Chubbs squished his way back into his unit, he just had a shower this morning, now he needed another. Shutting the door behind him, he headed to the bathroom and stripped down, putting his clothes in a plastic bag, and slid into a nice warm shower.

Chubbs scrubbed himself down with the bar of soap, he started humming to himself, a familiar tune. He couldn't quite remember where he'd heard it, than it finally dawned on him, and with in the safety of the shower, he began to sing.

" Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, myyyy loooooove, my darrrliing I've hunnnngered forr
yourrrr touch, a longggg lonley tiime"

Chubbs scrubbed at his chest and got a little louder

" And tiiiiime, goeees byyy, so slowly.... and tiiiime can do sooo much"

Chubbs held his arms out wide

" Arrrrre youuu, Still MIIIIIIIIIIIIINEEEeeeeiiiii need you love, IIIIIIII need your love, God speed your love, tooowooowoooo, meeeee!"

Chubbs turned off the shower and slid out of it, towel wrapped around his middle and dancing as he sang, voice echoing out into the street.

"Lonely rivers flowwwto the sea, to the sea,.....to the waiting arms of the seaaaaayeaaah......Lonely rivers cry, wait for me, wait for meeee, ... I'll be coming home, wait for meeeeeee"

Chubbs standing in the middle of the room , sang louder, his deep voice resounding out into the open air

" Woaaaaaaaaaaaa, myyyy looooooove, my darrling... I've hungered, HUNGERED foor yourrr touch, Aaa long, lonely tiiiime"

" Annnd tiiiime gooooooes byyy, so slooowly, and tiime can do soo much, Areeeee youuu stiiill MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE!!"

" IIIII NEEEEEEEEEEEEEED YOUUUUR LOOOOOVE, III IIIII need your love, God speeeeed your love, tooowooowooo meeeeeeeeeeee!"

"dun dun dun dun dun dun duuuuun"

Chubbs bowed to an invisible audience and started putting on his clothes.

Chubbs had an stretch, he had slept in late, way late. He had meant to spend the day getting fit again, working on his training. He needed a win against who ever his oppenent was. Chubbs stepped into the shower and got himself smelling good. Changing into his sweater and some baggy pants, he decided he'd take a run on the beach.

Dark News on the Beach

Chubbs had started to get himself ready for the upcoming match he had with lord knows who. He found the beach was quiet when he was here with Colche it would be a good spot to run. He needed a good few laps up and down the sand to get him back to working order, too many twinkies and cigarettes had him a little worse for wear.

He had his pants rolled up and sleeves as well, he didnt like his shoes, they were steel cap boots, and they were the only pair he could afford, they were a little small and long periods wearing them would squash his toes. Chubbs ran along the sand, trying to gain speed if he could.

Coming around a corner of the beach he spied people there. He hated running in front of people they usually just stared and whispered like he was some freak. One was a guy, he looked like he could have been one of the fighters he was against. So Chubbs decided not to show him any weakness and sprinted as best he could, looking like he hadn't seen them.

A glint caught his eye and he peered sidways, one of the girls he was talking to had scales on her, not alot but they were there. Chubbs found himself staring a little and wondered how long halloween lasted exactly. Just then he felt his foot catch on some drift wood and he came crashing down

" Son of a Bifffmfmffff"

Face down into the sand

"Plant?" Amaya would have laughed if the thought of turning into a plant didn't scare her so much. "No, I highly doubt it. I think I'm turning into some sort of lizard... I don't know for sure yet." She then looked at Jamal, having no idea what exactly happened at the cafeteria, but chalked it up to seeing two people having turned 50%. "Ah, I see." Amaya left it at that, neither of them probably wanted to dive into the subject.

Having not even noticed the large man before he fell, she jumped with a start as her eyes went wide. "Oh god!" Jumping up, she ran over to him, lifting one of his arms with a LOT of effort and a grunt. "Are... are you okay?!"

Anjali stared at both Amaya and Jamal. "You mean... they haven't told you what experiment they're performing on you? Really?" She was shocked - this went against every bit of laboratory ethics she'd been taught. Well.. the entire thing did, but for some reason this rated a bit of extra surprise. "I... I know what I'm turning into. A sundew. Yes, that's a plant," she added, to forestall any questions.

Then she turned around in surprise as something fell - and she scrambled to her knees as well, startled. "Goodness - are you quite well?" she asked, concerned, but not getting up since Amaya seemed to have things well in hand. No need to mob the man.

Chubbs heard voices around him, nice ones seeming concerned. This place was so odd, so many nice people, if it weren't for the kids he'd never leave. Though right now he wished he was an ostrich to bury his head in the sand.

He sat himself up, eyes closed till he could get the sand away from his eyes.

" By mimn mow bey were fervin fand for wunch"

He sputtered some of the sand in his mouth, even in the situation he was in, his humour reflex still kicked in. He tried to chuckle while getting the sand from his face.

Amaya laughed slightly, holding the man's free arm as she stood to try and help him up even though she had to hold it up with both arms. "Y'alright?" The thought that he was new around didn't occure to her yet, the fact he had just fallen flat on his face over-concerning that.

Anjali chuckled - whoever this big man was, he had a sense of good humour about him. "That was quite an entrance," she said, smiling at him as she settled back in the sand. "Are you alright? I'm Anjali, by the way," she said, offhand. Three introductions in as many minutes, my.

Chubbs chuckled and dusted his face, clearing his mouth of sand as he heard Anjali introduce himself. His cheeks already red from blushing.

" Hold on, lemme just see if i got sand in my eye"

He opened his eyes slowly, then blinked a bit, making sure. It was fine to see, and he turned to closely look at his carers. Woa!

Chubbs pondered if he was cursed to look like an a** in front of every attractive girl he saw. Both of them were very pretty, and he found himself redder than before. Like most cases, humour was replaced by nervousness like a smack to the back of the head.

" Oh umm G'day... ah... which.. er.. Anjali?"

The girl that helped him up, he could see the scales now, he found himself glancing alot, and pondered if him and Colche hung out alot.

"Good to see your alright." Amaya smiled and then took a seat, having wanted to shake his hand but had the thought finally occure to her that he was new and it would probably make him stare at her more so then he already was. "Names Amaya." She forced a tiny smile before tucking her legs to her chest and hugging her arms underneath them, digging her long toes into the sand. She really... really didn't want to tell another person.

Anjali nodded, faintly puzzled - but, then again, she'd be rattled if she'd had a fall like that. "Yes, and you are?" she said, politely. "And, to get that out of the way, do you know what you're turning into yet? Animal, plant?" Finding that Amaya and Jamal didn't know was rather worrisome.... but then, Sean had known, as had Ambrose. Hm.

It had never crossed Anjali's mind that anyone would NOT know, period, about what was happening...

Chubbs looked between them, smiling somewhat in his polite ways. He told himself not to say anything stupid, but then, how could he embaress himself further than now?

" Amaya, and ah Anjali... i'll um try to remember them"

Chubbs brushed himself down a bit, trying to get the sand off him.

" Oh my name... it's ...it's Chubbs"

He picked up his cap and dusted it off carefully, it was his favourite and lucky cap, he didnt want to see it worn out too much.

" Turning into?..."

Chubbs looked up and then made himself comfortable in the sand, looking between the two quizically. He thought he finally caught on, but had to make sure.

" Umm is ther like.. some costume party I missed hearin about. Cuz um.. I'm still new here and... ah.. met like two.. no three people... no wait!, both you that makes five. Um well anyway, there was this girl in like cat stuff annd I think she's not too well. But umm.. well you look good though"

He motioned to Amaya with a smile think blinked

" Not that I mean you know that you're hot.. but well you are just.. ah.. oh... I didn't say anything!"

Chubbs put his hands over his face and hoped meteorites were aiming for him.

Amaya blinked in surprise at Anjali's directness, eyes widdening as she looked up at her.

She couldn't help but laugh at Chubbs he was pretty funny in a cute, nervous way.

Though her smile quickly faded as she let out a sigh. "No, it's not a costume party or anything... I guess no one has told you?" She looked up, not really surprised. She would be the barer of bad news AGAIN.

Anjali looked startled, then frowned in Amaya's direction. "You mean... they don't tell you right off...?" Well, no... she hadn't been told either. She'd had to go and ask. But once she'd asked, they'd told her alright - why wouldn't any of these people just ask the doctors if they were faced with such odd things? It had worked for her!

She realized Chubbs was waiting for some kind of answer. "Ah..." She shot Amaya a pleading look. How did you go about this? Unlike Sean, she had no changes to point to as proof. Nothing at all. "I... Amaya, could you..." she said with a sigh, promising inwardly to make it up to the girl later.

Chubbs rubbed his face, widhing the red would come off, then as he listened to them, he heard a twinge of seriousness in their voices. He peered curiously at them.

" Um.. something the matter? "

"They don't tell anyone straight off unless you ask. A lot of people are too scared to... I know I am." Amaya then looked from Chubbs then Anjali and back again with a sigh. She really, REALLY didn't want to do this. Chubbs seemed like a REALLY nice guy... she didn't want to crush whatever hopes the lie they had given him created. But like she had noticed before, she was the only one around with changes to prove her point.

With a deep, heavy sigh, Amaya's shoulders visably slumped and she curled tighter into a ball. "Whatever they told you to get you to come here was a lie. They're just raking people in with false jobs and promises so they can make you vanish. The immunization they gave you was fake... it's actually a starter to a process that... changes you into an animal... see?" She went to raise her foot from the sand, but stopped short, burying her head in her arms and forcing it up so he could see.

Amaya just wanted to cry, but couldn't bring herself to as she curled her long, disfigured toes in front of him to show they weren't fake. "You can even pull on them and my scales. Their real. I'm turning into some kind of lizard." Her voice was muffled by her knees, but she kept from looking up. Green eyes didn't want to witness the look of dred or his reaction after realization hit.

Anjali felt suddenly very guilty indeed about leaving it all to Amaya, and she quickly got up to lay one hand on the girl's shoulder, giving it a comforting squeeze. "It's true," she said, defensively, almost glaring at Chubbs, daring him to call Amaya a liar when it had obviously taken so much for her to say what she had. "Even though you can't tell with me, because I haven't reached that point yet... it's true. There are others in the village who are further along, Chubbs... you can see for yourself..." Her voice trailed off, and she merely squeezed Amaya's shoulder again.

Chubbs listened, and listened well, and blinked. That was some joke they were telling, he knew if he looked at any time that he believed them and asked " really?", they'd laugh and points and say " fooled you".

He raised a brow, turning people into animals? but how? He looked down at the clawed feet of Amaya, it was too good, it was there, in his face. How could it be? Why didnt people stop this?

It hit him, when he spoke to Joliette, they were really stuck here and he joked about it. It was all too much to sink in at once, it felt so damn unreal, yet Colche and Amaya just slapped the truth in his face.

He keeped looking between the two girls, waiting, hoping now that they were joking, his face wearing disbelief. Amaya though seemed upset, she almost sounded though she would cry. And Anjali, she looked angry at him, for what?, not knowing what was going on?

He bit his lip, he didn't want people upset, it's the worse thing to see. Chubbs did what he thought was best for now, hoping that under the circumstances, it was the right thing to do.

And he got up and hugged them both.

" I'm sorry"

Amaya's body shuddered and she wanted nothing more then to dive into Anjali and bawl her eyes out... but for now her eyes were dry, unable to get a single tear.

Then Chubbs hugged her and uttered something she had heard a lot of recently. But this time it... it was...

She face scrunched up and she hugged him back, burrying her head in his large shoulder and grasping the back of his shirt in her clawed fingers, bursting into uncontrolable tears.

Anjali was surprised at the big man's reaction, to say the least - but she allowed the hug for a few seconds, before gracefully stepping aside and leaving it all to Amaya. The younger girl needed it far, far more than she did at this point.

"I'm sorry," she said, meaning the apology for Amaya and Chubbs both, as she hovered awkwardly nearby.

Chubbs looked up at Anjali, seeing her move away. Maybe she didn't want it, but it's all he could do to express himself. His eyes got a bit watery, he felt a little rejected. Amaya though hugged him back and he looked down at her. She was crying and he didn't want her to, he wanted to make it all better.

He sniffed, swallowed hard, and finally took a breath. He wrapped his arms about the girl and petted her back. It still felt so unreal, but what he saw before him was, not the scales, but the tears. Chubbs' mouth openned, he wanted to speak, something that'd help, something that'd make her not cry anymore.

He took a chance, wishing his good natured humour might cheer her up a bit.

" At least ya better looking than me?"

Through her tears she managed a smile and coughed between them, an odd form of laughing she had developed whenever she was crying. After sniffling a bit, she finally broke the hug, using the palms of her hands to wipe at her eyes. "S-Sorry... I c-cry too much." She was still trying to speak through sobs, the last bit of tears falling from her eyes.

"You have a right to cry," Anjali said firmly to Amaya, then smiled at Chubbs. "Thank you for your kindness, sir. I hope this won't be too much of a shock." Of course it would be. How could it not? But for the sake of politeness, she could pretend.

Chubbs, smiled, but sadly. She had laughed a bit, he was happy for that, for now he'd be here for her till he wasn't needed. He looked up at Anjali, trying his best to listen though his mind was racing. He petted Amaya's back and smiled shyly at Anjali.

" Well ... it is.... I don't think my hearts beating"

He smiled sadly again, always humour to obscure his other feelings. Thoughts kept popping in to his mind, what was this place, what was he to become, why was everyone here? He'd thought he'd ask.

" Why haven't people been told?"

Amaya sniffled and smiled at Anjali. She was right... but crying all the time when other could hold it in still made her feel like a weakling. Ambrose had said they all have to be brave... she had to be brave. Of course that was easier said then done since she was actually scared shitless.

To Chubbs' question she shrugged. "I think the staff just likes to give us all the hard work and have to handle all the emotional drama that comes with it." She slumped, but was grateful for the comforting the large man was giving her and it helped her calm down. "I've had to tell... three people, I think."

"And would they have gotten you here if they'd told you the truth - you can't ever leave and you'll be transformed into a beast or plant or god only knwos what else?" Anjali added, gently, then shook her head. "While I suppose it might be interesting to some people... I know I didn't come here with that intention. I assume nobody else did either."

Chubbs slowly let go of Amaya, he felt she may not like him hanging onto her all day, but he listened to her and saddened, Still petting her back for comfort, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a twinkie in a sealed wrapper, it had survived the spill. Chubbs placed it in her hand with a small smile, twinkies made lots of things better.

" I'm sorry.. I didn't know... I didn't mean.. for ya.. to like.. do it again"

Chubbs pondered now on the fact that he was here and that he was going to change. Into what? he had seen two people with different looks. He looked up to Anjali as she spoke.

" There's a girl... um.. a kinda strange girl... no..not in looks I mean"

He couldn't help but blush thinking about the day before

" She was very happy, um... Colche I think she was"

Chubbs nodded, finding it odd he remembered a name. Then he blinked and loooked to them both

" Oh and I meant, ah.. why hasn't anyone..you know... called like police?"

The young girl blinked and looked at the twinkie, thinking the gesture really weird but sweet. Giving a small laugh, she unwrapped it and popped one side into her mouth. Her new tastebuds didn't like it very much, but she used to like twinkies and it would be rude to not eat it.

Hearing Colche's name, she perked up. "Oh, Colche?" She smiled. "She's really sweet, I think she was abused before she came here though so... she would seen kind of weird, I guess." The thought of her being sexually abused was still kind of a touchy subject, so she didn't bring it up.

