MISSION- Fair thee Well, Slowpoke!

Azalea Town is getting ready for a festival in honor of Slowpoke. However, they need a Slowking for the opening ceremony. Kurt was supposed to go catch one, but he's hurt his back and can't go.

Your mission is to go to the Slowpoke Well and catch a Slowpoke. Once you have one, take it to either Kurt or Bugsy, the town's Gym Leader. They'll reward you for your work.

Pokemon:
Any Basic-stage Bug-type, if you trade Slowpoke to Bugsy.

Items:
5 of any kind of Ball (Except Aqua Ball, Master Ball or Luxury Master Ball), if you give Slowpoke to Kurt.

Reward:
P$600

Well... I have a slight problem with this... You see, you messed up with your Focus Blast, majorly, the attack would have been canceled. the way Focus palm works is that the user charges power at the beginning of the turn and attacks at the end of the turn. If the user id hurt by the opponent any time in between by the opponent, the attack is canceled. and obviously if you swap it out, you really wouldn't have attacked it...

I'm at a toss up here. I do think that this one huge screw up throws it all off balance and makes me wanna fail it... and the story was kinda short as well, but with this being a lower level mission, I won't hold that part against you.

*sigh* I'm sorry but that one mess up irks me so bad that I have to fail it. Of course you may get luck and my decision will get over turned.
Arekku, you may want to re-read the mission and your grade. Focus BLAST, FORCE palm, and Focus PUNCH are three different attacks. And I'm now confused. And they all have different effects.

I was really confused too.....

After he sent his Riolu out into battle he clearly stated "Focus Punch" He used the end result before it was supposed to be used. As I said. my decision can be overturned... stare

EDIT: Oh... Well, I meant to say Focus Punch in my report...

Works for me. Grade stands.

Though a re-read through your grade wouldn't hurt. I think you meant Focus Punch in the second reference.

Max was lounging around Aqua HQ playing with Ripley, his Riolu. They were boxing to help Ripley with his reflexes. Max went for a jab that Ripley dodged and then Ripley kicked Max in the shin and Max went down. Ripley jumped on Max. “Ok..ok you win Ripley.” Max said patting the little blue jackal on the head. He got up and grabbed a towel, wiping his forehead clean of sweat. He set the towel down and went to get a bottle of water, when his TADS vibrated. He dove for it like a bat outta hell, he was anxious for a new mission. Ripley jumped on his head and read the message with him.

Your mission is to go to the Slowpoke Well and catch a Slowpoke. Once you have one, take it to either Kurt or Bugsy, the town's Gym Leader. They'll reward you for your work.

Max slapped his TADS shut and bounded to his feet, Ripley still on his head. “Read for your first mission Ripley?” he asked. “Ri-Riolu.” was the excited response. Max got a change of clothes, grabbed all the necessary equipment, and headed throught the Teleporter, going to Azalea Town.

He got out of the teleporter and was immediately bombarded with noises and smells. The festival was getting ready for the Slowpoke festival and that is why they needed the Slowpoke that Max was after. He looked around for awhile and found Kurt, the man who was originally supposed to go and get the Slowpoke.

“Hello Kurt. I'm Max.” Max said casually. Kurt turned and saw that Max was from Team Aqua so he assumed he was the sap, I mean lucky member, sent to get a Slowpoke.

“Hello Max, you're here to get the Slowpoke I'm guessin'” Kurt said.

Max nodded in agreement. “Yup, Just need you to show me to the well and then we can get this party goin', literally.” Kurt chuckled and signaled for Max to follow him.

Max followed Kurt to the well where to Slowpoke were supposed to be. Hence why they called it Slowpoke Well. Anyways.....

“I was supposed to go down there and get 'er but I threw out ma back.” he said leaning backwards and producing a rather loud cracking sound. He chuckled it off.

“Well don't worry Kurt, I'll go down there and get you the best Slowpoke you have ever seen. Or just a regular Slowpoke.” Max said with a grin. He liked being funny. Max jumped down the hole and landed on his feet at the bottom. When he looked up he realized it was only about a 7 foot drop.

“Be back later sonny!” Kurt said and went back to the town to help with preparations.

Max brushed the dirt off his pants and headed deeper into the well. He called out Torchic, who he told to use Ember and hold it in his mouth to light the cavern. He walked through until he heard some rocks shuffle. He signaled for Torchic to kill the fire and follow him slowly.

