There is a Lightening Round now going on in the Dueling Club! Everyone is allowed to partake in this, including House-Elfs. We have prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place as well as House Points for those of you that are Sorted already. Before you send in your answers, please remember to re-read the Lightening Round Rules as well as the Regular Rules, if you have never taken part in the Dueling Club or if you haven't played it in a while, you should probably take a quick look at the Rules too, just as a refresher.
Edit: This Round has been Extended until the 15th, so that more people could enter the contest.

Quick Reminder to Teachers: Classes have been over since June 4. If you haven't added your house-points to the Hour Glasses, please do so as soon as possible. If your house points are not added by Wednesday, your House will lose 15 points.

Happy Summer Students!
If you've paid attention to the calendar's key dates, you'd know the Hogwarts Express should have began boarding days ago. Well I'm happy to announce, the Express is finally here! Ready for Boarding!
On another note, we've decided that Summer Term 2010 will not have classes, instead there will be a summer-long event!
Ever hear of the World Cup (and I'm not talking about football/soccer!)?
Sign up now! The first set of sign ups will close Saturday, @ 11:59 EST.
The Mod Squad and I will be getting a few more dates and announcements squared away in the upcoming week. This includes my beloved Awards announcement, which I am so happy about! Please be sure to check the Entrance Hall daily for any announcements I make in the upcoming week.

And might I say the Monthly is looking as s**c and span as ever!
If you read the latest guildwide announcement, you already know who the winners of the Spring Term house cup are. But did you realize just how many points each house earned this time around in this heated spring competition?
Coming in 4th with 825 points, Ravenclaw!
In 3rd place with 1141 points, Hufflepuff!
Striding in 2nd with 1290 points we have Gryffindor!
And finally, with a whopping 1876 points this term and winners of the house cup, I present...
Congratulations!
And another congratulations must go out to our house winners of the Top Student Poster competition. A round of applause to Stardust Disaster, Oshenukhar, 101cookies, and our tip top student poster of them all, DownAzzLette, making this her second win in a row!
Lastly, I would like to make a special toast to someone who will be moving beyond our student ranks into the wizarding world as a fully fledged witch. A round of applause please for our Hogwarts graduate, animefreak-01!

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am pleased to announce that HPGoG's first ever
Quidditch World Cup competition has officially begun!! Members are vying for the first ever World Cup Trophy AND bragging rights!
*waits for cheers and applause to subside*
The Teams have been decided and the Stands have been opened!
What are you waiting for??? Get over there!
All Chasers should head to Chasers Cranny, Keepers to Keepers Corner, and Beaters to the Beaters Benches.
Your referee will tell you when they are releasing the first series!
The Seekers should stay active in the Stands because it is there that Junimaia will give you the information you seek....
I also updated the Trophy Room. Spring Term winners now have the spotlight!

HPGoG's first ever Quidditch World Cup is quickly coming to an end! I hope you have all enjoyed it as much as I have! I will be making a few more announcements in regards to the Cup Winners, standings, etc. over the next few days, so please stay up to date in The Stands!

It is with pleasure that I congratulate the winner of the 2010 Quidditch World Cup: Team Romania!
Belgium fought hard and stayed proud! The final score was:
Romania: 595 Points
Belgium: 550 Points

To Students, House-elves, and anyone in between!
Congratulations again to Team Romania for winning our first ever Quidditch World Cup! All active Romania team members will be receiving a prize within one week. For second-place, members of Team Belgium, will also receive a small prize. For those involved in our unfinished avatar contest, I will be sending you a small 'thanks for effort' prize as well!
It is with pleasure that I announce Fall Term 2010 is approaching fast. With that, House Spirit Week 2010 will kick off September 10 (Friday)! More information on that can be found in the Entrance Hall.
On a more bittersweet note, I must announce the retirement of our beloved Junimaia, Head of Hufflepuff House. Junimaia's successor as Head of House will be Stardust Disaster (Amber) who is eager to join the Mod Squad!