As for his other question, she shrugged. Removing the twinkie once more, she spoke only what she could guess. "They might be paying people off to keep it a secret. What they're doing isn't exactly legal... and we don't have any way to contact people ourselves."

"I haven't met anyone called Colche, I'm afraid," Anjali said, shaking her head. "And... well, if anyone could find a working phone, or a radio or any means of communication... we would. But... well." She sighed, then smiled wearily at both of them.

"I'm sorry, I'm getting a bit hungry ... I'm going to head in to get some food from the cafeteria. But it was lovely meeting you, Amaya, Chubbs. My home is in number 17, please don't hesitate to visit if you'd ever like." She inclined her head graciously to them before unearthing her flip-flops and heading back to the village.

Chubbs thought about the marks he had seen on Colche and what Amaya said about her, it really did look that way.

" Yeah.. the was um, a lil pushy and a bit over friendly, .. umm she had these scars all over her ..."

Chubbs cut himself short, and stopped the motion of his hand going up and down his fron. He cheeks fired red once more and realised what he was saying. He blessed all things holy that Anjali took the attention as she said her good byes.

" Umm.. nice to meet you too... ermm, sorry bout the hug"

He bit his lower lip, hoping she heard it as she left. Then with a shy smile he turned back to Amaya

"Bye Anjali, it was really nice meeting you." Amaya smiled and waved with her free hand as the woman left. Number 17... she'd have to remember that. Wait, didn't that mean she had been here longer then her and still haden't changed? ... Then again, she was supossedly turning into a plant, so it probably haden't worked. How would it?

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure she was... sexually abused before they brought her here. Considering that, she's been really happen and stuff ever since she came here. I guess now she's just starting to learn what the world is." She finished off half of her twinkie, not seeming to notice his blush... afterall, to even look up at him she had to crane her neck rather far since he was well over a foot taller then her and probably five times as big.

"So uh... what did they tell you to get you to come here?" Amaya asked, finally craning her neck to look up at him, the half of a twinkie stiking from her mouth.

Chubbs sighed and rested his arms on his knee's, thinking about Colche. Part of him wanted to be where the people responsible for her were and beat the living s**t out of them till his hands bled.

" Need to teach her that clothes are spose to be worn"

Chubbs looked up at Amaya and wondered if the shock would ever die down, it really did feel like his heart had stopped. He needed a drink. He pulled out his wallet from his back pocket and opened it up, showing Amaya the picture inside.

" I came here for them"

He held it out to her for her to take if she wanted a closer look. It was starting to sink in now, he was never going to see them again, and if he did, it'd not be him they saw.

" I needed the money to build a place to train them, all I'm good at is fighting, I was offered a boxing match with a large sum to help me out"

Amaya couldn't help but laugh slightly while finishing the twinkie. Well, at least she knew she could still tolerate sugary things. It didn't bother her much that Colche was nude to her either, since well... she was a girl. Blinking, she looked at the photo...

Her heart sank. "That's... awful." She looked down at her disfigured feet, wrapping her arms around her knees. "I'm sure they'll miss you..." She paused. "I wish they would only bring people here like me. No one to miss them when they're gone. It would make things so much easier on people."

Chubbs sat himelf in the same position, it looked awkward but it felt good to him.

" I'm sure you are missed, even if you think you are not. And... umm to look at a brighter, well er.. side to things, maybe the people here, well... they need you."

Chubbs was hoping what he said made sense, he didn't tend to make much in front of a girl.

" What I mean is.. well umm look at me.. if you hadn't been here, I might have had a heart attack finding out some other way"

He smiled lightly and rested his chin on his arms, looking over her scales

" Did it hurt?"

"Maybe, but the few friends I had back in the states knew I was never coming back." Amaya gave a small shrug, still not mentioning anything about her parents. "But yeah... I try to see it that way. That I'm here for the others, to kind of help us all get through this."

Upon the question she blinked and looked up at him. "Huh? ... Oh." Looking at her scales she frowned. "Yeah, though it's only the first change out of... four, I think. I can't imagine what it'll be like later..." She trailed off for a moment. "My feet and... tail... hurt the most." It was the first time she admitted to anyone she actually had a tail, but since it was only a little nub, it was pretty easy to hide.

Chubbs blinked. Four?! there were four changes?! How could you go through that many. He saw the look on Amays face as she told him it hurt to change, jesus, least the could do was make is not physically traumatising if it were to be mental. She even had a tail. Chubbs was starting do feel really pissed, how could they do this to these people thatd been so nice? That Sabin... if he saw him again, bones would be broken.

He tried not to show the anger on his face

" I hope I don't end up.. like a pig or something. I...."

Chubbs decided they needed a laugh

" Can you see me like this?"

And with that he pushed his nose up to make a snout.

Frowning, she looked up at him. Her eyes went wide and she burst into laughter.

After calming down, she breathed out a sigh. "Well, you could always hit that '0' button on the pad in your room and ask what they're turning you into. I haven't just out of fear, but a few people have." She shrugged, still smiling as she rested her chin in her palms.

Chubbs remembered the button Sabin told him about on the intercom. He was going to push it tomorrow to find out about his fight. Chubbs scratched his chin, then nodded slowly.

" I guess I can..."

He pondered what to do now, it felt so useless just sitting here. It was nice though, there were nice people, people that didn't shun him for his size. Well of course they didn't, they were being changed, to judge him would be to judge themselves.

Chubbs' thoughts ran through his head, fight, stay, escape. What would he do? He blinked, a thought came to mind and he looked about, wondering if they were being watched. He then leant over to Amaya and began to whisper.

Amaya leaned in to hear him, her eyes widdening. "Well... wow. Guess you could do that." She smiled, thinking it might actually work before a thought occured to her.

"... Crap, wait." A sigh escaped her mouth and she grabbed the black hoodie that had been laying behind her, dusting the sand off. "Doctor Moreau has some magic way of conking us out. At the Halloween party awhile ago someone hit Moreau and all he had to say was "Subject Carroll Sleep" and he was out if it... you could probably try, though."

After making sure her hoodie was mostly clean, she pulled it on over her figureless form, dusting what sand had gotten onto it during the process. "Escape seems really hopeless when you add in that factor..."

Chubbs almost pouted. Of course others had to have thought about escape, or even tried, but this magic sleep s**t? It was a big let down, he thought he had a good idea. Maybe it could still work, somehow. Chubbs sighed.

" I need people... I need them to need me, like those kids. They make me feel like I have a purpose... I.. I dunno if I can lose that."

Chubbs slowly got to his feet, dusting himself as he did. He felt angy, he usually didn't feel like this.

" Sleep or no sleep, they'll learn soon enough"

Chubbs dusted off his sleeves. He needed something to feel better, turning to Amaya he smiled lightly.

" Umm.... come on... we need ice cream"

He held out his hand

Amaya smiled and took his hand, standing up with a jump since he could probably hold all her weight on one hand. Her free hand remained in the pocket of her hoodie. "Not sure if I can eat ice cream. Ever since I changed I'm cold-blooded now... I might just have to call it a night since I'm getting a little chilly." She shivered, her hand the only thing really warm because she was still holding Chubbs'.

As they walked towards the duplex's and cafeteria, she looked up at him. "Think if I call it a night you'll be okay?"

Chubbs looked over at her, he couldn't feel the cold, he was hotter than heck with his hand in a girls, made him tingle. He couldn't let Amaya go round like this, he made an " O" face as she explained about her cold bloodedness. Letting go of her hand, he pulled his sweater off, he was warm anyway, he had a black t-shirt on underneath.

Chubbs draped it over her shoulders and hoped he didn't smell. He did shower and deoderised just before the beach.

" I'll....I'll... be okay... it's all setling in"

He decided to walk her home instead. Something of a habit forming. Chubbs, the escort service. He blushed immediately thinking that like a male prostitute.

" Remind me to cook ya a batch of Chubby chilli... it'll umm, warmya right back"

Amaya smiled up at him, pulling the sweater he gave her around her form. Despite having a hoodie on, she was still somewhat cold. The heat she normally gathered up was only generated by the sun, which now that it was gone had quickly started to fade away.

"I'd love to try some." She gave him a genuine smile and stopped once she was in front of her duplex, number 20. "Well, just take care okay? If you need anything, don't hesitate to come get me." A clawed finger pointed to the number 20 on her door as she opened it.

Chubbs nodded and smiled, looking up at her duplex.

" Same goes for you.. if.. erm.. ya need me .. for.. well whatever"

He rubbed the back of his head, blushing slightly. Looking to the way to his duplex, he started towards his room.

" Thanks again"

He waved back to Amaya

Amaya nodded and waved as well. "Bye Chubbs, it was nice meeting you!" And with that she vanished into her room, closing the door behind her.

Chubbs slumped back into his room, not the man he was when he left here moments ago. He found the edge of the bed and sat down in the dark, stirring in his own thoughts. Maybe if he slept, he'd wake up and this would all be a bad dream. He thumped his fist on the bed, over and over, wanting to scream out and break something. He turned to the intercom and looked. Amaya told him, if he pressed 0, he could ask them.

For a long time Chubbs wanted something like that in his life, where he felt he wasn't good for anything. Someone with all the answers, someone to dial and say " What am I?". He needed to know, to find out what was to become of him. It was late, he figured no one would answer. Tomorrow he would try, Hopefully he'd get what he wanted.

Chubbs layed down, staring at the intercom. He couldn't sleep, he was wide awake and he felt sick to his stomach. What were the kids going to do when he didn't come back. He kept them off the streets, their minds busy, off of ideas like joining gangs. He was worried about them, and he found that he would be all night, while staring at the intercom.

Awen Zyn
Awen waved a little bit. "See you around Kim. Hope to play you sometime." She grinned and leaned back on her chair.

Thinking better she scooter her chair closer to Jamal and leaned against his shoulder. "Let me win...ppfft." She giggled and glanced up at him. "You're about as good at video games as I am at speaking ghetto.... decent, but not great." Taking a deep breath she nuzzled his shoulder.

How many more people was the Doctor going to bring to the island...? When will enough...be enough? She couldn't break it to her then, bad subject change really. She'll probably have to talk to her later, after all they were neighbours.

"...okay so yous got me there," he admitted grudgingly, wrapping an arm lazily about her middle. "But hows about yous play some ball 'gainst me...then dat be a diff'rent story. Even though' I be callin' ya Shorty fo' a reason....you ain't gonna have such good luck tryin' ta steal da ball." Jamal snickered affectionately but grew more somber as Kim disappeared completely.

"So...she be pretty new from what I found out. Didn't ask none 'bout why I was herr but I figure she ain't knowin' the real deal."

Chubbs MacKraken
" How the heck are you supposed to find anything here?"

Chubbs was walking around in the village. rugged up in his usual sweater and jeans, looking around the building. He decided to set up his punching bag, which he was carrying. It was heavy, but he didnt want to run back and forth trying to get the right gear for the job. So hoisted on his shoulder the bag sat.

Chubbs frowned, he'd been walking all over the place. He really needed a map of some kind. The smells from the cafeteria were wafting over his nose. He always had a good smell for food. Looking over at the building, he saw people inside. One was the guy from the day before, he was sure of it. God he fell flat on his face in front of him, Chubbs couldn't help but grow red.

He took the chance to see if either of them knew where the tools were, and walking up to the door, he pulled it open slightly and stuck his head in.

Awen Zyn
Awen nodded slowly at the change in tone, he was saying really what she was thinking. "So it seems. She's too happy really to know... unless the Doc is actually telling people now adays?"

Awen had a sudden thought, so wrapped up in the thought she didn't see the man pop his head in the door. "Jamal, don't you think someone's going to get wise to this sooner or later?" She said rather hopefully. "I mean... my friends know I'm gone to an island for therapy. They fully expect me back one day, and others I'm sure have people thye left behind that knew something of where they were going." She smiled brightly. "Maybe there's still a chance they'll find us and stop this huh?"

She spoke rather loudly with excitement at the idea of being saved, not thinking anyone would over hear...except maybe the kitchen staff but they already knew anyway so it didn't matter. She had no idea anyone else might have heard...

Jamal_Reedy
"I ain't countin' on him tellin' anybody anythin'," Jamal said curtly, a flit of displeasure crossing his broad features, lip curled in a similar manner like when he was mouthing 'no'. "I figger he ain't gonna tell peeps cause it prolly betta and more safe fo' him. Da man be a ********' coward. I ain't seen his face once yet. Prolly cause he knows what I done and I ain't afraid to beat his a**." Jamal didn't know that Moreau had been assaulted already once and what the outcome was, but he probably would still stick with his words.

At the mention of people perhaps searching the small band of islanders out, he tried not to be too optimistic. "I figger too dat most of us herr weren't plannin' on stayin' long...so maybe all them searchers get togetha one day and find us. Maybe." He absently brushed her arm with a finger before the sound of the door opening caught his attention.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs tried to look like he was not looking at the two in the cafeteria, but what else was there to look at? food? Chubbs shifted the bag on his shoulder. He was glad that he caught their attention so he didnt have to interupt too much.

The food was really getting to him though, something smelled damn good and his tummy growled audibly. Chubbs blinked and grew bright red, and quickly decided to ask what he was here for.

" Umm.. er.. would, y-you happen, to know where there's umm... like a tool shed?"

Awen Zyn
Awen blinked up at the big man. Wow he was taller than Jamal and...well big-er. She wasn't thinking that rudely at all, she was just the small frame type, by nature not really by too much choice. But it's not like the guy looked bad or anything. Actually at first glance, especially with the way he seemed so shy Awen pegged him as the teddy bear type.

Smiling slightly she shook her head. "I haven't seen anything like that here, sorry. Maybe if you call Doctor Moreau he'd order some for you?" As much as she hated the Doctor he did provide a lot of things and was quite helpful.

She leaned forward away from Jamal a moment and held out her hand. "I'm Awen Zyn by the way."

Jamal_Reedy
He glanced up, now hearing a voice, hardly looking put off by the appearance of a vaguely familiar man. Eyes darted around the cafeteria for a moment as though trying to search out a place where tools might be kept, but he couldn't even place where the entertainment room was half the time, let alone a bunch of tools were.

"Sorry man, I ain't got no idea," he finally admitted, sitting up straighter. "I ain't even heard of one bein' out herr...if they ain't got 'em, I bet yous could put in a request for 'em like Awen said."

After Awen introduced herself, he did likewise, only without the extended hand. "I think I seen you b'fo...ain't sure we got names through cause I hadda run so fast. Da names Jamal."

Chubbs MacKraken
Ah the introductory phase, it was hard to get through, like a barrier. Chubbs thought though that the people on this island were pretty cool though, maybe he'd stop being so shy. He walked inside and put the bag up against the wall and made his way over shly to the pair. With a grip of the offered hand by Awen, he shook it lightly and then offered his own to Jamal. He introduced himself with his own australian flavoured voice.

" Ah, G'day, .. I'm Chubbs.. and um.. glad to meet ya. Oh and.. um thanks any way"

Awen Zyn
Awen pushed out a chair with her foot before settling back onto semi-leaning on Jamal. "Nice to meet you Chubbs have a seat hm?"

The gears were already turning in her mind. He didn't seem to know, but then, how could she know? Neither her nor Jamal had changed... and who knows if Chubbs actually knew or not.

