Kallista looked back to see someone she hadn't introduced herself to climbing the dunes, near the rocky outcropping. He must of had the same idea that she had. Instead of climbing further to explore the crevices, she waited for the other searcher to catch up to her position. He was younger than her, that much she could tell from the distance she was at and he had black hair.

With so many coming and going from Ista, it was hard to keep up with all the strangers. But, she would never hear the end of it from Astarteth if she wasn't a little bit friendly. "Come to help me search? If so, good. We can explore the tiny spaces better if we help each other out. I'm Kallista by the way."

Granted, she was about the same size as he was, maybe her frame was a little smaller. More than likely, she would be the one squeezing into tight spots.

Arolon looked up and was surprised to find the green rider from before! She was very pretty with reddish brown hair and hazel eyes. He resisted the urge to flirt, now was not the time.

He stood up taller trying to look like he wasn't tired as he was. Finally someone to talk to! They could work together. "I'm in."Climbing to catch up with her he smiled holding up the spiderclaw. "I have a food offering to hopefully appease the gold fire lizard." He was proud of his catch. Would she think it was gross? They were good for eating!

"My name's Arolon."

He definitely sounded younger than her. Kallista merely nodded as she continued to climb up the rocks and peer into random crevices. He did have a point about food though. She wondered if she should take a break in hunting to catch some food.

I will get you a fish if there is a little one hatching. Astarteth broke in.

"Nice to meet you, Arolon. The green dragon out there splashing is my Astarteth. She said she would find us some fish if we have to appease any flits." Offering him a hand up, the green rider turned to look around. "Plenty of good hiding places around here."

"Astarteth? I saw you two earlier. Down by the water. She's beautiful." He complimented, taking the offered hand. He followed her lead, peeking into any other crevices for signs of a nest. There was plenty of places to look!

"I figured if it were a gold fire lizard, then she would be guarding her clutch. So I started looking for places fire lizards would perch." He explained. He looked around for a moment. "Beautiful view." Then he returned to searching. Curiousity niggled it's way into his mind though and then he suddenly thought of something. "I was wondering before why you didn't fly overhead to find the clutch but I think I understand now. Too many places to hide!" He commented, ashamed of his earlier thoughts.

C’ren snorted awake, apparently having fallen asleep in the shade offered by Ceylith’s wings. Well, that was embarrassing… he stretched out a bit before getting up and brushing himself off. Ceylith? Why didn’t you wake me? This is not a good sleeping place. There’s all of this sand everywhere! he complained to the Green, who only looked moderately ashamed of herself.

You just looked so cute all sleeping like that… Ceylith crooned at her rider before nudging her nose under his hand. Besides, it’s not like you’ve slept enough recently anyway. Her eyes whirled with green and blue; in all honesty, she had missed simply resting with her rider.

As Pyrite was not getting the attention she felt she was entitled to, the spoiled ‘lizard was not happy. She flapped her wings and screeched again. This… still failed to make people watch her. With the firelizard equivalent of a snort, the gold flew back to C’ren’s shoulder, growling under her breath. Why were these people looking for ANOTHER gold when she was already here anyway? Clearly, she was more glorious than anything else they would find on this scabby beach.

“Shh, Pyrite. Yes, you’re very pretty. Now shut up…” C’ren dug around in his pouch before finding a bit of dried fish. The firelizard sniffed it delicately before nibbling on it carefully. She was not one to be rushed. “Right… well…” and then C’ren caught sight of Kagiya.

…Ok… what was one of those wandering around without supervision anyway? Ceylith? When did that one get here?

Oh her? Isn’t she just darling? the motherly Green crooned a greeting towards the little girl. She’s been watching Pyrite.

Where are her owners?

Parents, Mine. Human children have parents. And I don’t know. She’s been here alone. Mine, can we keep her?

What?! NO! We cannot keep her! Adoptions are F’sey’s thing! Ok… now that C’ren had been standing in silence and just staring, he supposed he had filled his creepy-quota for the day. “Girl, are you here alone?” he asked curiously, since he couldn’t think of a better way to say it.

Aww, the pretty Gold firelizard flew away. Kagiya made a sad face, and peered up at the little Queen. She had flown to a man's shoulder, which led the child to believe that she wasn't after all the elusive, fabled wild Gold. Sad! Wait, did that mean that the wild Gold was still out there somewhere? But then the man (the dragonrider, she realized) was asking questions, and... and... and she couldn't just go find the flitter!

"Nah uh. Somebody's s'pposed to be with me, but he said he gots to go swimming with his dragon an'... an' he's not here anymore."

Which meant that she was, more or less, here all alone. That meant that the man was right, and Giya was wrong. ... Little girls were never wrong. Her eyes were for Pyrite and not C'ren, who was far less interesting than a firelizard. There was no helping that. "'Scuze me, mister dragonrider sir. Issat your Gold?" 'Cause it had seemed like she was wild. And now it didn't, so she had to be sure. Otherwise, that might have been the friendliest firelizard she'd ever seen. ... Wild one, anyway.

Oh, shards… she was here alone. That meant C’ren had to do the noble thing and try and get her back home, didn’t he? He cursed mentally because playing babysitter was not his idea of a good time. Ugh… children. They always had sticky hands and always tried to be grabby or huggy or something similarly horrible.

Mine! Don’t use language like that in front of children! Ceylith said sharply; it didn’t matter if the words were only thought or not. It still wasn’t appropriate around a little child like this! Well, since the girl didn’t have anyone else to look after her, clearly Ceylith and C’ren would have to do the job. At least she seemed easily amused by Pyrite.

