Garin came back several minutes later carrying not one, but two blankets. He set them no the ground near the doorway, then grabbed one and carried it to a corner on the opposite of the building. As silly as he seemed, he did have a sense of propriety. The other blanket... He dragged over to her. "Can you lift your leg?" he asked around a mouthful of blanket. "the injured one."

She blinked up at him, then lifted her head. "I could, yes..." she murmured, sounding a little suspicious. Then after a moment, she sighed and lifted her injured leg, wincing as pain stabbed through her. "Why am I doing this again?" she snarled.

Garin shoved the blanket under her leg till it was in a neat bundle under it, holding it upright. "Elder once told me you're supposed to keep injured limbs elevated... Elder was smart." He let his tongue loll out at her in a grin. "He said he studied with the Upright ones... But I'm not sure if I believed that or not."

She watched him, then smiled slightly. "Thank you." she murmured softly. "Elder, hm?" she asked, then gave a chuckle. "We didn't have any Elders in my Pack, not since I was a pup. Then she passed... I didn't get to see her much, since I was usually with mother."

"Our Elder was a strange one," Garin said before backing off a bit. He sat down on his haunches a moment and studied her, those keenly wise eyes looking her over. Then he padded back around the alter to his side of the building and plopped down on his blanket. "He used to tell all sorts of wild stories... as if he had been to many places."

"So he is where you learned your strangeness." she murmured, sounding satisfied to know that. "Was he even stranger than you?" Somehow, she thought that was impossible; Garin was terribly odd. "You are the weirdest Helix I've ever met, so I can't imagine what he would be like if he was."

"Maybe I did learn it from him," Garin said. "We were related after all." His tongue lolled out. "And I don't know yet! I've just started to adventure on my own. We'll have to wait and see where that takes me."

She rolled her eyes, then looked over at him. "How long... do you think you will stay here?" she asked. "It sounds as if you are wanting to travel and journey places to learn things. I'd like to know how long I'll have to put up with you."

Garin laid his head on his paws and looked at her. "Till after you've healed, then some more time," he said vaguely. "I don't know... I don't have a plan really. Baby steps!" He watched her with his golden eyes. "I like to look at the big picture more than the little details anyways!"

"But the details are so important." Janan protested, eyes going wide. "Without details, you cannot make a plan. I mean... don't you want to know where you're going to be ten years from now? I know where I will be... leading my Pack again."

"And that's good for you!" Garin said. "But I don't have a plan, and I don't care to have one. I just don't care! Why waste your time planning your entire life out like that? Does it really make you that happy?"

"Without that plan, I would have never survived my injuries." she told him softly. "I would have let myself whither and died - I wouldn't have forced myself to hunt even though it hurt like it did. I need my plans. They're all I have."

"Oy... That's not plans. That's basic survival instincts," he said with a snort before sighing. "I'm not saying your way is bad... I'm just saying it's not for me. I like to live carefree!" He nodded.

"No. Without my plan to return to my Pack, I would have let myself die." she told him softly, then shrugged, laying her head on her forepaws. "And with your attitude, it would be hard to find a mate and have pups. That's something that's very important to me."

"Is it really that hard?" he asked, giving her a wicked look. "I think that's great that that is important to you... But at the moment, it isn't a priority in my life. Maybe someday though." He yawned and laid his head on his paws again.