"What do you need tools for anyway? Just curious of course." She would play it safe for now. Even if she wanted to tell the truth she had some tact about it.

Jamal_Reedy
Jamal shook the offered hand, now that it was free, and was briefly amazed at the man's sheer size. He looked to be just a bit taller than Jamal...certainly wider and more massive all around. It gave the black man some pause, realizing his "big man" on the island title was pretty much gone. Oh well. "Chubbs," he said, trying the strange name out on his tongue before nodding in agreement to Awen's offer of a chair and her question about the necessity of tools.

"Saw ya carryin' something," he said in a non-accusatory manner, also curious.

Joliette Rigiel
Still wearin her Gi having not bothered to change out of them she wandered into the cafeteria in search of food, she peered around and saw 3 familair faces, only 2 of which she had properly met "Hello" she said softly in her thick accent

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs looked down at the chair, damn, it wasn't often people wanted him to sit with the, he was almost speachles. He sat down quietly, praying and hoping the damn thing wouldn't break.

" Oh .. umm.. brought me a bag to train on.. but um... feel bit stupid now... but hey.. it's an okay way to like.. get ya frustrations out on"

He smiled sadly, trying his best to keep up good spirits

" I need to hang it up,.. um somewhere... need a hook and a drill"

He twiddled his thumbs nervously, looking between them both.

" I can always use it for a scratching post if I'm a cat huh?"

Chubbs blinked and then went red.

" Oh s**t!"

Then he slapped a hand over his mouth. It hadn't occured to him that they might not have known. Oh he was in deep crap. Then he heard a familiar voice and turned to see Joliette. He almsot saw her as a guardian angel rescuing him from the grave he was digging himself. He waved to he and hoped the attention would fall on her.

Awen Zyn
She turned to Joliette and gave her a polite smile, but really she was mid train of thought at Chubbs' reaction. She would deal with that...

Awen sighed with relief. "So you do know." She was glad she wasn't going to have to tell somebody else. "Don't worry though.... I've been here over a month and Jamal's reaching the month mark..um..soon right?" She tilted her head at Jamal thinking yeah it's been about a month.. "So yeah we know. You'd make a cute cat I'm sure, though I honestly peg you as a teddy bear." She giggled a little bit.

She now turned her attention to Joli. "Hi Joli." She held a gestured hand out to Joliette. "Jamal, this is Joliette." She paused and gestured to Jamal. "Joliette this is the imfamous Jamal." She giggled a little bit.

Jamal_Reedy
"..Don't worry none, Chubbs. We both knowin' what's gonna happen," he said with a slightly dejected sigh. "At least, the changin' part. I ain't got no idea what ********' animal they turnin' me into." And jesus christ, ANYTHING but a cat. He loathed the fuzzy bastards...too small to be any good and too needy.

As Joliette was introduced, he grimaced. "Oh...yeah...yous came into the cafeteria that day, didn't ya? I know I seen ya before."

Jamal passed Awen a suspicious look. "Oh, and I be imfamous now? This be news ta me."

Joliette Rigiel
She walked up to the group "Hi Chubbs, glad to hear you figured it out." she said with a weak smile "Hey Awen.. it is, well theres a face for a name at least" she chuckled and held a hand out towards the black man "Nice to meet you Jamal, under what seem like better circumstances then last I saw you" she said looking at the man

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs took a massive sigh of relief hearing that he didn't let the cat out of the bag so to speak. He nodded to Joliette, answering her question, then hearing Awen he went completely red. He never took compliments well and he lowered his face to hide it under his black cap.

" Awww.."

When she gigled he couldn't help but smile, he loved to here giggles, just always made him smile. Probably why he used alot of humour. He heard Jamal speak and he thought about how today was the day he was going to talk to someone.

" Umm.. Anj... oh... Angie? i think?.. um she said if ya ah, talk to .. like .. the guys on the .. intercom.. you can find out like what you are. I'm gonna talk to one of em... um hopefully... I need a few things.. couple answers... I'f ya'd like rather.. find out from me.. I.. er I can ask.. what's in you?"

Chubbs peered up a bit, enough to see their faces under his brim.

Awen Zyn
Awen couldn't help but giggle a bit more at Chubb's new reaction. This guy could be so big and scarey if he wanted to, even moreso than Jamal perhaps, but he just hid under his cap like a turtle. Hmm... maybe the Doc was gonna turn him into...?

She glanced at Jamal. "Oh I helped Joli move some stuff in duplex twenty eight, her new dark room. We couldn't move a few things so I mentioned you might help...and..maybe gushed a little bit about..um...me and you.. um being a couple." She blushed a little bit, she had just been so exstatic about it...

Ambrose Maurlias
With a flurry of movement Ambrose realized that he had made up his mind. He felt the distinct need to be around people. ANyone.... except Angelina or Emelyn. He needed company and support. And food, his stomach prodded. Comfort food if nothing else.

The cafeteria seemed the most logical solution. HE hoped to find Amaya... maybe even Greer or the Dude... but as he jogged into the large room, he stopped still. He was faced with, unlikely enough, a large group of people - none of which had begun to change. Jamal included - who the last time he had seen him he had succeeded in making him feel worse. The blue-haired girl.... he couldn't remember her name. And Joliette... who at least - last he had seen - knew and was dealing with it... and just his luck - someone he didn't know at ALL. A tower of a man with thick red sideburns.

"Ohboy..." Ambrose murmured, starting to regret his decision on the cafeteria.

Hesitating, shifting from foot to foot indecisively, he finally sucked in his pride - knowing that at LEAST three out of the four people at least KNEW, and got a tray, loaded it up with steak.... and chocolate cake.... and then took a breath before heading over to the group.

"H....hi there.." His tail gave a half-hearted wag. His cheeks were wet, and his eyes were bloodshot, if anyone was paying attention to anything other than his other, more notable, appearance.

Jamal_Reedy
Jamal gave Joliette a look of faint amusement. "Yeah...I'm hopin' I ain't gonna lose it like dat again...really." That whole thing was embarassing now that he looked back on it, but still his stomach churned unpleasantly as he remembered having to see Ambrose up close and...

He lifted his gaze and was promptly greeted with the appearance of the wolfman. He stiffened almost instantly, but then his mind started to scream at him to cool it. This was not new to him...he KNEW what was going on. Settle down...settle down ya dumbass... He managed to squish the urge to flinch for the most part.

"Hello...Ambrose," he offered, swallowing hard afterwards.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette pulled up a chair after grabbing some salad, she saw Ambrose come in as well "Hello Ambrose" she greeted. she smiled and looked back to Jamal "When reality hits it hits hard, don't worry, it can happen to any one of us. And I'd love help movin hte boxspring out of there, especially after the top matress landed on awen" she looked a lil sheepish saying that Hearing Chubbs words "I don't think I have the bravery to call up there and ask that..."

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs lowered his hat again when he got giggled at, he didn't mind, it kinda brought some merriment to the situation. Looking back up finally, hearing more company coming, Chubbs blinked as he saw Ambrose, looked down quickly and tried to focus. In his mind he spoke

. o O ( Okay, don't over react, you just saw a dog guy. He's still a guy, like yaself. Just treat him like you always wanted to be okay?)

Chubbs watched Ambrose fetch himself some food, he looked like he was feeling awkward, He had a remedy for that.

With a shy smile Chubbs offered a hand to Ambrose, a sinciere one.

" Names Chubbs, forgive me I'm a Noob"

He looked at Joliette while he still held his hand out and try to keep a smile.

" I need to know, I've.. ah.. this suspicion they'd likely.. well make me a pig... and uh, ... I can find out, if you guys want.. I mean.. I wanna be useful to ya... not just the guy that umm. makes sure ya miss out on donuts"

He smiled lightly at his joke

Awen Zyn
Feeling Jamal's muscles tense Awen gave his shoulder a little nuzzle. She was reminding him she was there for him... she looked up though at the man. He had...changed a lot more than when she last saw him. Wolf, just like Sabin had said. But still something wasn't quite right...

"Ambrose?" She tested under her breath. "I thought his name was Andy..." She shrunk down on her chair a little bit blushing, glad she hadn't said hi first or she would have made a major goof.

"Um...Hi." She said more strongly and smiled to him.

Giggling at Chubb's new joke...she was giggling a lot.... She shook her head. "I'm really too scared to know.. to be honest... I have some..suspicions..."

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose took a shaking breath as he seated himself, nodding hesitantly to Jamal. At least.... all of them knew, he reassured himself, stisll cursing his bad luck at the assortment of people in the cafeteria. At least Emelyn wasn't there...

And, beyond that.... they at least seemed to be trying to pretend things were normal.. and for now... that was good enough.

"I... hope you're doing better today, Jamal..." Ambrose forced a smile, after wiping at his eyes.

"And Hi, Joli..." He nodded to her.

He turned fully to the large man who he hadn' seen before, and looked surprised at the hand before taking it with an air of respect of the courage that he could image that it must have taken. "It's... nice to meet you, er.... Chubbs.." he smiled... although the smile didn't quite seem that enthusiastic. His voice seemed strained.

He nodded to Awen, "Yes... it's Ambrose." He confirmed.... "Though... you'll have to forgive me... your name was...?"

He sliced roughly at a piece of steak, chewing it roughly before swallowing. His movements were jerky, and after a few bites he ran his han akwardly through his hair.

Jamal_Reedy
Jamal broke the odd trance he found himself in and then glanced at Joliette. "Boxpring? Ooh...OH. Sorry, yeah, brotha can help ya out wit' dat wheneva." A light smirk graced his lips at the mention of Awen getting smooshed by the matress...poor thing.

Chubbs offer was then given a faint headshake. "Might be betta if I found out fo' maself...I ain't handling second hand info all that well as of late."

Then his eyes flitted cautiously to Ambrose, whom had taken a seat next to him. Today though, the intense fear that the wolf might have encountered that day was muted..it was more of an uneasiness than anything. He noted the younger man's fidgetting. "You a'ight?"

Joliette Rigiel
"I won't stop you chubbs, but they may not tell you other people's info. I certainly don't want to press 0 again after my last experience" she made a disgusted face "Thanks Jamal" she said and looked towards ambrose when Jamal spoke to him pausing with her food, his question seemed accurate, Ambrose soomed , well she wasn't sure, but not his usual optomistic self

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs felt a lil deflated, back home he had a reason, he was somebody to someone... the kids. Even if that's all he had, it still made him a better person knowing that. Here, he was really nothing, nothing useful he could do, and the only thing he thought to do, no one really wanted. Awens giggles helped though, she was good to be around.

Chubbs shook the hand of Ambrose, it felt so furry, and he smiled at least, was a good thing. He looked bout as nervous to meet him as Chubbs was of Ambrose. He sorta felt out of place here, seems people were already friends, and he was just meeting them. Ambrose's steak looked good, Chubbs needed something to occupy himself before he lost it in front of them

" I'll just, umm .. find out bout me.. see how I go. Hmm, think I'll go get something"

Chubbs got up and headed over to the food with shuffled feet and hands in pockets.

Awen Zyn
Awen shifted a little bit n her chair. Something seemed to be wrong with Ambrose... now that Jamal had mentioned it. "I'm um..Awen..." She said meakly to his question looking concerned for the furry guy. But...she didn;t really know what to say and something shifted inside of her.

All of a sudden she just had to clear out. Something about being around people right then made her stomach turn around. She looked between the four others and gave a little smile.

"Hey uh... you know I think I need some air..." She stood up slowly. "I'm gonna head out and...catch you guys later okay?" She gave Jamal a small kiss on hte cheek and everyone else a wave.

She waited for their responces if any then turned and headed towards the door.

Before she left she paused. "Feel better Ambrose..." She said softly before turning and heading out.

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose looked back to Jamal, pleasantly surprised at the question. He HAD come here to talk.... he had just hoped to encounter some of hte people he knew better.... who he had already begun to tell of his situation here... that miht be able to understand better... or offer advice. Now, if he wanted to talk, there was.... a lot to talk about to say the least.

An ear flicked back at Jamals question. "Not... not so much, really..." Ambrose winced. "It.... it's a long story." He sighed.

Looking back to Chubbs he ran a hand through his blonde hair again. "I'm sorry... Chubbs" It sounded as if he was having difficulty calling the big man that, like it should be an insult instead of a name. But he had gotten used to Dude at least. "I... it's been a rough morning for me.... it's not that I am not pleased to meet you... and more so that at least my presence alone isn't calling for a barrage of questions." He wasn't sure if he could handle that this morning. He nodded to him as he went to go fetch himself some food, taking the opportunity to take several more hungry bites of his own.

He mused over the topic of coversation. Despite his own change, it suddently became very relevant all over again. Ambrose considered himself having been exceedingly lucky... but now it was time to play roulette all over again. "I... assume from the conversation... you guys sound worried about your serums..." He winced. "I.... know how you feel."

Ambrose lookd up suddenly as Awen shot up. HE was about to repeat the formalized greeting when she shot up. In his state of mind, he was about to worry that it was something he said when she gave a sincere well-wishing.

However, the peck to Jamal's cheek, while it gave a small smile, only seemed to aggravate the issues in his mind.

Jamal_Reedy
Jamal managed true sympathy for Ambrose but was interrupted as Awen flittered up from her seat with a declaration for a need of air and kissed him on the cheek.
"I'll be out in a bit, a'ight?" he said before she managed to disappear, then turned back to the group.

The mention of uncertainty over the serums made him nod and grimace, a hand passing uneasily through the parts of his cornrows. "I ain't got no idea what they got in store fo' me....dat's what be worryin' me."

Joliette Rigiel
"Bye Awen" Joliette called to her as she left and looked towards the others once more "You know Ambrose, if you need ears, theres none better then your fellow islanders" she said softly "And yes, concern over hte serums is high, I worry Sabin may have chosen one that is not vegetarian or vegan" she paled slightly at the thought

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs blinked, midway through putting a couple of hamburgers on a plate. Ambrose was sorry. Chubbs turned about a bit, listening to him. Ambrose was having problems, of course he was, but Chubbs hadn't thought about that, he was worried bout himself. Chubbs felt a twinge of guilt, he wanted to make Ambrose feel better some how.

" It's okay, it's the name right?"

Chubbs made his way back to the table, settling down in his chair.

" It's ..ummm really fine, I..I gave myself the name... I'd rather had been called that than hefher, or, ya know?"

Chubbs looked between the three, leaning on the table.

" I'm gonna find..umm.. find out... I hope... but I know I'm new... and ah all.. and you don't know me... I'm not going anywhere... and I'm a great listener....ask my mum"

He gave a bit of a smile

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose decided that, for the moment, perhaps it would be easier to talk with them about their anxieties. Perhaps that way, at least, he could try to not worry so much about his own and... in a way.... maybe even figure out a way to help Angelna with some of her own fears.

"I... know another person.... who just arrived." He fidgeted for a moment, took a bite of steak. "She's really worried about that as well.... as am I. I was spared... really.. this waiting period. I was the fist one here to change to my knoweldge. But that brought with it a whole different set of issues."

Ambrose smiled to Chubbs. He couldn't help it, he seemed like a nice guy, and another person who didn't deserve to be here. "Yeah... I'm sorry - I mean, I see what you're saying, but me, I'd just call you whatever you'd like to be called.... or your real name.... And good luck - that takes a lot of courage. I hope that it's something that you can live with." He replied hoenstly.