C’ren sighed and actually introduced himself, since he didn’t want to be ‘mister dragonrider sir’ for however long this took. “C’ren. My name is C’ren. Ceylith is my dragon and this lovely little lady is Pyrite. Yes, she’s my firelizard. Do you know the name of the dragonrider who brought you out here?”

Pyrite chirped at the sound of her name and realized she was actually the center of attention. She drew herself up proudly and preened, looking as flashy as she possibly could.

Kallista tried not to let compliments about her dragon go to her head. It was compliments about the dragon not the rider. Still.. She smiled when she looked back at her lovely green. "Thank you. Astarteth thinks she is rather pretty as well."

Looking down into another crevice, the rider saw signs of very old nests. Broken shells and old debris all over the place. Personally, she wondered if fire lizards reused nesting areas like some avians did. Climbing up to the next spot, she pulled away some seaweed and peered down. Nope. Nothing. "Flying with Astarteth would merely chase away the wild flits. Of course, I didn't realize so many would be searching today."

"I had heard the rumor but I didn't really think about it until I came out here. I wanted to go for a swim today when I saw everyone searching. I wondered what it would be like to befriend a fire lizard so I joined the search." He explained. He was mildly concerned for the wild queen. Would everyone take her babies away? Could she hunt with all these egg-hunters around? He only wanted to prove himself worthy of one baby fire lizard, but the whole clutch? No! He wasn't greedy.

He peeked into one of the crevices she did, spotting the old nest. He grew excited at the sight. They were on the right track! Or was that a bird nest? He couldn't tell. He looked into a couple more crevices. Not here! The places looked promising though. He kept seeing little insects here and there.

Valad had watched the others split into smaller parties to search for the rumared flit eggs. He smiled. He didnt need to go with someone, but he would go this way and maybe he would run into someone. Slipping his shoes off he tied them to his bag and headed in a random direction. He could see and hear people in all directions. And he could see a few infront of him.

He looked at the ground near his feet and kept an eye on those around him. Valad desided to search a while, then go to the sea for a good swim. Valad stumbled a bit in a soft patch of sand and as he struggled to stay upright he laughed.

"Oh come on fumble foot, keep your legs under you" He said to himself. Just as a wild blue flit dashed out of a little sand wollow it had created. The little creature chidded him roundly before dashing off.

Valad laughed again, "Forgive me, tiny sr. I didnt mean to inturupt your noon nap." The tall man smiled at the now dot in the clear blue sky.

Arolon lost his grip and slid down a bit, grabbing an old plant to brake his fall. It held him up but the motion swung him around, twisting his arm. He got a look at the beach, noticing a blue flit come out of the sand behind this man. "No way...." Was that one wild? Were the eggs buried after all?! "Kallista, look!" He pointed but the blue fire lizard flew away. The spot were it came up from. They had to get there! They had- but then his hand slipped and he fell down a ways.

"Oooooooh, OMPF! Ow...." He rubbed his back, pain telling him not to move. Excitement stirring in his limbs anyway. He got up, stumbled a little, then waited for Kallista. "Come on! I saw it! I swear!"

"My younger brother's naming day is coming up. I used most of my marks up last Hatching Feast, so I figured I would give hunting a try. If anything, I can always get him a wooden fire lizard or something. Though he is going to be 13 turns so he might be too old for something like that." Kallista stopped and thought about it.

Her brother was growing up and she was missing it. She wondered what boys his age actually did like... Maybe she should send a runner to the hold and ask him. Or she could just go on Astar. Moving upwards and checking all the smaller nooks, she tried to stay focused. "How old are you?"

"Kallista! COME ON! Fire lizards! 15!" He tried not to yell in his excitement, and he did answer the question but he felt rushed. He started running, spiderclaw in trembling hands. He ran as hard as he could. His chest started hammering faster and faster. He was panting heavily by the time he reached the wallow. Or he thought it was. It looked like a hole in the sand approximately where the man had been and the blue fire lizard appeared. He wasn't even sure it was the right hole! He motioned desperately for Kallista anyway. He wanted her to get an egg too! This might be it! She was his new friend, she deserved one. Shaking, he looked into the wallow. "H-Hello?" What happened to his fearlessness all of the sudden? He was nervous deep down to his stomach. Was there a gold fire lizard guarding her clutch in there? Would she attack him, even with the spiderclaw? He wasn't reaching in there, not without Kallista.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 03, 2009 6:41 pm

Kallista laughed as Arolon ran. When he shouted fifteen, she wondered if he meant his age or the number of eggs they hoped to find. Looking up, she did see an agitated gold nearby. One that did not seem to be answering to C'ren. Kicking up her heels, Kallista ran to catch up to her young newly made friend.

Shards but she didn't have an offering just in case they started Hatching. Looking to the sea, she bespoke to Astarteth. Love. Can you find me a fish or spiderclaw or something to feed the little ones just in case? I hope I can get an egg to my brother in time!

Scrambling, she finally arrived at Arolon's side. Panting slightly from the uphill battle, she looked into the hollow. Was there something inside there after all?

I am coming with food. Though, you should worry more about me and you. The green grumbled.

Arolon sighed with relief when his friend made it to his side. He started ripping off spiderclaw legs, he needed the peace offering in small bits for the queen to eat properly. He gave some pieces to Kallista, sharing the food offering, unaware that her green dragon was already hunting for food.

He could hear the irritated chattering but didn't see the gold flit yet. "Where is she?" He asked, looking around for a moment. "Dear one, you probably couldn't hunt with so many humans about. Are you hungry?" He asked to no one in particular, hoping she heard. He slowly reached his hand into the hole, expecting his appendage to be bitten at anytime yet still hopeful to feel the softness of egg shells. Once he located the gold queen he'd gladly give her the food in hopes of appeasing her. He kept his thoughts soothing, trying to show her that he meant no harm to the eggs.