They came upon a Slowpoke who was just sitting there, either lost in thought of his thoughts were lost, Max could not tell. “It's just a Slowpoke, we can handle this.” he said to Torchic, who nodded in agreement.

“Use Peck!” Max said to announce his first move. Torchic sailed through the air and Pecked the Slowpoke, who still didn't even know other beings were in the well. The Slowpoke turned

“Slow?” it said. It looked at the Torchic angrily and used Water Gun and blasted it into the wall.

“Torchic!” Max said and returned Torchic. Being a fire Pokemon that really had to hurt. “You were very helpful.” he said before grabbing another Pokeball and releasing Ripley.

“Riolu!” it said, getting into a fighting stance.

“The Slowpoke doesn't stand a chance. We are way too fast.” Max remarked. “Force Palm!” he said.

Riolu ran in a zigzagged line, confusing the Slowpoke slightly, jumped, and smashed the Slowpoke right on the top of the head, scoring a critical hit and a paralyze. The Slowpoke tried using Rollout but the paralysis held it back.

“Finish it with Focus Punch!” Max said. Riolu already had the Slowpoke right there so he used Focus Punch and knocked it right against the wall. As it tried to get up Max used his last Pokeball.

Wiggle,
Wiggle,
Wiggle...Ding!

Slowpoke was captured and ready for delivery. Ripley jumped up on Max's shoulder and leaned against his head, tired. “Why don't you take a rest.” he said beaming the jackal into his ball. He grabbed the ball with the Slowpoke and exited the well.

He walked back over to Kurt's hut and knocked on the door. Kurt answered with a surprised look on his face.

“I didn't expect ya back so soon.” he said astounded.

“It wasn't much trouble.” Max said with a grin. He handed the Slowpoke over to Kurt who set it down on the table.

“Now what kinda Pokeballs ya want?” he asked.

“5 Shiny Balls please.” Max said. Kurt handed him the Shiny balls, they exchanged goodbyes, and Max teleported back to Aqua HQ.

Well, not much detail added.... actually none aside from the fact that you paralyzed the Slowpoke, which was a good thing to do for your Focus Punch technique. But it's still out of order, Focus Punch isn't a charge then attack... It's a charge, wait for the opponent's move, then attack.

You're just one minor change away from a passing grade. And I know you'll find it after my little tid bit of advice.

You forgot to mention you failed it twice, nah I'm just kiddin' ya! That really was the only thing holding you back seeing as though it's only a level one mission. Although next time I'd love to see more detail next time, you know make paragraphs instead of one liners?

Mission is a pass, but 100 PD is deducted from the number of attempts. Your other reward, 5 Shiny Balls, helps a lot though doesn't it?

MISSION- Flame on!
Go catch a fire pokémon!

_____________________________________________________________

Sunny was writing up a mission report in her room in HQ. The peace there was making her want to fall to sleep. She was really organized, surprisingly really, since she wasn't usually a well-organized person. Her TADS lay beside her spare notepad, her pencils were in a neat stack near her bag and a cup of steaming coffee was sitting a few centimeters away, on a coaster in the middle of the table. Midri, her Eevee, was curled up on her knee. With her spare hand, Sunny occasionally stroked her Night sky patterned coat. As she scribbled away on her notepad, her TADS beeped. She picked it up.
"Hello?" she asked, sleepily.
"One mission received!" a message buzzed out. "One mission received!"
Sunny pressed a few buttons on the machine and it started telling her what the mission was.
"So, my mission is to catch a fire pokémon, hmm?" Sunny muttered, scrambling up quickly. She started to pack her backpack, muttering advice to herself. Midri leapt off her knee and ran to the door.
"Growlithe at Cinnebar... Vulpix outside Celadon... Ponyta on the bike path..." she mused aloud, wondering which pokémon she should set her sights on. As she finished packing her bag, she made up her mind. Midri leapt onto her left shoulder as she headed for the door.
"I've always wanted to see Celadon City, so it makes sense to go there and aim for Vulpix..." she decided, before stepping onto a teleporter.