Ambrose looked at Joliette consideringly. "I don't know this... Sabin fellow.... but I've seen the technicians make decisions that seem.... cruel... in a word. A woman, Cassidy... terrified of snakes... and I'll give you two guesses what serum they gave her. I know that this probably isn't sounding comforting" Ambrose backtracked, miserably. "I'm probably just making things sound worse."

He sighed deeply, looked to his three companions, then took a risk. "Have.... have any of you... ever known somone you really care about.... and something happend between you and you thought that things were irreparable.... or that you'd never... you know... see eachother again..... then... surprise!" He held his hands out, his voice mimicking the scared smile on his face. "And it's wonderful to see her.... but there are.... complications... beyond that.... LOTS .... of complications..."

Jamal_Reedy
Jamal silently cursed, his worries confirmed as Ambrose explained the Doctor's evil nature...purposefully picking out things that their captive wouldn't like.

However, Ambrose started to speak again of a situation that he'd sort of been in before...but somehow there was enough of a difference to it to where he didn't agree nor disagree. he just listened.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette put her salad fork down and leaned on the table "No, but perhaps getting it off your chest will help Ambrose" she said softly trying to be as supportive as she could given the circumstanses

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs smiled a bit at Ambrose, he was a nice guy, kinda like a drinking buddy.

" Chubbs is fine, I uh kinda got use to it now"

He took a big bite out of his burger, it may have been huge for others, but that was normal for Chubbs, he had a big mouth. Chubbs listened to Ambrose, who seemed to have trouble explaining. Afterwards, He offered a situation, and hoped maybe it would sounds similair.

" I ... ah well, my dad... he um.. walked out on mum... and I found him , like down the pub, I umm got a bit mad and broke his nose"

Chubbs blushed a bit, and looked down at his food and not the others.

" Been like 4 years since I had... umm... senn him.. and I well... he came for my grandfather's funeral... I thought I'd like never see him again"

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose shrugged, feeling rather on-the spot. There was so much background. "It.... it's really a long story..." He said with a shake of his head.

He raised his eyebrows at Chubb's story. "Ouch..." He shifted a bit awkwardly. By the sounds of things: a father who walked out on his mother and a deceased grandfather, Chubbs had had his experience of hardships. Ambrose's relationship problem now seemed... well... definately differet.

Finally, he took a breath. "Back home... I had been in a wonderful relationship.... we had been seeing eachother for about three years... Angelina.... well... she was wonderful. I had thought maybe someday we'd.... you know.... get married.

Then.... THIS happened. I get whisked away to this Island. Supposedly for 'two weeks'. My heart is broken when I hear the truth. I never... you know.... even really got to say good bye. From what I Hear, I assume they tell her I died somehow. For the longest time, I hold out hope that maybe, someday, somehow, I 'll see her again.."

He swallowed.

"Then I got my third injection. And things ... reality, I guess... crashes down around my now furry ears. They're never going to let me go. Even if I escape, they say I' get cancer and probably die a horrible, painful death. So I start to try to face the hard facts that I will probably never see her again.... I'm lonely.... I need someone to confide in... to.... you know... share things with.... and I start to move on...

Emelyn.... Emelyn is a wonderful person. She really has been helping me through this - see the better sides of things, make me smile, and listen to my concerns - no matter how selfish or stupid they might be. The other night... we got closer..."

He blushed.

"Then... y..yesterday...." He took a breath. "Angelina.... she.... she showed up. HERE. She... she was looking for me... she never gave up hope.... she dug too deep and they lured her here to 'see me'. Now she's trapped here too. And... and God I missed her so much. But... now she's trapped here. I mean, I woudln't wish this on my enemies let alone her.. But I feel guilty for enjoying seeing her. But.... but I admit... Emelyn... and she's upset - rightfully so! But.... what can I do to help her understand I stilll love her.... and.. and... Emelyn! I really do care for her.... and she needs someone here as well... and and..." He dropped his face to his chin. "I don't know what to do...." He whimpered.

Ambrose really, REALLY wished that there were still alcohol on the island.

Jamal_Reedy
Ouch...this was QUITE the situation Ambrose had caught himself in. Sadly, he was so poor at really offering serious advice and felt he was more or less taking up important space here in a council that he had little to offer.

"s**t man, I wish I could offa some help, but...damn," he said lamely, shifting in his seat until he finally stood up. "This sorta stuff I ain't so good at...so I'mma excuse maself. Gotta go find Awen anyway and make sure she a'ight."

He did offer Ambrose a pat on the shoulder as he slipped around; he really was trying very hard to deal with all these changes.

"Ya'll have a good one, a'ight?" he said in his most friendly manner, though still it sounded a little curt, before disappearing in the same direction as the blue haired woman.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette frowned slightly "That is a sticky situation Ambrose, I can certainly see your point of thoughts, I can't blame you for it, it's likely to be a rough road ahead, If love is true though Angelina will see you didn't mean to hurt her, as for Emelyn, that weels like a trickier situation, I'm not certain I could give advice there"

Chubbs MacKraken
Every Insult fly into Chubbs' mind to through at the people that did this. Not only did this poor guy lose everything, had to suffer like he had, then they throw in the person he most cared about and made him watch her suffer too. Chubb's frowned and tried to hide the fact he was just about to shed tears.

" ... I...... woa... you ah, told her at .. um least.... you did the right thing...But I've... I ah... never like kissed a girl yet... so... I'd try to ... help but umm, ya may think me silly"

Chubbs didn't even blush that time, his fingers were white from his clenched hand, he wanted to yell at the idiots who did this. He could handle what happened, but no one deserved what Ambrose got

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose nodded to Jamal as he got up to go. "Thanks for listening... at least. And... uhm... good luck with Awen. She seemed like something startled or upset her." He nodded his thanks at the shoulder pat.

He looked in turn to Joliette. "I... I certainly hope she will come around.... admittedly... she's had quite the shock with .... well... everything hitting her at once. I wish I Didn't haven't to be the bearer of bad news to her of all people... But I really really don't know what to say to Emelyn.... especially since she already felt kind of left behind in favor of another with another person here already... that will remain nameles...."

Ambrose blinked at Chubbs, then at Joliette and put a hand to his forehead. Ambrose hardly considered himself an expert at the whole dating thing, but to have met two people in as many days who had NEVER had a relationship before? And add that to Greer... and these were older people... "Well.... thanks..." He said awkwardly. "I think it's best I told her too.... I think it would have been worse to not tell her... have this secret that ate at me. Even though it was an inopportune time.... I couldn't keep that from her."

Ambrose frowned as well, and took several big bites out of the steak with a sigh. With Jamal gone... and as little as he admittedly would trust dating suggestions from a gansta.... that left two people with NO experience, and his heart sunk deeper.

"I... should probably.. I don't know.... get back or something." He looked at the uneaten piece of chocolate cake. "I wonder if I can even eat that now.... isn't chocolate poisenous to.... canines..?" Ambrose winced, looking as if he just got a moutful of something distasteful.

Joliette Rigiel
"I truly wish you the best with that Ambrose, honest I do." she sighed softly, suddenly her problems didn't seem quite so bad "I don't think poisoness" she said quietly "And please remind me not to press 0 any time in the near future"

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs looked at the cake, as the oppurtunity hit, he thought he could lighten the mood, even if he was pissed.

" Ya can .. ah..always rely on me for.. like, food disposal, ... if not.. to listen"

He smiled on one corner of his mouth, he tried but the feeling wasn't there. He felt completely useless, and it was aweful. But he tried his best.

" The well.. see.. it's.. not like I don't want a girlfriend... I just.. couldn't find one... and ah...well... those that.. well sit on the side and watch.. kinda learn alot"

Chubbs stroked his fuzzy cheek.

" I .. I can't know what it'd be like in .. well your shoes... but Em..Em ah, I forgot her name..I think you should let her know... like umm soon.. and from you...... If ya like... I can be there for ya?"

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose took a breath and summoned a weak smile for the two of them.

"Thanks... I... I know it's not going to be easy... in any aspect. But honestly, thanks for listening, both of you." He gave a more sincere smile to Chubbs as he patted his cheek. He really did seem like a nice guy.

"Help yourself." He said, sliding the plate in the big man's direction. "And good luck to you here. If you need someone else to listen to anything of yours. Well, I'm in Duplex 1." He offered, standing.

A nap sounded exceedingly nice. With the stress and the full belly, he could shut out the world for a while. Then.... deal with relationship issues.

Joliette Rigiel
"Sleep well Ambrose, and best of luck" Joliette said with a soft smile truly hoping he did have good luck.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs waved to Ambrose, sighed and looked to Joliette, then stood up.

" I have to get to my ah..room, take care of some things ...ya know?...Anything ya need ....umm request wise I can put in?

He headed over to the door, shuffling, just to the left he found his boxing bag and with a grunt, hoisted it onto his shoulders and turned back to Joliette.

Joliette Rigiel
"No I should be fine thanks Chubbs, I dont need more Naff clothing Appreciate the offer though, see you soon" She sighed and looked down at her plate and just picked at it for a while

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs nodded, waved a little and headed out. Even though there were neighbours she'd probably pass him anyway.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette eventually gave up eatting and left as well returning to her own duplex

SUPERSIZED COMBO: A PISSED OFF CHUBBS

Chubbs huffed as he got into his unit, dumping the hefty punching bag on the floor with a thud and slamming his door. He looked at the intercom and bit his thumb nail. Pacing back and forth, he tried to calm down. If he yelled straight away, he would likely not get what he needed. Chubbs reached over and pushed the 0 button with a hard finger.

Sabin had been finding himself on moniter duty more and more recently. He wondered if there was something that he had done to get himself in this situation. A frown tugged at his mouth and he tapped the receiving button.

"Yo!" Sabin called out, quite unprofessionally, and really not caring. He glanced at the housing list... and then to the corresponding camera. "Chubbs, right?" A French accent called back.

Chubbs closed his eyes, Sabin, the one that drove him here all smiles and charm. It took a lot of effort not to blast him... no not yet. He leaned on the wall and spoke

" Right!, first... what the heck am I gonna turn into... second, What is Amaya turning into"

Sabin's eyes raised at the forthright questions. Most people didn't ask. "well..." Sabin began, pulling up Chubb's records on the computer, even though he had mixed the serum himself. "You're actually a rather experimental case ,Chubbs. A very special case at that, if I do say so myself." Sabin's cocky attitude was coming back since his good samaritan deed. As if part of him were trying to pull him back in the other direction. "You, my friend, are a mix of a few types of animals. We're seeing if we can combine some of the features of a few animals into an integrated whole from the begining!" Sabin sounded downright excited about this.

Chubbs blinked and starred wide eyed. God, one was bad enough, just one, but damn three?! He nearlly choked up, his face went back to it's frown as he looked at the intercom.

" Which three?... and none of that scientifical bullshit... names"

The sound of some keyboard takking was heard and a few moments later.... "Bear.... Tasmanian Devil.... and Wolverine." Sabin grinned, invisibly behind the microphone.

Chubbs took it a lot better than most, for Chubbs was expecting pig to be one of them. He would have just been plain upset at that. There was a moment of silence as Chubbs took the information in. It'd sink in eventually.

" And Amaya?"

Sabin paused, thinking. According to the moniters, Amaya had just recently changed to her 50%, and there was ample evidence now for her to peg what she was becoming. Chubbs, however, hand't seen her last change. There was the taking sound of more nails on a keyboard. "Hrmmm... Amaya Vaughn?" some more taking. "That's oddd..." He let his voice hang for a bit.

Chubbs was tapping his fingers on the wall with his hand on his hip, patiently, or so it seemed, waiting to hear what was going on

" What?"

"Well... According to MY records... she was given the Hampster serum..."

Chubbs wasn't in the mood for crap, he was about to slip up soon

" When's the last time ya saw a SCALED hamster?!"

"Honestly? About three weeks ago?" Sabin said mirthfully, thinking back to the test experiments in the labrooms. "Well.... okay, technically it was a rat, but close enough."

Chubbs slammed his fist into the wall, there was a dint, and his hand ached but he needed an outlet, Sabin wasn't allowed to make jokes from Chubbs perspective.

" Listen, quit ya god damn laughing, I hear ya take requests.. well better start writing this down ya b*****d!. I was promised money, it useless to me now but you take that money and ******** give my kids a proper gym!. Then ya leave them the hell alone! ya hear me a*****e?! If I find out you touched them I'll bring this place down into the firey depths of hell!, you won't get peace from me, ******** ya lil science project, I'll be at it night and day, i'll break all ya lousy security, I wont quit till I break ya face ya hear me?! And Ambrose.. you sick twisted ********!, there no god damn need for that, you pack of Nazi's."

Sabin frowned at that, leaning forward. "Now look here. I have no interest in your friends back home. I don't have the financial authority to buy anything for anyone, but I'll forward your ever-so polite request to Moreau. As for Ambrose, You're criticizing ME?" Sabin snorted. "you should be thanking me. I didn't bring her here. That was allll her doing." Sabin almost started to regret his kind decision.

Chubbs took a breath, he wasn't about to let up, what they've done got him so angry.

" WE can be ya god damn petting zoo, cuz mum and dad psycho ******** didn't raise ya right or dropped ya on ya head. But ya quit DICKING WITH OUR LIVES! got me?! Ya better hope and pray Sabin that you start ******** thinkin straight, you better make sure my kids get the gym. ....Ya ever seen or read Jurrasic park a*****e?!, look where playing god got them!"

With that he slammed his fist hard into the intercom and wall behind it with a grunt. It smashed and fizzled, his hand seered with pain but his didn't care. It felt good for a brief second, someone had to tell em.

Sabin crossed his arms with a shake of his head. Sabin wasn't intimidated... or insulted. More amused. Interesting to see the gentle giant already showing a temper.. Now was that just a stress... or some of the serum already acting? well, he WAS a boxer. With a shurg he filled out a report and sent it towards Moreau's desk

Chubbs pulled his hand out of the wall, he winced and shards of plastic and blood fell to the floor. He looked at his right hand, a couple of bits of plastic stuck out of his red fist. He carefully walked to the bathroom, holding his other hand underneath as not to drip everywhere.

Little woman, Big heart

Joliette had been heading back to her own duplex when she heard a loud *crash* from nearby, after a moment of staring at the door of her neighbour's duplex she decides to see if he's ok. She walks up to the door and knocks on it

Chubbs was scrunching up his face, pulling out the plastic as he ran his hand under the tap in the sink. He got them out when he heard a tapping on his door. Someone was there, if it was any of he island staff, they picked the wrong time.

" It's open"

Joliette turned the knob and slowly opened the door "Chubbs? Are you ok?" she asked softly as she took a step into his unit and looked around her eyes coming to light on the smashed intercom and widened

The accent hinted to him right away that it was Joliette, he sighed and realized she was his neighbour. All that yelling probably just scared the crap outta her. Chubbs made his way out of the bathroom, peeling off his glove on his right hand. Looking over at Joliette, he feel a little embarrassed for her to see him like this.

" I'm fine... I uh.. just hurt my hand a little"

Joliette looked back towards him "You smashed the intercom? what happened?" she had heard some raucous but couldn't quite make it out. "And are you ok?" she walked closer to help if he needed it

Chubbs looked down at his hand, it was bleeding still, he stretched and curled his fingers. He had to cover it up, and with his left hand he unzipped his bag and started searching through it.

" I...I got so mad... it's enough they.. they gotta do this to people.... but look.. at what they ah.. did to Ambrose....and.. the girl that hates snakes... I mean.. they deliberately trying to make us snap?"

