Patrick skidded to a halt, fired another three rounds, twisted desparately to prevent his hip from impaling on the sword - it just barely worked - and then started running. It was time to get inside, or at least further away - he didn't apparently have to power to force this man into a close fight. Not yet, anyway. Hopefully someone would show up to help him out soon.

Pullman burrowed himself into the greatcoat he’d thrown on while leaving the penthouse. He’d sent Issaquah away after discovering the messenger to be a trick of the Taskmaster’s and was now in the sourest of moods. Instead of exploding into another violent outburst, a quiet had come over him that mirrored a predator waiting with perfect stillness for the opportune moment to strike. He made a mental note to look for such a moment to get back at Kantos in the future, as audacious a goal as that was. But Andrew Pullman was not a person to forget wrongs committed against him.
"This is troublesome... where are the others?”
Pullman glanced over his shoulder, just now noticing he was not alone on the aeropad. The stranger had more voiced a thought aloud than actually spoken to him, but Pullman scowled anyway.
“The ******** should I know? Why don’t you mosey on over to the edge of the building there and see if you can track ‘em down.”

The Shadowman in full gear turned around and faced Pullman. "Because- duck, now."

The Jack of Diamonds took Patrick's gunshots, his armor handling the hits better than him. "That's gonna bruise...." he muttered as he brought the flat of his blade against Patrick's side, tipping him off the bridge. "So long." He looked over the edge and saw they were lined up with another bridge. "Damn it," the Jack muttered, jumping down after him.

"What the hell are you—" Pullman began, before the Shadowman promptly ran straight for him and toppled him to the ground.
"Get off me!" Pullman growled, thrashing against the man.

s**t. I am going to die. There is nothing left for me now, it's over. s**t. It was a good run, I guess. What did I do with myself? s**t. I can't believe it. This can't be real. I'm dreaming. I never woke up today. Can't be real. Can't be.
Oh, there's the next bridge, that's convenient. He was rolled, too, which meant that if he were to land right, he'd be able to - yeah, on all fours, that would work - yeah, here we go.
He hit the crystal, his arms and legs buckling and flying out, so that his chest still hit a bit, before he scrambled up and started sprinting again. He probably didn't have long before that freak caught up with him. He needed to get inside! He could win there.

Catalena snorted, though she did have to regulate her sweat output as the tornado formed. A woman, then? A woman in men's clothing, or an irregular man. She immediately used her telekinetic prowess to push against the assailant's "gravitational" field. With the distance between them constant, she had time to think. The attacker was changing visual foci too quickly for hypnotism, although Catalena kept her gaze spot on eye level just in case. She had resisted telekinesis. She had resisted telepathy. She used an enchanted weapon. Catalena didn't stand a chance in melee, and she knew that. All the same, she unbelted her coat and pulled out her swords and dropped her attempts at hypnotism. She would need all of her concentration for this. The first sword, the leveled at the attacker and allowed to be sucked in, point first, perfectly flat, at knee height. The second, she threw spinning horizontally at the girl. To further resist the pull, she leaned back, letting the pull hold her in place as she began to slowly back away, eyes searching for exit points. If she could get back inside, maybe there would be a better route.

A huge invisible rift opened in the ground where Pullman had been standing.
"Third eye, moron! Now!" Putting his spite away for the sake of survival, Pullman activated his magical sight and witness an enormous, heavily armored mana signature pulling an also-glowing axe from the crystal floor.
"I suppose I'll drop my Chameleonic," he stated, sounding a little bored. Viewed conventionally, black armor covered him head to toe and the man looked like he could punch out a train without breaking a sweat.
The enormous battle axe he carried looked like it could split a train in two.

"So very tiresome!" the Jack yelled, landing on three limbs with his sword to the side, regaining his footing and pursuing Petrachkov as the Ghoster landed behind him. "No time for you!" he yelled back at the Ghoster, pursuing Petrachkov towards the Dreighton Mall.

The armored female deflected each of the blades, though Catalena quickly recovered them through telekinesis. The broken bridge behind her led to the only exit that wasn't blocked by the rapidly spinning assassin.

Pullman had only ever seen armor like that on broadcasts or pictures. He’d never actually been around any, much less a person wearing some. He felt a rush of something, but he wasn’t sure what it was. It wasn’t fear, even though he knew that’s probably what it should have been.
Realization dawned and he raised an eyebrow, smirking. “Oh. Eureka.”
He knew what it was now. He was excited.
Pullman hummed an old song—something by the immortal Tommy Tutone, he remembered—as he flipped open his cell phone for the second time in the same hour.
“Izzy, come n’ play.”

