"Think so? Most people just think they're kinda . . . eerie," Rory said, shrugging one shoulder. He moved his hand a bit in hers so their fingers were interlaced then leaned over and kissed her, much less chaste than their first kiss. It was impulsive, more than he normally was, but the moment felt right.

While she could see how some might think "eerie", Lee saw nothing like that. She would have said something if he hadn't leaned in to kiss her -- not that Lee was complaining, of course. Rory's kiss was more of a surprise than it should have been, but it likely had more to do with how much deeper it was than the last. The normally settled butterflies were rising in her stomach again, something she'd thought would be over since she'd gotten to know Rory better.

The boy put an arm around Lee, pulling her closer as he kissed her. After a moment that seemed both long and not long enough, Rory pulled back and looked down at her, his near-colorless eyes soft. "Sorry. Just seemed like th' thing t' do at th' time."

Lee's hand fell behind his head as he pulled her closer, and she too felt it somehow hadn't lasted long enough. Still, they were distracting themselves from studying, weren't they? While the girl felt slightly guilty, she enjoyed him too much to mention it. As Rory pulled away, Lee had to keep herself from chuckling. "Don't apologize." She smiled softly up at him, somewhat happy that he seemed to be as shy about these things as she was.

Rory nodded quietly, then looked down at the book in his lap. "W' should prolly think about studyin' a little, eh? Just t' say w' did." He grinned at her, clearly wanting to do more kissing.

Lee bit her lip, scrunching her nose a little before saying, "Eh, yeah, probably." Still, she made no effort to reach for the book. When her options were kissing Rory or studying, it was pretty clear which she'd choose if she were to decide.

Rory didn't move for the book either, watching Lee. He made a small dismissive noise and leaned down, pulling the girl to him again and kissing her deeply. Studying could wait a bit longer, he figured.

Rory had chosen wisely. Lee both smiled and kissed him back, unconsciously letting her fingers run through his hair. It just barely crossed the girl's mind that he wasn't a bad kisser when he wasn't so nervous.

Oh, he was plenty nervous, he just enjoyed the softness of Lee's lips too much to pay his nerves any mind. A soft growly sound escaped his throat and he eventually broke the kiss, panting softly. "I . . . I think maybe w' should actually study afore anythin' more goes on, yeah?" He looked up at her through his dark bangs, cheeks tinted pink with his blushing.

Lee would be thanking herself later for the extra lip balm she'd used today. Looking up at him with a slightly disappointed look in her eyes as he pulled away, her own cheeks grew red when she realized what he meant. "Y-yeah, studying would be... good." She sat up, pulling the ends of her dress straight as she looked in her lap, embarrassed once again. "S-so, what page were we on?"

"Um, here," Rory said, flipping to where she'd said she'd left off on lessons. "You can always borrow these from me if'n you want. I mean, till w' get you your own." He stretched his legs out, resting back on his hands, and looked down at the book in his lap. "I ain't really sure what all you wis studyin' afore you moved here." He looked at her sidelong. "What d' they teach in them fancy outsider schools, eh?"

Lee blinked, unsure what to say before shrugging. "I dun think it's much different." Lee was usually quite oblivious to humor, and she took his question at face value. Her school had simply been more rigorous, more so than even most "outsider" schools, but not necessarily better at teaching. She explained exactly what she'd last learned in her history class, including specific names, dates, and useless trivia she'd been forced to memorize. It was, after all, her strongest subject, and for a moment she almost felt smart.

Rory, on the other hand, looked utterly lost at the flow of information. History was not a strong subject for him, but on top of that, he was sure Lee's old school had been able to teach a lot more. "I donnae think I know some o' them events or people you just mentioned, darlin'."

Lee tilted her head, laughing nervously. "R-really? Well, a lot of it was just sorta stuff you dun really need to know, so maybe they just dun teach it..." This was good news for Lee, however. At least, it would be when they got to math and science. Still, not having to learn every little scrap of information available wasn't going to guarantee Lee would do well in those subjects. "...What're you good at? We can start with that, I guess." Rory didn't seem too crazy about studying history.

"Me?" He looked a little taken back at the question. "I'm kinda good wi' th' maths, I guess. I like science, too, but I ain't tha' smart wi' it." He got up, handing Lee the history book so he could fetch the math and science books the carnival's school used.