Chubbs sniffed back the tears forming in his eyes, He wanted to make everything better for everyone around him. If others were happy, he'd be happy for them, but if they were upset, he would be for them also.

" I told them.... I umm said.. they can't d**k with us any more... I won't sit here and.. and let them do that"

Chubbs lowered his head, still searching through his bag, his cheeks all red

" I told Sabin off, I told him.. he uh... well he better get his act together....or I'm not gonna... umm.. let him rest"

"Good luck, that gormless arse isn't likely to change, I request clothes and he sends me stuff I would never wear, most of it for a slag." she sighed "Would you like a hand wrapping that up? you only really seem to have one free hand right now" she asked him moving slower to where he was riffling through his bag

Chubbs nodded, and pointed to his bag

"There's ah, well a few bandages at the, umm bottom I think, I umm I use em for hand wraps"

Chubbs sat on his bed on the edge and picked up a towel he had on the floor, sticking his hand in that for now.

" I know it's a bad offer, but umm... ya well, welcome to like, use some of mine... I mean you could make something out of the umm material.. or I think my ah shirt might, like do for a nightshirt"

Chubbs couldn't help but blush a bit

Joliette started digging in the bag pulling a few things out and putting them aside so she could get further into the bag. She heard offer and looked up at him with a smile "Thankyou Chubbs I appreciate the offer, If I can just convince them to send me a couple pairs of khakis and plain cotton shirts I will be good" she smiled returning to digging till she found what she was looking for. She stood up and pulled a portion loose to give her a starting point, wrapping hands wasn't anything new, she'd a couple times wrapped the hands of newer martial arts students who hurt them on the boards

Chubbs was feeling alot calmer. It happens, specially with a female presence. It was like beauty and the beast, Yeah, beast alright... He was going to be a freakish freak among freaks. Typical, just when he was starting to belong. He held his hand up, letting her do her wrapping. She was really good at it, Chubbs started growing goosebumps.

" I ah, well.. found out what I was.. well, I guess I am to be"

Joliette looked curious though she didn't look away from what she was doing jsut yet "What fif the git say they gave you to become?" she asked quietly making sure the wrap was snug but not tight and soon tying off the ends in a typical belt knot similar to the belt around her Gi right then

Chubbs turned his hand around and smiled shyly at her. She knew her stuff. He twisted around to face her some more, bending one leg up on the bed, he took a breath

" Apparently... well... bear.. and Tasmanian devil.... and umm wolverine"

He was still trying to understand it himself

"Three animals?" Joliette blinked "Is that even possible?... wait don't answer that, everything I've seen happening here I would never imagined ever possible and I'm sure I haven't seen it all yet" she sighed and moved his belongings back to the bag before sitting on the edge of the bed beside him to talk

He scooted back enough to give her room, but he also wanted to rest his back against the wall. Stroking his bandage softly, he looked over to her and looked so clueless.

" I.. I'm surprised I'm , well, not a hippo or, a pig, you know? They well, they've hurt everyone else"

"They don't seem to be predicable, in some cases a little predictable it seems but not all, and if the gormless arse is involved I would put nothing past him. Whether it be good or bad... What do you think of what they are going to attempt to change you to?" she asked sitting and facing him her hands in her lap

Chubbs twisted his cap around backwards and rested his head against the wall,

" I .. I dunno. They are like all nasty meat eaters aren't they? I know to the kids... well... I'll be a monster... and to the islanders?... well, I figure.. I'll umm be like .. I was to humans, out there in the world"

"You know the impressions I've gotten so far here so far is everyone is very supportive of each other, we're all trapped and we are all having things done to us against our will, noone here will thing you are a monster." she said watching him "You have too kind a nature for that to ever happen anyways"

Chubbs blushed and chuckled a tiny bit as he pulled his hat back around the right way and pulled it down over his face.

" Hehe quit that"

Joliette laughed "Am I spoiling your reputation?" she said teasingly with a smile

Chubbs smiled a bit and then tucked his legs up and rested his arms on his knees, peering over at her.

" Nah, well just, I'm never good with umm... compliments"

"I don't see why you shouldn't be, perhaps some day you'll get used to compliments" she smiled fidgetting with the ends of her belt, she ffelt at ease talking with him

Chubbs smiled shyly over his knees, rubbing the back of his hand.

" Just never got , ah too many.. of em... so maybe.. one day"

Chubbs looked down at his he hand and blinked then pointed to it with a blush

" Oh and ah, oh thanks.. for.. my hand... was a bit silly, I know"

"You are welcome, and to be honest, I don't believe it was, you were angry and it was an outlet to release that anger, I vented anger a few days ago, I tore apart the fake movie script Sabin gave me when I got here in his 'this is a movie set' ruse he pulled over on me" she admitted

Chubbs, always the light hearted, made a joke in the situation, motioning to the intercom.

" Well ah... I .. at least.. won't be needin anything.. soon hey?"

He smiled a bit and scratched his chin

" Fake movie hmm?.. I was just well thinkin like, umm last night... we could like put on a play.. for fun"

"A play? any particular theme in mind Chubbs?" she asked ever the journalist seeking tidbits of information on anything she thought may be of interest to the general public

Chubbs didn't believe she was interested. He thought his ideas were silly at times, but she seemed to want to know, he was kinda embarrassed about it

" I like um heroes, ya know.. and I uh.. thought.. we could like write something up. for like a medi evil fantasy thing"

He looked down at his shoes a bit

" Like ya know, we could have like umm... sword fights... and some kinda big monster... and princesses, kings... we can make parts up for like people of the island... I recon Ambrose makes for a nice knight"

Joliette smiled "Should bring this up as a group, and Ambrose is a fencer so I would imagine yes he would make a good knight" this could have possibilities, something to possibly bring spirits up within the islanders who seemed very on edge from what she'd observed

Chubbs chuckled, what were the odds?

" I didn't know that... that's pretty cool"

Chubbs looked over at Joliette and smiled

" I could see ya .. like umm.. like a Joan of Arc kinda kick a**.. well knight chick"

His cheeks reddened, why did everything coming from his mouth sound horrible?

Joliette chuckled "Short little me a knight? Perhaps if they can do martial arts, but I don't know how to fence or anything" she smiled

Chubbs scooted closer to her, enough to reach her. He believed in alot of things, and one was you can do anything if you put you're heart to it. In fact it was one of the first lessons he taught the children. So he wanted to show her the same

" When I taught the kids, ..I told the this...I may be big.. or umm look strong.. but it's not the size that matters"

Chubbs touched her on the forehead and then on her heart and rested his bandaged hand back on the bed

" It's what in here, and in here that counts"

Joliette smiled "You're right Chubbs, it is those things that count, not everyone believes that even if it's true. I know that one from experience from my career. " she watched him for a moment "I was right though... you do have a kind heart"

Chubbs smiled, getting a little bit smiffly and red in the cheeks

" Everyone needs a big brother right?"

She blinked, she hadn't really thought about that. "I guess, I never really thought about siblings, mom and dad never had any other children besides me"

Chubbs continued to keep smiling shyly, it was good to talk

" Me either.. but um.. I like to help... so I'm there for any, anyone that needs me"

Joilette smiled "Always a good thing" she put a hand to her mouth covering a yawn "I should get to my duplex, I think Delia in the town hall has painkillers if that hand starts to bother you" she said softly and stood up "We'll have to get together to talk more often, you are a good conversationalist."

Chubbs blushed again, he wastrying, but he couldn't help it. He slid and stood up to see her out

" Thanks. .. it's um okay.. I've been hit worse than this"

He held up his hand, as if it were minor

" I like talking too, i'll umm.. have to invite ya over for.. um a cuppa"

"Sounds like a plan, after I finish setting up my darkroom " she smiled "The equipment should be in tomorrow or so" she said "Take it easy, and dont break any more intercoms" she giggled and winked before turning and heading next door to her duplex

Chubbs nodded and blused brightly this time, chuckling a bit

" Will. erm try not to"

He then waved to her till she got inside and he closed his own door

Salad, Scales and Serums

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs was visiting the cafeteria late. The recent news, upsets, and shocks had him sleepy alot less than he should be. He sat at a table near the food counter, so he didn't have to walk far. He had three books on the table, one he was reading slowly, his head leaning on an arm.

Flicking through the pages of the book with his injured hand, he glanced down at the picture of the giant grizzly roaring with salivating teeth. He pondered the face, trying to get the idea that he may look like that. With a sigh, he broke a piece of cake off his plate and ate it, licking his fingers.

Amaya Vaughan
It was late, Amaya was more awake then she needed to be due to sleeping almost all day, and even though the thought of keeping herself locked up in her room for the remainder of the night sounded really pleasing... it had been an entire day and she hadn't eaten a single thing. So after putting on a baggy shirt, a pair of pants and once again; the hoodie Chubbs had let her borrow so she could hide her tail and hands she made her way silently out of her duplex and towards the cafeteria.

Thankfully it was kind of late, the sun already begining to set. The food selection would be kind of sparse, but hopefully the population of islanders inside would be even sparser.

Amaya paused at the cafeteria doors to look inside, lifting the hood she wore to look through. Low and behold, there sat Chubbs right by the food line. s**t.

Cursing her bad luck, the girl paced around a little outside to weigh her options. She didn't get to think much before her stomach reminded her audibly that she hadn't eaten anything all day. Letting out a heavy sigh she stood at the door and put a long, clawed hand on the handle of the door before pushing it open and walking inside... though the hood was still up over her face, Chubbs would undoubtedly know it was her anyway.

The second her large foot touched the tile it resounded through the silent cafeteria with a 'click' of her claws. Amaya winced. Busted.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubs slowly turned the page of the book. The information would really go in one ear and out the other for him. He couldn't remember alot of things at times, specially names. The page opened to feeding habits of brown bears, Chubbs pondered now what they actually hungered for.

With a click in the cafeteria, Chubbs twisted his head to look up beneath the brim of his hat. Someone was at the door and clothed up plenty. If he knew any better, he swore that hoodie was... his. He smiled lightly and sat up a bit, waving his hand he was just leaning on. Amaya was here, and hidden under his large sweater. it made him blush thinking a girl was wearing his top.

" G'day hun"

Amaya Vaughan
"Hey..." Amaya replied with little enthusiasm even though she was actually glad to see Chubbs. He was a nice guy and knew how to make her laugh.

For a few moments she stood by the door, her hands in the sweater and her head down. She was content to just stand there all day until her stomach gave an audible growl. Stupid need to eat...

With a sigh she walked over to the food counter, her larger feet in plain view since she really didn't have a way of hiding them. After grabbing a bowl of salad in silence, she walked over next to him and set the bowl down on the table rather awkwardly with her new large hand.

"Sorry about not returning your sweater... kinda been using it a lot lately." She forced a tiny laugh and sat down, manuvering herself so that her tail could hang down the back opening of the chair.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs looked at his book, and checked the page number before closing it. Like he would remember it anyway, female company basically stomped on his memory. He shuffled his seat forward and couldn't help but notice that she was different. Her hands and feet were anyway, he remembered her feet, made him blush thinking it was other reasons he had remembered. She certainly had changed, and Chubbs guessed she had been using his hoodie to cover up, like she was now.

He didn't want to make her uncomfortable, she probably felt that anyway. He decided for now to obscure the fact he noticed the subtle differences. Picking up his fork in his bandaged hand, he picked at his cake.

" It's.. it's ah fine, I don't mind... I umm, feel almost flatered"

Chubbs tried to hide his face a bit, as he nibbled his cake and went red in the cheeks.

" Be, besides... you need it to... well.. keep warm"

Amaya Vaughan
"Flattered?" Amaya blinked in surprise and looked over at him, the hood lifting up slightly to barely reveal her changed features so she could look at him. Giggling slightly, she stabbed at her salad and pushed it around with her fork while trying to ignore her stomach's cry for food.

After taking a bite from her salad and swallowing it, she noticed the bandage on his hand and jumped. "Oh my god, what happened to your hand?!" Green eyes looked up at him past her scales and the shadow created by the hood, though even despite all that you could tell they were filled with concern.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs blinked up at Amaya, he was a little surprised she jumped up like that. He tried to reach over nervously, not of how her hand looked, just that he was shy, and take her hand. He tried to bring her back down to her seat, it'd been a little while since he'd hurt it, he felt it wasn't something to be so worried about.

" It's, o- okay, really umm.. I ah.. just hurt it.. is all"

He tried to comfort her with a couple of pats on her hand

" Please.. umm, ya salad's gonna evolve.. if ya don't eat it"

He slipped his hand to rest on his book, and switched to eating with his left

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya frowned, but sat down as she was told and pushed around her salad a bit. "Well, the staff didn't do it did they?" After eating a forkful of salad she reached a hand up and pulled her hood down, but didn't look at him. If the man had the courage to pat her extremely large hands then the look of her face probably wouldn't make him jump... too much.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs looked up at her with a smile, only to be confronted by the new changes to her face. She had changed, it was noticable now. He sighed lightly, still mad at the staff here for what they had done, but he smiled anyway, at least for Amaya.

" No.. no really, I ah, well I spoke to em on the intercom thing... and well..I asked bout well .. well what I was gonna be.. and.. umm.. what you were gonna be"

Chubbs blushed a bit again, and hoped she wasn't mad at him for butting in.

" I well umm .. I thought ya might want to know.. form me or something.. , I got mine.. then the smeghead said ya were a hamster... I kinda got mad at him for that. And well other things... ya know .. what they are doing.. so I swore at him."

Chubbs rubbed the bandanges on his hand as he recalled the event that happened. Then he blinked and looked up.

" Well umm... it's well ya know... obvious ya not a hamster...and he was being a jerk. I - I didn't mean to.. sticky beak or anything.. I just wanted to help.. ya out. I ... I well put my fist through the intercom"

Chubbs lowered his head, trying to hide his face, feeling a little embaressed

Amaya Vaughan
"A hampster?" Amaya snorted past a mouthful of salad, but smiled afterwards regardless. "I'm not mad at you for asking... actually I'm pretty surprised you'd do something like that for me." She looked at him, the smile genuine. "Even though I know what I am now, it really means a lot to me for you to have asked."

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs brightened in redness, almost wishing he was a turtle to tuck his head away, he instead pulled his hat lower over his face.

" Aww, it's nothin.. really...just.. well want to help, where i ah .. can"

He took a chunk of his cake and chewed on it. Had to admit this place had some decent food available. He peeked up a bit under his brim and smiled shyly in return.

" Wait.. let me guess... you got the beautiful mermaid serum... oh um wait... no... the...ravishing raptor serum.... oh.. no!.. better.. the sexy snake one?"

He smiled a little, hoping it'd make her laugh

Amaya Vaughan
It was cute how shy he was. Amaya smiled as she munched on her salad, going wide-eyed at Chubbs' 'assumptions'. Beautiful? Ravishing? Sexy!? Holy crap... Even though it was just a joke... she... well... ah, s**t.

Amaya laughed nervously, looking down as her cheeks turned a bright red. No one had ever given her those kind of compliments before. Not even if they had been joking.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs grinned a little cheekily. It felt a little better that someone else was blushing besides him, and it looked nice with her green. He finished his cake with a light hearted chuckle, picking the crumbs up with a finger.

" I ah... well the look on your face just now. Heh, I wouldn't mind it framed"

He smiled again, lifting his hat some more, " coming out of his shell" so to speak.

