not that he disrespects girls... as mentioned in the dialogue later, he's done others wrong... thus if it's a guy, Jad's much more likely to get in more trouble. <.<
I did some other fixes to that part as well. I caught that I had Sylvian say "She's apologizing!" so I fixed that to 'he's' and had Jad react.

INT. THEATER – STAGE
(* Myles thinks Lynn is a guy. Keep that in mind all.)
Myles stands in behind the line of captives, isolated, but not completely alone.
Lynn stands behind him, in pirate costume hand still on his shoulder.
LYNN :: whispers :: “Just calm down. It’s part of the show.”
MYLES: “Oh. Well that’s good to know.”
Lynn starts at his voice and whirls him around.
LYNN: “You… you were... a woman before, weren’t you? You were with that other guy!”
Myles frowns and impulsively brushes off his shirt front.
MYLES: “Excuse me? No. That other woman left not too long ago. I happened to meet my friend there in the intermission.”
Lynn studies him. Something clicks. She smiles at him.
LYNN: “Ah… then I apologize. Are you calm enough to join in the act upstage now?”
MYLES: “Do I have to?”
LYNN: “You ARE my captive. I’d hate to disappoint the Director…”
MYLES: “Fine. If I have to.”
LYNN: “Tell you what. I’ll treat you to a drink later as an apology.”
Myles looks at her suspiciously.
MYLES: “As long as it’s ONLY a drink. No funny business, fella.”
LYNN: “Of course. And the name’s Stephen Pyrite.”
MYLES: “Myles Million.”
LYNN: “Pleasure.”
Lynn grins and pushes Myles forwards into the now half-gone line, and re-joining the actors.
LYNN: “ANOTHER CAPTIVE TO SACRIFICE TO THE SKIES AS PUNISHMENT FOR REBELLING!”
Myles looks around at the other actors, ‘paranoid’.
MYLES: “Wait… WHAT?!”
Lynn smiles and pushes Myles to the edge of the stage.
LYNN: “A promise is a promise…”
She shoves Myles offstage and down a hole in the floor.
MYLES: “GAHHHHHH!”
He lands on a mat, five feet below the hole.
He sits up, somewhat dizzy.
MYLES: “Never again… ugh.”
There’s LAUGHTER from above. He gets off the mat and looks around.
JAD: “Pst, Myles!”
Myles turns towards the sound and finds Jad in the doorway, grinning.
JAD: “That was quite an entrance. I almost thought it was Sylvian again.”
MYLES: “You… Shut up.”
He walks through the door, ignoring Jad.
JAD: “Hey, it was just a joke.”
MYLES: “If YOU woke up and found yourself surrounded by pirates and then brought up to be pushed through a hole… would YOU appreciate such a joke?”
JAD: “Hrm, that depends on the pirates... Anyways, let’s go to the Top Flight for some food. Audience participation really takes it outta me.”
He walks off.
Myles remains rooted to the floor, more than a little insulted. He listens to the cheering above and shudders.
Seconds later he follows after Jad.
THEATRE
In the top-most balcony in the theatre, sits the Captain of the Anachron, CAPTAIN S. COCHRANE, the well dressed mastermind of the Anachron. Beside him sits SILAS ‘KHAOS’ Ebonheart, a well to do, government official.
SILAS: “Quite the play, eh sir.”
COCHRANE: “It’s okay. Just needs a little… something extra.”
SILAS: “Something… extra?”
Captain Cochrane nods and stands, flinging his cape dramatically behind him.
Silas looks up at him, amused.
SILAS: “Mind you leave me out. I’m much more comfortable where I can reach my purse(wallet) to pay for any damages.”
COCHRANE: “If you say so. But you really should learn to have a little more fun, Silas. Isn’t your nick name, ‘Khaos?’
SILAS: “Only because I seem to follow after it like a mechanic after a faulty parade float.”
COCHRANE: “… But that float WAS repaired, if I remember correctly.”
SILAS: “Yes… but you can never tell how good a job a common mechanic will do.”