She appeared behind a large, tall building in Celadon. The Sun was high in the sky and she basked in its warmth as she made her way down the busy, paved main street. People and pokémon were everywhere. After walking through the crowds, Sunny stumbled upon a great basin of white stone. It was the famous Celadon fountain! Sunny had no pokedollars of her own to throw in, so she threw in a small disc-shaped rock instead, for the sake of it. Afterwards, she looked carefully at the marvelous stone carving on top. It was in the shape of a Gyrados, with water spurting out into a large fountain from its mouth like a mini hydro pump. She stood there for a while, captivated, before she heard a cry.
"Bring that terror back!" a woman was yelling. What looked like a young Meowth was running off with some washing from the woman's line! Sunny immediately gave chase. Midri leapt off her shoulders and chased it out of the city gates. Sunny, who was slower than Midri, eventually had to stop and get out her bike. Midri, who Sunny had trained for speed, was able to follow Meowth all the way to the underground passage leading to Lavender town. She leapt onto it so it couldn't go any further, but the Meowth was also fast. It dodged - and ran back the way it had come!

Sunny was just about to pass a patch of tall grass on her bike when she noticed a streak of fur and washing dive into the undergrowth. Sunny saw Midri coming towards her.
"Ee, ee-vee!" she called, pointing to the grass. Sunny leapt off her bike and parted the grass. The Meowth the looking panicked. A wild Vulpix had caught up the other end of the washing Meowth had stolen. Meowth, determined to go on with the washing, was trying to pull it away. Sunny started forward. This was an opportunity to attack! She returned Midri to her Colourball.
"Go, Piplup!" she called, as the tiny penguin pokémon appeared in the air as she tossed her ball. "Use Bubblebeam!" Sunny commanded. Piplup used bubblebeam on Meowth. The Meowth finally let go of the washing. It leapt up and used bite on Piplup. Both weakened by the other's attack, they stood facing each other. The Vulpix ran out and joined Piplup.
"Pip, lup!" Piplup looked excited. Sunny pointed at the Meowth.
"Piplup, whirlpool!"
The Vulpix, who was faster than Piplup, first unleashed a flamethrower on the unsuspecting pokémon. Almost drained of HP, the Meowth stumbled back. Piplup finished off with a whirlpool. Because of the flamethrower, the Meowth's fur was very hot. When the cold water hit it, it caused an eruption of steam. Vulpix and Piplup backed away. Sunny held her breath. Had they done it? The steam cleared to reveal the Meowth lying on its back. Fainted.
Sunny was pleased. She called Piplup back to its ball, congratulating it as she did so. Then she turned to the Vulpix. It stood up when she met its gaze. It pointed a paw towards Sunny's backpack, where she kept her pokeballs.
"You want to battle?" Sunny enquired. "Well, ok... I was sent to catch a fire pokémon!"

Vulpix stood at one end of the grass patch. Sunny stood at the other. They were facing eachother determinedly. Sunny made the first move.
"Go, Gulpin!" she called. The poison pokémon appeared in a flash of silver light. "Use rollout!" As Gulpin fired itself at Vulpix, Vulpix unleashed a flamethrower. Gulpin managed to roll through the flames and hit Vulpix, but was burned in the process. "Now use sludge bomb!" Sunny continued. Gulpin spewed out sludge which fell all over Vulpix, damaging it further and poisoning it. However, Vulpix still had half of its HP left. It launched a fire blast on Gulpin. Gulpin was also hurt by its burn. It was almost at fainting stage! Sunny quickly returned it to prevent further injury. Once again, she sent out Piplup.
"Piplup! Use water gun!" Sunny commanded. Vulpix, who was fastest, tried to blast Piplup with a flamethrower, but as Piplup fired a strong water gun, it knocked the attack off-course so it missed Piplup. Vulpix was hit hard.
Sunny took out a Colourball from her bag. She threw it at Vulpix and it was encased in the ball in half a second. The ball wiggled once... twice... three times! Sunny picked up Piplup and cheered.
"I caught Vulpix!"
Sunny returned Piplup and put the pokeball and Colourball containing her new pokémon back in her backpack. She got on her bike and rode off back towards Celadon city and the teleporter to HQ. She had completed her third mission with success!

Well, I couldn't find anything to fault, it was a fun story and very well written, the battle was something I really like to see, not one sided, and includes the back and forth style in the games but with a twist of the anime in there. But next time, please include the mission level in the briefing.

Mission is a pass, keep the Vulpix and the 600 PD.