Amaya Vaughan
This only made Amaya blush more and her nervous laughter resume as she pushed around her salad with the fork between her thumb and forefinger, her other fingers curled into a fist to keep them out of the way.

After a bit her blush deminished to just a light pink and she finally got the courage to look up, though at her salad and not Chubbs. She was still too embarassed by his compliments.

"Uh... I... Actually, I'm pretty sure it's a green iguana. My tail is a dead giveaway." She gave another nervous laugh, the tail hanging from the chair behind her motionless.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs looked her over, then leaned a little bit to his side. He wanted to see the tail for himself, but he decided against it, and sat back. He figured a girl hates you staring at her backside, why would it be any different to a tail? Chubbs watched her play with her salad, looking as though other things were on her mind. He leaned on the table some, looking to her.

" Not umm, hungry.. or for salad... or umm.. is something up?"

Amaya Vaughan
"Huh? ... Oh." Amaya took another bite of her salad and ate it before speaking up again.

"Well... after I changed the first time it wasn't that bad. My hands and feet were bigger, but beyond that it wasn't that bad... but now my hands and feet are even bigger then they were before. Kinda makes me naucious." She paused for a moment, glancing up at him and then back again. "That and I haven't felt very well since I... changed last. I ended up vomitting and fainting afterwards."

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs tried to keep a brave face in it all, but he was worried about her, he didn't want it to show, he wanted to keep her happy. He reached over shyly and patted her hand.

" I can't .. well begin to ah.. understand what it's like. I will soon I guess, and well.. umm maybe then I will. Just well..."

Chubbs sighed, not from sadness, he was just trying to find something to help, to make her feel a bit better.

" You just.. well you use me... well what I - I mean is ya just think, that' no matter.. umm how I look... Chubbs looks worse"

He tried for a smile, a little one. In the back of his mind he new he'd be horrible and she at least might look okay still.

" If ya hungry.. I umm... I could make a batch of umm Chubby chilli?"

Amaya Vaughan
"I hope you never have to know what it's like. It seems a few people have been here for a long time and nothing is happening to them... so maybe you'll get lucky." Amaya smiled up at him and gently squeezed his hand after he patted it, making sure to avoid her claws. Despite how big the man was compared to her, her hands were a lot bigger then his. She then let go, her hand having been shaking slightly.

She gave a small laugh, personally thinking he looked a lot better then her... but it was his way of trying to make her feel better, so she went with it. "As much as I'd love to try some... I'm not sure if I can stomach it. I'm pretty much a herbivore now and can only eat things that are around room tempature... but thank you."

Amaya tried to give him a reassuring smile as she pushed around her salad some more and started to finish it off.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs blushed lightly as he took her hand in his injured one and patted it with the other. She seemed to like the contact last time they spoke, he thought it might help some and stop her shaking. His own though were another matter. He nodded at her, then looked at her salad. It was a pitty she couldn't get to taste his chilli, he liked cooking, specially for others. He thought he might have to adapt and think of something for her to eat, He could get some ideas from cook books.

Thinking about how she changed to a herbivore made him think of the animals he would become. The were pretty big meat eaters, could it be he would crave meat as well?

" I - I ah recon i'll be eatin alotta meat myself probably... but .. umm.. hopefully i'll still like cake"

Amaya Vaughan
"Meat?" Amaya looked up at him. "So uh... they told you what they're turning you into?" She kind of wanted to know, but didn't want to ask directly in case it was a touchy subject with him. It had been to a few other people.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs didn't seem to mind at all really, people would know eventually, or at least, he'd have to explain the odd look to him. Reaching over with his uninjured hand, the other still holding Amaya's, he shifted his reading material closer for her to see. A book on bears, one on tasmanian devils and tigers, and the third on wolverines, all pretty thick with knowledge.

" Have a guess?"

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya looked at all the books, the fork she was using hanging out of her mouth slightly as she thought. Why would he have so many different books if they told him straight up what he was going to be? Her brow furrowed and she looked at each one before removing the fork from her mouth and looking up at him. "A bear?"

He was certainly big and brawny enough to be a bear... a bear wasn't that bad, either. Kinda like a teddy bear.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs smiled lightly, he kinda figured she would say that, but he was sure she picked it for good reasons.

" Well... actuall.. supposedly umm all three"

He kept a small smirk on his face, knowing the news would certainly be a bit of a shock, but that she shouldn't worry.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya's eyes widdened and she looked from him to the books. A mix of a bear, wolverine, and either a tasmanian devil or a tiger? Oh my god... they could do that now? She went to say something obvious like 'sorry', but knowing that smirk on his face he was probably trying to keep the topic light-hearted... But still, she didn't know what to say even though she looked worried.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs gave her hand a reassuring squeeze, noticing she was speechless. He looked from her to the books again, and blinked, realising one had two animals as a topic.

" Oh ah, yeah.. they said the devil one... heh trust the mad b*****d to ah.. give me the part serum of a waner brothers cartoon.. umm character.. that well eats everything"

He looked backed to Amaya with a slight grin

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya managed to crack a small smile. "Yeah... well... at least the animals that they picked arn't... y'know... really different. Like a tiger, fish, and an insect or something." She tried to reassure both of them. The combiation wasn't... that bad. All of them were mammilian at least.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs nodded and sighed slightly, knowing she was right. HE really could have wound up completely freaked to the gills. There was need for trying to do something like that. HE was an expirimental though, The effects weren't going to be certain

" I'm glad it wasn't.. well a pig... I just felt that would been mean"

He looked down at her hand, checking out the her fingers and scales.

" Umm.. sorry, ya can take ya hand.. if ya like.. just thought ya um.. well liked to be warm heh"

Amaya Vaughan
"Yeah, they have a knack for being mean. I know one lady here that's terrified of snakes... give you two guesses to what she's turning into." Amaya then blinked and looked at her hand. "Oh! Uh..." Blushing a little, she removed her hand from his and put it back into the pocket of the hoodie.

She then finished the last bites of her salad and lifted up the hood to the sweater once again. The air conditioning seemed to get to her a lot quicker now. Her eyelids started to sag slightly and Amaya wished she could shiver, but knew that cold-blooded animals couldn't... all they did when they were cold was get lazy and tired.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs smiled a little at her blush, she was a little shy bout things, but not near as bad as him. He figured she misunderstood him about the hand.

" Just meant , ya know.. ya mighta wanted ya hand back, and umm, I thought I mighta been stoppin ya"

He watched her pull her hood up and realised how late it was.

" Heading back to ya room?"

Amaya Vaughan
"Yeah, I'd better. I can't stay in the air conditioning for long." Amaya stood up, her claws clicking on the tile floor. "Sorry about borrowing your sweater so much." She gave a nervous laugh and picked up her bowl with both hands, her long fingers wrapping around it. Despite how big they were, it was harder to hold stuff with them when she wasn't used to them yet... that and they were still a little sore.

After bussing her dish and silverware, she walked back over and gave Chubbs a small hug, her hands still making it a little awkward. "I'mma go get some shut eye... thanks for everything and take care, 'kay?" She smiled slightly and turned, leaving the cafeteria and heading back to her duplex for some basking and sleep.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs was surprised by the hug, and gave her a hug back, blushing lightly.

" It's um fine.. ya can look after my sweater for me"

He smiled and as she left, he looked to his books, grabbed then and stood, jogging after her to catch up and walk her home.

suX-BOX

Chubbs sat a little slouchedd on a big couch in front of the large tv with controller in hand, even with his big hands he found the damn thing awkward. He hadn't played computer games much at all in the last few years, he barely could afford the tv he had. Chubbs mashed the buttons on the controller in quick succession, watching his fighter on the screen swing it's opponent around and send it flying over a balcony and onto the next level below.

Chubbs was playing a dead or alive 3 on the xbox with Bass and Tina Armstrong as partners, He liked Bass cuz of his size, and Tina because of her big set of...combos.

Awen opened the door to the Entertainment Room slowly. She really kept a bit to herself for the passed day. Worrying about things to come and whatnot.. Awen looked up from her feet finally and saw..oh.. someone was already playing.

She frowned a bit. She had been looking forward to some single player games, maybe her Sonic, on the Game Cube. It seemed like she had only been playing two player since she got to the island. But she shrruged and went towards the couch.

She flopped down besides Chubbs, her eyes on the screen the whole time. "Nice combo, I haven't seen that in succession in a long time." Come to think of it she hadn't played this game in forever anyway. She never much liked DoA games and she had only borrowed it from a friend back home.

Chubbs blinked suddenly and looked to Awen with a blush, he hadn't seen her come in till she sat down. He didn't realise he was getting walloped by his opponent on the screen, quickly turned back and flicked the pause button.

He caught his breath and finally looked back to Awen with a shy smile and blushing still a bit.

" Oh.. ummm thanks. Oh you umm need the tv? I can turn this off..'

Chubbs got himself up with a grunt and headed over to the tv and to the xbox.

Awen shot to her feet as he went to turn it off. "No, no!" She said quickly. "It's okay, I don't need the Tv at all. You can keep playing." She smiled and sank back down to the couch. She did however notice his hand. She frowned a little bit.

"Had an accident?" She asked her face riddled with concern.

Chubbs blinked and turned around, he really didn't mind, it was just something to keep his mind off of things, that and he'd been here for a while. Chubbs looked down at his hand when she mentioned it, he blushed and partly put it behind his back.

" I er .. umm got a bit angry at the people... ya know?.. in the labs on the intercom?.. an ah.. I smashem my intercom"

Chubbs didn't feel so proud of his outburst, but he didn't want to lie about it.

" I've been playing.. umm for like six hours, I don't wanna be a hog. Besides I er.. like to watch"

Chubbs blinked and blushed bright red realising the innuendo that could come from that statement

" Oh man.. I didn't mean.. umm like that"

Chubbs covered his eyes with his hand.

"Like what?" Awen smiled a little bit. Really she wasn't so dense not to catch what he said and how it could be taken wrong. But she was a gamer too, she knew what fun it could be to watch someone else play.

She stood up and moved over to the tv. "But hey if you insist." She flipped channels on the tv and decided she didn't feel like a Sonic game anymore. She threw in Super Mario Sunshine. Grabbing a controller she went back to sit on the couch.

"I hope that your hand heals soon... it looks pretty bad..." She wondered who he had gotten so angry at. Which one of the Doctors had made this shy guy, no gaming pun instended, snap?

Chubbs blushed a little more, having to point out the innuendo in his own speach was an embaressing thing.

" Like.. ah... well you know, how some people ah " Like to watch" "

Chubbs made the quotation marks with his fingers, hoping she'd catch his drift. He sat back down on the couch, giving her the room that he could so he wasn't right beside Awen. He looked at his hand and smiled shyly at her

" It's fine.. I've had ah...worse in the boxing ring... a day or so and she'll be apples"

He wondered if Awen heard of that saing before. He still hadn't killed off some of his aussie slang.

She'll be apples... interesting saying. She hadn't heard it before but she figured out the meaning fairly easily. But.... Chubbs ...explaining... Awen blushed quite a bit herself. She shook her head and just started a new file on the game.

"I meant to make ya feel better by ignoring the innuendo..." She mumbled a little bit blushing, but so she wouldn't blush more she just concentrated on the tv.

"So you really did box huh?" She switched subjects and glanced at him. "Bet you did good. My dad watched national boxing matches on tv when I was a kid. Said it was better than wrestling because it was real."

Chubbs blushed along side of her, he didn't realise she was trying to be nice to him by saving him some embaressment. He smiled shyly at her, seeing her blush too made it a bit easier. He looked back to the tv, wondering what game she was playing.

" Sorry, I didn't mean.. ah to"

He blinked when she brought up boxing and he turned to look at her. HE blushed a little as she believed he was good at it.

" I - I did okay.. was getting beter. And umm, I actually like wrestling... I know it's fake, but umm, it's still entertaining... like a play"

He smiled a bit and went back to watching her play

She giggled a little bit. "You know, I've never thought abot it like that before... Like a play." She grinned.

But quickly lost her grin and said "shoot" under her breath as she jumped off the side of the level accidently. "These Myster of... levels are the hardest." She explained. "Mario looses the water shooter thing and you have to go old school moves with bad controls..."

Chubbs turrned his head and grinned, hearing her giggle. He did love that giggle, lit up the room. He blinked at looked at the screen as she got upset at the game, she looked like she knew what she was doing anyway. Chubbs nodded like he understood but really the last mario game he played was Mariokart on the SNES.

" Mario, he, er, he's not a decent plumber... I - I mean... where's his plumber's crack?"

She outright laughed hearing the comment. "I guess you're right Chubbs! Overalls shouldn't be the suit of choice for the plumer if you look at it like that." She grinned a long while and finally completed the level right getting a sunshine. "Nice..." She muttered.

Save? Yes.

Continue? Yes.

And back to the main area.

Chubbs chuckled along with her, it was good to hear some laughter in a place like this, deffinately took the mind off of things. He realised Awen was pretty damn good.

" Congrats...ya pretty good, I - I'm impressed"

Chubbs smiled at her and looked back to the game on the tv

Awen grinned, but blushed at the compliment. "Ah well.... I've played this game a hundred times through. It's almsot instinct by now, you know?" She laughed a little. "Thanks though...."

Chubbs smiled and watched her blitz through the game with style, he really was impressed though. He'd never seen a gamer girl before, really, and it was fun to watch her play.

" Fighting games are for me... not that I like em or anything... just I do alright at em for some reason... I umm remember, like when I was .. umm twelve, beatin all the senior high school kids, at ah.. fatal fury.. down the local corner ,, umm shop"

Awen soft smiled turning into a predatory grin. "Fighting games you say....? Hmm... Fatal Fury was a really good one too..." She tried to surpress the look on her face but she couldn't help it.

Everyone knew... or... at least everyone back home knew, there was one thing this girl wasn't so sweet with and that was Soul Calibur. Well... Soul Calibur and Monopoly.... she was a darn good businness women!

"So....Chubbs..." She said slowly. "Have you ever... played Soul Calibur II?"

Chubbs looked over and blinked at the look on her face, she looked a bit scarey for a second there. Soul caliber II?, he remembered the first one, how could it not, hot fighter chicks always implanted themselves in his head.

" Soul Caliber umm II? ah, nah... not yet... I umm did play the first one though... I liked the big guy.. with the axe?"

It was n axe or a club, but something big anyway, big enough to send people flying.

She paused her game and turned to him. She surpressed her grin and settled on a smile. "Would you like to play then...?" She couldn't help but sound a little dangerous in her tone.

Chubbs turned to her, smiling a little, wondering about the look he was getting. He was starting to feel a little nervous by it, he figured she was anxious to kick his butt.

" I umm, sure.. ah I guess so.. I mean that's umm if you wanna"

"Two player, more fun for everyone." She sprang from the couch to the games. She shut off her game and switched the channels again. She... then realised SCII was in her room on the PS2. She sank back down onto the floor. "Shoot."

She turned back with an awkward grin and started riffling through the Xbox games. They had to have had SCII in the stock. Come on.... She hated the controls for it on the Xbox, and knew none of the combos on it...

But.. it was there anyway. Her grin faded and she popped it in. All of a sudden she seemed less confident but got up and gave a second controller to Chubbs.

"Let's play." She tried to regain her grin but it didn't work.

Chubbs smiled and took the controller, wondering why she seemed down for a minute there. He looked down at the clunky thing. He really did hate it.