Captain Cochrane smiles as Silas pushes his chair back from the balcony.
Captain Cochrane stands at the edge of the balcony, watching as the last ‘captive’, a woman is put in place at the edge of the stage.
COCHRANE: “HAVE NO FEAR YOUNG LADY! I WILL SAVE YOU FROM THOSE FIENDS!”
He pushes a button under the rail and the balcony detaches. It starts to fall, but then catches on a wire and slides down, high above the crowd, towards the Stage.
Lynn watches the balcony, dumfounded as the other pirates smirk and elbow each other.
COCHRANE: “NO PIRATES IN THE RIGHT MIND WOULD TRY ANYTHING WHEN I’M AROUND!”
The balcony lands just about the hole in the floor below the stage.
Captain Cochrane reaches out his hand and pulls the woman into the balcony.
He steps out, and takes out a sword and points it at Lynn.
CAPTAIN COCHRANE: “Now, pirate. FIGHT me!”
-----
SPI mentioned the usage of 'purse' with Silas, so I offered the other choice of 'wallet' up there. Mind you it's purse like 'change purse', not a woman's hand bag. 'Purse' seems more hmm... rich-gov type, and I thought it fit with the setting.
Of course, I will give the creator first pick of word, or something different.

Uh, I think I’ve been going back and forth using ‘auditorium’ and ‘theater’, so that’ll be taken care of in later edits… i.e. probably not by me. Long part, and more stage time for Captain Cochrane... and a few other un-named characters who hardly matter, but I happen to like them. <3
THEATER STAGE
Captain Cochrane shuffles a few steps forward, menacingly.
Lynn stares in shock, quite unable to recover.
Captain Cochrane leans forward and puts a hand to his mouth.
COCHRANE: (whispering) “Psst… it’s for the show, just play along!”
Lynn nods and robotically raises her sword with a tense smile.
LYNN: (whispering, mostly to herself) “I’m not well versed in swordplay…”
Captain Cochrane smirks and valiantly knocks the sword out of her hand with a metal sounding THWACK.
Cochrane: (to the audience) “Not even a threat!”
The audience APPLAUDS some giving standing ovations.
Other pirate actors jump into gear and surround Captain Cochrane, pointing their swords at him.
PIRATE 1: “But we ARE a threat, dear captain!”
PIRATE 2: “No town can stand against our power! We shall rule the skies!”
The pirates advance on Captain Cochrane, who smiles grimly.
He fights back all who come near with skillful dodges and swipes.
The man in stage clothes flips another CARD, from his position on the stage: WE FIGHT FOR OUR REBIRTH, EVEN AS THE ENEMY FIGHTS FOR OUR DEATH. BUT JUST WHEN ALL SEEMS LOST, THERE WILL BE A TRIUMPH!(alt: MIRACLE!)
There’s an EXPLOSION from atop one of the buildings in the town backdrop. The MAD SCIENTIST appears with goggles over his eyes and a smile on his face!
MAD SCIENTIST: "Your tools of war are no match for… SCIENCE!"
He raises his hand and holds up a REMOTE CONTROL.
Captain Cochrane looks up and applauds.
The audience joins in Captain Cochrane’s applause as the Mad Scientist presses a button on the remote control.
There’s a RUMBLING.
A Mechanical cart, otherwise known as a CLOCKWORK TANK rumbles on stage with steel rods on top and guns aimed at the pirates.
There’s a FLASH of the lights, symbolizing lightning, and there’s a SPARK from the top of the Clockwork Tank.
Lights travel down it, and the guns fire.
A few of the pirates fall on the spot.
Lynn meanwhile has recovered and picked up her sword.
She approaches Captain Cochrane, sneaking up behind him quietly and using the remaining pirates for cover.
LYNN: (Under her breath) “You think something like that would scare pirates? Hah!”
She crouches low and rushes forward from behind the group of remaining pirates.
Just as she’s about to strike, Captain Cochrane turns around as if expecting her.
