As the student burst into the room, sweating in what she assumed was fear or pain, she frowned inwardly to herself. She had always been a particularly quiet girl and couldn't imagine how bad detention was to elicit a reaction such as this from a student of the academy. She made a note to ask the dimensionally challenged woman about her punishments the next chance she got.

Niku opened her mouth, deciding that moment to ask right then, but was shocked into silence by the students rapid change of demeanor. Seconds ago he looked to be on the verge of panicking but now he just seemed... well, casual. She frowned outwardly as well as inwardly Insolent whelp... how long does he think mistress will put up with this before she turns him over to Solstice without restraint? She straightened her face once again and turned to the Dep. Head Mistress

"I apologize for the trouble ma'am, but if I may, I would like to inquire of Solstice about these methods of... detention,"

((Fixed. I slipped for a moment and thought there was only one Headmistress.))

Kaede looked sternly at Hunbaba. "That's Yui-sensei or miss Yui for you, Hanuba-kun. And you may just as well find your own room, the dorms are right through there." She wawed with her left arm towards a dark wooden door, nearly covered by a blue veil so that it was hardly noticeable. Although she was offering help with moving in just before, she was now quite reluctant - mostly because she felt insulted by being called by her first name by a student. He can probably handle finding the large number eight engraved on the door. She turned away, expecting the student would be able to find his way, and waited for the headmistress to reach her, as she was obviously headed this way.

James listened to Aloe as she giggled and then accepted his offer. At first he wasn't sure to take her additional response as a kind of complement or more of a put down, and while he was working out the possible meanings in his head, she suggested that they go sit down away from the rest of the group and then walked off in that direction. Shrugging his shoulders, he followed behind her and took a seat on her right side. It just felt more natural to have people he was growing to be comfortable with on his left side; perhaps it stemmed from the fact that it is easier to attack those on his right since he is left-handed.

Sitting down, he decided to make a comment about what she said a moment ago. "So I act noble, eh? That is the first time someone has linked that word with me. I mean it was always something that I wanted to be called in the future, but never something I felt right now." He was kind of thankful to Aloe; it felt good to be associated with being noble, and he would keep it in mind not to let pride and nobleness get in the way of asking for help.

"I'll do what I can to stay humble and ask for help. But just in case I start slipping up, feel free to slap me upside my head and let me know, ok, Aloe?" James said with a warm laugh, the first one he had all day. He felt really comfortable around her, and it had only been a few minutes altogether. After his laugh calmed down enough, he said politely, "I've been meaning to ask, if I may, what books are you holding there?"

“Gun? A weapon I would presume, but not one I’ve ever heard of. My trainer gave me a small course on normal Shinigami weaponry, and besides bladed weapons, there are few others…but he could have been wrong…” Tapping a thin finger against her chin, Tsubame looked genuinely perplexed for a moment. That was until the other students began milling about the entrance. Looking over her shoulder, she spied the roster list that had just been posted and bounded up to find out who she’d be roomed with for the rest of her stay. After a moment of waiting behind the others, Tsubame made it to the front of the line and drug a finger down the list until it landed on the second dorm room. “…Takanashi Tsubame and Ryan Stephen Feldric.” Smiling with delight, she trotted back to the cushion she’d just left and leaned down, her long hair falling down her shoulders. Her worries about dorm life were quickly fading, “Looks like we’ll be rooming together.” Standing once more, she spun away on the balls of her feet towards the doors. “I’ll be back soon, I need to gather my things and then I’ll head straight to our room.” Dancing out the door, Tsubame giddily made her way towards the school grounds entrance, set on a quick excursion to the aristocratic quarters of the Seireitei to retrieve her belongings.

Watching Tsubame leave, Ryan felt a bit fortunate that he would be rooming with her. He didn't really like the prospect of sharing a room with someone he didn't know...and he also didn't have to worry about the drunkard. Getting up himself and taking a look at the bulletin board, Ryan noted that his room was almost as far from the drunk's as possible, which was all the better. I came with nothing but these clothes and have nothing but these clothes, so I guess I'll go wait in the room.

With that thought, Ryan headed toward the hall, but stopped at the bookshelves and looked them over. So many...perhaps I'll have read some. Wait, is that- His eyes widened at the sight of a book he hadn't touched in years - a copy of George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four. Taking that, he selected three others that had caught his eye: The Gunslinger and a compilation novel titled The Bachman Books, both by an author he'd never heard of known as Stephen King, and one book that was noticeably larger in page size than the rest, with nothing on the cover other than two hands holding an apple, the word "Twilight" and the author's name - Stephenie Meyer. Taking the books with him, Ryan walked down the hall and into his room, closing the door behind him.

Aloe rests back against the chair shes in, starting to relax a little until she hears the unmistakable voice of the headmistress. Sitting straight again, she looks to see Ren addressing the students. A little nervousness shines through as Aloe tries to figure out how to respond without having to shout across the room to be heard. In the end she just makes a bright smile in the headmistresses direction and hopes that is enough of a response from her.