" Ya think, ah.. bill gates.. was umm a lil high when he,.. like made this thing. Damn things huge and.. ah clunky. PS2 comtrollers were like.. well really good.. I just have to figure, umm, which button is umm which"

Awen brightened up. So Chubbs hated the controller too. She didn't see why though. His hands were large enough to fit the standard controller. Her's ...were less than so.

"Well maybe, but the S-controller was better. Smaller and easier. Too bad they don't have any here..." She got the game set up quickly.

She figured the buttons couldn't be too much different than the PS2's sor the combos then. She could do this, don't get psyched out just because of the make of controller! Awen still had her favourite player, Kilik.

"Bring it on boxer man." She grinned.

Chubbs chuckled and looked down at the controller, making sure of his finger positions and then went through the character selection. Finally Cubbs settled on a big built character that looked nifty, Astaroth, and selected him. Turning to Awen he grinned.

" Prepare thyself to become a smear on the bottom of my shoe mortal!"

Awen laughed heartily. "If you can catch me..." She griined evily. "Just try to get near to me, I'll poke you back!"

She blinked a little bit and frowned. "That.... sounded a lot more threatening in my head."

She shook her head a little bit. "Age old battle here Chubbs. Quick and long reach, verus slow and powerful. Game on!"

Chubbs couldn't help but laugh heartily at her humour, she was funny, he pictured her in a boxing ring using pokes instead of punches and dancing about. The image was soon gone as he found himself already under attack and Chubbs snapped back to reality, pushing buttons at random, trying to figure out which was which. This opened him up to attack a few times, but when he finally figured out the ones he needed for the fight at hand, he quickly went on the offensive.

"Better pay atten--woah!" She had begun a jeer before Chubbs went on the attack. She furrowed her brow and went to fleeting away. She had taken to controls much quicker than Chubbs, but when he took to them, he took to them!

She grinned. He was actually a challenge. She started back up, rolling away anything to get away. Aha! Poke him with the stick poke him with the stick! Poked! "Aha! Long reach sucker!"

Damn stick!, it was very annoying, hard to get close to Awen's character without getting jabbed like crazy. Chubbs had been playing Dead or Alive when Awen came in, Bass had been similiar to how Astaroth moved, so Chubbs used a tactic. Getting as close as he could, Chubbs braved the attacks flung at him, then when Awen attacked once more, Chubbs blocked, sidestepped, rolled forward and came up swinging at her fighter with his large weapon in hand.

"Oh no!" Smacked right in the side of the head. Thrown to the ground and pumpled. She barely had time to react. But once on the ground she was able to roll back to her feet. "Shoot.." He had taken a rather large chunk of her health away. All of her small attacks didn't even get the damage count that one attack did.

"I won't fall for that again you know..."

Chubbs was very quiet, this happened to him only when he played fighting games. It was the focus he used in the ring while boxing. His coach found he would never speak through the whole match, not untill the end. Tactics is what you needs, every opponent has a weakness as well as you. When Awen fell from the series off attacks, Chubbs sent his character dashing forwards in a charge attack, he hadn't stopped fighting when she hit the ground.

The silence was eerie. She glanced for a moment over to Chubbs. He was absolutely scarey when he was in the zone. He was deep in concentration but unlike when Awen reached her zone it seemed almost an angry expression.

She turned back to the game only to see her getting owned. "Ah no..nonono..." She grumbled and tried to fight back but she was trapped against a wall. She got absolutely trampled.

Astaroth Wins!

...

"Woah." She mumbled a bit. "Great job Chubbs!" She gave him a pat on hte back genuinely impressed.

Chubbs blinked, Awen was tough, he half expected himself to be flat on his a** with a staff jabbing him in the head, but he won. Chubbs felt a little bad, he didn't really want to beat her character up. Awen patted him on the back and he blushed and lowered his head

" I didn't mean to umm.. beat him up.. umm he was too pretty"

"Pixels my dear Chubbs, pixels. In the next frame he'll look good as new!" She smiled and chuckled. The only thing that probably let Chubbs he a boxer was that zone of his...what a heck of a thing.

She smiled softly and moved over to the Xbox. "I think I'm done playing...you?"

Chubbs nodded and stretched his arms over the back of the couch and smiled.

" Will deffinately have to rematch you"

He grinned lightly and then rubbed the back of his head.

" So what ya umm up to now?"

Awen shrugged a little bit. "Oh well.. I don't know." She grabbed Chubbs' controller by the cord and pulled it gently towards her. She wraped the controllers up and put them away turning onn the system.

"Hey Chubbs...?" She sat on her knees with her back to him for a moment biting her lip. She didn't know why she wanted to ask but... She turned to face him.

"Why are you on the island anyway...?"

Chubbs looked over at Awen and, he smiled a bit, he just liked how she sat, like a little bundle of cute. He left his arm sitting on the back of the couch while the other reached into the back of his pocket and pulled out a wallet. With a flick of the clip, he opened it and lay it in her hand. The photo of him and the children lay under the plastic window where his license would sit.

" I came here, well.. for them"

Awen smiled softly seeing the picture. It was one of the sweetest things she had ever seen. Judging by all the shapes, sizes, skins, and hair of all the children they must be... orphans maybe? At least a community of kids, none of which looked like Chubbs... She didn't know the full story behind the picture but.... It was so cute.

But soon her smile turned into a frown. She hadn't the wallet back slowly. "I'm so sorry Chubbs..." She said in a tiny voice.

Chubbs took the wallet back and tried to keep a smile. He at least didn't want her feel bad for his sake, he patted Awen on her shoulder.

" Don't be.. I came here... well cuz I thought there was a boxing match... and umm.. well.. they are poor... and in a bad neighbourhood. I - I ah train em.. to box.. and well I don't have alot of gear.. and umm well the gyms a really old building. With the money I woulda got... well I could get them a new one"

Chubbs patted the phto and put the wallet away.

" I wouldn't change a thing though... I maybe stuck here, but um... the kids still get their gym.. and I ah.. that's all that matters"

Chubbs smiled softly

"Still I'm sorry Chubbs..." She said softly and just dropped herself onto her bottom, her legs were getting sore in the possition they were in. "That was really selfless of you."

And the big teddy bear returns from the fiery glare of the zone... A smile twitched to Awen's lips. "I really hope the Doctor gives those kids the gym..."

Chubbs smiled more so now, tucking his legs up and leaning on his knees

" I ah.. hope so too"

He gave her a wink and then blinked, realising he hadn't known much about her.

" Oh and umm, how... no umm why did ya come here?"

She faultered a little at the wink. She didn't really know what the wink was for. She was so used to Jamal's winks lately that's the first thing that came to mind. But..nooo.... Chubbs wasn't like that. Best just to..ignore the wink, yes.

"Um...well..." She bowed ehr head a little bit. "Came here for therapy.... to get rid of my ....um hydrophobia..."

Chubbs raised a brow, then tried to think of what that meant. He eventually realised she was afraid of water, he'd never heard of it.

" Can .. I umm ask... like... how do ya shower?"

He suddenly blushed and blinked, realising that could be taken the wrong way.

" I ah.. I just meant umm.. oh I was curious is all"

His cheeks were getting redder

Awen laughed a bit. As much as people knew she was afraid of water no one had ever dared ask that question before. She smiled brightly at how bold this shy man actually was.

"Quickly." She giggled and shook her head. "Very quickly."

She settled into a little more serious face. "There wa a time when I wouldn't. I was that extreme. But eventually..." She broke into a grin again. "A group of my friends had an..er.. intervention I suppose. They were over at my house and jumped me dragging me off and hauled me into the shower, clothes and all!" She laughed but there was a small shudder she tried to conceal. "They held me under the water until I promised I'd at least wash and stuff. Yeah....I was..pretty bad...."

Chubbs smiled a little at her giggle, loving the sound, returning the smile that shone at him. But he then lessened as she told the tale of her intervention. He frowned some, maybe her friends were half the problem.

" I umm... I think i woulda, well.. done the opposite, ya know?.. like umm slowly umm got ya used to it... not like chuck ya into a shoer... but umm that's just me"

Chubbs blushed a bit, realising that the conversation about Awens bathing habits was probably gonna lead the wrong way.

Awen shook her head a little bit. "Well it's not healthy that's all." She smiled. "I do appreciate a friend who wouldn't go against my wishes Chubbs, but I mean... it was becoming a problem, you know?"

She smiled brightly looking up at him. "Thanks for the sentiment though."

Oddly enough Awen thought nothing of talking about her bathing habits. To her it wasn't like it was anything, just a piece of her hydrophobe past, nothing indecent at all really.

Chubbs twisted himself sideways to face Awen and rested his head on the back of the sofa. He was curios about her condition, but he thought he could find about it elsewhere rather than badger her with questions. So instead... he had another question.

" So um... how's things.. um for ya here?"

Awen shifted a little bit. Even if he thought he was doing good by changing the subject it was worse actually. She was used to talking about her hydrophobia but no one even asked her how the island was for her on the island. This she had to think about.

"I can't really complain..." She said finally. "Nice people here.... and despite what people think the Doc has helped a lot of people, even if he is a rude jerk at parties.... " She bit her lip a little bit. "Haven't started to change yet...it's been like a month and a half so.. I dunno I'm doing better than a lot of people appearently..."

Chubbs smiled lightly, she was doing well at least. Awen was right about the people on the island, they were really nice. He raised an eyebrow at the mention of the Doc and a party, and chubbs began to wonder what he missed out on. Regardless, he reached over and patted her hand.

" I.. umm.. for one, well I hope ya never.. ah er change... and I umm.. mean that.. er both ways"

She looked down at her hand and blinked a little bit before smiling. "Thanks Chubbs..." She said softly. "I can't help but say I will change into..something on this island. But I'll always be the same ol' Awen." She smiled brightly up at him.

"Oh hey!" She said quickly just remembering. "You said you hurt your hand on the intercom, did you ask the tech about your animal?"

Chubbs smiled at her word, Awen was great, and he liked her alot. He hoped that even with the changes she could hang onto who she was. He then blinked at her question about his hand and his animal. Heh, here he goes again, he thought it should be a good Idea to take pictures of their reactions to the news.

" Yeah.. I ah.. did... found out was erm... well bear, and ah tasmanian devil... and ah wolverine"

"Bear...Tasmanian devil and a wolverine?" She mumbled thinking a bit wondering how those would combine. They really were getting erratic with their serums. Scales and feathers for that one girl, not this for Chubbs? They must be getting more confident in their research.... She hopes that all this is going for a bigger purpose instead of the Doc's twisted fantacy.

She smiled up at Chubbs. "I knew I pegged you as a teddy bear!" She giggled a bit. "And Tazmainian devils are cute little critters....and wolverines... I mean they're just neat, aren't they? At least they all have similar fur patterns, and you'll be fuzzy." Awen smiled a little bit, Colche would definately like Chubbs if he gets to be so fuzzy

Chubbs went imediate red, shy and bashful. The idea that he would actually be a teddy bear hadn't really crossed his mind.

" Awww don't say that"

Chubbs shyed away in a bashful state, hiding himself in a sweater by pulling over the hood. He hugged his knees and lowered his head, tying to hide the exsistance of his red cheeks

" I er, I dunno.. what i'll ah, look like... just um.. hope I'm ah still me.. in the edn"

She laughed a bit. This guy certainly was silly. He was so bold, but he never knew it himself. Seeing the big guy retreat into himself like that was just... he was such a teddy bear.

"You're a good person Chubbs..." She said with a happy, but serious tone. "I'm sure you'll still stay that good person, despite the changes."

She broke into an grin. "You're a fighter, remember? I'm sure you can keep a hold of yourself."

Chubbs nodded, least he hoped he could hang onto himself and that none of the blasted animals would take over.

" I'll ah try.... if ya promise not tah go around umm, wearin honey or the like"

He bashfully poked his head out from under his cap and hood

She giggled again and honestly got tired of the floor so sher got up brushing herself off a little bit. "I don't think we'll have a problem then my friend."

She plopped herself down on the couch relaxing Her tone once again took a small turn to serious. "I was thinking.... that I should ask what I'm turning into..." She said softly. "I mean.... after you got it up to ask and all...." She paused for a moment looking at the black television screen.

"It's not like I can do anything about it, and worrying won't do any good. Maybe if I found out I could get the Doctor to change what animal somehow? I mean... I'm not sure how all this stuff works... maybe there's still a chance if he had me as a fish I could do soemthing about it...."

Chubbs thought about it. To him it wasn't greatly hard asking, it was the information that affected him. He looked to Awen and pondered what she maybe. He thought serums couldn't be changed, or people would have chosen theirs already.

" All I can say.. umm is.. well.. you'll be you.. and I-I'll be me... and well, I figure you well, got someone now to ah.. comfort ya... All I'm ah sayin.. is umm I'm not far away... just a door knock away... and If ya need me.. tah be there when ya ask.. or for smashin ya intercom... I'll be there"

Awens smiled came back in full as she just watched Chubbs for a few moments after he spoke. She skooted over to his part of the couch and hugged him tightly. "Chubbs, you are great. Thank you very much...." She gave him an extra little squeeze before letting go and sitting back.

"Well, not many people asked what they're going to be so far..." She said a little bit wavering. "The only one to know before hand of the people I know, besides you, is Lauren...and apparently she's close with the Doc." She smiled a little bit. "So, no one's asked to my knowledge, if they could change animals. It could still be possible, but like everything they're just waiting for us to ask. Hm?"

Chubbs blushed brightly and hugged Awen back, he really wasn't expecting that at all from her at all. He was a little nervous, he hoped he at least made her feel better. He patted her back before she let go and still blushed as she spoke.

" I can't be... sure any ah.. more... th the magic genie, er umm lamp on my wall's a little ah busted. Guess.. I umm won't be ah ordering pizza"

Chubbs smiled lightly at her

Awen smiled. "Anytime you want pizza Chubbs, just come over and I'll order you some. If...I mean if you can order pizza like that..." She laughed a little bit a stood up to stretch.

"Duplex twenty one, by the way." She nodded. "I'm gonna go for a walk to you know think about things.... Have a good day Chubbs... I'll be seeing you around."

She smiled and waved. Turning she headed out of the entertainment room.

Chubbs smiled and chuckled, he figured he'd never get pizza here anyway, it was just for a joke.

" Ah, you have a good one... and um... oh yeah.. I'm twenty five... my place I ah mean"

He waved to her good bye, and then stood with a stretch, making his own way out.

Chubbs Removalist Inc.

Chubbs sits under a tree in the shade, puffing away on a winfielf blue cigarette and tucking his knees up to rest the book he's reading on. The book looks to be the bear book he pilfered from the library the previous night. He looks intently at it, taking in all the knowledge he can, to understand himself later.

Joliette talked quietly to herself as she walked checking things off on her palm pilot with her stylus as she went. The scent of cigarettes is what made her look up, she smiled... "Just the person I needed to go find" she said glad at that little bit of luck "Hi Chubbs" she said quietly walking up to one side of him from behind

Chubbs blinked and peered over his shoulder behind him and smiled up at Joliette shyly, pulling the smoke from his lips so he at least looked a little presentable.

" Hi Joliette... er.. ya stalkin me now?"