He points his sword at her and stares down the length of it at her.
COCHRANE: “So you’ve recovered. Back for more, or, have you had enough!”
Lynn lowers her head, hiding her face in shadow.
Her hands tremble, but her expression is one of resentment.
LYNN: “I… I…”
She hands the sword handle first to him and looks up in humility.
LYNN: “Surrender.”
The audience erupts in CHEERS.
The woman rescued by Captain Cochrane jumps out and clings to him.
The Mad Scientist hurries down and stands by his Clockwork Tank.
The man in stage clothes flips a last card: THE COURAGE AND MINDS OF THE BRAVE WILL ALWAYS WIN THE DAY. FINI.
Captain Cochrane bows, and turns to find Lynn, but she is gone.
MEANWHILE…
AT THE TOP FLIGHT GRILL
There’s not a lot of people there besides Myles and Jad. TWO SERVERS loiter around the bar chatting, one of them playing with an OLD RADIO.
SERVER 1: (looks up from fiddling with the radio) “You think we’ll be able to skip out early for the parade?”
SERVER 2: “Nah. It’ll pass right out front, meaning more business.”
SERVER 1: “All the better if I can get this thing to work…”
Server 1 frowns and fiddles with a KNOB. A little sound comes out, but it crackles. He hits it with his palm, and it altogether stops.
SERVER 2: “Give it up. You just aren’t good at those things.”
SERVER 1: “Yeah… but..” He looks fondly at the radio.
Just then Myles walks up to the bar and picks up a drink menu.
SERVER 2: “Anything you’d like, Sir?”
MYLES: “Something to take away my headache…”
SERVER 1: “I know just the thing!”
Server 1 rushes off.
Server 2 takes out a glass and starts polishing it.
SERVER 2: “They say calming music helps too, but unfortunately our radio’s busted.”
MYLES: “Oh, is that so? Lemme take a look at it…”
He moves to the Old Radio and removes a SCREWDRIVER from a case in his pants pocket. He unscrews the back and fiddles with it.
MYLES: “Loose wires… you disconnected something.”
SERVER 2: “Ah, probably happened when he thumped it.”
Myles looks up, aghast.
MYLES: “Well even though I'm up for giving things a good thumping every now and then, it's not the only way. It's kinda like how the say violence isn’t the only answer…”
SERVER 2: “Unless you’re a pirate.” He smirks.
Myles shakes his head and goes back to work.
Server 1 returns and almost drops Myles’s drink.
SERVER 1: “Ah! My radio!”
SERVER 2: “He’s fixing it. And doing a much better job of it than you.”
Server 1 recovers and sets the drink down.
SERVER 1: “Ah, thanks then.”
Myles nods and puts the radio back together again.
He turns it on, and light tunes play.
Server 1 and 2 clap appreciatively as Myles puts away his tools.
MYLES: “Drink’s on you then?”
SERVER 1: “Ah… er… why not.”
Myles picks up his drink, raises it in a ‘cheers’ and heads back to Jad with a self satisfied smile.
JAD: “What was that about?”
MYLES: “Got my first free drink of the night.”
JAD: “First? And you call that a drink? Looks more like mineral water.”
Myles eyes the glass and shrugs.
MYLES: “An actor from the play promised me a drink for going through all that nonsense earlier.”
Jad leans forwards, incredulous.
JAD: “What? When did this happen?”
MYLES: “Probably around the time you were being made the ‘walk the plank’.”
JAD: “Eh. Well, maybe I can get in on it as well. Anyway…”
He leans back.
JAD: “So as I was saying, Sylvian made a wicked deal with the Pirates of the Purple wing. So they’re off collecting some date on Aether in exchange for getting them a new part.”
Myles shakes his head and drinks some of his mineral water.
MYLES: “And you fit into this little deal how?”
JAD: “Oh, she said they couldn’t kill me until they brought back the info… apparently I’m suppose to be gathering information too, and the sooner the better.”