MISSION- Birch's First Break-in
Any Team Aqua member is asked to go to Prof. Birch's lab in Littleroot and steal one of his three pokemon (Treeko, Torchic, Mudkip). You must sneak in at night. But don't get caught by Prof. Birch or his assistant. At some point you must battle the pokemon you stole/are stealing, if you want to catch it.
Pokemon:
Treecko
Torchic
Mudkip
Funds upon completion: 300

Items: 5 Pokeballs
Bike

“Stupid thing...” Kail muttered, dismounting his bike with ease. He knelt down beside the bike, feeling the wheel. Despite it’s survival of the river, the bike was still not quite up to par. He was worried that the wheel was going to snap off- he could feel it wiggling uncomfortably as he rode along. But as long as it held out long for him to get to Littleroot, he’d survive. Hopefully.

Kail pulled out his TADS, lighting up the darkness with the screen. Break into b***h’s lab... weird. Was there really any point to this mission? Besides, he thought that Aqua wasn’t supposed to be so criminal anymore. Oh well. Kail was a bit too amoral and easily amused to care to deeply. In any case, he was interested in one of the three Pokemon that Birch tended to have. Which one? Well, he’d decide that later.

At least he was at Oldale Town. It wouldn’t take much longer to arrive in Littleroot. He’d timed it so that he’d get to the town at night, so he wouldn’t have to wait around for too long. Well, there was no point in sitting here glaring at the at the bike. Sighing, he straightened up and return to riding his possibly demonic booby-trapped object of traveling. Perhaps he wouldn’t fall to his death. That would be nice.

So within twenty minutes or so (seeing as running around the land of Pokemon was surprising simple), Kail biked into Littleroot Town. As expected, the place completely empty, void of any people or Pokemon to deal with. Convenient! This was a quiet, sleepy sort of a place, which probably wasn’t used to random kids coming down and insanely raiding the lab of the esteemed professor. Which wasn’t, you know, bad. Most places didn’t need crazy kids breaking into labs.

Kail placed his bicycle against the back of the building carefully. Dismounting, he unhooked a Pokeball from his belt. “Karin? I need you to give me a hand and keep watch.”

The Sandshrew nodded. It was quite useful that Kail’s limited telepathy could extend to communicating to Pokemon. Being a Psychic, despite it’s drawbacks, definitely made his life easier.

Now for the sneaking. For no reason other then that he could, the blond tumbled head over heels behind a group of bushes, kicking up a bunch of leaves and sticks in the process. “Mission Impossible: activated!” Peaking over the side, he looked back and forth wildly. “Dun dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun, DUNANA, DUNANA!”

“Sand...” [You are the worst ninja ever...]

“Yeah, well... shut up,” hissed Kail, the hypocrite, as he crouched down behind the rest of the bushes, performing even more Unnecessary Combat Rolls™ to the door. Despite the backpack and Kail’s general uncoordinated-ness, he didn’t make enough noise to wake up anyone. Getting to his knees, began to feel around on the ground. “Gotta be here somewhere... aha!” From under the doormat, he pulled out a key. He pause, staring at the key in an incredulous manner. “Wow, Birch is really, really stupid. He shrugged. “Eh, his loss, my gain.” With that, he gently unlocked the door and stepped into the lab.

“Well, this is creepy...” The lab was almost unnaturally clean- even in the dark, it seemed to give off light. For an utterly unorganized kid like him, it was weird. Still, it would make things go quicker. Once again doing a couple Unnecessary Combat Rolls™, he crossed the room to a table in the middle of the lab. On it was a briefcase, which was fortunately unlocked. Kail got the feeling that he would get as lucky as he did with the first key. Opening it, he saw within it three Pokeballs. Which one, which one...

Bang! “Professor? You i- MY FACE OH GOD!”

“SHREEEEEE!” [KAIIIIIIIL!]

Without pausing to think, he grabbed the closest Pokeball to him, then ran towards the window, yanking up his hood over his head. Using the brilliant common sense that he was known for, Kail leapt out the window, at least think to duck and tuck. Rolling to his feet, he saw an worrying sight. It seems that Professor Birch’s Assistant had come by, and seeing Kail’s bike, had realized something was up. Karin, being as logical as her trainer, jumped straight onto the poor boy’s face, and was now clinging on for dear life.