He grinned, saying that in a jokingly way

Joliette chuckled "No, actually I was going to look for you later, right now I was just double checking my todo list see?" she turned the palm pilot towards him, he was about 3 away from where she had checked off on her list it read 'Locate Chubbs'

Chubbs blinked in surprise and leaned over, lifting his cap to look closely. Sure enough his name was there, he blushed instantly, finding it complimentary that he'd be on a list

" I'm er.. flattered.. heh, not every day ya umm, find yaself being umm needed"

Joliette smiled "Not many strong men here that I'm aware of" she saod turning hte pilot back to herself and sliding the stylus into the spot on it's corner before stowing it into a pocket "And the git dropped all my darkroom stuff across the village"

Chubbs blushed even more brightly, he couldnt help it, compliments still made him blush and he lowered his head hiding it under his cap

" Aww, I'm not so strong,.. but umm... I'll help ya.. surely"

"Most of it is moved, It was dropped off at Jamal's place, I told him I'd ask if you would help him move the last item... the darkroom sink, it's kinda , well... big" Joliette explained dropping down to sit on the grass facing him

Chubbs put a leaf in his book as a marker and closed it, then took a puff of his cigarett and blew the smoke away from joliette. He lifted his head up and smiled some.

" Umm, yeah.. I can ah.. get it there... umm...need like a trolley"

"I'm not certain where to find such item really" she frowned slightly when he mentioned a trolley, she leaned an elbow on her knee and put her chin in her palm thinking

" Yeah, I'm ah.. still after a hook and ah, well a power drill to get my bag up"

Chubbs thought along with her, almost mimicking Joliette's pose with out realising it. He didn't know where anything handy like that would be, and contimplated on a substitute.

" Wasn't there umm some gardening.. like umm stuff?,.. we could hmm use a wheel barrow?"

Joliette chuckled seeing him sit. "Perhaps all that can be found in with all those building supplies, including your drill and hook." She mused not moving from her 'pose'

Chubbs looked over at Joliette and down at himself, wondering why she was chuckling at him. He soon realised and sat himself in a slightly different position with a blush.

" I didn't see that one.. umm where is that?.. I - I'm still getting use to.. ah the place"

Joliette grinned "It's in the town hall, takes a lil exploring but there is all sorts of building supplies in there, I used some of hte boards to block up the windows in number 28" she said with a nod

Chubbs looked up and blinked

" Ah so that's umm where it's ah going... okays... hmm.. wanna go check it out then?"

Chubbs had planned to relax a bit, but he did like helping people, specially Joliette who's been really sweet to him.

She nodded "Yes, thats the duplex I'm converting into a darkroom, You dont have to move it alone if you dont want to, Jamal can help too, he said he would" she smiled "Which also means you dont have to do it right now either"

Chubbs stood up, taking a large stretch and cracking some joints. He blinked and chuckled at the sound, but the stretch was nice after some time out in the sun.

" I can umm, go see how it looks... umm see how many people , umm we need"

Joliette chuckled and got up "All right, it's outside duplex number 7, a great big crate" she said with a smile

Chubbs nodded then smiled a bit and turned his back to her, looking over his shoulder

" Would ya.. umm like a lift?"

Joliette laughed "If you'd like to give one" she said with a nod

Chubbs blushed and chuckled lightly

" All aboard the Chubbs express!"

Chubbs dropped to one knee so she didn't have to leap up so much

Joliette laughed and walked over to him accepting his piggyback ride "you are funny Chubbs"

Chubbs grew redder in the cheeks and held onto her legs as he stood up with her.

" I just thought ,, umm well ya'd like to see, the world .. ah.. from up here"

Joliette smiled "Yeah I'm not exactly very tall am I" she mused holding him and glancing down at the ground

Chubbs smiled back at her and started walking towards the units.

" Ya like a zip file, ya know?.. umm compressed, Inside ya still ah.. the same amount of greatness"

Joliette smiled "Thanks Chubb, I appreciate that" she said watching over his shoulder as he headed towards the duplexes, she was rather excited to get her darkroom up and running, she had so many filled rolls of filme to develop

Chubbs made a couple of toot sounds and made a train whistle noise as he began to jog towards the duplexes, the buildings coming into view.

Joliette couldn't help it, that just cracked her up, it was funny, she held his shirt firmly so she wouldn't slip "Next stop #7!"

Chubbs chuckled too a bit, he was puffing a bit as well, but certainly not out of breath. Finally he made his way to Jamals duplex and made a screaching sound

" Here we are, umm ma'am"

Joliette laughs "Merci Monsieur Conductor" she said with a giggle after he had stopped

Chubbs chuckled again

" Mercy? oh, ya get no mercy"

With that he tickled her sides a bit, making sure she wouldn't fall, and only briefly before he helped her down

Joliette shrieked with laughter squirming under his tickles "Oh Chubbs you are so evil" she said with a laugh her tone saying she was teasing as she put her feet on the ground once more

Chubbs blushed a bit and smiled as he turned around

" Yeah, that's me"

He winked then looked around to find the crate she mentioned

The crate was rather obvious if only for it's size, Joliette caught her breath and wandered towards it "This is it" she said

Chubbs checked over the crate, and peered through the gaps of it looking inside. He guessed the tub would be fine, took a stp back and stomped his foot through one of the boards. With at least that starting point, Chubbs began disasembling the boards of the crate.

Joliette stood back not wanting to get in the way as he pulled apart the crate the process was amusing her, she hadn't expected him to take the crate off previous to moving it

Chubbs pulled apart the crate, half breaking parts with his big boots, till the tub sat clear of wood.

" Crate probably made it heavier"

Chubbs leaned down, and grabbed the longer edges of the tub and grunted like a weightlifter as he heaved it up, flipped it over and rested the tub upside down over his head like a large hat

Joliette went a lil wideeyed "Chubbs, are you sure you can handle that thing all by yourself?" she asked concerned for his safety

Chubbs wobbled a bit, trying to balance the large heavy tub on his head.

" I .. ah I can move, just umm, you'll have to ah.. oo direct, I can't see"

Joliette watched him nervously "O-okay" she agreed "Turn a bit to the right so you don't run into any of hte duplex then head straight"

Chubbs tried to follow her directions, turning slowly to the right to where he guessed was the right way, and looking at the ground he walked forwards, stopped, took on step back to fix his balance then continued forward.

Joliette walked slowly near him telling him when to turn and when to walk straight as they made their way across the village to her duplex and the darkroom

Chubbs almost felt like he was dancing, but he trusted Joliette's directions and continued forth, puffing a bit now under the weight.

"Stoppp" Joliette said when he got within feet of the stairs "Chubbs, number 28 is upstairs... are you going to be able to get it up there safely?" she bit her lip worried for his safety

Chubbs wasn't too sure himself, he thought he could, but in case, he wanted Joliette out of the way.

" Umm... okay, you head.... up first..... and ah... open the door... and make sure to... back up"

He puffed at the bottom of the stairs, a little sore now

Joliette nodded and quickly headed up the stairs pulling out hte keys as she went, at hte top she unlocked the door and opened it wide before moving onto the balcony out of hte way "Ok Chubbs, you have a clear path" she called down to him

Chubbs made his way up the stairs, wanting to do it quickly to put it down but fearing so would make a mistake. Makiing sure every step he took he hand a firm grip on the tum and a sure foot hold he got to the top then " bong!" Chubbs bumped the tub into the top of the door frame. the tub rang like a bell for a lil moment and Chubbs slowly lifted it up to reveal a wincing face.

" Ow!"

He placed the tub down slowly onto the door way, he gave himself a bit to bend he back, back into place and rub his neck.

"So where will it got.. and ... ah which way?"

Joliette went wideeyed and put her hand on her mouth "Chubbs are you all right?" she asked walking closer once he put the sink down, where it went could wait for a moment, she wanted to be sure Chubbs hadn't gotten hurt

Chubbs nodded to Joliette question

" I'm okay.. neck and backs.. umm a bit sore.. but ah the ringing hurt my ears was all"

He gave her a reasurring smile

" I've not been in.. umm so many boxing matches.. to well.. be beaten by a tub"

Joliette chuckled at ihs final statement "All right, it goes inside, in the bathroom, mounted over the bathtub in there" she said with a nod

Joliette had removed the bathroom door as well as the shower curtains and anything else that would impede her work in preperation for the darkroom

Chubbs tooks a quick cautionary look at where it was to end up, then went back to the sink. tipping it on it's side, he lifted it enough off the ground and shimmied with it sideways through the unit like a crab. It started to hurt his arms as he got to the bathroom. He rested the sink on his steel caps and rested it against his legs. With his breath back some, he heaved the sink up once more taking several goes before he sloted it into place over the tub.

Joliette was delighted, not only because the sink was in place, but also that he had managed to do it without getting hurt "Thankyou Chubbs" she said happily "You are wonderful, I appreciate your help and I'm glad you did not get hurt" she told him

Chubbs blinked down at Joliette, still blushing from her compliment, he returned the hug with a shy smile.

Joliette let go after a moment "Well welcome to my darkroom" she said with a soft chuckle, and it was dark, there was only 1 true light, the rest were safelights and every window was boarded up

Chubbs looked about with a smile, checking out the work she had done.

"Looking good, umm..might make for a good.. ah hibernation cave"

Joliette giggled "Perhaps, but it's also ideal for developing photographs" she smiled "I thought he might let me have a room int he town center, I certainly hadn't expected an entire duplex for this purpose, but hey I'm not complaining, just gives me more room"

Chubbs grinned at her when she giggled, he loved that sound

" Deffinately...umm plenty of space... might have to umm start taking ... well, pictures"

Joliettte walked to a small mini-fridge and opened it, it only had one thing in it... film, any she had brought and whatver she could salvage from the delivered supplies "About 3 dozen of those are full already" she told him smiling a bit of a meak smile, if he really got to know her he'd soon know her obsession with photography

Chubbs bent down to look in the fridge a whistle, he held his back, his back and neck were still tender from the sink.

" Wow, that's... well heaps!... sheesh, heh what ya take pictures of?"

"Everything, I took about 6 to 9 rolls just from my yacht when I got here before I came close, some are from the trip and some , well you saw me taking some the first time you met me" She admitted

Chubbs nodded then went and sat on the floor up against a wall.

" Yeah.. well.. umm you'll have to ah show me.. when ya get em done"

"I will Chubbs, most certainly, I wouldn't mind photographing you if you have no objections" she added and sat on the edge of hte only remaining chair in the room, the armchair

Chubbs blinked, looked up and blushed

" Me? umm.. but umm... why me?"

"I wouldn't mind photographing all my friends actually" she told him with a smile "If they will allow me to that is"

Chubbs nodded and thought about it, he probably wouldn't mind in the end.

" Alright, but ah, no n***s to umm further my modelling career"

He grinned lightly

Joliette giggled "No, no n***s, just fun casual pictures" she said with a nod

Chubbs nodded then

" Umm okay then, i'll ah.. be in a picture"

Joliette smiled "Thanks Chubbs, it won't be today, just sometime soon is all" she said with a nod and a smile

Chubbs nodded once again and grunted as he slowly lifted up from the floor

"Oh, how is your hand doing Chubbs?" she asked as he stood remembering helping him

Chubbs looked down at his hand and flexed it a little

" Oh. it's um.. well all good... just letting it ah heal up.... oh and ah thanks for the help"

"My pleasure to help" she said with a smile getting up from where she sat and walking towards him

Chubbs smiled and rubbed the bandage on his hand and adjusted his hat as he watched her walk over

"I shouldn't keep you, you seemed like you were working on somehting when I found you" she said quietly stopping near him

Chubbs shook his head a little, not really finding anyhing of imporance for him to be doing on the island

" Nah.. I was fine.. just reading up on bears"

"All right, just so long as you are sure" she said with a nod... "Have you ever seen the process to print a photograph?" she asked curiously knowing she had a few negatives from teh mainland with her

Chubbs remembered back to highschool when he was in art class. The artroom had a spin off developing room for photography classes, and he'd had to use some of the equipment to do an art project.

" Ummm you ah... I think ya like flash the image from the film to umm like paper stuff... and .. ah.. use chemicals to ah make it show up?

Chubbs couldn't remember, scratching the back of his head

"That is a very simple terms of it yes" she chuckled "It goes from there" she pointed to the 'sink' in the bathroom "to there" she pointed to the enlarger "and then to the different chemicals required to make the image appear" she smiled "Then it has to dry"

Chubbs nodded at each one she mentioned, smiling when Joliette had finished

" I'll have ah..to come see ya .. umm..do it some time"

Joliette nodded "You are more then welcome to Chubbs" she said

Chubbs smiled and blushed a bit then looked around

" I ah should get out of,.. um ya hair and let ya finish up"

"Ok Chubbs, Thanks again for helping, and you are always welcome here and at my place to visit" she told him

Chubbs grinned lightly and nodded

" Will do.. and umm.. same to you.... I still owe ya a tea"

She smiled "just drop me a note or knock on my door, besides this theres nothing else here to tie me up"

Chubbs made his way to the door, and chuckled a little

" Kinky!"

Joliette giggled "Chubbs you are funny, I'll talk to you soon" she said happily

Chubbs smiled and blushed, waving to her as he went down the stairs

" Will do.. see ya round"

Joliette watched him leave then closed the door getting to work

Colche

PostPosted: Sat Nov 19, 2005 3:19 am

Colche had learnt alot of things from her book just lately, the talking leap pad system had taught her to count all the way to thirty.. She searched down the row of numbers "twentey..one..twenty..two..twenty..thuree..twenty fourr..twenty five!" She grins broadly, yup this was Chubb's duplex. She had asked the lady at the diner and she had told her. Sneaking up to the door she pushes it. Unfortunately, Colche hadn't learnt the word 'knock' and neither did she link the fact that Aubrey always knocked, she turned the handle and rolled in with a slight flump. Landing on her behind wasn't exactly fun at the moment her tail end still sore but she refrained from saying ow slipping to her feed like a silent, if rather large, kitty. Biting her tongue she spots her 'prey' for today. Her tail twitches and with a very quiet giggle she pounces the jolly fat man landing on him with a huge huggle glomp attach "CHUBBS!" she shouts "found, found, found" she giggles again her tail twitching back and forth as she clung to the probably exceedingly surprised man.

Chubbs had been sound asleep, he was dreadfully tired after the last few nights lack of sleep and moving the sink for Joliette. He had been dreaming peacefully about being spiderman when suddenly his back was jumped on andthere was a loud noise.

Chubbs' eyes shot open and he rolled over in a bit of a panic at the abnormal attack on his back. He found Colche, or what looked like Colche, it deffinately sounded like Colche. He couldn't twist himself around to at least give her a hug hello, the girl clung to his back and even though she disrupted his sleep and he was tired and saw, he still had to smile and blush.

" Yes, yes.. Colche found umm Chubbs"

Colche giggles bounding off him so he couldroll over properly she sits with her legs crossed looking at the big man her tail wriggling. She had happily put her swimming costume on today, it was a gife from Aubrey and there fore had to be worn, it was just low enough that her tail could sit over the top of it without hurting her. She grins she had been pretyt much out of the picture for days since she had grown a tail, too sore to do much but today she fully intended on taking Chubbs back to the beach for another round of playing in the sand and the sea "Colche take Chubbs beach" she giggles wriggling her stumpy tail shewouldn't take no for an answer that was for sure!

Her big blue eyes danced in thwe darkness, she had a very good memory and she would remember that Chubbs door was open. She could coem and find him when ever she wanted now. Her nose wrinkles in a smile and her eyes dance happily.