MYLES: “Then shouldn’t you…y’know… get GOING on that?”
Jad sips his drink.
JAD: “You forget the fact that the Cops are all out due to the Pirates BEING here and the festivities going on. I’ll head out soon enough… on my own time.”
MYLES: “Yes. The sooner the better. I always find myself going through unnecessary tribulations when you’re around, Jad.”
The music on the radio is suddenly interrupted.
ANNOUNCER: “IF I MAY HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE. THE PARADE WILL BE SLIGHTLY DELAYED DUE TO THE UNEXPECTED EXCITEMENT FROM THE MOB LEAVING THE THEATER. OFFICERS ARE NOW CALMING THE MOB WITH THE HELP OF CAPTAIN COCHRANE. A NEW TIME FOR THE PARADE WILL BE ANNOUNCED AS SOON AS WORD ARRIVES FROM THE PARADE COMMITTEE.
Server 1 lets out a low whistle.
SERVER 2: “Well, I say we lock the doors until everything has calmed down.”
Server 2 walks over to the door.
Jad raises his drinks in a ‘cheers’ to Myles.
JAD: “Un-necessary tribulations, you said?”
MYLES: “Well… maybe this one time doesn’t count so much, but the rest of them sure do.”

Normally I'd refrain from such words, but having Lynn say 'crap' was mainly for psychobunnyfire. <.< Just seemed to fit the character too.
Ok... that was one warning. Other warning is for the cliffhanger.
EXT: THEATER
Captain Cochrane stands atop a roof opposite the theater, frowning down at the crowd.
Cochrane: “ATTENTION ALL CITIZENS OF ANACHRON! WE APPRECIATE THE ENTHUSIASM, BUT IF THE WAY ISN’T CLEARED, THE PARADE WON’T BE ABLE TO GET THROUGH!
Silas sits just off to the side of Captain Cochrane, looking at his watch and casts an eye down the street.
SILAS: “Yeah… and much of those floats are rentals. We’ll have to pay extra if we go over time.”
Captain Cochrane looks down at him and frowns.
Cochrane: “Just pay extra for it then. It’s for the people, you know.”
Silas SIGHS dramatically.
SILAS: “Yes, yes I know. I wish you’d thought your actions through… I know people like to be a part of things, but sometimes I think you-“
COCHRANE: “That’s it!”
Captain Cochrane looks around and oddly enough, happens to spot Lynn directly across from him in her pirate costume reaching the main street from a side alley.
He makes a complicated set of hand gestures to get her attention, but fails.
Finally Captain Cochrane leans forwards and cups a hand over his mouth and points to her with the other.
COCHRANE: “YOU! PIRATE! COME HERE AT ONCE! OUR BUISNESS ISN’T FINISHED YET!”
Lynn freezes and looks up at Captain Cochrane.
LYNN: “…crap.”
Lynn turns and runs back down the alley.
Captain Cochrane stares, confused.
He turns to Silas.
COCHRANE: “Go get him!”
SILAS: “What?”
COCHRANE: “That pirate, that actor! Get him, I need him!”
Silas carefully studies the crowd below, bewilderedly looking around.
There are shouts of ‘PIRATE!”
SILAS: “Ah… and why don’t YOU go?”
COCHRANE: “A Captain never abandons his post. My people need me here to guide them.”
He leans closer to Silas.
COCHRANE: “And I told YOU to go.”
Silas startles and halfway falls down a nearby ladder perched against the roof.
SILAS: “Fine fine…”
He heads off, pushing through the chaotic crowd.
SILAS: “LET ME THROUGH! I MUST GET THAT PIRATE!”
Somehow, his voice catches on. Cries of ‘GET THAT PIRATE’ echo through the streets.
As Silas enters the alley, he turns and suddenly finds a rush of people behind him.
SILAS: “Um… no thanks, I don’t need any help. You see, the Captain insisted that I…”
The crowd yells louder; ‘GET THAT PIRATE!’
He runs down the alley, and is pulled through the stage door seconds before the small crowd tramples him.