Deciding that the answer to all violence was more violence, Kail slammed his fist into the assistant’s stomach. The small boy was much stronger than he looked. The unfortunate assistant went down like a light. Karin used his face as a springboard, jumping to Kail’s shoulder. Jumping back on the bike, he pedaled off, not daring to look behind him.

Once they’d left Littleroot Town and it’s abused citizens far, far behind, Kail finally stopped, practically falling off his bike. His Sandshrew had latched onto his hair tightly, scarred for life. “That... didn’t go to bad...” he gasped.

“Sandshrew sand.” [My mouth tastes like unwashed assistant.] Karin was not pleased.

Sitting up, he eased the Sandshrew off his head and placed her down carefully. Continuing, he handled his new Pokeball, grinning. “But we got the Pokemon through unquestionably illegal means! That means something, right?” His hand slipped, pressing the white button in the center of the objet. “Oh sh-”

In a flash of red, a Torchic appear, sleepy and displeased. “Tor, torchic?” [Who are you? You’re not the Professor...”

Were this an anime, Kail would have sweatdropped. “Um... I’m your new trainer... hi?” He blinked, unsure.

The Torchic didn’t like this answer. “Tor! Torchic chiiii!” [No! Unless the Professor gave me you, you’re a thief, and thieves need to be punished!] She jumped at Kail, bringing her talons into a Scratch.

“GAH SAND-ATTACK!”

Kicking up her feet, Karin threw sand in the Torchic’s eyes, damaging her accuracy. Luckily, it was enough, making her miss Kail by an inch. The boy tumbled out of the way, yelling in a slightly less terrified voice, “Scratch her back!”

Karin darted at the Torchic, clawing her in a direct hit. "Sandshrrrrew!" [Leave my trainer alone!]

The Torchic stumbled backwards, but wasn’t out of the count yet. Struggling to her feet, she jumped into the air, Scratching Karin across the chest. And, much to Kail’s horror, it was a critical hit, digging in deep. “Defense Curl!”

Karin was thrown down, weakened. However, she managed to curl up in a ball. It was improved her defense just enough; Torchic’s Scratch hit, but she survived. Kail grinned. “Almost there- just one more Scratch!”

Rising uneasily, Karin lashed out at the Torchic, landing one last good hit. It wasn’t a critical, but that wasn’t what they wanted right now.

Both Pokemon were gasping in pain. As it was, the Torchic wasn’t doing too good. She had few hit points left, and wouldn’t last another attack. Then again, if Karin was hit again, the Sandshrew would go down. This was going to be close...

Kail scooped up the Pokeball the Torchic had escaped from, then jumped into the middle of the battle. “Stop!” he snapped; the random move was enough to stop the Torchic. “Yes, I stole you. But the way this is going, one or both of you is going to get seriously hurt. Just let me catch you, get the both of you to a Pokemon Center, and we can talk!”

The Torchic raised her blazing eyes to Kail’s face. Weighing her options, she growled, “Torrrr...” [Fine, thief. You may lay hands on Haru for now...]

Before she could change her mind, Kail threw to Pokeball at Haru the Torchic. Three shakes... a flash of red light... he’d caught her! Re-caught her, whatever. Grabbing the Pokeball, he turned to Karin, picking her up. “Are you okay?”

“Shrew.’ [I’ve had worse.] She snuggled against Kail’s chest. [I’m tired.]

Kail smiled protectively. “You did awesome, little one. Let’s get you someplace safe." Returning the Pokemon, he clambered onto his bike, deciding to notify HQ once everyone was healed and he’d had a nice long talk with Haru.

Giniku Hoshi
MISSION- Birch's First Break-in
Any Team Aqua member is asked to go to Prof. Birch's lab in Littleroot and steal one of his three pokemon (Treeko, Torchic, Mudkip). You must sneak in at night. But don't get caught by Prof. Birch or his assistant. At some point you must battle the pokemon you stole/are stealing, if you want to catch it.
Pokemon:
Treecko
Torchic
Mudkip
Funds upon completion: 300

Well, to be technical, you didn't get caught, but you were seen. Eh, it definitely added to the plot, and made the whole thing much much more interesting. Next time if it says "don't get caught" I would include that as in the act and actually caught. ^^ I love a little bit of comedy and there were a few parts of this mission report that made me chuckle.

Your new Torchic seems to have a good sense of fair treatment, and I'm pretty sure you'll be a little happier with your 300 PD. Pass

Next time, please put the mission level in the briefing. biggrin