It wouldn't seem like Patrick could run fast with the rifle on his back.
This was a misconception. Any man in danger for his life could run like a maniac. He went flying down the bridge as fast as anyone had probably ever run down the bridge. Hopefully the Ghoster was going to catch up, since Patrick couldn't engage this man on his own terms.

Catalena snatched her blades back, got her shoes to float to her, and threw the swords back in again, keeping them in a dance around the assassin while she continued to back away, never letting her eyes leave the opponent. She was ready to break into a run the moment the attacker began pursuit, which she surely would soon, excluding a projectile attack of some kind. She wanted to get into the person's mind... but that would take concentration away from the flashing swords, which came back to her every time they were tossed from the spear. Their attacks were not calculated; it was more that they were kept in range of the opponent and moving, rather than making many defined slashes. Every now and then, one would thrust towards a joint or move to flip out of the way of a strike that might damage it, but they were still primarily distractions until Catalena could reach the mall. Catalena knew that whatever happened, she had to keep her distance.

"I'm afraid it's time for you to leave this life," Issaquah informed their assailant, his shadowy form reaching to the ground. Cracks ran along the ground and he hefted a rather large chunk of the floor. "It's been fun, Mr..."
"The Black Rook," he announced, swinging his axe at Issaquah. Issaquah deflected the axe with a swing of his bludgeoning object, spun, and put the object to good use against the tanklike man's head.
"A rook is an impenetrable castle!" the assassin taunted, pulling his axe into a backswing. Issaquah dodged backwards.
"Sure all the head trauma isn't starting to get to you?" he retorted.

Catalena felt her foot almost slip and stopped. She'd reached the break in the bridge.
"End of the line, dear!" the woman taunted, knocking the blades away with calculated motions. She took a step forward and went into a jumping spin at Catalena.

Patrick made it inside, losing sight of both of those following him - he might be able to lose himself in the crowd, or he might get taken by surprise in it, if he stayed. Alternatively, he could try to move on and get to the military's restricted bridge.

Patrick decided to stay. He could lose himself OR he could hunt out his enemy in a fresh environment. Wait - first he needed to try and find... ammo. If he had the UMP or the sniper rifle, he could break the man's advantage, find a hiding place and eliminate the target from it.
Wait. Ammo was in the tower. He needed to get across the bridge then. That was critical. He started moving through the crowd, trying to push through as quickly as possible. If he could run, he could be there within a few minutes.
He got started.

The Black Rook swung again and the Demon-Minor that vaguely resembled an unindentifiable man in a suit surrounded by (and partially made up of) a shifting, smoky darkness fled. The Black Rook followed after, bringing his axe over his head for yet another strike…
…only to have the weapon suddenly yanked from his hands. The Black Rook fell on his a** as Issaquah flickered into being, towering over him with the axe in hand. He motioned ahead, pointing out a duplicate version of himself which waved back at them before dissipating into the ether.
“Decoy, Mr. Rook,” the silhouette-man said.
It had been a classic ruse; Issaquah had gone invisible at precisely the same moment he’d created a phantom copy and sent it running away. Now, the Black Rook was stuck lying on the aeropad and staring up at the demon as it raised his own weapon to turn his head into the aftermath of a Gallagher act.
“Head trauma’s about to get a whole lot worse, friend,” Issaquah chuckled and brought the axe down.

"FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU"
THWUNK‼
The Black Rook rolled to the side and lost about a quarter of his helmet. Blood sprayed onto the ground from the man's head; a severed ear lay on the ground.
"You win this time," he muttered. He pulled a bag from inside his left gauntlet and opened it, spraying a fine powder onto himself. With a flash, he disappeared.
"An escape route. Of course. Good move, Demonologist, I guess the Necroguild didn't send us a p***y Journeyman like we thought they would," Blackstone said, inspecting the area for any residue of the powder. "I'll check on the others - you can stay here, you can clearly handle yourself." Blackstone opened the floor hatch to the inside of the spire and ran into-
"Petrachkov?"
"No time, sir, assassin coming," Petrachkov replied, slamming a UMP clip into his weapon.
"Well, s**t," Blackstone replied, holstering a pistol then arming himself with a sword and shield off of two racks across from each other.

His job done, Issaquah nodded to his master and collapsed in on himself, dropping the axe abruptly and slithering his way towards Pullman’s shadow until he was absorbed into it.
As Blackstone commended him, Pullman made his way over to the spot where the demon had struck the Black Rook. From the tiny, dark pool of blood, he picked up the severed ear and brought it close to his lips.
“Can you hear me now, ********?” he said, laughing. He turned to see Blackstone and some other person—Petrachkov—talking.
“Assassin?” he inquired. “Does this mean we get to maim more people?”