INT: THEATER, BACKSTAGE
Silas breathes out a sigh of relief and turns to thank his rescuer. He finds the Director.
SILAS: “Ah… Thanks.”
DIRECTOR: “You, young man, were doing something quite dangerous!”
SILAS: “Well, when Captain Cochrane has an idea…”
DIRECTOR: “Oh? Really? Anything We can help with?”
The Director motions behind to other actors and the Stage Hand behind her.
SILAS: “Well… I dunno. I think it had something to do with clearing the way for the parade and I mentioned people being a part of things and he just…”
Silas shakes his head dismally.
The Director perks up and grabs Silas by the shoulders and then embraces him briefly in a hug.
Silas blushes and pushes himself away, and checks his money purse.
DIRECTOR: “Fear not, young man! I have just the idea!”
The Director smiles mischievously.
Silas’s eye twitches.
SILAS: “Well at least tell me FIRST so we don’t end up running off and starting another mini riot.”
Something about his words bothers him. He suddenly looks worried and turns back to the door.
SILAS: (Under his breath) “I wonder if… nah, it’ll be okay.”
He turns back and is pulled immediately into a huddle by the Director.
DIRECTOR: “NOW, let’s get down to business.”
MEANWHILE…
EXT: THEATER
Captain Cochrane watches the small mob run off down the alley way, leaving the others to mill about and gradually turn towards him, questioningly.
COCHRANE: “EVERYTHING, IS OKAY. JUST HEAD TO YOUR ORIGINALLY PLANNED DESTINATIONS. THE PARADE SHOULD START SHORTLY!”
A few listen to him, but the others remain, shouting up at Captain Cochrane excitedly: ‘Long live Anachron!’ ‘Long live our brave Captain!’
COCHRANE: “Hopefully Silas is okay…”
Seconds later the Stage Hand leads a small group off pirates out and they immediately get to work managing the crowd.
For the most part, the crowd obeys, and those that don’t get pulled into the middle of the street as sacrifices.
Captain Cochrane looks on in wonder, half worried until he sees Silas running up the street giving the OK sign.
He looks back towards the theater, where the Director is leading a group of rebels out.
The Rebels immediately start doing battle with the pirates holding the captives.
COCHRANE: “FIGHT ON, ANACHRON! AND WE SHALL BE LEAD TO VICTORY!”
Slowly the sacrifices are returned to the excited, and attentive crowd.
The Rebels and Pirates put on a show for the people as Silas starts the first parade float down the street.
Captain Cochrane scans the group of actors and frowns.
COCHRANE: “Where is…”
His eyes go back to the alleyway.
COCHRANE: “Hmm… I better look into this.”
Captain Cochrane hurries down from the roof and threads his way through the crowd and starts off down the alley way in a big hurry.
MEANWHILE
EXT. STREETS OF ANACHRON
Lynn Merryweather aka Steven Pyrite runs down the alleyway, as if for her life.
With the mob running after her, it seems like it is.
The Crowd cries out after her: “GET THE PIRATE!”
She runs down another street, looking back. Her image suddenly shifts into a younger version, more boyish and wearing worn, plain clothing.
FLASHBACK:
Lynn, barely a teenager runs with a parcel under her arms.
A few people run after her, shouting: “THIEF!” “SCUM!” “COME BACK HERE!”
Lynn grits her teeth.
LYNN: (softly)”I can’t… not if I want to survive here.”
END FLASHBACK:
Lynn runs down the alleyway, herself again in full Pirate costume, smiling wanly.
LYNN: (softly) “Seems like it always ends up like this…”
The crowd gets closer to her.
Lynn finally runs out of breath and slows, turning into another alleyway.
Only this one is a dead end.
The people follow her and she ends up blocked in.
LYNN: (to herself) “I’ll have to remind myself to tell Captain Cochrane how little I appreciated this when I see him next.”
She clenches her hands into fists and wearily rests herself against the wall.