Turning back to James, Aloe was glad that he was willing to be humble. Admirable as being noble was, Aloe knew that sometimes it could drop people in the deep end of things that she'd rather help people stay out of. "I'll be sure to remind you if you slip up too badly. But I won't slap you. That would be unnecessary." Aloe's eye's closed slightly as she gave big, friendly smile, and she opened them again as James asked about the books she held.

Looking down at her books, she moved her hands off the top of her books and to the side of them so they weren't so hidden. "Oh. These books aren't anything important. The one on the top is just general knowledge I sometimes need to remind myself of. I only brought it for something to read before the gates opened." Aloe picked up her books and held them to her chest under her crossed arms. "And the second book is my diary. I'd like to make it a room-mate rule that you don't read it, or let anyone else read it. Okay?" Aloe's smile lessened a little to convey that it was a serious request, but it didn't disappear completely. Even she had things she liked to keep private.

The clearing of the a young gentleman's throat caused Yomiko to flinch a bit. She was a bit startled at the noise and her expression shown it well. In a matter of moments, the fearful expression changed back into that calm one that she had on before. Her eyes trailed over to the owner of the voice as he spoken to her. Yet another person who spoken to her today. Well, that was a good thing. At least everyone is trying to get to know each other. She couldn't help but notice that he was rather cute, especially with his odd crimson orbs. They were unique. Yomiko never seen anything like that, but then again, she never ventured outside of her home. Yomiko gave the male an equally kid smile while she removed her hand from her hip only to run her hand through her ebony locks. "I'm Yomiko...," She told him with a chuckle, her hand resuming it's place back on her hip. "Nice to meet you, Kuro."

As Hunbaba walked out of the room headding towards his bedroom he had his head bend over as if he were ashamed. He opened the common room's door and whispered quietly, regarless Kaede could still hear it,"Yui-sama, huhuhu I thought the Yui clan banished you!",Then exited slaming the door behind him.

As Ren was walking towards Kaede, the drunken student from before started walking into her direction toward the exit. As he stepped past her, he whispered something to himself, thinking no one could hear but him. Ren turned around violently, bitting her lower lip. She wasn't the type to show her annoyance, but this person was simply... primitive. She turned her gaze toward Kaede.

"Should I talk to Solstice?"

Kaede put on a slightly annoyed grimace when she hear Hunbaba's commentary - which he obviously thought no one will - and sighed tiredly. The concern that Ren showed immediately, however, cheered her up a bit. She answered calmly, and politely, maybe with a pinch of maniacal anticipation in her voice. "No, he just came from a detention with her. I'll let him cool down a bit, and if he continues to act like this, I have some aces up my sleeve as well." Her glance scanned over the room rapidly, with satisfaction noticing the students interacting with each other, and no one complaining yet. "Things are going rather well, don't you think? I must say I am very satisfied with this year's students as of yet. That is, with most of them." She was chattering lightly with Ren now, but expressing her hidden worries at the start of the semestre as well.

Kaede, no matter how calm and collected she had always been, now nearly cracked. Hardly restraining her temper towards the annoying student that kept bugging her all the time, she hissed through clenched teeth. "Go to your room, decorate it to suit you, socialize or read a book. The lessons start in the morning, and you still have plenty of time left. Now, off you go." She couldn't understand why the student constantly kept asking her things that were either obvious or already publicly announced. With a loud sigh, and hoping the student will give her some rest now, she turned back towards the headmistress, and instead of awaiting an answer, she suggested: "Would you care for a cup of tea? And miss Nikuyokura, you could join us as well if you wish."

Hunbaba shocked by the immediate response of Kaede he decided to stop pushing her buttons or he might get expelled. He walked away to his room whispering again slowly to himself, "Geesh, like she's mad or something!!!"

James sighed and began to talk light-heartedly again, "I don't know. I mean I'd have to fight off secret diary reading ninja clans, hordes of peeping demons, book stealing fairies, mischevious garden gnomes, and even evil toddlers. That's asking a lot of someone to protect your diary." James started to laugh quietly, slightly amused with his little joke, and continued sincerely, "Don't worry. Short of you throwing your diary at me and telling me to read it, I won't invade your privacy. I'll also try to protect it from the eyes of others, but I can't make any guarantees there. I do have to leave the room every now and then."

James noticed that she never really stopped smiling since she tapped him on the shoulder to start their conversation. He wondered if it was just something she always did, or if it had something to do with him in some way. It wasn't important enough to ask about, and unless he started seeing other explanations about it, he probably wouldn't ask either.

"So do you have a lot of stuff to move into the room? I can help if you need it. I don't really have much of anything myself. Just the clothes I came here with and some paper to write home every now and then." In a way, he was feeling homesick knowing that he wouldn't see them for quite some time.