LYNN: “You know… that I’m merely… an actor… right? N.. not really a Pirate?”
She feels herself flush a little at the lie.
The Crowd stares at her. One man steps out. His name is THADDEUS GRIMLOCK. For the most part he looks completely normal, but from the look in his eyes, at this moment, he’s not quite in his right mind in all the excitement.
THADDEUS: “The Captain said to get you. But he didn’t say alive.”
The Crowd cheers.
LYNN: “Ah… that was for the PLAY. Yes, the PLAY! This isn’t the play now. I’m just a man, same as you!”
She flushes again, and seems confused, not knowing why THAT lie should make her react so.
Lynn straightens her costume and her hand brushes against the hilt of her pirate sword. A prop. Or is it?
The action is enough to entice Thaddeus.
THADDEUS: “I shall bring you in… pirate!”
He draws a sword, and starts towards her.
LYNN: “No… you see, my name is STEVEN PYRITE! I’m a quartermaster of a prestigious ship and currently stationed here to…”
She trails off as she realizes they aren’t listening.
Lynn frowns and ruefully draws her sword. There’s only one thing she can do.
LYNN: (to herself)“This better work…” (to Thaddeus) “And you, Rebel, I shall bring you in to be a prisoner for MY captain!”
Thaddeus rushes at her, and a second later, she rushes back.

Bit of a dialogue refinement: Myles is an engineer. He knows and respects the value of Percussive Maintenance in its time. He wouldn't disparage the thumping technique.

I edited a bit. Lemme know if it works better. I kept the last part intact cause it's a good lead in to the Server's next line. We should be getting back to Miles and Jad in the next part. Once I figure out what 'Mister Pyrite' and Captain A should talk about. Perhaps another person shall end up with a free drink, eh? This time without any suggestive dialogue! Note: I Mailed Psychobunnyfire and got a response. Apparently we may have one person who had agreed to do art for us. If we can get another, we can have one for backgrounds and one for characters! Woot!

Hurrah! Glad I did justice to your character! Tho now I'll have to dig in and stay true to it like with the others. Random misc characters are my little minions, they do as I please. Guild Characters are liiiittle more challenging. Luckily I've had to play other people's characters before when I was younger. On that note, SPI thinks the Director Character should be named after me (in some way) ... stare not sure if that's a GOOD thing or a BAD thing.

I received a message from Psychobunnyfire and some tweaks will be done with Lynn's character. Keeping jad's reaction, just may adjust it, cause she IS a spy. Also changing her signing "Lynn Merryweather' in the letter in the first part.
Gonna hopefully get more info before plunging forward. In the meanwhile... perhaps I should re-visit the boys before picking up you all from the cliffhanger? Yay? Nay?

New part! And Mylian, a PM coming your way! Cause I wanna keep things secret... at least until I get more feedback from Psychobunnyfire.
Note that I put SOME info on Aether in here. I'm not QUITE sure on where this story stands with how much usage Aether has there. I did some :: gasp! :: research and recalled what info I could from my Physics II class Senior year in H.S, and I have a better idea of what it can be used for. I also trust my brain to come up with some other purpose for the Aether plot in here. Besides what else may or may not be suggested below.
I'll do more research when the time comes... <.<;
---
INSIDE The TOP FLIGHT GRILL
Jad stares out the large front window at the people gathering at the curb.
Myles lingers nearby, leaning backwards the same window, staring at the inside of the bar.
JAD: “Y’know, I was thinking. What do you think Sylvian wants with this Aether information anyway?”
MYLES: “You think I’d be this calm if I knew?”
Jad steps back from the window and peers at Myles intently.
JAD: “ARE you calm?”
Myles stares at him, looking rather annoyed than calm.
MYLES: “As calm as I can be outside of my lab and talking about a person I’d rather not be thinking about. It’s bad enough to have her around some days.”
He looks over at the Servers as he says the last part.
MYLES: “And as for what she may be up to… you’ve got me. Apparently she’s asking about an element that exists everywhere but has no tangible form. She knows as well as I of some of its common uses, but she could be looking for information from other parts of the world. What she has in mind with such information is...”
Myles shrugs and tilts his head up and stares at the ceiling, thinking.
Jad half looks back out the window, watching a few pirates go by.
Something clicks. He glances at Myles out of the corner of his eye, slyly.
JAD: “Unless she has notes around.”
Myles snaps out of his thoughts and glares at Jad.
MYLES: “Don’t even think of it. I don’t even want you NEAR my lab for a good long time.”
Jad turns to face him and holds his hands up, as if warding off an attack.
JAD: “Wha? That’s not fair. I just wanna take a look around, get some inside information so I don’t waste my time looking up stuff she already knows. What could happen?”
MYLES: “What could HAPPEN? Just… just…”
Myles sputters to a stop and puts his face in his hands.
MYLES: “Just… NO.”
Jad sighs and leans up against the window again, watching the Parade go by.
JAD: “Not even for delivering the information?”
MYLES: “Send a note.”
JAD: “What about the pirates?”
Myles lifts his head about a fraction of an inch and looks at him warily.
JAD: “Will you at least tell me if they get there first?”
Myles lowers his hand and sighs.
MYLES: “If I’m able to tell you anything by that time, I will. Sylvian’s the one who made the deal with them, and knowing her, I’m sure she made it in HER best interest and not your own.”
JAD: “Hmm…”
MYLES: “Hmm what?”
Jad waves his hand, giving Myles the brush off and paces off, thinking.
Myles watches him suspiciously, but Jad takes no notice of him.
Myles shrugs and removes a pocket watch and tinkers with it.
JAD: (To himself) “Something seems… off about all this.”
Jad makes his way back to Myles.
He motions for Myles to follow him.
Myles refuses.
Jad grabs Myles by the arm and leads him back to the table.
JAD: “Why did you agree to make a part for the Pirates of the Purple blade anyway?”
MYLES: “What does this have to do with anything?”
Jad half shoves Myles into his chair and takes his place across from him.
JAD: “A lot. I was thinking about the little deal Sylvian made… the Aether technology she wanted… the Pirates being here, and the play Captain Cochran jumped into and the whole situation in the city.”
MYLES: “It’s a mess, that’s what it is. But if you really want to know, I had a request delivered for me for that part, and I didn’t know who sent it until recently. It came with a lot of money and by the time I’d found out the request was made by Pirates, I’d already started on the part and then… it was too late. I was stuck.”
Jad leans back in his chair and takes a drink.
JAD: “Did Sylvian have a part in it?”
MYLES: “Probably. It’s not like I can fully control when she’s comes around.”
JAD: “Because… she did say the pirate’s part was unfinished, so technically if it blows too soon, we could both be in trouble. She gave the part to them, KNOWING that, and somehow I doubt any sort of deal could keep the Pirates of the Purple blade off my back a second time. They’ll be back and no doubt angry. They’ll be angry at you and want you to make another part, with or without the Aether technology in tow. The little scene with them caused enough trouble so now I can’t skip out without seeming suspicious, and given all the chaos in the streets with the play that just ended and how the mindsets of the people were so easily influenced… Myles, when the pirates come back, not IF, but WHEN, what do you think will happen?”
Myles stares at Jad, his eye twitching and he shakes his head to make it stop.
MYLES: “It seems like too much of a coincidence…”
JAD: “Do you really think she WANTS the information on the Aether technology? I’m not saying it’s a possibility that she does, but she always seems to have some plan, doesn’t she? And working that into the whole set up with the play…”
Myles nods, looking slightly ill.
MYLES: “And when they come back…”
JAD: “Who knows when that will be. But right now, I’m trapped here.”
Jad half laughs and plays with his drink.
JAD: “I’m always ending up in the wrong place at the wrong time…”
MYLES: “Yeah… and it looks like she might have used your little situation with them to help stir up the beginnings of a war, whether it was intentional or not.” -----
